Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Islesboro

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Samantha's place in Cushing. To say that she is "very responsive" would be an understatement. She typically responded within 10 minutes no matter what my question was. She lives a short distance away which really helped facilitate things. We had a minor issue with the Internet which required communication with the service provider, but she coordinated everything and resolved it right away. The house is totally charming - old, a bit creaky and adorable - and well maintained (no issues there). We imagined how great it would be to visit in wintertime and snuggle up to a roaring fire. They have an expansive yard with gardens great for a short evening stroll. Forest habitat behind the property was great for bird watching. The area is absolutely beautiful - quintissential coastal Maine. The Olson House (local attraction) is a few minutes drive from the house. The grounds have a walking trail along the water with fantastic views of the coast.

We came to Bar Harbor for the MDI Marathon, and this ended up the perfect location, just two blocks from the start line. Price-wise it was comparable to any hotels for the four of us and the full kitchen helped us save some time and money by prepping most of our own meals. Having laundry was a huge plus for a longer stay and being able to pack less. Everything was well-maintained and Sara gave us great info and local recommendations before our stay. Would definitely recommend!

This was the perfect rental for our family of 4 for the thanksgiving holiday. The home had everything we needed and wanted, great location within walking distance of so many great places in Rockland, and was clean and comfortable. Alicia went out of her way to provide recommendations for our stay! This is probably the best Airbnb we’ve stayed at and the most helpful host we’ve encountered. Highly recommend and thank you to Alicia and family for making our week so enjoyable while spending time with our kids on their college break.

Our stay was absolutely perfect. Robard did everything he could to make us feel welcome. We had a few questions given that we were visiting in the off seasoning and he always responded quickly and helpfully. His place was clean and cozy!

This was a great last minute find to base for Arcadia park day trips. The Airbnb matched the description, was spacious and comfortable with all the basics present (however it would have been great if there were wine glasses and a kettle but we managed). Overall a great stay!

We had an amazing time over valentines day weekend. There was a snow storm and Kent snow blowed around our vehicle to make sure we could get out. The house is very comfortable and peaceful, amazing view of the river and just off the road enough to not be bothered by passing traffic. Definitely recommend!!!!

"From my daughter: This is our 3rd trip to Acadia National Park, but the first time at this Air B&b. Originally it was supposed to be for 5 of us, but 3 couldn't make it, so it ended up just being my husband and I. The Air B&b is in a remote enough area that it is nice and peaceful, but still an easy 20-30 minute drive to almost anywhere on Mt. desert island. The house has so many thoughtful touches, like an area outside for a campfire, supplies for smores, basic seasoning and condiments, all the light switches labeled (so thankful for that!), etc. We did a grocery run our first day and came back to the house for almost all our meals. This was a cozy place and we'd recommend to anyone visiting Mt. Desert Island and would return here again if we come back in the future."

The home was very welcoming and accommodating for our family of 5. The views were spectacular at sunrise, sunset and during the snowstorm. Bald Eagles and hawks would land in the trees right in front of the house. Also, there was a skating pond down the street my family love to visit almost each evening. There was an alarm going off as soon as we arrived, Debbi was incredibly fast responding and sending someone to check it out clear it up. On the plus someone came and plowed the driveway after the snowstorm it was great. She left a basket of local food and my family ate it up. We are so thankful for our relaxing week and would love to return.

We sent our children to school and chose to stay here. It's close to the main road and also very quiet. The room looks bigger than the photos. There are amenities such as a refrigerator, microwave, induction cooker, etc., which is convenient for us to cook instant noodles and boil some water. You can see little squirrels in the snow outside when you lie in bed. It's very comfortable. I'm very lucky to be able to stay in this historic old house. The Host will respond promptly if there are any small problems. We will stay here again if we have the chance.

Our stay was fantastic. The place was clean and laid out nicely. It was also close enough and an easy drive to Acadia National Park. Highly recommend, and I would definitely come back and stay here again!

My family and I had another great stay at Kathleen’s. We arrived and were so grateful for a clean and comfortable stay. We cooked lobster and were so happy to see that Kathleen’s kitchen had everything we needed. Excited to go back a third time!

This sweet apartment was a true haven during a challenging time for our family. It was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully appointed—just what we needed while navigating medical appointments nearby. The host was kind, responsive, and flexible, which made a world of difference. We’re so grateful for the peaceful space and support.

Super fun place. Great for 1-3 People. I thought this place was perfect… no washer and dryer on site but there is a place down the street. Also no freezer which for me wasn’t a huge deal. I really loved the place great location. I would definitely book again.

This spacious place was perfect for a getaway! So close to restaurants , shops and Belfast Harbor walk, yet so quiet at night.

Mandy's place is a perfect location for exploring the Acadia area. It is a very short walk to downtown Ellsworth which is full of great restaurants, cafes, and a few shops. Mandy gave very clear directions for check in and check out and the place is exactly as described. It has a very open floor plan, large kitchen and dining area plus a washer and dryer. We have stayed in the Ellsworth area a few times and this is of the best places we've been. Will definitely check out availability when we return to the region.

We were very happy start to finish. The location was just so unique and incredible. Right on a working marina, but very quiet. Plenty to see and do nearby. Walk across the pier and buy live lobsters. Christie was extremely helpful and quick to respond when asked. Condo was very well done with plenty of touches to make it homey. A good value! If we come back to Maine, we’ll call her first.

We had a wonderful stay at Heather's condo. It was cozy, clean and the location was perfect! I would definitely recommend Heather's place to anyone looking to stay in Boothbay Harbor.

The location and size of the unit for our needs was perfect. The staff was very helpful, knowledgable and friendly.

Diane’s place was in my husband’s words…”nicely done! I, myself, thought Diane’s place was artistically decorated with fun touch’s in every room.

She made cookies the moment we checked in and delivered them to us with warm milk. Wonderful host with great knowledge of the beautiful Pemaquid region

Lovely, clean apartment with a terrific location! We highly recommend and hope to return soon--maybe even for Pumpkinfest again next year. Thank you especially for the extra blankets, that was such a kind gesture.

We had an excellent stay. Both check-in & check-out were a breeze. It was amazingly quiet & the bed was super comfortable. The apartment was light & bright even on cloudy days. We loved the location, easily walkable to cafés & restaurants, a big supermarket, & the train station. We did the nearby Androscoggin Riverwalk each day. We especially enjoyed Frosty's Donuts, the Broadway Delicatessen, & the wine shop Vessel & Vine. Though we didn't meet Spencer (maybe next time!), he's an excellent communicator who responded immediately to all of my messages. Thank you, & we hope to return!

We had a wonderful weekend at Derek's house. I have never seen an Airbnb with such a whole kitchen kit. The house is about 30 minutes away from Acadia National Park and has an easy access to all kinds of food at the town center.
