We had a wonderful and memorable stay at this place. Best part of the trip was knowing Chanaka’s dedication to provide the best hospitality experience and the pleasure he takes in hosting people at his place. The location is right near to main hikkaduwa road with everything within 10 mins. The property is a cozy villa with a lot of outdoor space and a beautiful rustic pool. The whole vibe is very Sri Lankan and Chanaka is a wonderful host who goes above and beyond to provide best experience during the stay.

The place was lovely, right on the river front and absolutely peaceful. Its also very close to the beach and we would definitely recommend the place. Somehow the tuktuk price around the area were pretty outrageous, so if you have a rented or owned vehicle, it’ll make things a lot easier but that’s not on the host, they were absolutely amazing.

Wow wow, we had an incredible stay! The housekeeper Ari and his wife amita were so so kind, the oceanfront location was impeccable, we had an issue with the electric, but thanks to Rebecca’s quick and helpful service it was taken care of promptly and professionaly, I would highly recommend this property!

It was a pleasure to stay here. We had everything we needed. Nihal helped a lot: with transfers, sightseeing, food, house, etc. We didn't have any problems. He's a great host! I highly recommend it!

We spent a whole month in this house and were delighted! Spacious, cozy, with a lovely chill area by the river where you can relax and enjoy nature. I especially liked the rooftop – the perfect place to do yoga. The kitchen is fully equipped, so it was convenient to cook. The beds in the bedrooms are comfortable, slept great. The beach is only a 5-7 minute walk and the surf spot in Weligama is about 25 minutes away. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we are grateful to the hosts for their hospitality!

If you’re looking for a private beach with the ocean, this is the place for you! Far from popular tourist spots, you’ll find peace and tranquility here. There are several oceanfront restaurants nearby. The staff is attentive, and excellent breakfasts were included!

The beach hut is a wonderful place to stay in a beautiful green location. The hut is basic but has everything you need, just a step away from the beach. The hosts are very helpful, and their restaurant across the street is definitely worth a visit. This place is highly recommended!

We have just got home after our trip to the Tropical Beach House in Hikkaduwa. What a totally lovely time away. Great communication with Gavin prior to the visit and out in touch with Darmith (house keeper) and taxi transport for arrival. We arrived at 2am to be met by Darmith and Saji (security) and felt at home straight away. Darmith had collected fridge essentials before we arrived so we were set up for the following morning. The house and gardens are lovely, the sound of the ocean 24/7 is just perfect and the house was spotlessly clean with good facilities. Sangrita helped to provide us with Sri Lankan breakfast foods, loved the Dahl curry and the hoppers but also gave us an awesome Brit breakfast of eggs and bacon! Chandra was on hand at night to cook a bbq which was tasty and varied. We used Tuk tuks to get out and about during our stay which were easy to find. Any issues we had were resolved quickly. Lots of local bars and eateries along the beach or further into Hikkaduwa.

Sahan’s beautiful airbnb is a little gem in Weligama. I would 100% recommend. He greeted us at check in and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The place itself and the pool especially are absolutely gorgeous! The perfect location for a little retreat. Thanks Sahan!

Fantastic place, beautiful pool and gardens. So easy to flow right from living area to pool. Not right on the beach but access very easy through adjoining vacant property of same owners. Staff super attentive. Lovely village of Ballapitiya only 5 mins walk up a quiet lane way, with a multitude of eating options. We loved this village as we seemed to be the only tourists, locals genuine and friendly.

Lovely stay at the Blues for five of us attending a nearby wedding. Spacious grounds with colourful bird life, lizards and monkeys swinging from the trees. Lovely pool, could have spent the week lazing on the sunbeds. The two ladies at the house were always discreet, helpful and even prepared a lovely Sri Lankan curry on our late arrival due to the plane being diverted. They even cleaned the bbq for us. The house was clean, very spacious and steeped in Colonial history. As for Janaka, I can’t praise him enough. He went over and above to help and support every thing we did. He organised taxis, Tuk Tuks and even drove us into the neighbouring town for a bit of sightseeing and food and drinks purchasing on our first day. He spoke excellent English and would interpret for us if required. Lovely people, great property and a beautiful country. Will return in the future.

Wonderful spacious place with fresh renovation and mesmerizing ocean view. Very easy to to contact your host and staff. Lots of places around, 1 minute to the ocean. There is a minimum set of detergents - shower gels and shampoos. Clean enough, but the kitchen is starting to feel a little musty. For this season, it can look a little expensive and I want to expect more details at this price category - slippers, bathrobes, toothbrushes, more towels, shaving accessories, but these are more points for improvement, still this is an apartment, not a hotel. 11/10 :)

We had a wonderful stay at Catherine’s cottage. Location was good; walkable to the beach. It is hard to fully explain just how spacious the cottage is - every room is large and well thought out, even the outside veranda is enormous. The children loved the little pool, it was absolutely perfect to end our Sri Lankan adventure. Thank you.

We had a truly beautiful and relaxing stay. Kavinda our host went above and beyond for us, and the chef’s cooking was absolutely perfect—they even shopped for all the ingredients! The villa’s rustic charm made it feel extra special. Though the beach hut had some weather damage, Buddika let us know in advance and kindly offered a BBQ, which was such a thoughtful touch. Sadly, we were involved in a serious accident on our way to the airport, but even from abroad, Buddika supported us incredibly—liaising with Etihad and sending her husband to visit us. Despite the unfortunate end, our stay was truly wonderful, and we highly recommend it.

We stayed at Pasan's hotel for 5 nights. The complex is beautiful, the garden very well maintained, the palm trees on the beach make a beautiful picture and also the pool was great. The room and bathroom were sufficiently big and clean. The staff, who were on site from morning to evening, was very friendly and we got very tasty food. We felt very comfortable. The three other rooms were also occupied by guests at times, but overall it was very quiet, you can only hear the waves rushing. Unfortunately, you can't swim in the sea due to the high waves, but there is the pool for that. We would definitely recommend the hotel.

Good place for family holidays. They have a chef who will plate some amazing food.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful villa, located right on the serene and picturesque Talpe Beach. The calm, crystal-clear waters were perfect for calm bathing, and we were lucky enough to spot massive turtles every morning! We loved the option of cooking for ourselves, and the fully equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals. The vibrant markets in Galle, just a 15-minute drive away, offered an incredible variety of fresh seafood, fruits, and vegetables, which was a real treat. If you prefer, Anjalee, the lovely housekeeper, is also available to cook you breakfast. The villa was impeccably clean, and the communication with Jack was seamless and clear from start to finish. It was the perfect place to unwind, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

We spent a wonderful 2 weeks there. The house is a godsend with its location, right on the beach, and its amenities. The residents in the neighborhood were all very friendly. The place is not yet a tourist hotspot, which we enjoyed very much. There is a train station in Ambalanghoda, so you can easily get to other cities. Otherwise, the usual tuk tuks run everywhere. Jay the housekeeper fulfilled all our wishes and was very accommodating. He cooked for us a few times for an extra charge, very tasty!

So, you’re obviously looking for accommodation in south-west Sri Lanka – well don’t look any further than Sailor’s Bay. From the minute you enter this paradise, you will be welcomed and charmed by Dilan and his family. The environment is gorgeous – any stress totally disappears. Nothing is too much trouble. They are engaging, and genuinely go out of their way to ensure that every second of your stay is a second to remember. Our family (13 – 3 generations – ages 2 – 74) was continually astounded by their willingness to do the best by us . It was a sad time when we left, but happy in the knowledge that we will return. So, take my word for it – Sailor’s Bay will not disappoint even the most pedantic traveler.

I stayed for two weeks at this beachfront villa in Ambalangoda, and it was an incredible experience. The villa is spacious, with large rooms and plenty of space to relax. Having a parking area was a huge advantage, especially for my rented motorcycle. Denuka, the host, was extremely helpful and responsive. He quickly addressed my requests via WP and ensured a smooth stay. Another highlight was Denuka’s uncle, who spends most of the day near the swing in the front yard. He is incredibly kind and always ready to help whenever needed. Exploring the surroundings by motorcycle was a fantastic experience—I highly recommend it. Overall, this villa is a great choice for anyone looking for a comfortable and scenic getaway. I would definitely stay here again!

I enjoyed every second of my stay with Eva at Kundala House. The energy there is beautiful, the surroundings are so peaceful and calming with the yoga shala and the gardens full of nature. Eva was consistently checking in to make sure everything was up to standard, even when she wasn’t even on the same continent. The rest of the staff around the property were all so friendly and welcoming also. The rooms are cleaned to an immaculate standard. I would choose to stay here again in a heartbeat.

We really loved our stay at Nalinda’s place. But if you are looking for a fancy, high-end place according to European or US standards, do not choose this one because you will be disappointed. If you are looking for an authentic and charming place with lively people who are super friendly and helpful, take a chance, because it is actually a great deal (never forget how much you are paying !). Nalinda is the best Airbnb host I have ever experienced: super communicative and great at giving tips and arranging transport. Sachin, the person responsible for the house and the tuc tuc, is great. He is the one driving you around and yes, he might be a bit more expensive than the guys you can stop on the street but then it is also super convenient to have a personal driver at all times. The garden and the pool are a definite bonus and there is a beautiful beach on the other side of the road (don’t get discouraged by the wrecked houses that you have to pass). This is authentic Sri Lankan living 💕
