Guest house Mökki is located in Shinano-cho, blessed with forests, lakes and snow in northern Nagano Prefecture. Nearby, there are many natural sightseeing spots such as Kurohime Highlands, Lake Nojiri, and Togakushi. A building from the development era, it has been stylishly renovated using plenty of natural materials such as pure cedar, hinoki cypress, and plaster. We also focused on the interior and kitchen utensils so that you can enjoy "living". In the winter, when it is completely covered in snow, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the snow-covered landscape. You can follow animal tracks on snowshoes and go on a snowy picnic, or enjoy a bonfire and BBQ in the riverside house in winter. There are also 7 ski resorts within a 30-minute drive. This area is famous for its powder snow, and is also a great base for skiing and snowboarding. There is also a birthday cake service for guests celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. Discounts for consecutive nights range from 10% for 3 consecutive nights to 17% for 7 consecutive nights. We charge 8,800 yen per cleaning, so it is definitely a good value for stays of 3 nights or more. From February 2026, a separate accommodation tax of 1,000 yen per person per night will be charged. Only indoor dogs are accepted. Assistance dogs are free of charge. Free rental of a small desk for work and a baby crib. Request at least the day before. 3-minute walk to the nearest train station. From there, it is 3 minutes to Fushimi Inari Station, 3 minutes to To Fukudera Station, 5 minutes to Shichijo Station, 14 minutes to Sanjo, 10 minutes to Shimizu 5 Chome Station, 12 minutes to Gion Shijo Station, and 14 minutes to Sanjo. Excellent access to the Higashiyama area. It usually takes 20 minutes to 1 hour to get to those areas by bus from Kyoto Station.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.
