Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Mathews County

This was one of the cleanest, well thought out Airbnbs my Husband and I have ever stayed in! The host was quick to respond with any needs, the home was well stocked with essentials, and had notes with recommendations for the area. We loved drinking coffee on the dock and watching movies in the outdoor living area. The area is so quiet and peaceful.

Our crew stayed here for work and had no complaints! They loved the area and loved the hosts!! They all said it was supper clean and would stay again!!

We so enjoyed our stay!! I frequent the Mathews area for a variety of reasons, but this was by far one of the most beautiful waterfront views I’ve seen at any place I’ve stayed. Buddy and Robin were extremely communicative and flexible— we were in town for a wedding with specific event timings and were able to check-in early to spruce up after travels. Which was SO helpful since some of our group had driven from Cleveland. We ended up spending quite a bit of time doing wedding activities out and about, but I crave coming back here and being able to relax at the beautiful pier and taking a kayak out. Would book again! The proximity to Bethel Beach should be a major selling point. It’s a wonderful walk with great birding opportunities!!

We enjoyed our stay & really enjoyed being on the water. The dock was lovely to fish off of, there was plenty of yard space for our kids to run around & get energy out. Beds were comfortable. Was a really great stay & we will probably try to book again in the future!

Oyster Haven, that it is! Our hosts thought of everything. The house was well stocked and had upgraded appliances. Everything was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The hosts were very responsive to every question we had. The area is very quiet with beautiful water views. The back screened in porch was perfect for lounging out of the sun. We loved watching the Osprey build their nest and the bunnies hop around the yard. It was the perfect place for our Easter egg hunt. The mini private beach had beautiful sand and oyster shells galore. Lots of restaurants were close by with dine in or take out options. Some had water views. The food was fresh and delicious. Our favorite was White Dog Bistro. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Oyster Haven. Thank you, Kelly & Ben, for being such wonderful hosts.

We had the most amazing weekend staying at this cozy cottage for my son’s birthday getaway. From the moment we arrived, everything was absolutely perfect. The space was clean, beautifully decorated, and had such a peaceful, welcoming vibe. It truly felt like peace from the moment we stepped out of the car. The cottage had everything we needed. It made settling in so easy and stress-free, especially with little one in tow. The hosts were beyond incredible. Their warmth, hospitality, and attention to detail made our stay unforgettable. They even went out of their way to help make my son’s birthday feel extra special by letting us do cake with family in their backyard, which meant the world to us. This trip was full of sweet memories, and a huge part of that was thanks to this beautiful cottage and its amazing hosts. If you’re looking for a relaxing, memorable stay, we 100% recommend booking here. We’ll definitely be back!

We came to Mathews for a family wedding. Chip’s place was wonderful! I wish we had a longer stay to enjoy the fire pit in the backyard. The beds were comfortable and cozy. We would definitely stay again and refer others!

I think this is the best Airbnb we have ever stayed at. the house was spotless, it had an amazing shower, and had everything we needed. Elenny was so accommodating with our dog as well, and was flexible with check in and check out. this was a great experience and we would recommend this spot and host to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay!

We had an excellent stay at the Fish House- right on the water with beautiful views and peaceful morning cups of coffee on the deck. Michelle was very responsive and provided great recommendations on everything from restaurants to kayaking spots. While the marina is a working business we did not find that it negatively impacted our stay and in fact it enhanced it since the employees there were very kind and courteous. We can't say enough about Michelle's hospitality- she has a true gift! We wanted to have direct access to abundant kayaking and this was for sure the spot to be. While we paddled the creek/inlet area we also found the Oyster Point paddling trail (just a few minutes down the road) to be a great excursion. We will be planning to return!

Very close to Busch Gardens as stated and easy to find. The home was very clean and had lots of brochures for nearby activities and restaurants. Everyone including myself stated having had great sleep. The host is very easy to get ahold of and quick to respond. I highly recommend this Airbnb!

Great place to stay away from lots of people. Super quiet and neat.

My adult son said this was the best airbnb pick I'd made over the years! We rested AND had fun switching between pickleball, basketball, putting and kayaking. Kitchen was the perfect size and had all the basics for cooking a full meal. Beds were comfortable, roomy and every room had great views of the water and property. We loved everything about our stay

Anne's place was just spectacular! Perfect for 2 couples as our home-base to explore Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown. The high end furnishings are beautiful. The patio, yard and lake view were wonderful. We enjoyed the theater room each night. Thank you for a great vacation.

We used this space while our home was being worked on, do it was more of a “staycation” and did not use all of the amenities. The space was clean and newly renovated, so we were pleased with how nice things were. I highly recommend it for people visiting the Williamsburg area. Great location to Busch Gardens, W&M, etc. The only negative is that it is a time share, and they don’t take no for an answer.

Such a beautiful place- decorated perfectly- with wonderful paintings-- and such amazing views! We loved the outdoor space- watching dolpins & sitting on private beach, watching blue herons & dolphins-- also walked to marina to enjoy the Tiki Windmill for dinner, & all around there.. Loved it all!

The stay was perfect for what we needed during our stay in Williamsburg. It was nice to walk to the nearby marina and restaurant in the evenings.

This is truly a hidden gem in Cape Charles! We recently stayed for the long holiday weekend and loved every minute of our trip. The apartment is absolutely beautiful and the location couldn't be better. We enjoyed having the ability to walk around town and have stores and restaurants so close by. The host was friendly and helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had. We look forward to staying here again!

We’ve stayed here several times when visiting the park. Extremely close, quiet, and secure. We greatly recommend for anyone wanting the same!

Kingsmill is a naturally beautiful planned community where you could have lots of adventure and sport out of your back door with options for dining and exploration or you could just enjoy the beautiful views of the James River and the sounds of nature around you. Highly recommend for either!

Wonderful host! Cozy, relaxing setup. We are moving to Texas and needed a place to stay for a week after the movers came to our home. This Airbnb was so nice, I would live in it full time! Very kind and sweet host as well!

Book this condo! It was the cleanest AirBnB I’ve ever rented but was still warm and comfortable. You can tell the condo is well taken care of. The neighborhood was charming. The pool was closed but the beach within the community was nearby and quiet. We were a short drive from Cape Charles town center and parking was a breeze. The host was incredibly accommodating; her restaurant recommendations were spot on. I wish we could’ve stayed longer!

The condo was very clean with all necessary essentials. We loved sitting on the porch watching the wildlife, especially the numerous ospreys. It is centrally located, only a short drive to historic Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Plan for about a day at each to fully enjoy everything. The grounds of the resort are lovely and a great place to walk or ride bikes. Rodica was very easy to communicate with and was most helpful with all checking instructions, especially with our late arrival. We would definitely like to return.
