This is a very cute 1 BR/1 bath cottage overlooking the sea - the view is fabulous from the lanai. There is a sofa bed as well, that can sleep 2 smaller framed people. Includes linen/ towels/ soap is provided. The cottage is across from Kehena Black ( bathing suit optional) Beach and close to the Pohoiki Beach, thermal ponds, lava fields. A/C in bedroom, 1G Fioptic WiFi , landline, Netflix, washer/dryer w/ soap as well. MW and toaster oven in utility room just 15 ft. from cottage.

This all-concrete house is ocean front and perched on a lava cliff at Kehena Point. The Point sticks out into the ocean further than the surrounding lava cliffs and offers unparalleled views of the coast in both directions. Peaceful suite with private entry with full ocean view on a cliff overlooking Honolii surfing beach and Hilo bay. Situated on the beautiful Hamakua coast just 5 minutes from downtown Hilo with beach access to Honolii several minutes away and the beautiful beaches of Hilo, 15 minutes away. There are many waterfalls nearby, as well two volcano’s and the summit of Mauna Kea, all within an hour!

This was a great place to stay. We especially enjoyed the sound of waves crashing and the ocean view both from the sitting area in front of the large window and from the bed in the room. We could sit outside and watch sea turtles swimming in the surf and occasionally whales surfacing .

Chase’s place was the perfect home base for our family of 4 who wanted to experience both VNP and Hilo. The location was spectacular with sounds of the ocean, amazing views, and proximity to the sights we were hoping to see. We did excursions to see Mt Kīlauea erupt (😮), check out Hilo and the black and green sand beaches. We even got in a good hike by the house and had a great meal at Kaleo’s. Chase was a great host and his house and property were pristine!

We are so glad we started our vacation on the Hilo side. Super close to Rainbow Falls and only an hour to Volcano National Park. You can literally cross the street and take a dip in the water. It’s also close to all the restaurants. We loved this home. Plenty of room for everyone and privacy. We will remember this stay!

Lovely place. Very clean and island modern style. Facing the ocean with beautiful views. The host had put together a great list of things to do and restaurants nearby. Very courteous and friendly host. The property is located at the end of a small unpaved road and you wonder if it’s the right way. But once you get inside their gate, it’s just different and beautiful.

The rental unit was easy to find and enter. It was clean and well furnished, perfect for two people. Although we drove from Kona, it was also located near the Hilo airport which does make for quick transfer if flying in. All in all, we had a good experience.

We had a very pleasant stay at Terry and Amber's place. The location was great to access the main attractions in and near Hilo (Volcanoes National Park, Rainbow and Akaka Falls, Tropical Gardens, several beaches, among others). The building is located next to Carlsmith Beach Park, one of the most popular beaches in the area great for swimming, relaxing and doing some snorkeling, and across the street from The Seaside Restaurant, which we enjoyed a lot. Otón (the building manager) is a very friendly person, helpful and very responsive. The beds in both bedrooms were very comfortable, although they are definitely taller than what we are used to. Last but not least, the view from the balcony is amazing, especially if you are fortunate enough to see a rainbow on the north side of the coastline.

We had an amazing stay at this truly unique home! Built in Bali and shipped to Hawaii, the house is a masterpiece of wood craftsmanship, blending traditional Balinese architecture with the natural beauty of its surroundings. The intricate open-air design, and thoughtfully curated details made it feel like a tropical retreat unlike any other. The atmosphere was both peaceful and inspiring, with plenty of space to relax and take in the stunning private environment. Everything was well-maintained, and the hosts were welcoming and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind experience with cultural charm, this is the place to be. We would absolutely love to return!

Hilo Bay Oceanfront B&B (Suite #1) Premier King

This wonderful B&B has it all - great location, great ocean view, great food, and great amenities! Just a two minute drive from the center of Hilo, you could walk there but there’s also a convenient and free public parking lot that’s a straight shot from the B&B. Hilo makes such a great base location for exploring Volcanoes National Park and the Hamakua Coast. We’re so glad we chose to spend multiple nights at this B&B. The ocean is literally a yard from the edge of the B&B. With open windows you can enjoy their relaxing sounds all night long. We had the unique opportunity to stay in two different rooms. Both were comfortable, with great mattresses, plenty of pillows, and a day bed in a sitting area. The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a sliding barn door. Cheryl’s breakfasts are almost worth the price of the stay alone. We loved her signature fruit arrangement, and were able to try all three menu choices. My favorite was the rainbow French toast; Cheryl also provides a wide variety of syrups and sides to make sure you never leave hungry. She’s also very flexible with what time you eat in the morning - we saw her serving other couples as early as 6:30 and as late as 9. What really differentiates the experience at her B&B are the small touches she lets you borrow for free - ice packs for your cooler, umbrellas (a must have on this rainy side of the island), beach equipment, binoculars, even flashlights. Plus free snacks and drinks galore, which were perfect for a day of hiking or drive touring. With just a few rooms, Cheryl maintains a quiet atmosphere. If you’re looking for a peaceful place to come back to after tropical adventures, look no further. This is a tremendous place to stay in Hilo.
