The cottage is located on the banks of the clear Marukawa River. Gifu is famous for Shirakawago and Hida Takayama, but Enbara is also a nice place in the mountains, although it is inconvenient. The Enbara River is known as the most beautiful underground water in Japan and a famous spot for its light, and the inn is located about 800 meters from the spring water point of the underground water, so the water transparency is excellent. You can also see the light from the inn. On summer mornings, depending on the weather conditions, you can see a magical view of the sunlight pouring through the trees. The water in the Marukara River is cold, but in summer the children play in the river energetically. The riverbed is much cooler, so people can escape the heat and cool off. A little downstream there are several river play spots, and the water is clear everywhere and it feels good to swim beautifully. It is a space where we designed it ourselves, created the parts we could with our own hands, and explored the possibilities of renovating the warehouse while cultivating the power to create our own lives. There is a backyard at the end of the dirt floor that continues from the entrance, and you can walk around freely. Medieval Haiku poet, Basho Matsuo likened eternal passage of time to "百代の過客", a permanent traveller. In his time, a hundred years was expressed as eternal. HAKU was originally built as a farmer’s shed about a hundred years ago. It was recently relocated and renovated for another hundred years. HAKU will welcome you as traveling companions.
