Hostel vacation rentals in Kyoto

We really liked the accommodation and totally recommend it! Our room was modern and comfortable, we loved spending time in the huge and very well equipped kitchen and also the common room on the 3F was amazing. The hosts gave us an introduction of the area and lots of tips where to go. We had a sink in our room, the shower and toilet were ouside and shared with other guests, there was even a washing machine which was free to use. The only downside is because of the thin walls the whole house is a bit noisy.

Was a great experience staying in a traditional guesthouse. The hosts were lovely, cafe was great, and our room was clean, tidy and full of character. Shared facilities (kitchen, toilets, showers) were all very basic and old but were clean enough and did the job. Definitely worth the compromise to experience staying a few nights in a traditional Japanese room! We arrived 15 mins early and were told we had to wait to check-in. Not a major issue as we just sat in the cafe and had a coffee but seemed a little unnecessary as the room was clearly ready (and we were clearly exhausted!) Thanks Team Gojo!

It's an amazing accommodation that's also very comfortable! You will learn more about the good restaurants (including bakeries) and also must-see/experience of the surrounding area during the onboarding session 😁 The wall and floor is a bit thin (which I heard is common in japanese style housing) so if you're a light sleeper, it might be an issue (but I sleep like a log so personally it didn't matter to me😬) There's also a shared space on the first floor (kitchen) and 3rd floor (kinda like a library? unfortunately I didn't get to spend time to look around when I stayed though) Thank you Nana, Yusuke, and everyone at the Expo Cottage & Hostel 😁

This is a hostel but not like any hostel in USA. So clean, private, safe, and comfortable. Wang greeted us and made wonderful recommendations so we went to he Monkey Park (WOW) amazing views in their habitat and views, then Hot Springs and Bamboo forest all within walking distance. Ate and drank and local places recommended that we would never have found. Next day - took Uber to Golden Temple. Such a short stay but did so much. Thank you Mulan and Wang! Highly recommend.

Especially clean and comfortable, especially the shower room and bathroom are very clean, the surrounding transportation is also relatively convenient, the front desk staff are super cute and enthusiastic, I like it ~

Wonderful place to stay in Kyoto! The hosts made sure to provide us the warmest welcome by explaining us the area and giving us recommendations. Their kindness has been outstanding. The room is very private (you can lock the door) and beautiful! We loved the morning sun light and the warm colors of the room! We will recommend this place to everyone who wants to visit Kyoto!

This accommodation is very clean and located near to public transportation. The host is very responsive and provides helpful information. Highly recommended!

Stayed here for 4 nights in the female dormitory. I loved the place, surrounded by green fields, mountains and it was quiet and had a great weather to walk around. It was a bit far from the station (Omi-Maiko Station) like 15-20 minutes walk. There are not a lot to do around, but it was easy to take the train to Nara and Kyoto. I loved the hostel, it had everything I need. It has a restaurant in the first floor. They do sell snacks/food in the reception. I recommend staying here if you like the countryside vibes.

It’s a good place to live many days, if you want to stay with Kyoto, here is more quieter and easy going to walk the north of temples. And masa is very nice and friendly, if you have any questions.

I liked the most that it had individual heating. It was warm. Instead, it was dry, so body lotion and toner packs are essential! You changed the towels every day, so I slept with them spread out.👍 The check-in and messages were very friendly. I had a really good stay alone for a low price, so I definitely want to use it again next time: D

The hostel is very neat and clean. Pods are spacious and good enough for one person. The staff were friendly. The location is very good. The shower will be closed for cleaning between 10AM to 3PM. I anyway used to have shower in the night. Overall , im happy with my stay.

I stayed one night here and it was exactly what I expected and the way it is described in the listing. I was happy w my stay. Most notable was the very kind, open, friendly, helpful staff. The evening and morning I was there, the vibe seemed very light and nice—guests and staff alike.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. Really friendly and kind hosts. The facilities like showers bath etc are all super clean and everything you need. It’s not too big of a hostel so peaceful and bed was perfect. It has a restaurant attached which guests get discount at and it’s cheap and great food. You can also eat your own food or just sit and work there. What really makes it is Junko and the other hosts, they are so friendly and helpful. The area is also great, much less hectic and touristy more calm and local
