Cottage vacation rentals in Wellington

We stayed for a long weekend for a girls weekend and to do a long day walk on a Saturday. Beautiful spot to relax for a weekend or if you’re planning a hike around the area. The cottage had everything we needed and more and we definitely left feeling like we had a mini vacation! Richard was great at communicating and making sure our time spent at the cottage was wonderful. The pool was an absolute treat after our hike and the spa also to stargaze. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely historic cottage. Tuhitarata Cottage is renovated and furnished with great care and good taste - a great balance between modern amenities and well-maintained original character. Thoughtful hosts who made the stay easy, and were particularly helpful with a couple of extra requests, including a dip in the pool very early in the season. Gardens and estate surrounding were all made available to us, and the whole family enjoyed wandering and exploring. Thanks, Rob and Janelle! We hope to come back some time.

True Luxury within a Boutique yet homely setting here at The Gatehouse. It was evident that this was going to become my best AirBNB experience from the moment Philip made contact. The entire process was swift and smooth with no delay in communication. The house itself is remarkable, with high end sound equipment, luxury bathroom toiletries and rich flora at your doorstep, just to name a few. The location itself is a simple 20 minute drive from the CBD or a short ferry trip if you prefer. Its peaceful surroundings and friendly locals help aid this in being the best Airbnb you can find, not only in Wellington but perhaps the entirety of the Southern Hemisphere. Look no further if you want to set the bar so high as to make a 5 star hotel feel like a hostel…

First word that comes to mind is WOW! From the moment we arrived we were met with a warm welcome from the hosts and very friendly doggie. Secluded & private. Stylish, cosy, and very well styled cottage. We enjoyed the outdoor spa under a full moon and stars. We enjoyed the views, sounds of the native birds and nearby roaring stags. Hosts provided wine, cheese and crackers, jams and coffee and breakfast. Everything you could want for a romantic getaway. 5⭐️

We had a delightful stay at Lucinda’s lovely cottage. Greeted on arrival and drove straight into what felt like a very private space all of our own - yet with walking tracks or the option of the road connecting us up with the animals, pond and gardens. Outdoor bath under the autumnal leaves was a highlight for me and my daughter fell in love with Nutz the cat and Sheldon the pig. We enjoyed feeding him our breakfast scraps. And so cosy with the fire to keep us warm. We’ll be back!

We wanted a relaxing break and that’s exactly what we got at Sarah‘s quirky cottage. Loved the decor and all the games and CDs, spa pool, closeness to the beach. It was great to be able to bring our dog as well. Thank you very much, we will be back!

Perfect little 1bedroom, very spacious with two decks for entertainment, lots of lawn space for kids to run around, beach views are amazing from the front patio. Sunsets were absolutely beautiful. And the kaimoana never disappoints here in Tora 😊 🎣 🦞 Wish we had booked for longer, next time 👍

I absolutely loved my stay at Fig Tree Cottage! The place is cozy, beautifully maintained, and full of charm. It felt like a home away from home — peaceful, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up with everything I needed. The surroundings are gorgeous too, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The Bumblebee Cottage was super cute and full of interesting pictures, decorations, magazines, books, beautiful china etc.. The pantry was very well stocked and I've never stayed anywhere with such a great selection of teas! It was very quiet and peaceful at night and in the morning we got to meet the chickens wandering around, before having freshly laid eggs for breakfast. Gail is a very friendly and helpful host, highly recommended!

Had a great stay at David's with the partner and young dog.. treats on arrival were a nice surprise plenty of firewood. push bikes were a bonus. easy check in and easy communication with David.. house was tidy with plenty to keep entertained with local information provided. was perfect location for what we were after for a short trip. morning trip to Morrisons bush. lunch and drinks at the wineries. night out at a few bars in martinborough, finished with some whitebaiting out the coast of Lake ferry. cheers david

We had a relaxing stay at Elaine’s cottage. The location was exactly what we needed, peaceful, quiet and surrounded in beautiful countryside amongst the vines. We really appreciated being able to bring our dog, with a fully fenced section for dogs and kids to play in. The cottage had everything we needed, and was comfortable and clean. Highly recommended if you are looking for a quiet place to recharge. The cottage worked really well for our young family.

I really loved my stay. I just wanted a place to rest and write in beautiful surroundings and that is exactly what I got. Because the unit is situated in this lovely big garden, set way back off the street, yet within easy walking and driving distance from shops, it suited my purposes perfectly. Russell and Louise were very welcoming when I arrived and made me feel right at home. I would happily stay there again.

Beautiful options for two couples attending the Martinborough Fair. Really lovely design with a huge deck right on the vineyards. Super private. Excellent off-road parking. Great amenities - everything you could possibly need. Would have enjoyed to stay longer!

Great Location & Cozy Stay – Just Watch Your Head and the Stairs The cottage is beautifully presented and well-equipped, with everything we needed for a relaxed and comfortable stay. The off-street parking was a big plus. We stayed over Easter for a family event and found the cottage to be the perfect base—clean, comfy, and in a great spot. It’s an easy walk to Cuba Street, with Aro Café and Garage Project Taproom less than 150m away. We actually ended up having some of our catch-ups at the house—it was a warm, welcoming space where we could just relax and enjoy each other's company without feeling cramped. Just a small heads-up: the staircase to the two upstairs bedrooms is quite steep and may be tricky for anyone with mobility issues or sore knees. Also, the ceilings upstairs are a bit low—tall guests might find themselves ducking (not something I had to worry about!). Overall, a lovely little spot with loads of character.

A lovely little hide-away! Very clean and tidy. Obviously well insulated and very cosy. Like the little exta touches, little bars in fridge, beach towels if required, plenty of spare blankets etc. We like that everything is so walkable (or bikeable). Good value, and a lovely host! Would like to come again.

A peaceful and private Airbnb for a weekend getaway! Everything was exactly as described, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed waking up to birdsong and having a morning coffee on the deck. The beach was a couple minute walk away. Would recommend this Airbnb to everyone - thanks Elisa!

We had a great time hear. The perfect spot for a relaxing getaway and a short drive to nearby Martinborough, a good base to explore the vineyards in a peaceful location. The cottage was well appointed and had everything we needed in an elegant and convenient setting. A beautiful view of the sunset to enjoy over a glass of wine. Would love to come back!
