Family-friendly vacation rentals in Makry Gialos

Chouette maison, très agréable pour 8 personnes. La vue est incroyable, les terrasses magnifiques et la piscine très belle! Malgré que nous y étions en décembre, nous avons pu déjeuner et dîner sur la terrasse et utiliser le bbq (qui était nettoyé tous les jours!) et même la pisicine. Il y a une petite plage à 10 minutes à pied. Agios est à 5-10 minutes en voiture. Ionna a été très acceuillante, réactive et très aidante. Nous recommandons sans hésitation.

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour chez Despoina et Nikos . La vue, la piscine à débordement, la plage privée tout était parfait ! Merci à nos hôtes pour leur gentillesse et toutes leurs attentions (huile d’olive, petits gâteaux grecs )… Ce coin de l’île est beaucoup plus tranquille et moins surpeuplé que dans le nord et très pratique pour visiter certains lieux touristiques ( Agios Nikolaos, l’île de Spinalonga, Mochlos super joli village, Makris Gialos…). Nous apprécions également de rester profiter de la piscine et de la plage privée ! Nous reviendrons avec plaisir et surtout nous communiquerons l’adresse à nos amis. On vous dit à bientôt.

Well-equipped and spacious property perched on a hill with a stunning view of the surroundings. Whenever we looked for something - a power outlet in a specific area, an iron, etc. - we found it easily. The sofa and beds were comfortable and internet worked fine (streamed the French Open live in HD without issues). It's a perfect villa for a couple with up to three kids who want to explore this serene area of Crete. Thanks for your hospitality, Giwrgos and Giannis. Cheers!

Accueil parfait, d'une très grande gentillesse et professionnelle.... La vue est superbe et le personnel toujours à l'écoute...restaurant très sympathique et excellent....et petit déjeuner parfait. Piscine accessible et très bien entretenue... Et les services supplémentaires que nous avons demandés ont été faits avec rapidité et compréhension.... 10 sur 10 à cette réservation ! Bravo

We had a wonderful stay here. Very peaceful. Often all you will hear are the bells clanging from the local goats. Delicious food at the onsite taverna. Beautiful lodge, with special touches such as a bottle of wine waiting for us to congratulate us on our wedding. Of note, this villa is very high up in the mountains. If you're flying into heraklian airport that evening, it's a long and dark drive up some very narrow and winding roads, so you may want to make the drive in the daytime. It's about an hour drive up/down the mountain to any other town so be prepared to drive. But the scenery is beautiful...majestic mountains.

This is it - heaven on Earth! Only go here if you can accept this is the best of the best, you have reached perfection, nothing else will measure up. And at some point you will have to leave! Paras was the perfect host, so friendly, knowledgeable and generous. A very interesting and engaging individual. The property is utter perfection. It appears like an oasis, surrounded by lovely plants, trees etc. The whole place is of the highest standard. Even when the wind blew we arrived in the evening to find the leaves etc had been discreetly swept up and the grounds tidied. It has a perfect balance of shade and areas to catch some rays. We spent the mornings by the pool, afternoons at the beach a few minutes away then evenings in the local area having the finest food. The building is air conditioned and has shutters so we slept so well. We can't thank Paras enough for the best holiday ever.

Wir haben einen Teil unseres Urlaubs in der Wohnung von Aspasia gewohnt. Die Wohnung liegt im ersten Stock eines Wohnhauses, nicht weit vom Ortsausgang von Kalo Chorio. Die Vermieter wohnen im Erdgeschoss, und sind für Fragen jederzeit zu erreichen. Die Wohnung ist vollständig ausgestattet, und bietet alles, was man braucht. Alles war sauber, gepflegt und funktional. Wir haben in der Gegend einige schöne Wandertouren unternommen, und konnten uns abends auf dem Balkon beim Blick auf das Meer erholen. Da die verfügbaren Parkplätze an der Durchgangsstraße liegen, sollte man das Mietauto nicht zu groß wählen.

Le logement est très bien et Antonis est très réactif. Nous avons été très bien accueillis. La villa est bien situé et Antonis nous a fourni des recommandations de restaurants et d'activités.

Pasiphae House was something out of a dream! It was beautifully designed in the traditional Crete Village homes style. The location is isolate in the mountains, but amongst a great community of people. We were greeted by Yianna and Koula that gave us the walk through of the house, and we're always in constant communication. Ioanna supplied us with a long list of things to do and try in the area which we took full advantage of. Overall it was a beautiful stay and would highly recommend.

A really enjoyable stay at Platankia. It was extremely well equipped and had everything you would need and more, only thing that would help would a microwave - the kids really enjoyed the toys that were in the beach basket and kept them entertained without the need for a TV etc. Be warned wifi is a bit slow but great if you want to disconnect from the Internet for a while. Some really great restaurants, would recommend Vespas for Pizzas and Vitsalo is great for seafood. Everyone in town is extremely friendly and kind and Myrtos is always contactable if you have any other queries. We enjoyed being able to pick oranges and lemons and made enough lemonade to sink a battleship! I really enjoyed the hmock and the slide and swing is great for children. It is extremely private as you have large greenhouses on both sides but at the same time it is super easy to walk into town. Overall I would definitely recommend this place and would come back. The gorge is worth seeing and lots of other stuff

Perfect little apartment overlooking the sea and the port. It was spotlessly clean and just like the pictures. Just a short walk to the harbor for restaurants and beaches.

Le choix de ce logement, certes "dans son jus" mais tres propre et fonctionnel a contribué à rendre notre séjour magique. Nous venions cherché le dépaysement , nous l'avons trouvé. Super emplacement pour découvrir toute cette partie est de la Crete. De sitia (Moni Toplou), Vai, à Zakro et la Vallée des mort. Charmant arriere pays montagneux. Superbe moment à Mochros egalement

Wij logeerde 10 dagen in dit heerlijke huisje. Een prachtig terras, fijn bed, gezellig huis waar alles was wat we nodig hadden. We waren er in de winter dus helaas niet veel op het terras kunnen zitten. Dorpje is schattig en klein met allemaal vriendelijke mensen en heerlijke authentieke tavernes. Thank you ♥️

We (father, two children) booked Yanna's house for 9 days in April 2025. Yanna and her husband Yiannis gave us a warm welcome, and check-in was very easy. The house is beautifully situated on a hillside with an east-facing view toward the sunrise. You quickly learn to appreciate breakfast on the patio! The house was very clean, equipped with everything you need, and had comfortable beds. The highlight is certainly the outdoor area, which has been lovingly designed. The old coastal road is below the property, and traffic can be a bit annoying during the day on weekdays. However, it is quiet at night and on the weekends. A car is essential; it's a 10-15-minute drive to Agios Nikolaos (pleanty of restaurants and supermarkets). Yanna can give good tips for restaurants in the area. Cretan hospitality is well known, but Yanna and Yiannis have taken it to the next level!

Уютный и просторный загородный дом в оливковой роще в котором есть всё необходимое для комфортного пребывания. Кухня оснащена всем необходимым для приготовления пищи, спальня и детская с удобными кроватями и большими шкафами для хранения вещей. Уютная веранда на свежем воздухе, где приятно провести как завтрак так и ужин. Отличный WiFi как для работы так и для учёбы ребёнку. Дом немного удалён от города, что позволяет наслаждаться тишиной и умиротворением…но в то же время на автомобиле до центра Ситии 5 минут езды. Владелица дома Ники и её муж очень приятные и гостеприимные люди, всегда с вами на связи и делают всё, чтоб ваше пребывание было максимально комфортным! Мы остановились здесь на месяц, но уже мечтаем вернуться сюда снова!!!❤️

The house was wonderful, a lovely design and much larger than we'd expected, and beautifully furnished. All the rooms (of which there were many) were a good size, so for the four of us we had a lot of space. The views were spectacular, from all the terraces, balconies and the upstairs living room, and the swimming pool was a good size, approximately 7m x 4m and 1.6 deep throughout. Comfortable beds, clean white towels and bedding; everything was spotless. The house is at the end of a track and although there are a few other houses around it was very quiet and no passing traffic. Michael was an excellent host, living next door he was available but not obtrusive, responded quickly to our queries, and he gave us some good suggestions where to go. We'd love to return!

Audrey was really helpful sorting out transfers and a shopping for when we arrived. The villa and pool area is decorated to a very high standard. We would thoroughly recommend visiting it is a great holiday location

Well where to start!? First of all some context - we have been lucky enough to have holidayed in some amazing properties over the last twelve years or so, all across Europe: France; Portugal; Italy; Spain. But this experience has outshone them all. This property is utterly breathtaking: well appointed, tasteful, clean, the facilities and amenities were far beyond our expectations: Acres and acres of private outside space, like a garden of Eden - lovingly maintained, with a multitude of very special, unique, and varied spaces to suit any mood. An extensive outdoor kitchen, take your pick from barbecue, wood stove, and pizza oven… Inside we found perfectly furnished, super fast WiFi, two modern big screen TV’s with all bells and whistles, super cool remote control air conditioning in every room, 3 x WC’s 2 x bathrooms, washing machine/utility areas, 2 wonderful bedrooms, and the swimming pool is by far the best that we have ever experienced. An honour and a privilege to stay here.

We booked the apartment as the second week of a two week stay in Crete. We do not usually stay in multi apartment complexes but we were booking late and choice was a little limited. We were a little worried that the complex might be busy and noisy but this could not have been further from the truth. The accommodation exceeded our expectations and we would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area. South Eastern Crete is a little slower and quieter which we liked, but the apartment is still in walking distance to some lovely family tavernas, mini markets and beaches. The apartment was a good size, with everything we needed, and great aircon. All bedding and towels (including pool towels) was provided. The pool was clean, large, cool and lovely. Off street parking was provided. We would recommend this apartment to anyone exploring Eastern Crete - lots to see and do, some great beaches and fab places to eat.

Ein tolles altes Haus am Rand eines kleinen Dorfes, ruhige Lage, toller Ausblick von der Terrasse auf das Dikti-Gebirge. Schöner, nicht einsehbarer Garten mit tollem Pool. Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet, es fehlt nichts für einen entspannten Urlaub. Im Dorf gibt es zwei Tavernen, zwei kleinere Supermärkte sind in Tzermiadon zu finden. Perfekter Standort um die Lassithi-Hochebene zu erkunden und viel vom Landleben abseits der Touristenpfade mitzukriegen. Bei Ankunft standen für uns Snacks, Obst, Milch, Saft, Wasser und Wein bereit. Maria-Ioanna war immer erreichbar für Fragen und alles rund um die Buchung. Auch ein Problem mit der Pooltechnik wurde innerhalb weniger Stunden behoben, so dass der Badespass weiter gehen konnte. Check-In und Check-Out waren äußerst einfach. Ein entspannter Urlaub war es. Das Haus ist sehr zu empfehlen für alle, die das Besondere schätzen.

Great communication from Anna who met us personally and provided helpful online guide. Stayed in apartment 10, whilst compact it was comfortable and had everything we needed and beautifully decorated. The location is up a hill with fabulous views from the terraces and pool area. Clean pool and warm enough to swim in mid May. Designated parking a short walk from the apartments. Lovely shaded garden terrace as well where we had breakfast enjoying the view and the cats! Highly recommend and would stay again

Hemos pasado unos días de vacaciones estupendas en este alojamiento. La casa es preciosa y está muy bien equipada. El baño recién reformado y las camas muy cómodas. Perfecta para una familia. Muy cerca de la playa y de varios restaurantes. Es un sitio ideal para descansar y relajarse. Sofia ha sido muy amable y nos ha ayudado en todo momento. ¡Volveremos!

We loved it here. We booked at short notice and paid a really reasonable price. the grounds of the hotel are beautiful. the pool is a salt water pool, which is a bonus. The view from both balconies was lovely. a great place to unwind after a hard day at the beach. Location is just off the main road....but mot close enough to know about it...feels very secluded. We had a lovely holiday. Christos was really helpful and friendly. Thanks so much!!
