Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Shawnigan Lake

We were visiting family in Sequim for Thanksgiving -- 9 adults staying overnight and 2 visiting during the day plus 2 dogs. Everyone loved the house and felt very comfortable. Lots of games to keep us entertained. Given it was Thanksgiving, the huge (and well stocked) kitchen was perfect. For an AirBnB, we were pleasantly surprised at how well stocked things were -- from paper towels to toilet paper to dish-towels and dishes and garbage bags. We live in Orlando and rentals here tend to be bare bones which is challenging when you don't live in the area and have to buy the basics. Laura was great at staying in touch as needed. All around a good time!

We had a fantastic stay - right on the ocean with beautiful sunrise and sunset views. The jacuzzi overlooking the water was enjoyed by all. The kitchen is spectacular with everything you could need and the living area is very nice. The full wall of glass windows and sliders with the wrap-around deck was great. The heated floors were an unexpected, but welcome surprise!

This is a very nice home in a nice neighborhood. Beds were comfortable and big. We had a great stay here.

The River House was the perfect home base for our family’s BC getaway. There was more than enough space for the four of us and our small dog, including an extra bedroom for the kids to have a sleepover when they wanted to. The appliances seem new and high-end, and the kitchen is well-stocked. We really appreciated the ability to charge our EV while we were there. We did not get to use many of the outdoor amenities due to rain, but we will definitely do so if we return during better weather. We would highly recommend this Airbnb for a family of 4-6 people!

Nicole’s place was very lovely. It’s modern and beautiful, and has a huge grassy yard which our pup loved for playing frisbee. We found everything we needed and felt right at home. Check-in was super easy, and everything was nice and clean when we got there. The double headed master shower is a nice treat too. Check-out was straight forward and simple. We would definitely recommend this place to others and would gladly book again.

Tim and Patti were great hosts. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return when next on Mayne Island. The space was clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and peaceful. We were wowed by the great views and appreciated being so close to the trails. Thank you for such a relaxing long weekend!

Serene’s place is so lovely. Spacious, but cozy and super clean, with beautiful surroundings and lovely hosts. Serene went above and beyond to make sure we, and especially our kids, were comfortable. She had all the baby necessities, and even provided toys based on my toddler’s interests. Would highly reccomend!

The space was clean and easy to get to. Comfortable bed with lots of little extras.

Astrid and Stephen’s place in the marina was an absolute gem. When we first arrived, we were greeted by a friendly neighbour who so happened to be Stephen who showed us to our unit, and helped us check in. Though it rained for much of our visit, the views were still stunning—peaceful, calming, and a perfect escape. The home itself was pristine and full of charm, clearly cared for with thought and love. Every little detail made it feel like a true retreat. We flew in for my son’s hockey playoffs, and the location couldn’t have been better—an easy and scenic trip to and from the arena. In fact, we loved it so much that we added two extra nights to our stay instead of touring to Victoria. No regrets! The local touches were a highlight—morning walks for fresh sourdough bread from Grain, amazing local wines at nearby restaurants that we walked to for a few lunches, dinners and a stop for some delicious tubs of local ice cream that we stocked up on! Grateful.

We stayed one night at Russells place. The location was conveniently situated for us in relation to the ferry terminal. What we appreciated about the location was that we had our own entrance and space. It was lovely to be able to sit outside on the balcony. The bathroom was spacious, with nice toiletries. Unfortunately, we couldn't cook in the kitchen, but we were aware of that as it was mentioned in the description. Luckily, the Nanaimo bars made up for it. What we personally find a bit of a shame — and this unfortunately happens at almost all Airbnbs — is that there’s no personal contact anymore. A key lockbox is very convenient, but we also feel it takes away a bit of the personal touch.

Really lovely place in Cowichan Valley. Jane was a lovely and kind host. The place was exactly as shown/described, with a well stocked kitchen and a comfortable bed. Would stay here again when we're back in Duncan!

Had a wonderful and relaxing stay at kulvirs Airbnb so cosy and warm and comfortable all in one comfortable space and especially when it’s so close to everything!! Highly recommended staying here Thankyou for being so understanding and patient when we need a little more time checking out on a later time I’ll definitely be staying here again in the future!

Chris was quick to reply to our questions before checkin and welcoming when we arrived. Suite was clean and had all that we needed and more. Driveway and street parking were appreciated. Clear info in the welcome binder. We would definitely recommend this suite to others.

Agata’s place was so beautiful, in a great location and very comfortable to stay in! There was lots to do around the area and it felt very safe. It was very easy to check in, even when going with a vehicle and the instructions were super easy to follow. Agata also responded quickly to messages and made communication stress-free. A wonderful stay in an absolutely stunning location! The photos and description are perfectly accurate, and the place is wonderful to spread out relax or use as a homebase while visiting Sidney. Both bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and stocked full of amenities, and the kitchen is very functional with a great open room and beautiful balcony overlooking the water. Victoria is about a 25 minutes drive away (depending on traffic) but the suite is close to many amenities including stores, restaurants, the Victoria Airport and the ferries to Vancouver. Highly recommend and would stay here again.

The place was absolutely beautiful and exactly what we expected! Perfect view of the water!Definitely worth the price. Jeffrey was extremely communicative and answered any questions we had quickly. There were great places to eat and grab a drink within walking distance (literally a wine bar right next door). Also a short drive to Olympic National Park. I would highly recommend this place for 1-2 people!

Wayne's place was fantastic! It's in a great location that makes everything Downtown very walkable. Would recommend a stay here and we would love to come back :)

My girlfriend and I chose Denise’s condo for a girls weekend get away. The location is absolutely stunning and SO peaceful. The condo was well stocked, clean and the beds were very comfortable. Denise was friendly and quick to respond to any of our questions. Excellent value for a beautiful property. Thank you Denise, we will definitely be back!!

Excellent on all points. The apartment was spacious, clean with modern furnishings. the view from the balcony was a highlight. Kristin and Ryan were responsive and helpful - we appreciated the extra bit of time to check out. Parking is easy to access and just a stones throw from the main street of town.

Great space for a getaway. Nice and new and had everything we needed.

We had a lovely time staying in Tammy’s home. It was really clean and very well stocked with everything we needed. She is very responsive and we were able to check in a bit early on our arrival. The bed is very comfortable and there is a lovely view of the water from the patio. We would definitely stay here again! The resort has a tennis court, lots of grills, one campfire pit, dock for crabbing or boats, beach for clamming. The property is very well kept. Thanks again Tammy for such a lovely stay!

We had an incredible stay at this stunning property perched on the ocean in Shirley, BC! The views of the Olympic Mountains from the premium hot tub were nothing short of breathtaking, especially when we spotted humpback whales at dusk on our first night—pure magic! The property itself at moments may feel more like a swanky international hotel with its backlit onyx kitchen and luxurious rain shower yet nestled in the rustic beauty of the coast. Our host, Robert, was incredibly kind and attentive, immediately offering his charging station for our car—a real relief. Highly recommend this place for an exceptional, premium coastal retreat close to Victoria!

Place was gorgeous, Iris was a sweet and responsive host. We will be back again 100%
