Smoking friendly vacation rentals in Argyll and Bute Council

This was our second stay at Marine Place within 12 months. The location couldn’t be better, ample safe off-street parking, within comfortable walking distance of Rothesay. The flat and all its facilities are a comfortable, well-maintained, clean and cosy place to stay in. We’d gladly return here and cannot recommend it highly enough.

We rented last minute on a family trip to Scotland and were pleasantly surprised from the start by Chris (: Chris was very quick and helpful from the beginning of the rental with very clear instructions! Arriving at the apartment, we were very happy with the spacious and organized place! A double bedroom and one with two very good single beds and a very comfortable space. The common room is great, as is the kitchen, which has all the equipment. We were very happy with the stay and highly recommend it. Thank you, Chris (:

Great little location for a short break

I had a wonderful stay at Sarah and Yorick's home that has been built with much thought and love. They have done a great job at carving out a safe space, which is further amplified by the vast nature and stillness at the doorstep. Meals using vegetables from the garden with other guests facilitated eclectic discussions and I learned a lot. A great wee get-away.

Linda is a wonderful host and has a lovely home. I immediately felt right at home. It is super close to the pubs, restaurants and shops in town.

Amazing place to stay. Beautiful and comfortable house, with everything you could possibly need for an amazing stay. Private and peaceful location. A comfortable drive to Fort William, with the gorgeous Port Appin right on your door step. Ewan was responsive and friendly, the perfect host. Couldn’t recommend enough, thanks Ewan !

I stayed 4 nights at the beginning of June 2025 at Rory's place. I very much enjoyed my time there and I would call it a real Scottish experience. We agreed on a time of arrival and Rory introduced me to Matt and the cat Sydney; he then showed me around the house. My room was large with panoramic views. The bed was comfy and the neighhourhood was very quiet. WiFi was reliable and fast. I usually used the kitchen in the morning to prepare my breakfast. Everything I needed (and even a bit more) was available and both Matt and Rory are always at hand when there are questions or help is needed. I especially enjoyed all sorts of discussions with Rory about Scotland and its pecularities. The location of the house is located a 15 minutes uphill walk from the train and bus station. There is even a local bus stop 2 minutes away from the house. Gourock is a lovely little seaside town with excellent public transport connections by train, bus and ferry for side trips in all directions.

I felt very welcome in Sarah and Yorick's home and enjoyed interacting with them and also other guests. The home is an on-going project following a lot of hard work to redeem the site of an old croft - now delightful and impressive in the diversity of creative activity, homegrown produce and holistic lifestyle both indoors and outdoors. A highlight was to see some Northern lights and an added charm was the team of ducks. I would highly recommend this to other travellers seeking a unique and peaceful location

Greg was a fantastic host—attentive, responsive, and always quick to help with any questions or small issues. He genuinely went above and beyond to make our stay smooth, memorable, and enjoyable. The house was clean, cosy, and well-equipped, with thoughtful touches like Netflix and all the essentials we needed. It’s ideally located just down the street from the beach and a short walk to the town centre, which made everything super convenient. Largs itself is a lovely, peaceful place to visit with family, and staying here made the experience even better. Between the location, comfort, and Greg’s outstanding hospitality, this was a perfect family getaway. A well-deserved five stars from us—we’d absolutely love to return!

Mhmm, was okay but wasn’t on beachfront as it says

We really enjoyed our two nights at Ardbrecknish. We stayed in the lower tower which made for easy access for my elderly father and mother travelling with us. It’s a big old property with loads of history and character and once worked out where all the light switches were we settled in fine! We all had a great meal round at the restaurant, everyone was really friendly and I tried one of their daily specials of the sweet and sour chicken, what a feed! Great value too. On our last night there was a bit of an issue with the cold water supply but the communication about it was excellent and it didn’t bother us much. All in all a great stay in lovely surroundings!

Beautiful location so peaceful with wonderful scenery. The place had been done up which was a lovely surprise very modern, clean and had everything we needed. Loved our stay, great location to explore and lovely to come back to at the end of the day !
