ann Nagara, Gifu Castle & Nagara River & Ukai, 3 bedrooms, 160 m2, renovated 130-year-old merchant house

I used it as a family trip for four people. The building feels old, but the inside is surprisingly clean, and we had an extraordinary experience without any stress. The explanations for check-in, etc. were easy to understand, and the replies were quick, so I always felt safe. It was so nice that I'd love to stay again if I get the chance.

Rent a 100-year-old house | Free sake and matcha green tea | As a base for sightseeing in Kanazawa and Hakusan

Amazing. Kon-san offers genuine, natural hospitality, something I find rare these days. He made everything easy and comfortable. He checked us in, showed us the house, and was available for any questions or help. We didn't have a car so he took us to some of his favorite places in the area. He shared the local history, like an old friend taking us around his hometown. The house is funky and historical, and we loved it. It was so fun to live in a traditional Japanese house for a few days. Everything is clean and well thought out. The beds are very comfortable!! The town is quiet, with a car there's lots to see. Easy train from Kanazawa. We were looking for a quiet home to rest and enjoy, and Guesthouse Fujita was perfect. I booked this house purely on the high praises for the host, and very glad I did.

Oyado Aburari, the closest to Kansai Airport, an inn of Japanese merchants full of Japanese atmosphere (same price for up to 3 people)

We stayed with five friends for two nights at Mino’s house before flying out of Japan, thanks to its proximity to Kansai International Airport. If we had known how amazing the stay would be and how kind Mino and his wife were, we definitely would have stayed longer. The house is a beautifully preserved traditional Japanese home with tatami mats and low doorways—which was a funy challenge for close to 200 cm tall Dutch guys (some head bumps happend), but it added to the charm! It was spotless and had the most comfortable beds and futons we experienced during our 3-week trip. The location is great—restaurants nearby, a train station just 5 minutes away, and easy access to central Osaka in under 30 minutes. A large seaside outlet mall with Japanese and Western brands is just one stop away and highly recommended. Mino and his wife were wonderful hosts—friendly, helpful, and full of great local tips. Thanks again, Mino—we truly enjoyed our stay!

I used it for three nights for a family trip to Inuyama, Gifu, Ogaki, and Sekigahara during the Golden Week holiday.I had a very relaxing stay with 4 people.I think it can be used with ease by about 2 families if you arrange the rooms. It's been a while since it was built, but it's been renovated as much as possible, the cleaning is perfect, and there are plenty of cooking utensils, dishes, bedding, towels, etc., so I think you'll be satisfied unless you're very sensitive. It's not downtown, but there are restaurants nearby, and since it's a residential area, there are also supermarket convenience stores, so I don't think you'll have any trouble finding food.I didn't use the train this time because I used a car, but the road wasn't as difficult as I thought, and the bypass was close, so it's convenient to use this as a base for sightseeing in Gifu and Aichi. The next day it was clean and well maintained, but the bathtub was old-fashioned and narrow, so if you want to bathe leisurely, I recommend using a car to go to a super public bath (Ginan Onsen or Minori).

Fully renovated 100 year old japanese house

Our stay was incredible. The house itself was stunning—beautifully maintained, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed and more. But what truly made the experience special were the hosts. They went above and beyond in every way, making us feel so welcome and cared for throughout our visit. It’s rare to come across such thoughtful and generous hospitality. We couldn’t have asked for a better place or better people—highly recommended!
