Secret Garden Studio

GraceRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
My wife and I were extremely happy with everything about the studio. It was a cute little studio that had a comfy day bed and tv in one area, while the other area had a bathroom with a washer and dryer. Everything was super clean and all instructions were clear and easy to follow. Wynn and her dogs were super friendly as well! I will be recommending this place to friends!

Historic Capitol Landing 3BR/2Ba home

JessicaRating, 5 stars2 months ago
This house and property is really special. It is a beautifully maintained and renovated old house, and has great views of the woods and the creek. We enjoyed evenings on the beautiful porch taking in the views. The house itself was well appointed and clean, with minimal/essential furnishings. A few other reviews did mention the noise from the highway and it is true—though it did not disturb us except for in the night, when an occasional loud truck might pass. It was a great base for my family and two small dogs to explore the local sights. Would definitely consider staying here again.

The Bee Goode House on Main Street

LauraRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Loved the space at the Bee Goode residence. The downstairs space with the ping pong table and chess was a great addition. The location was also fantastic and just as described. We walked to several establishments downtown within a few minutes. Ms. Elizabeth made a few recommendations , which we really appreciated. If you can, try The White Dog Bistro in Matthews!

"The Little Red Cabin" aka The Galley

LeeAnnRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a wonderful peaceful weekend at the little cabin! Beautiful view of the water and right next to the beach was why we were drawn to this location. There was perfect space in the living room to set up our baby’s pack and play. The AC unit kept the whole house cool which was nice to beat the heat outdoors.

Marriott's Manor Club Ford's Colony 2BD Villa Slee

DorrenRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
The villa was the perfect place for our family to stay for graduation weekend at William and Mary. Plenty of space and very comfortable. Setting was lovely and great for walks in our down time. The only issue we had was the villa was not ready at the designated check in time and we had to wait an hour before we could get in.

Moss Side Manor

RyanRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
House and ground were beautiful! The vast estate was very well manicured and well kept. It was a unique house being 160 years old and having the kitchen in a separate house but did enjoy the time era furniture. House had been updated and was done well. Fireplaces in all rooms was awesome even though we only used the one in the kitchen as the pilot light wasn’t lit in the others. House had all of the items needed for a vacation and we would go back in the future if we are in the area.

Serene Sauna Retreat + Chefs Kitchen + Luxury Bath

RachelRating, 5 stars5 months ago
This home was the perfect fit for our large group of 14. We stayed over the Christmas holiday and the place was very accommodating! Larkin was very responsive and helped out immediately with any questions we had. The kitchen was fully stocked and all the beds were comfortable. There were plenty of towels and blankets, dishes, etc. for our entire group. The location is a small quaint town. The Blue Crab down the street had some delicious food but other than that there isn’t much around so you definitely need to hit up the store. The Food Lion is less than 10min away for groceries. Williamsburg is 30min away and Yorktown about 45min away- we visited both towns to explore. Overall a marvelous stay!

Your guide to Williamsburg

All about Williamsburg

Located near the Chesapeake Bay, Williamsburg was the capital of the Virginia Colony from 1699 to 1780. A century ago, John D. Rockefeller funded the restoration of hundreds of 18th-century buildings, and Colonial Williamsburg has since become a massive outdoor living-history museum. With hundreds of buildings to wander through, not to mention historical re-enactors to observe and craft shops to pursue, this getaway lets you immerse yourself in Colonial America. Remain in the past by attending Revolutionary War re-creations in Yorktown and exploring archeological sites in Jamestown, both a short drive or bike ride away. If you need a break from tricorn hats and petticoats, you can rent a kayak to explore the water trails surrounding Williamsburg, or seek out the area’s many golf courses, the Kidsburg playground, and chartered sailboats.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Williamsburg

Williamsburg is a year-round destination, with mild winters that rarely see snow, but the most comfortable times of year may be spring (March through early June) and fall (September-October). Springtime temperatures hover in the comfortable 60s and 70s Fahrenheit, and while June is the rainiest month of the year, the rains are far from constant.

Summer temperatures average in the high 70s and 80s Fahrenheit from May through August, and the humidity spikes during those months as well. Unless you’re determined to explore the city in period attire, light clothing will probably serve you well. The temperatures drop into the 50s Fahrenheit around October. From late November through February, chilly weather may shorten your time in the outdoor exhibitions, but it won’t stop them.

Top things to do in Williamsburg

Jamestown

Just 7 miles from Williamsburg, Jamestown is the site of a British colony founded in 1607. At the Jamestown Settlement Museum, you can board replicas of the ships that brought colonists to North America, or wander around a re-created 17th-century fort and Powhatan village, chatting with actors in costume. Not far away is Historic Jamestowne, where you can tour an archeological dig and watch glass artisans at work.

Freedom Park

History is everywhere in James County, including this 600-acre park, the site of a Revolutionary War battleground and one of the first free Black settlements in America. It also has 20 miles of biking and hiking trails, as well tree swings and zip lines.

Little Creek Reservoir Park

If you need a break from the historical sightseeing, escape for a day to this 1000-acre park to the north of Williamsburg, which is centered around a placid reservoir whose tendrils extend in many different directions. A one-mile walking tour circles the reservoir, but most people spend their time on the water: You can rent a canoe to paddle around its shoreline or a motorized boat to search out hidden coves where you can fish for largemouth bass, saugeye, and black crappie.
