Vacation rentals with outdoor seating in Shelter Cove

We had our family vacation at the Beach house, and it could not have been more perfect. Very close to restaurants and other amenities. Very comfortable beds, everything you need to cook, and the most amazing views of the ocean. - Mary We had the best accommodations! My favorite south Humboldt getaway! The creek, the hot tub, comfy beds and the adjacent state redwood grove made this place an exceptional stay! Already planning our return! Key tip- use the pull offs when you’re going thru the grove on the way to the property and hike down and around some impressive old growth. No crowds and I saw 2 bald eagles ! Magical ! We had a peaceful and restful stay at Johnna’s place. The home is located in an isolated area among the trees. There is not much to do in the area and it rained our entire stay. However we were content to stay inside and relax. There are games and books available. The tv and wifi service are spotty but that’s to be expected being so far out. The home is comfortable and cozy. And we had plenty of space and everything we needed. We would highly recommend Johnna’s home.

Beautiful views, very peaceful. We could hear elephant seals from the house and see the surf, could not keep windows open due to cold weather. We were able to get most items at the general store and drive near the surf cafe was dotted with houses close to water. Great weekend. Travel during the day to enjoy the drive amidst tall trees and hair pin bends.

One of the most beautiful places in California—and maybe even on Earth. This was an absolutely astounding weekend. It’s my second time in Shelter Cove, and I brought my family from abroad just to experience it. The beauty here is beyond words. The property itself is in a spectacular location—perched above the black sand beaches, high enough to stay dry and peaceful, yet close enough to feel connected to the ocean. The views are breathtaking, and the house is incredibly comfortable and spacious, perfect for a large group. Can’t recommend this place enough and I absolutely can’t wait to come back.

This is one of the most beautiful places we’ve stayed in. Pictures don’t do it justice! The house and grounds had so much to offer we “stayed in” the entire weekend. Our host was wonderful and we’d love to come back in the summer to enjoy this property even more.

Shelter Cove is a hidden gem in California & this house is the BEST way to enjoy it. The house is directly on the ocean! The views from the living room, kitchen & my bed room were absolutely spectacular. The house was so clean. The sofas were super comfortable. The downstairs bathroom has a huge tub & the water gets really hot. Multiple beaches within walking distance & lots of sea lions near the lighthouse! Mario's bar & restaurant is also walkable and we met so many kind locals there who told us a lot about Shelter Cove. We saw deer grazing the grass all over town everyday. There's even a shower in the garage you can use after going to the ocean before entering the house. The host's were so kind to leave us a complimentary bottle of local wine & a nice note for us upon entering the house. We had such a great stay here and will definitely be coming back in the future. We were so lucky to find this place. Thanks Todd for letting us stay at your beautiful home!

The house was AMAZING! The kitchen is stocked with everything needed once you've bought your groceries! The rooms were spacious and the grounds were well kept. A very beautiful home and we felt extremely comfortable staying there! Shelter Cove is a quiet beach town with lots of natural beauty, walking trails, and you've got to visit Black Sand Beach while there! Marc's house overlooks the Cove; we spent every evening watching the sun set over the ocean. What a peaceful place to be!!! On the only road in and out (Shelter Cove Rd) there is a stand of old growth Redwoods and a small parking area off the road where you can hike. A must see area while there. One thing to know is the road has many curves and some are really tight. You definitely want to plan your trip to the grocery store and get everything you need at one time - it takes about 50 minutes to the closest one in Redway. There is a small shop near the house but the prices are significantly higher there.

This place could not have worked out better for me. I had an environmental survey to do in the forests around Garberville. The location was central. From what I saw of the local hotels (from the outside), it was easily superior in space and amenities (full kitchen). Very clean, comfortable bed, good hot shower. And its located right over a great natural food store (too tired to cook one night, I warmed up some of the Indian food bought below, washed down with local organic wine!). No noisy activities day or night. What's not to like!

The rocky cliffs waves crashing view is wowzy. The roads to get there are a bit nerve racking if your used to mostly flat roads.

The rental was as advertised, nice calm location with a great scenery, reasonable price too

This place is exactly how it looks in photos. It’s cozy and has all the things you need for a stopover stay. We stayed here on our way to Yosemite and would recommend it!

Absolutely gorgeous!! It was an incredible stay with a perfect view. The place was spotless and felt like our own private getaway. We will absolutely be staying again and look forward to hiding away on the lost coast 💙

Simy was a great host! Very responsive & helpful. The place was incredible & the views were absolutely beautiful. Relaxing in the hot tub with the view was truly amazing & we cannot wait to visit again soon!

We stopped at Simy’s for two nights during our honeymoon! The house and the beach were breathtaking and we enjoyed the quietness of the area in October. A few cute little restaurants and coffee shops but overall small town feel which we loved and we had everything we needed! Honestly, one of the absolute coolest places I have ever lodged at!
