Karen and Greg are wonderful! They're very kind, friendly, helpful and insightful about everything to experience in Hakuba. The lodge is incredibly comfortable, peaceful and quiet, yet close to everything one would need. Ski shuttle stop is just a few steps away. We will definitely be back, mainly because of the fantastic hosts! I highly recommend!!

Amazing stay! Looking forward to returning. The staff was so friendly and helpful and answered all questions we had regarding the lodge, food nearby, shuttles, ski gear rentals, etc and offered a lot of recommendations. The lodge had so many amenities and the breakfast was great. The room was clean and comfortable. The food truck across the street was wonderful for a late night snack and hangout with the owner and other visitors. Would highly recommend staying here when visiting Hakuba

Chalet - 2 Futon beds - Share bathroom

I felt so lucky to have booked a room at Ado’s place. He was available at all time to assist and went above and beyond to help me after I had a bad injury on the 2nd day of my ski trip. He helped me move around, stay an extra night and also helped me get to my bus stop with all my luggage. I’d 100% stay here again knowing the service level.

Fantastic home and staff. Breakfast was a nice added touch. Would absolutely stay again. Understand that the bathroom and showers are communal which to a westerner like me took some getting used to.

Hakuba Bear's Lodge: King Room Cross-Country

MichaelRating, 5 stars2 months ago
My wife and I stayed at Bears lodge for our ski trip to Hakuba and had a really great experience. Everyone was incredibly friendly and happy to help with anything we needed. They went above and beyond picking us up and dropping us off at the bus terminal on arrival and departure. I would describe this home as a bed and breakfast style stay. You will be around others in closer proximity than you would a hotel but everyone is separated for their privacy with lockable rooms and plenty of space (considering you’re in Japan). We also used the TA-Q-BIN delivery service to send our skis which they graciously accepted before our arrival and had them waiting for us in our room. The lodge is also very conveniently located in the center of echoland with plenty of walkable restaurants and bars around as well as in very close proximity to the bus stops that pick you up and drop you off right at the base of whichever mountain you are looking to ski that day. There’s also a secure dry room for skis.
A spacious dining area is highlighted by a large wooden table with a smooth surface. Four bright orange chairs are arranged around it. Large windows provide ample natural light and a view of the snowy landscape outside. A wall clock and modern decor enhance the environment.

Good location just a few steps from Happo One. Helpful staff and fantastic breakfast every morning. Interior and décor is a bit dated and dingy, though.
A private bathtub made of wood is situated next to a large window, offering scenic views of lush greenery outside. Steam rises gently from the water, creating a soothing atmosphere. Natural light filters through, enhancing the serene setting.

Cozy place with great hosts and a friendly vibe. Pick up from the bus terminal was very helpful and they also can drop off at a nearby ski resort in the morning. The two border collies were also very friendly!
