great location, super quiet. could use more heating in the winter (bathroom & shower cold), but would totally stay again!

The place was amazing this is my second stay here and it’s still as amazing as the first time. The place is in a great location. Close to the station good restaurants and combini stores.

Eri was so beautiful! So helpful and the way she showed us around the home and her attention to detail was phenomenal! I even asked to stay an extra day because kyoto became my favorite place in all of Japan! Coming to Japan i was a bit disappointed with Tokyo, but i am so grateful for Koji and Eris gorgeous home and their recommendations. We rented kimonos and spent the whole day visiting local shrines and temples, all within walking distance. It was such an amazing experience. I will be coming back next year and am going to spend my entire vacation in Kyoto. Hopefully I will be able to stay at Tsubara house again!

Stayed 3 nights at this beautiful home. great location... short walk to the metro station and centre of Kyoto. The accommodation had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Very responsive host and would definitely stay again.

Great Machiya stay with a traditional feel, but with modern amenities such as heated floor! Also perfect location to explore Kyoto. Tokuji san was always very responsive during communications. Overall, highly recommended!

We came in April — 8 of us. This space was just perfect for our families. We especially loved the quaint neighborhood location. What a secret gem. We are all left wanting to move to Kyoto. Thank you for hosting us!

This spot feels like home away from home. Easy access to public transportation, lots of shopping & restaurant options, plenty to see & do right in the area. The home is tucked away on a side street in a residential area that’s quiet & safe. Only thing to note is the three bedrooms upstairs are connected with one way in / out but each room has a door that closes for some privacy. And both toilets are downstairs.

The location is fantastic — just a stone’s throw from the metro, and only 10 minutes to the city center. We really liked the area because it feels local and authentic, not touristy at all. The house is spacious, comfortable, well-equipped, and full of natural light. Niko is lovely and very thoughtful, which made our stay even better. If I had to mention something, a few things felt a bit worn, and the place wasn’t completely spotless, which we expected. But honestly, it didn’t affect our stay. I still totally recommend it and would definitely come back!

Very warm and helpful household (luggage room option). Good location (quiet and few minutes to Kyoto Station). Rooms very clean, spacious and cosy; beds very comfortable. Everything as described. I highly recommend it!

Our family of four recently stayed at Yamano Kyoto Residence for five nights during our first visit to Kyoto, and Yamano and his wife truly made our trip unforgettable. The house is exactly as described—spacious, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully equipped with all the amenities to make us feel at home. We had a very pleasant stay in this house. Very clean, well located, sufficient space for multi-families (we were 6 adults and 5 kids).

Such a lovely stay in Kyoto! After the hustle and bustle of Tokyo (and tiny hotel rooms), it was so nice to have a beautiful, quiet, calm space to spread out. A quick walk from the train station and the most perfect backyard is waiting for you with the nicest soaking tub. We ended up doing less than planned so we could enjoy the space more.

Obviously Jinn has a lovely home, but he is also an extremely gracious host. He was available to answer any and all questions and made us feel right at home in his space. The location is a serene and peaceful neighborhood which allowed us to enjoy parts of Kyoto we otherwise would have missed, while still being close to main attractions. I would recommend anyone to stay here, amazing experience.

spectacular place that ended up feeling like home at the the end of the stay. nice calming place for after all day exploring. authentic area where there weren't a lot of tourists. if you take a day off from exploring, there are close by (15 min) bus ride to great restaurants. about 15-18 mins from the 2 close by train stations. Just warning there is a walking bypass over the main road that helps you get your stairs steps in lol.

Yasuhiko san was waiting for us when we arrived and explained everything about the place in careful detail, and provided what turned out to be great recommendations for a bakery and a grocery store, both nearby. The staircase, as he warned us ahead of time, is quite steep -- my older friends preferred to stay downstairs; I used the upstairs bedroom and found it easier to use the staircase by walking down backwards like a ladder -- it is quite steep. The area is very busy with tourists, many foreign, and both the bakery and the grocery had more non-Japanese than Japanese when we visited -- I suppose this is to be expected so close to Gion. But in short, the place was wonderful, as was Yasuhiko.

May's place is conveniently located near Nishiti Market and public transportation. She was incredibly responsive and went out of her way to assist when I got lost. May personally messaged me directions, met me outside, and warmly welcomed me at the front door. An excellent host—I highly recommend staying at her place.

Our stay at Asami's was outstanding! The accommodation and the quiet neighborhood and close to nature allowed us to capture the real kyoteric life. Asami and Daniel helped us a lot with tips. They even gave their time to show us around the neighborhood and accompany us to the station with our suitcases. The two bikes available to us are a plus. But anyway, all the transportation, supermarkets and restaurants are nearby. I really recommend this place to anyone who would like a peaceful stay in kyoto.

I recently stayed at Saito’s place and had a wonderful experience! The check-in process was smooth and easy, and communication with the host was prompt and helpful throughout my stay. The place was thoughtfully furnished, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable visit. The location was perfect — close to one of the attraction, restaurants, and subway station, yet peaceful enough for a good night’s sleep. Overall, this stay exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone visiting the area. Thank you again, Saito, for being such a great host. A home away from home! Loved staying at Aika’s - cozy room, warm hospitality, and everything was neat and tidy. The location was great, within minutes on foot to the subway and good restaurants. Definitely recommend and would come back to stay here! Thank you, Aika! :)

Very satisfied with this homestay experience, Harry's house is so excellent, two floors above and below, the rest and leisure space is separated, equipped with projection and sound, and the lighting design in the house is also very cozy.The house itself is a very traditional Japanese house with a refined little yard, at the same time it is conveniently equipped with a very modern home appliance system. Harry is very nice, he came to the bus station to pick us up, and also recommended very authentic daily materials, and I will come to Kyoto again next time I come to Kyoto!

This is honestly my favorite place to stay out of the three cities. The host was incredibly helpful and thoughtful. The traditional Japanese-style house was warm and clean. It’s close to the bus stop and surrounded by convenient amenities. All in all, I really loved this place — and the lovely uncle who owns it too!

Great place to stay at Kyoto. House is large, even with a small private garden! Very clean and quiet. JR train station and 7-Eleven are within walking distance from the house.
