We had a great stay in the Little House! Check-in process was smooth, and the hosts were friendly and responsive. The space is cozy and light, and well-located to a number of parks, the beach, and town. Definitely recommend!

Our family's stay at Ocean Cottage was nothing short of incredible. The cottage itself is charming and comfortable, providing the perfect home base for our Block Island adventure. We were thoroughly impressed by the island hospitality, which made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The location is ideal, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the island's beauty and tranquility. We had a great time exploring the surroundings and making memories together. This visit reaffirmed our love for Block Island, once again, and Ocean Cottage played a significant role in making our trip so special. Thank you!

The Nest - Block Island

ElizabethRating, 5 stars1 day ago
I went to Block Island with my sister and my aunt and we had a GREAT time. Ania was an incredible host who not only was so nice and friendly but she went out of her way to provide us with a ton of recommendations from activities, restaurants and shops. The Nest was perfect for us! It was clean and had everything we needed and more. Downtown was an easy walk which was a huge plus for us. We truly enjoyed our stay and we look forward to booking again at The Nest next summer.

Beachfront Bliss-Spectacular Views-7/19 Fireworks

AnneRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Everything about this stay was perfect. Alex is a terrific host and his property is wonderful. The decor is tasteful and comfortable and the soft pastel blues and greens throughout the house are soothing. The wall of glass windows in the living room and master bedroom provide a fantastic view of Niantic Bay. (Looking out the bedroom windows, it feels like you're on a cruise ship!) The kitchen is well stocked and I really enjoyed cooking in it. Discreetly displayed "tags" inform you where things are throughout the house - like where the light switch is in the master bedroom closet. Alex thought of everything and I didn't have to think about anything except enjoying his lovely, peaceful home!
A three-story home with a shingle exterior is featured, showcasing multiple large windows that allow natural light. A porch extends across the first and second floors, and a small storage shed is visible to the right. Lush greenery surrounds the property.

Crescent Beach Location and Beautiful Sunset Views

KarenRating, 5 stars21 months ago
This is our third stay at this beautiful house on Crescent Beach. We love that the beach is a quick walk from the house. You can also easily walk or ride your bike into town. We love it and plan to go back next year!
The front porch features a vibrant American flag displayed on a pole. Bright, blooming hydrangeas in shades of blue line the porch, accentuating the white railings and inviting rocking chairs. The charming architecture is complemented by the surrounding greenery.

Lightburne House

JessicaRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Super cute spot! Great location, easily walkable. Porch was a lovely spot in the morning to enjoy coffee with water views. Living room is actually bigger than expected. So many art pieces and Block Island history! Would definitely stay again. There are stairs, so would not recommend for anyone with mobility challenges but was perfect for our group of three!

Your guide to Block Island

All About Block Island

Block Island is a quiet getaway off Rhode Island’s southern coast. Comprising just 10 square miles, it maintains a low-key atmosphere thanks to its small population (just 1,000 year-round residents) and expansive natural terrain. In 1991, Block Island was added to the Nature Conservancy’s list of Last Great Places in the Western Hemisphere, thereby protecting half of the island from development. It’s not untouched by the modern world, of course. The island’s town, New Shoreham, hosts a popular Fourth of July parade, as well as a competitive sailboat race and various outdoor events. But for the most part, the island is ruled by nature. Its dozens of beaches and hiking and cycling trails swell with visitors during the summer months, but come the shoulder seasons, Block Island can feel like an unspoiled hideaway.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Block Island

Block Island experiences an oceanic climate. It’s cooler than the mainland during the spring and summer months, and warmer than the mainland during the fall and winter months. Typical summer temperatures hit the mid- to upper-70s Fahrenheit, while winter temperatures are milder than the mainland, but only slightly. Winter temperatures can drop as low as freezing, though snow is unlikely.

Top things to do in Block Island

Old Harbor Historic District

With several dozen buildings dating to the early 19th century and one as old as 1750, the Old Harbor Historic District spans a handful of streets in downtown New Shoreham. Stroll the district to admire the centuries-old architecture, evident in personal residences, drug and retail stores, and places of worship.

Great Salt Pond

Nearly bisecting the island, Great Salt Pond stretches a little over a mile from West Beach to New Harbor. The narrow inlet on its northwest side allows small sailing vessels to enter from Block Island Sound, but for the most part, Great Salt Pond is calm, making it perfect for kayaking and dips in the water.

Block Island North and Block Island Southeast Lighthouses

There are two historic lighthouses on Block Island. They help guide ships to safety, but also provide visitors with places to hike to. On the northern tip of the island sits the North Lighthouse, surrounded by dunes protected by the Block Island National Wildlife Refuge. Wander out to the very tip, Sandy Point, for incredible ocean views. The Southeast Lighthouse is further inland than most lighthouses of its time (it was built in 1875). That’s because it was moved from its original spot in the 1990s, when erosion threatened its position on the cliffs.
