Courtyard by Asapuwa

I have stayed at numerous Airbnbs, hotels, hostels, and homestays around the world, and Namal’s place is hands down the best place I’ve stayed so far. The art, the architecture, the garden, the library...it’s all stunning. It’s the perfect place to stay for any lover of art, literature, and architecture. His maid Chandra is a wonderful chef with a heart of gold who will always make sure you’ve got everything you need. Namal was out of the country so she helped me with transportation and local tips. There isn’t any hot water but you really don’t need it as Colombo is very hot year round and all you want is a cool shower after a day of sightseeing. The house is dripping in beautiful works of art, wondrous tapestries and sculptures from around the world, and scores of classic literature. I will definitely be back. Colombo isn’t the best part of Sri Lanka but Namal’s house is an artist’s haven in this crazy city. Do book your stay here. You won’t regret it.
The living area features a blend of traditional furniture and decorative accents. A low coffee table is surrounded by cushioned seating, including a patterned floor cushion and elegant armchairs. Natural light filters through the large windows, enhancing the room's inviting ambiance.

Padminee was a really very kind host. They welcomed us and prepared super breakfasts and gave us helpful information about places to visit. The room was nice and the fan allowed us not to feel the heat. They were really nice and helpful!

Colombo Modern Rustic Home

Nim’s place is located in a residential area. It is a very quiet place compared to the hustle and bustle of Colombo. If you’re looking to stay in a quiet and residential place, you should definitely stay with Nim! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at his villa. We arrived very late and made the mistake of taking a normal tuktuk to his place (there are metered tuktuk’s which are highly recommended for your wallet). Upon our arrival we were famished and food, Nim and Kasun looked into it quickly. Nim and Kasun are very helpful and they provided us with many tips about the transportation. They called tuktuks for us at the villa and even called one for us while we were at Dutch Fort. They made sure that the tuktuk Drivers got us to the correct location no matter the time. We are thoroughly satisfied with Nim and Kasun’s generosity and hospitality. Thank you!

Cosy Queen room above cafe - charming Colombo 7

Do not hesitate to book a stay here ✹ I am not sure what part of the experience was my favourite! It was my second stay at Black Cat and as before it was the perfect welcome to Sri Lanka. The team are friendly and helpful, the room and bed extremely comfortable, the atmosphere relaxed, the space beautifully curated, and the coffee delicious! We arrived on the night of a jazz evening and they even managed to squeeze a table in for us at the sold out event. They shared local recommendations (highly recommend the Sri Lanka Rustic Food Experiences cooking class with Nim) and the location was convenient whether you’re walking or getting a taxi/tuk tuk. The downstairs restaurant is ideal for meeting friends, catching up on work or just reading in the aircon or outside on the terrace. Cannot wait to visit again!
A small wooden table is set with a bottle and glasses on a private terrace surrounded by a lush garden. The terrace features folding chairs, and sunlight filters through the nearby doorway leading to the interior of the house.

Colombo 7 Gem: Boutique stay above cosy cafe

PaulRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Delightful hosts, lovely room at a great location and great breakfast. What more can you wish for! Being sustainable, being green, is more that just words here. Two of the local dogs are allowed to stay at the parking and when one littered, the lovely staff found homes for all pups! For me this is truly embracing and taking care of the environment in which you conduct business. It is possible to walk to the park and there a lots of nice restaurants near by.
