We had a phenomenal stay! The serene gardens surrounding the property are exceptionally well cared for, providing a peaceful escape from any unwanted noise. You can enjoy the most beautiful sunset views here. I cannot express enough how wonderful Marc is! When we arrived in the evening, he prepared a charcuterie board and offered us wine and blankets, allowing us to comfortably relax outdoors while taking in the scenery. In addition to his delicious and beautifully prepared breakfasts, he stocked our room with fresh local berries, chocolates, and water. He even started the fireplace for us each evening. We have stayed in many places around the world, but Marc is truly the best host we’ve encountered! He treats guests like a considerate, generous, and welcoming friend. While Marc respects guests’ privacy, we found ourselves looking forward to our conversations with him. If you’re looking for tranquility nestled in beautiful surroundings with the most gracious host, this is it!

This place is clean and definitely worth the price. Close to gas station, restaurant, pharmacy and all other services needed. Highly recommend!

Wow, what a great experience at this hostel! Such a drastic experience from my last hostel experience. I took a quick overnight trip by myself and felt very comfortable, extremely safe, was able to get a lot of work done AND took the most amazing yoga class ever! The staff was really friendly and the vibe felt like a mix of a nice cafe, plus coworking space with a CLEAN kitchen and bathrooms plus comfortable accommodations. I will be returning for sure! We stayed at the beautiful Qual Cottage for 3 weeks and we couldn’t be happier with our visit. The apartment was spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. The setting was absolutely beautiful. And Kay sets the standard for hosts. We needed a place to stay while construction was going on at home. We found Quail Cottage and it turns out we hit the jackpot. The setting is lovely — the apartment looks out over a canyon where we saw deer, rabbits, hawks and a wide array of birds. The apartment itself is gorgeous — big windows, lots of space, comfortable furniture, fully appointed kitchen, big bathroom with a great shower, a laundry room. The bed was wonderful - we slept so well every single night. There’s a beautiful deck and yard. It is quiet and completely private. And we were only a 15-20 minute drive from Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel. Kay made sure we were well taken care of. There were the makings for dinner and breakfast waiting for us when we arrived so we didn’t have

Was a beautiful home in walking distance to the beach and the town of Carmel by the sea. Would love to stay again the next time we visit. Was perfect for our family of four.

Kay's apartment was lovely for anyone who appreciates serenity and nature. The views are exceptional. It's very quiet and very private. Kay immediately told me I would have the whole side of the house completely to myself, and I did. She was very welcoming to my dog. She kindly offered to let me use the washing machine. The kitchen was well stocked with food for my arrival. Kay did everything she could to make my time there everything I hoped for. I spent a lot of time outdoors in the various patios. There is an enclosed area for a dog. It's a roomy place so would be good for a couple. The apartment is in a gated community in the foothills above Laguna Seca, just off Los Laureles Grade so there is a bit of a drive to get anywhere. There are numerous parks for hiking or exploring nearby. It is easy to get to Monterey, Carmel, Salinas. Highly recommended.

Now I know heaven is real, because this place is it. My family and friends had a wonderful time here. The kitchen was well stocked with a gorgeous view of the river. We enjoyed dining outside under the trees, listening to the birds, and watching a deer meander across the river. The kids had a blast going up and down the river and building fairy houses for nighttime treasure drops. I would absolutely stay here again and look forward to making it a spring-time rendezvous each year. Thank you so much for an incredible experience!
