We renovated an old inn on the hill at the exit of the tunnel famous for being the setting of Yasunari Kawabata's novel "Snow Country", where "it was a snowy country after crossing the long tunnel at the border", and we offer the same old Japanese room as it was then. An Indonesian family who moved from the coral reef island of Bali, a country of eternal summer, will host you while you look out the window at the Tanigawa mountain range and the hot spring town of Yuzawa below. It is one of Japan's leading ski resorts in winter, with wild vegetable picking in spring, tennis and mountain climbing in summer, and autumn foliage in autumn, so you can enjoy it throughout the four seasons. This is an inn that has been a regular lodging for climbers since ancient times, located in Tsuchiizumi Station, which is one of the three largest rock climbing areas in Japan, the Ichinokura Rock Climbing Trail at Mt. Tanigawa, and the back station of Doi Station (the next station after crossing the tunnel). This is a private lodging based on the novel "Snow Country", where the main character, Shimamura, meets Komako at the inn on his way down the mountain (of course, this is the story of the novel). In 2022, the owner, who is famous for his work, started making things for fun during the coronavirus pandemic, and completed the first tree house unit in Japan in the back mountain.　　Open-air baths and saunas on trees are attracting attention as the first attempt in Japan, and even in the world.

It is a quiet, small, cozy guest house. The deck is spacious enough for about 6 people to have a barbecue, etc. Please note that it may feel a little cramped for 4 adults. Since it is a mountain forest, there are insects, but we carefully control insects in the guest house. Please understand if they enter during your stay. If you are not good with insects, etc., I think you will have a little resistance, so please book with that in mind. In winter, it gets below freezing around here. Please note that the heating facilities in this guest house are mainly kerosene stoves and kerosene fan heaters. We also have electric appliances, but if you use too much, the safety device will work (smart meter) and the electricity in the house will flash, so please do not use a lot of electric appliances at once. An earth leakage meter is also installed. If the electricity flashes, please reduce the use of electricity.(Also, please contact us about rural living experiences, etc. We do our best to disinfect and clean after guests leave to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. Please use the entire unique house built by the owner, Haseyan, as a rental space. There is a living room with a wood stove, a room of about 20 tatami mats that is ideal for yoga, and also individual rooms. The garden has a huge roof just outside, and children can enjoy the many wooden playground equipment, trampoline, tree house, swing, etc. The accommodation fee is for the entire building. Up to 6 people can use it for the same price, but if there are more than 6 people, we will accept an additional 3,000 yen per person. Check-in is after 2 pm and check-out is by 10 am.
