Apartment vacation rentals in Hilo

This was an amazing Airbnb with great location to KTA. The place was very clean and looked really nice. The air conditioner was definitely a plus. I would definitely recommend this place to other people. However, like what other people mentioned, the footsteps upstairs was really loud and could be disturbing to those who are particular to sounds. Aside from that, this is a perfect place for a vacation rental!

The stay with Robynne was amazing! It's rare to find such a great host and such an incredibly cosy and super clean Airbnb. We would have loved to stay longer. We couldn't have imagined a better stay. It felt like home. We also got to meet the two huskies and they were super cute. All in all: 10 out of 10!! Mahalo Robynne and thank you for your hospitality!

It was a perfect location for our Merrie Monarch trip! The place was clean and kitchen was well equipped. The complex was safe with security elevator and security personnel on site. Communication was spot on with check in instructions, quick responses, etc. thank you for a great experience. Mahalo nui

This cozy cute apartment with a fun balcony sitting area is in a great location. Christopher sent us some great restaurant and activity recommendations. It is close to down town and numerous parks and beaches. My husband enjoyed running in the estuary park next to the condo. The little pond with ducks running through the place was so cute. The apartment is on the third floor and little ways from the parking lot. We had a great stay and fun first time visiting Hilo.

The neighborhood was peaceful, the beds were very comfortable, all the information was clear, our host was highly responsive and kind. We had everything we need to make our stay wonderful

We loved our stay! The neighbors were so friendly, the location was perfect, you could walk to everything, we were so impressed! Whoever designed the condo, especially the kitchen, I want them to come do my house too!

Great location to explore Hilo, the volcano national park and the southern coast. The studio is cozy and comfortable. We appreciated the well equipped kitchen.

I think this place was better than described. The place has a lot of room for two people and has a full kitchen. It is very convenient- within 10 minutes from Hilo Airport by car and within a walking distance to parks and restaurants. Also from the shore rear of this complex you can go out on a boat ride. Overall we had a great time staying here.

Jennie welcomed us with a ton of great recommendations. The area is right in the heart of the strip, awesome restaurants and things to do right out the door. Highly recommend the Pineapple restaurant, the Friday night market, and Puna Chocolate Co right below the BnB. Hidden gems down the road - Shane Molina gallery “Hawaiian Mako Design” - do not miss if you’re a Star Wars or other sci-fi nerd. The BnB was exactly as described and very clean, no issues. Jennie was very responsive to questions and super friendly. Don’t skip on the recommendation board she has, if you have the time. I would give this BnB a 10/5 if I could, unfortunately I’m limited to 5.

Insane deal that I didn't believe it was true at the beginning. Massive house with huge garden right at the ocean, two mega king sized bed along with a queen and a twin should fit at least six for its size. I so regret staying for only one night cause we lived like kings. Felt like linving in a dream.

My week-long stay in Hilo was nothing short of magical, thanks in part to this incredible one bedroom unit. Nestled in the heart of this lush, peaceful town, the property offered the perfect balance of comfort and island charm. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed—the hosts were attentive, responsive, and ensured everything was set up for a seamless experience. The space itself was immaculate, thoughtfully designed, and equipped with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The outdoor seating area made for the perfect spot to soak in the beauty of Hilo’s natural surroundings. The location was ideal, making it easy to explore the quiet quaint town of Hilo. My fiancé and I were only there a night, but the proximity to Volcano National Park was unbeatable! We were able to drive to see the volcano while it was erupting very easily from this rental. Beautiful kitchen as well! I would highly recommend if you’re interested in staying close to the park!

The check in was extremely easy and accessible. Sam left clear instructions, and was very accommodating with the visit making you feel very welcome. The stay is right in the middle of town allowing you to enjoy the very heart of downtown Hilo. 10 out of 10 would recommend 👌.

Neddra and Daerick have a wonderful guest house surrounded by the beauty that is their personal rain forest! We definitely felt like we were at an island paradise with all the special touches... like sitting areas with picture perfect views of their gorgeous yard. We especially enjoyed the bathtub with jets after our long days of fun! The bed was very comfortable and we appreciated all the kitchen amenities. Very fun tropical getaway! We would definitely stay here again!

The apartment was amazing! Clean, quiet and comfortable with a view you can't beat!

After our original accomodation fell through, we booked Marcos' place for two nights. Marcos and his family are very friendly hosts who shared fruits from their trees with us, as well as kitchen items from their own house for us to use, including fresh jalapenos and hot sauce that we used for our dinner! The place was enough room for 2 adults and 2 children (aged 12) and has a very large TV. The only downside was that the bathroom was located outside in another building but since we were in Hawaii we didn't mind, it would be the same distance as walking down a hallway.

I have stayed here multiple times and always enjoy coming back here!

Diana was a very good host. the studio is good if you need shower and sleep. Location is close to alot of things. Will recommend.

Unit was as described and clean upon arrival. It had all the amenities that we needed and listed. The unit was older but so are many places in Hilo. It suited our needs and was close to everything. When in town again we would stay again if the unit was available.

Loved my stay at the gecko inn! Gets cool at night which is perfect for sleeping. Very comfortable and private area. 10/10 recommend! It’s minuets from the entrance of the national park

Nadia was an amazing host, the place was great, and we would happily stay here again if we return to Kalapana. We were two adults traveling with an infant to spend a month of our parental leave exploring the Big Island. The place itself was a quiet retreat with beautiful surroundings, and a garden where we could pick fresh lemons, limes and herbs. The neighborhood is peaceful and just a short walk to the Kehena black sand beach, or short drives in any direction to other tide pools or parks for ocean access on the rocky lava coast. The nearest big town of Pahoa is about 20 minutes away and had all the services you could need, including a nice market with lots of local, fresh produce and fish. The bigger city of Hilo is about an hour away with larger stores. The broader area is less touristy than other parts of Hawaii, but it still has a few eclectic spots to visit. If you're comfortable being off the beaten path and you like DIY travel, then you'll enjoy this place as much as we did.

My stay at this Airbnb in Hilo was delightful! The condo was spotless and well-stocked, including laundry supplies—a nice perk, though the laundry itself was pricey (app payment made it easy). The landscaping was breathtaking, with bamboo, palm trees, and waterways featuring waterfalls, plus ducks and fish adding charm. The pool was clean, but the chairs were worn, and there were no lawn chairs or tables. Inside, the seating was outdated and uncomfortable, though the AC units kept it cool. I’d suggest updating the poolside and indoor furniture. Despite these minor issues, it was a memorable stay—I’d return!
