Alexander's place was exactly as we had expected. My family loves animals and the idea of staying on a sustainable farm was very appealing to us to learn about the farm and also the culture. This community is a place that still uses bartering as a form of exchange and is tucked in an authentic neighborhood that is off the beaten path. We felt so grateful to find this farm and enjoy a true cultural experience in Costa Rica. Don Carlos was an amazing host and he made this experience one that we will never forget. Although we do not speak fluent Spanish, we were able to enjoy the time together very much and would welcome him to our home should he ever visit where we live. In a time of too much technology, this experience showed my children the capabilities of humans doing real work and working to preserve land and communities that are the backbone of our world and every society. After flight into Liberia, we were on the road to Sarchi to purchase furniture. Ana's place was an oasis of calm, with a delicious breakfast at a reasonable price. Although slightly off the highway, her directions, including photos and a map, could not have been more accurate or reassuring for a traveler arriving after dark in a country where map apps are not always reliable. The container we stayed in was simple but beautifully maintained. And the price was more than fair. Above all, Ana is kind and genuine appreciative of her customers.

Loved Casa Hormiga! Cute, quaint, hut was the perfect place to start my time in Costa Rica! So sad I missed out on one night with airline delays. Jose is so friendly and a wonderful host! I opted for a craniosacral massage service and to go see the 500 year old tree up the street. It was a glorious day! He also gave other wonderful recommendations of things to do/see in the area.

I slept great even though there wasn't air conditioning. there are multiple fans and the area is pretty well shaded. very pleasant space and amenities
