Cedarsongs Suite Cozy and bright in Kinsol Valley

NicholeRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a wonderful relaxing weekend away at Cedarsong’s suite and Celina was a great host. It is a very well appointed private space with modern furnishings and a cozy vibe. The linens and beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked, even with a waffle maker that we enjoyed using! They provide wonderful local bathroom products and artwork to appreciate. The outdoor area was beautiful with a bird feeding station full of local birds whose songs filled the air. We enjoyed our coffee and breakfast outside each morning and explored a nearby river, Kinsol trestle, Mill bay and Cowichan bay - all within a close drive. Would love to stay again and would recommend to anyone wanting to escape into nature with conveniences still nearby.

The Orchard

BrannaghRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Anne and her husband were so friendly, and just generally went above and beyond to make us feel special and welcomed. We were greeted with a bottle of homemade apple cider from the apples in their orchard, chocolate chip cookies, a sourdough loaf, fresh strawberries, and other goodies stocked in the fridge. The space was clean and thoughtfully decorated, paying homage to the natural beauty of the area. Anne also checked in on the second day to make sure I didn’t need anything, and she made suggestions of events to attend during the long weekend. Thank you both for a wonderful weekend!

"Our Favourite" Shawnigan Cabin!

VivianRating, 5 stars5 days ago
We loved our stay here. The dock was perfect and the lake had plenty of fish to catch. The lake is perfect for paddle boarding and you will see plently of boats and jet skis on a warm day. The kitchen is fully stocked with plenty of dinnerware and tools go feel right at home. There was even lighters and chargers. We appreciate the plenty of towels stocked in the laundry room. There was plenty of fire wood and it was easy to light a fire with fire starters. The hosts were extremely responsive. We ran out of propane and had it replaced within minutes. We even got a visit from the resident dog Rosie, who was lovely and so sweet. Would definitely come again. Thanks!!

The Hygge is a peaceful gem! The neighbourhood of cottages is so quaint and picturesque! As soon as you walk in the doors the smell is lovely and the design is beautiful! Comfy beds, soft linens and towels. We loved the long kitchen table, the yoga mats to use, the sound of the river coming from the backyard! I could go on! We had a lovely stay!

Bright suite with large patio and ocean view!

CeliaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
What a wonderful place. House was bright and airy and beautifully decorated. It had everything we needed and more. Lots of cupboard space in the bedrooms, comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen. We were 4 adults and there was tons of space for all of us. It was a great experience and although it was a bit of a drive into Victoria it was definitely worth it.

Your guide to Shawnigan Lake

All About Shawnigan Lake

Located on the edge of an idyllic village of the same name, Shawnigan Lake, is surrounded by pine-covered hills around 30 miles north of Victoria on Vancouver Island. In town, you’ll find a handful of grocery stores, mom-and-pop restaurants, welcoming coffee shops, and a small museum where you can learn more about the local history.

The village is often used as a base to explore the magnificent scenery surrounding it. Take a walk to the picturesque Kinsol Trestle Bridge, one of the tallest wooden railway trestles in the world, standing an impressive 144 feet above the Koksilah River or take a swim or a peaceful paddle on the lake. Just 15 minutes away at Cowichan Bay, you can spot orcas and humpback whales, and it’s not uncommon to see seals and sea lions basking on the beach. After a day of exploring, the tasting rooms at the nearby wineries are the perfect place to try locally produced wine or indulge in a farm-to-table meal as you gaze out at the sprawling vineyards.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Shawnigan Lake

Thanks to a slew of activities on offer and the relatively temperate weather of Vancouver Island, securing a Shawnigan Lake rental is a year-round proposition. During the summer, the days are long, hot, and sunny, perfect for heading out onto the Cowichan Valley Trail or hitting one of the lake’s sandy beaches.

The weather is cooler in the spring and fall, and the nearby forests are splashed with the colors of spring flowers and autumn leaves. These months can also be a little rainy, so you may want to bring an umbrella and a waterproof jacket with you. During the winter, the summer crowds thin, and although the weather can be a bit grey, it is perfect for spending time relaxing at your rental cabin or checking out the local businesses.
