Villa 10 minutes from Sarlat – Heated pool & spa

Guillaume was incredibly responsive and very flexible with our check in time, as we were travelling with a baby. He also came as soon as possible, when we had issues with the travel cot provided. He made every effort to ensure the cot was working, which we appreciated. The location is lovely and peaceful and we loved the amenities available, including table tennis and the tennis courts. There were certain elements that were looking a little tired, such as the bathrooms and the pool was stained from a recent algae issue. The pool itself we did not feel was heated to 28 degrees, as mentioned in the listing. Lastly, we were asked to strip all the beds, sweep the floors and take the bins away - as well as cleaning the dishes, etc. Some of this we would have expected on checking out and would have done anyway. However we did feel we were asked to do more than you would normally expect, especially having paid a cleaning fee. Overall we had a lovely stay and Guillaume is a great host.

We travelled from Australia to be with our sons and their partners, who both live abroad, for Christmas. Patrick and Jacqueline’s place was so perfect for us. We felt completely comfortable and so at home. The area is beautiful and lots of places to see and things to do. We cooked at home most nights and the kitchen is great for that. The wood stoves in the kitchen and living room kept the house so wonderfully warm. We definitely would recommend Patrick and Jacqueline’s place. Thanks to both of you.

Authentic Dordogne residence

Veronique's house, situated in the small village of Montagrier, is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and is well kitted out. As we were only two people, some of the house was shut off, but it's huge and we had masses of space. We didn't make use of the swimming pool or garden as the weather was just turning during our week there, mid-September, but we did enjoy sitting out on the terrace for breakfast. Veronique was quick to answer any queries we had before our stay, and Jemma, her concierge, was there to greet us, show us around when we arrived, and available if we needed anything. This is a beautiful part of France (I spent my childhood here and love it), but it's worth noting that from September, local activities like bike hire, guided walks, canoeing etc, are all closed until next summer and restaurants - particularly the one in Montagrier near the house, are offering limited service. Nevertheless we had a great time and Veronique's house is a lovely place to stay.

I highly recommend staying at Régis's. The place is beautiful, quiet, the house is large and well-equipped. Special mention for the terrace with umbrella, deckchairs, large table and a plancha! Ideally located in the heart of Périgord, within a reasonable distance of all the department's points of interest.
