Vacation rentals with a pool in Makry Gialos

We (a family with two kids, aged 5 and 2) really enjoyed our stay with Mpampis. The apartment is modern and has everything you need. The private pool and the courtyard were absolute highlights, especially for our kids. The beach is just 50 meters away. It’s a sandy beach in a quiet bay, which makes it perfect for families with children. Mpampis is a great host — he always responded quickly and gave us helpful tips for restaurants and beaches. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Two friends and I just returned from a 5-day stay at Pantelis’s place, and we had an amazing time. The apartment’s location was perfect—right in the heart of town, with plenty of bars and restaurants at your doorstep, and just a 5-minute walk to the beach. One of the highlights was the newly added rooftop area with a jacuzzi pool, which truly elevated our holiday. It’s been finished to the highest standards, with thoughtful touches throughout—comfortable seating, shaded areas, music, and a great overall atmosphere. We’ve stayed in many Airbnbs over the years, and this was by far the best. The apartment itself was very well-equipped, with air conditioning in every room, and luxurious extras like robes, slippers, high-quality towels, and bedding. They even stocked the place with essentials, which was a lovely surprise. Huge thanks to Pantelis and Despina for being such great hosts—we’d absolutely recommend this place and would love to come back in the future!

Snorkelling paradise! Nikos and the Stone House were both great. The house is small, but has everything you need, with the pool and BBQ area where we spent most of our time, and the steps down to the sea lead to a perfect spot for snorkelling, where we saw all sorts of types of sea life. Nikos was there with everything we needed, including recommendations of beaches / restaurants etc. Ierepetra is a much nicer town than people say and the Stone House is a 5 minute drive into town. You could walk, but we didn't. Would highly recommend!

Our stay with Alexis and Nina was really fantastic and exceeded all our expectations. From the first moment we felt very welcome: we were warmly welcomed with a coffee, something tasty and a warm welcome full of enthusiasm. Alexis and Nina took extensive time to provide us with valuable tips about the area, which made our stay even more pleasant. The accommodation itself is beautiful – stylishly furnished, sparkling clean and equipped with every comfort. Everything we needed was present, and it immediately felt like a comfortable home away from home. Whenever we had any questions, Alexis and Nina were always there for us with quick and friendly help. Thanks to their recommendation we rented a car and enjoyed two great days in which we could explore the area at our own pace. Their local knowledge and commitment really enriched our trip. Fantastic house, just like in the pictures. Harry was very friendly and gave useful tips around the area. Car is neccesary. Beautiful pool and quiet surroundings. Lovely goats nearby. Cant wait to get back!

We had a super time with Stefani and Antonis. The villa is super, the pool was warm, the area quiet, and the view down to Herssonios and out right to the mountains was lovely. We chose it because it was walking distance to some shops and restaurants. The village is lovely and a short 5-10min walk from the villa. We were at the very end of the season, so many of the restaurants in the village closed, but we always found somewhere to eat. Herssonios is a longer walk away (maybe 30 mins) and has supermarkets, pharmacies, and restaurants galore, even after the season ended. We found the walk downhill to the town, and back uphill to the village fine, even with 2 kids. Herssonios itself didn’t hold much charm for us, but we found a taxi to Agios Nikolas (delightful), Heraklion’s museum (more engaging for us than the Athens archeological museum), and Rethimno (lovely old town, laneway cafes, long stretch of beach) filled enough of our days. And with a heated pool to return to, no complaints.

As a couple staying here, we can recommend for a quiet and relaxing stay. Everything is as advertised: simple but clean. The terrace offers privacy and is surrounded by olive trees. Restaurants are on walking distance, as is the beach (20 min) if you can cope with the steep hill. As almost everywhere in Crete, a car comes in handy for any other trips.

We loved this home. The huge terrace and view are so amazing. We spent lots of time on the nice patio furniture outside enjoying it. We also loved the pool. You can walk to a few spots in the area for dinner and we really enjoyed the patio bar at the hotel next door. Fun spot. Across the street was Pegasus Dive and boat rental. It was so nice to walk there and rent a small boat to see the town from the water. The town is really nice and the perfect size place to explore. We spent a week here and another week in Chania area. The room was nice and big, view from the balcony was really beautiful, pool was great and the location was the best. You can find everything you need in Istro - shops, tavernas, beautiful beaches. We loved it and we can certainly recommend!

We had a lovely stay. The apartment is well equipped, walkable from old town and beach. Totally recommend!

Our family of 4 had a great time at the villa Feronia. Catherine and Manolis left wine and beer in the fridge as well as all the basics needed in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry corner. The Garden and the pool area is duper nice and well equipped too. As the weather was cool end of October, we used the jacuzzi instead of the pool. Arrival and departure were smoothly organized. Catherine reacted promptly whenever we had a question. We would definitely come again !

Thank you Mark and Maria you have a beautiful place I can recommend it to anyone. I did enjoy my holiday in your apartment which is close to main high street with shops and restaurants and had everything I needed while being away. My bed was clean and comfortable in the kitchen there were all utensils and cooking equipment to make my own meals.
