Welcome to "Cabin on Swede Hill". Our family has farmed this land since 1871. My great grandparents, Swan and Johanna Johnson immigrated to America in the 1860's, found this land which was similar to Sweden. They raised their family here. Approximately 65 Swedish families settled in this community, became to be know as the "Swede Hills". We just received the Hoosier Homestead Award from Indiana celebrating the Sesquicentennial Award. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway for two, a solo remote work week in solitude surrounded by nature, or a family adventure, this 4-season geodesic dome is just the right place. Explore picturesque trails of Scanlon Creek Conservation Area, enjoy inground pool in summer, experience breathtaking sunsets over the farm fields, the starry skies by the bonfire, mesmerizing dance of fireflies in June, and let the frogs and crickets lull you to sleep in the place where time stands still...

YurtCation

YurtCation is an off-grid getaway with lake frontage and nature trails. There is another yurt about 300ft up the same driveway. There are a total of two yurts and two homes that have access to the same 17 acre lake. Each yurt has their own queen-sized comfy bed, wood stove, Weber grill w/charcoal, fire pit, firewood, fresh water, canoe, and clean Porto Potty. The yurts are about 80 feet from the lake’s ordinary high water mark to comply with zoning. We are fully permitted and have many repeats.

Stay in our stylish yurt for a one of a kind "glamping" experience on a 20acre homestead! The perfect location on the Southwest Michigan wine trail and just 15 minutes to Lake Michigan beaches! Quiet Retreat for Two

Spend a starry night in the country with the comfort of a soft bed, a wood stove, and plenty of space both indoors and out. Our yurt is located in a pocket of trees next to rolling farm fields and beautiful conservation land that the Rocklyn creek meanders through. You can prepare your meals in a sweet outdoor kitchen that is entirely screened in- or choose to sit by the fire. Bruce Trail access is just around the corner, and the towns of Meaford and Owen Sound are a short scenic drive away.

Forest Yurt

Yurt in a private forest area. Walking distance to the cheese factory (ice cream, lunches, snacks), produce stands, and a park. Short drive to Madoc (groceries, beer/ LCBO, parks, beach, bakery, restaurants, etc). Perfect area for star gazing, long walks & bike rides. This yurt is in a camping setting, with indoor compost toilet, seasonal private outdoor shower, no wifi but there is electricity, dishes, indoor hot plate, BBQ, mini fridge, all pots & pans and bedding and clean drinking water.

Agua Norte Cabin: Lake Superior View & Sauna.

With Lake Superior views and a skylight above the bed for stargazing and Northern Lights magic, our cabin is perfect for nature-loving guests looking for peace, quiet, and cozy, but still be near town. Sit out on the large cedar deck and watch the waves crash on Five Mile Rock, stroll to the beach across the road, take a sauna, have a bonfire, and hike our trails.

Steeped in nature, the gazebo provides a get away into nature, with its double bed and intimate sized room this is a wonderful space for 2 to be immersed in a peaceful environment. Whether you came here to rest & revive or to explore there is plenty to be had! The gazebo has a nearby compostable toliet (shared with other guests), and just a 1 minute walk on a path in the woods to the main house (where the full bathroom is that can be used 9am-8pm).
