" Brienno is a small village on Lake Como with ancient origins. It has a Medieval structure with fantasctic and suggestive porches. The apartament is situated in the old town, with the foundations directly in the rock. The village offers you calmness and peace, mild weather (not too cold in winter, not too hot in summer) and beatiful panoramas; you can have interesting trips, watch wildlife, stroll among centuries-ols trees. Chances of trekking on the near mountains. In summer in particular you can go to a very nice public park and some places for sunbathe. Also, you can find very nice historic and art places, like S.Anna's church or tunnels of the 1st world war. It's a very nice for acquatic-summer sports like windsurf, waterscooters, wayer skiing, trips by boat too. LOGISTICALLY is a perfect place to visit the region because BRIENNO is situated between Como, Swiss, Mennaggio / Tremezzo and the Val d'Intelvi. Even BELLAGGIO is simple to go to, by boat. In Brienno you can hear the waters move and the swan fly because mass tourism stops only nearby In the village there is a very good PIZZERIA with an ungforgettable view of the lake, a vip restaurant and a little bar. By car you can reach in less than 5' other precious restaurant or pubs where to eat lake fish and the best of the italian food, even BIOLOGIOCAL ones. In the morning you can find a delicatessen truck seller, where to buy local cheeses, salami, bred, milk and meat. However in 10' minutes a big mall is attainable. If you haven't a car you can reach to Brienno by bus from Como train station (C10 or C20). They run about every 30 minutes. One of our guest wrote: "Daniele's place in Brienno, Lake Como, is truly delightful. The accommodation has lots of character and has been recently renovated but retains much of the charm of the original buildings in the area. Upstairs is the living area with a little balcony, downstairs is the large bedroom and very comfortable bed. The village of Brienno clings to the side of a large hill that plunges into the lake. The houses are tall, crowded together, little cobbled alleys connecting them, some with spectacular views of the lake. Very charming."
  • Magnificent holiday home, excellent welcome, Brienno is beautiful especially with an exceptional guide like Daniele's mother!

  • Daniele made us a reservation and picked us up from the train station and brought us to our reservation, for a reasonable fee. It was a very pretty view of the lake from the balcony and the apartment was clean and had the essentials.

    Claire2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Nice apartment in a nice place. Car parking is 100 meter up the road in a public place.

  • We spent three nights in Daniel's apartment, my husband and I liked everything. Daniele is a great host, we recommend his apartments. The visa from the window is bewitching. Everything was clean in the apartment, there are essentials for cooking (salt, sugar, butter, dishes and a dishwasher). Daniele quickly answered our questions. in January the apartment was warm, for us it was an important factor in choosing a home. chek-in & chek-out went fast. public parking is 100-200 meters away, a free place has always been found. Nearby is the delicious Crotto dei Platani restaurant - we recommend it to everyone. It is advisable to do abuse in advance.

  • Wonderful place, close to everything. In 2 hours, seresta in Turin, Genoa, Brescia. I 45 min arrives in Lugano and Milan. In less than 3 hours I went to the incredible Mont Blanc in France. I was received wonderfully by Mrs. Ornela. I recommend and say more, I will be back.

  • Stayed hust for a night on our way to down to Rome with my two little children of ages 5 and 3 and they even loved the place a lot. Seems like it would have been better on Summer, but I would definitely recommend for my friends. Communication & Check in and check out and cleanness is top notch. Thanks a lot

Charming apartment in Bellagio, just a step from the centre. From the principal balcony you have a stunning view of the lake and of the famous Villa Serbelloni. The apartment is on two floors: on the first one there is the living room, a bathroom, the kitchen and also a chimney; on the second one there is a bathroom and a big bedroom with a double bed and two single ones. The perfect location to relax and drink some wine admiring the peace of the lake. You will never want to leave this place.
You will not have parkings problems here, if you will come by car and you are very close to the center at the same time. If you will come by ferry or bus, you will reach the apartment in a few minutes but if you need help, I can personally offer a car pick-up at the ferry or bus stop, to make perfect your holidays.
Very quiet and nice area, Bellagio is the perfect place to have a relax holiday. Free parking and the center at 10 minutes walking. The perfect location of the house offers a 180° lakeview from the principal balcony, probably the best view of the lake in Bellagio.
  • A great place to stay if you want to enjoy serene views of lake como. Recommend atleast a 2 day stay here to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of this place.

  • What an absolutely amazing 4 night stay! The flat is amazing (those views!) and so well equipped with everything you could possibly need and within walking distance of the town centre. The hosts were incredible. From accommodating a very late check in (after midnight) and personally welcoming us, leaving us a bottle of wine and water, super quick responses to messages and very thorough and detailed local tips. I would highly recommend Giancarlo and Federico’s place and would definitely return in the future!

    Marie-Louise2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Easy access from the Ferry Point and the Centre. The Super market is at a walking distance. The bus to Como can be taken from a point at 10 minutes walk. Summing up all The Lakeview apartment is the place to be in Bellagio and the hosts are The Superhost. Not to miss the bottle of wine by the hosts.

  • This is the only way to live the lake life! This space is great, homey, stunning views and close to everything yet quiet enough to create your own oasis. We will be back!!

    Dusty2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! Federico also picked us up from the ferry and that was such a great touch. Perfect location. Loved every minute!

    Sophie2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Really good location... not too far from the ferry..... The view from two balconies are great and its a great space to chill on. The overall place is large...though it does lack a little coziness... a throw rug would be nice... but its not really an issue if its not cold out.... Being picked up from the ferry is a nice touch.... Its close to the main city areas and just is a very nice place to chill after a day of site seeing..... This was a winter trip so it was very very quiet... I imagine its a lot more active in the summer and spring

    Roger2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was spacious and comfortable and the location can't be beat. Federico was very responsive and helpful, and they even left a bottle of wine for us to enjoy! I highly recommend this apartment and Federico and Giancarlo as hosts. Thanks guys!

  • We have really enjoyed our stay at this apartment. The views are amazing !!! One afternoon we just sat on the couch and watched the lake changing colours for 1 hr before the sunset :) the hosts are very nice, respond promptly to all the messages and very accommodating. Location is great - easy walk to the city centre and to the nearby fishing village. We did a 2 hr walk around Bellagio suburbs- one of the recommended ones in the file in the apartment - was really nice. We would stay here again if we are to visit Bellagio :)

Wake up to mountain views in a real community. My comfy home is in a quaint hamlet with great amenities. Pop to the cafe/ bakery downstairs to mingle with the locals over a frothy cappuccino & yummy pastries. Nip to the local grocery for some local cheese for lunch. Enjoy an aperitivo at the bar before heading to one of the local restaurant/pizzerias. All this is on the doorstep. Bellagio centre ('borgo') to the locals is 2km away - savour the views on the way! It is meditation in motion.
Casa Bellagina is in an ideal location for exploring both the lake and surrounding mountains. Guests love experiencing life in a real village with essential amenities close to hand. The locals are friendly! Free public off-street parking is available a few steps away. The flat stays cool in summer and the balcony lets in the breeze. High ceilings and thick walls mean there is no need for air conditioning but portable fans are available. Smart TV with foreign news channels and Netflix. There's a varied library of DVDs and books and a printer should you need it. In short, there are plenty of home comforts to make you to feel at home. I am delighted that all my guests have commented on how homely the apartment is! You'll find it is spacious, welcoming, spotlessly clean & well-equipped. Small balcony with views of mountains & local life on the piazza. The second bedroom can be made up either with twin beds or as a double. There's great lighting, plentiful mirrors and abundant wardrobe space. It is cool in summer and cosy in winter with a wood-burning stove in the living/dining room, in addition to the central heating. Take a seat on the balcony and sip an ‘aperitivo’ before dinner watching the sunset on the Grigne mountains. There are 3 restaurants/ pizzerias within easy walking distance. Self-catering is no problem as the kitchen is perfectly equipped and there is a well-stocked grocery a few steps away. Enjoy breakfast Italian style with tempting pastries and brioches at the café below my apartment or an espresso from your own coffee machine. A car gives you access to restaurants in the mountains behind Bellagio where cuisine is very authentic and the prices lower. There are many walking trails in the hills and countryside away from the lake. Milan can be reached by train from Varenna or Lecco for a day of culture and shopping. Magnificent gardens are available in Bellagio (Villa Melzi) and nearby Tremezzo (Villa Carlotta). Villa Balbianello at Lenno has been used in recent movies (Star Wars and Casino Royale). There is a wide range of guide books and local information provided in the apartment. You will receive a link to my digital guide when you make a booking. ( I am unable to send a link until then due to rules.) Bedroom 1: King size bed, 3 tall double wardrobes. Full length mirrored cupboard. Bedroom 2: Twin or double bed as required. This room has ample storage and shelving space as well as computer & printer. Travel cot & baby seat which attaches to table are available. The sofa bed in the living room is a French style double ( 1 and a half places) so better for 1 person only or children. Bathrooms: Bathroom: bath/shower, WC, bidet, sink, mirrored cabinet, towel rails, scales, stool, safety handle. Utility room has a sink unit with 3-way wall mirror & overhead lights a magnifying make-up- ideal for hair & make-up. The washing machine is in here. Kitchen: Electric oven, 4 ring gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, automatic coffee machine, electric citrus juicer, hand blender, electric whisk, wok, griddle pan and all essential cooking equipment, cookery books, spices etc. Living Rooms: Living/dining room has 3 seater sofa bed, leather recliner, footstools, Smart TV, Netflix, sound system, DVD, a large range of films, storage unit, dining table & seating for 4, varied side lights & a large range of books. Cleaning can be arranged during your stay at an extra cost. Tiled floors throughout so don't forget your slippers! Rugs in lounge + at bedsides. Extra linens provided for stays of over 7 nights or on request. Amenities: gas hob/electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron/ironing board, satellite tv, internet access, central heating, room fan. Other: Iron and ironing board. 2 fold up outdoor chairs, 2 beach mats for use at the lakeside beach.
It would be hard not to fall in love with Bellagio. It is easy to see why the town is known as the 'pearl of Lake Como'. It has a charm and an atmosphere all of its own: from its cobbled streets with beautiful shops to its gardens and breathtaking vistas. Photographer's paradise, writer's retreat, traveller's oasis, hiker's heaven...or simple dawdle the day away. Bellagio will seduce you whatever your style! Please be aware that my home is in a quaint hamlet above Bellagio, 5 minutes' drive or 20/25 minutes' walk, which is uphill on the way home. There are only a few buses a day; taxis are available, particularly in the evening. I have a friend who helps me out as an unofficial taxi so anything can be arranged. A car helps but it isn't essential. Although I offer one night stays I strongly recommend you stay for at least two, especially if you are reliant on public transport.
  • Sally's home is warm, very cosy, perfectly well organised space. It is just same, as in the pictures, but there is one thing missing - the atmosphere! This home have such a good energy, so welcoming - you can really imagine you're living there. The cleanliness is perfect, super comfy beds and sunlight flowing thru the windows. The location is very nice, you can find everything you need from cute shops nearby, there is also a cheese food truck in the front of church - and the selection of wines in small food shop was also surprising fantastic! We travelled with baby, there was all we needed to make our stay super comfortable. We definitely recommend;)

It is a little bit away from Bellagio town center though so having a car/ transport will come handy.

  • The accommodation is located in the heart of Brienno and yet quiet, on the balcony you have the impression, you are right on (= over) the main street. The house has atmosphere and looks typical of the place, the two rooms are spacious, two toilets are always practical. The coffee maker is great for breakfast, there are no supply options nearby - except in the nearby pizzeria, where there is delicious pizzas. As a starting point for excursions Brienno is well suited, and after the hustle and bustle about in Bellagio you are glad for the peace. The car has to be parked at some distance, there are no places in front of the house.

  • Daniele's accommodation is a dream. Located directly on the shores of Lake Como. The apartment is drawn by old stone walls and even a bit of the original floor can be seen. A great coffee machine that grinds the beans fresh one morning sets the icing on top. Simply magical. Brienno is a sweet, quiet village with an excellent pizzeria overlooking the lake. If you are looking for peace and want to live authentically, decides for Daniele's accommodation.

    Natalie2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first AirBnb stay, Danielle’s home is hosted by him & his family. The space is located in a very residential side of town in a quiet beautiful neighborhood with the views very close by and the gorgeous church if you should find it walking around. Daniel immediately once booking contacted us to meet us exactly when we arrived, very refreshing so we wouldn’t get lost and communicated with our taxi driver on the way. He helped us understand the bus routes once we checked in with booklets he provided to get to our desired locations and what was around town when we wanted a bite in the morning. Do check out the pizzeria for delicious croissants! Which is very helpful traveling to a new country with a different language and can’t ask for directions. I was grateful he spoke a bit of English when we arrived! The apartment was very clean & large. It felt very homey. At night it’s very quiet & in the morning you hear the bells of the church. The bathroom was good for showering after a long travel as well! Kitchen is equipped to make coffee. Upon the evening, Daniel’s mother took my bf & I to the local restaurant for dinner & I will say this is one of the TOP dinners we’ve had to date! amazing wine. Mind you we are great food critics. We didn’t need a reservation they seem To know the family well. Absolutely spectacular view sitting outside, great service and delicious dishes. Upon leaving the next morning. Daniels very sweet father helped us to our bus stop that was not very close by walking, but we had a great work out getting there! We chatted using translated on google. He stayed with us till I bus got there to translate where we were going for the wedding we were attending. Upon leaving Italy Daniels Father took us to the airport for a fee, instead of us getting an overpriced Taxi at last minute very early in the morning. Despite the long tea long for a trip to Italy for a short wedding at a villa and out of all the things that made Italy very comfortable, stress free, and like home was Danielle’s place & his family giving us a share of what it had to offer those that lived on Lake Como in relaxation. I’d recommend this place to anyone wanting to enjoy the beautiful side of Lake Como with a genuine family to remember.

    Jasmin2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Brienno is a wonderful village and with the help of extremly friendly and open minded Daniele you will be able to explore even more hidden gems at Lake of Como. The flat was perfect, directly in the centre of Brienno and just a few steps away from Danieles home, so that he was always there to help as... And entertain us, he was so nice to suprise the kids with his trombone, when they asked for it ; ) We'll come back.

  • Laura was very quick to respond to questions and was very understanding when we had to change the number of guests. The apartment is beautiful with stunning views and Laura had left lovely little touches (wine, pasta, cookies..) We would definitely stay here again!

  • We spent one night, the house was clean, spacious enough. There is a balcony with a fantastic view of the lake even more beautiful than the photos. Laura and Giuseppe were the wonderful hosts, very kind, helpful. All excellent.

  • Laura’s apartment sits in between Como and Bellagio on the southwestern portion of Lake Como. She greeted us upon arrival and was incredibly patient, and responsive with any questions we had. She even left us pasta, pastries, and some wine to enjoy on our first night in Italy. After a 5 min. walk to the bus stop we were able to take the bus to Bellagio for a day, and explore a little more of Lake Como. On our final morning, we checked out at 1000, and made the hour and a half drive to Monte Grona for some incredible views of the area. Overall, our stay at Laura’s was one to remember in no small part to her hospitality, patience, and attention to detail.

  • We stayed one night in this cosy, warm apartment. Communication with Barbara was brilliant. Perfect directions, helped us find our way even on a dark and rainy evening. The view was lovely, despite the rain. Lots of goodies left in the fridge for us.

  • All perfect. Although we did not meet Alan in person, it is as if we had met him, totally available and attentive. The directions guided us very well. The house was warm and the fridge with drink and food when we arrived, that is appreciated. The pity is not being able to enjoy the house more. It had a garden with barbecue and bicycles at our disposal. I would definitely repeat.

  • Very nice stay at Barbara and Alan! They are very responsive by email and give us a lot of information. The apartment is well located. To recommend!

  • Alan and Barbara are great hosts who pay attention to all the details so that our stay goes well: directions for the arrival, wine, beverages candies ready in the fridge, information for visits ... They are not present on the spot but almost all the time with us via whatsapp. Anna house is perfect for discovering Lake Como, beautiful view from the balcony and the garden. I highly recommend. Thanks again Alan and Barbara.

  • Apartment with beautiful views of the lake, beautiful outdoor space with garden, in a quiet location. The extras in the kitchen (wine, pasta, and snacks) and bicycles available to guests are much appreciated.

  • We loved staying at Anna House. A very special location up in the hills. Alan was most helpful and generous with his food and tips for things to do. Would highly recommend for something different to experience.

  • Anna House is amazing. Just beside the Como Lake. Mr Alan kept everything for us and he is very gentle, responses very quickly and gave all kind of help. Highly recommended.

Really Nice apartment located right on the lake, in the medieval town of Brienno. Perfect location for a relaxing stay on the lake; take the opportunity of having breakfast with an unbeatable view.
The apartment sleeps up to three people. It consists of a spacious dining room with a well-equipped kitchen; a living room with satellite TV and a sofa bed for one person, bedroom with a double bed and bathroom with shower. Guests can park their cars in the white public parking lots around Brienno, then they will have to take a five to ten-minutes walk to reach the apartment, situated in the typical alleys of the village. Due to its position, the apartment is not suitable for people with disabilities. Brienno is a medieval village that well characterizes Como Lake. It is just 12 km away from Como, 10-minutes-away from the Swiss border and 50 minutes away from the International Malpensa Airport. The old village is made up of ancient stone-houses keep unchanged during the years and of a lot of alleys that will bring you right to the lake.
Brienno is a medieval town characterized by stone alleys and beautiful old porticos overlooking the lake. Come here to taste the tranquillity of Lake Como.
  • Greatly located authentic apartment. Everything is very nice! Elisa is a great host!

  • I loved my time at Alisa's, the location on the water's edge is both unique and memorable. Also a very handy larder full of little life-savers if needed (Brits would call this a little Tuck Shop!). Very thoughtful. I want to sample this in the summer months next. Very highly recommended.

  • We enjoyed our 10-day vacation in Annarosas apartment very much. The days began with breakfast on the balcony and in the evening after our excursions and hikes we let them finish with a good wine there. We were fascinated by the view and the peace. Brienno is a very authentic, friendly place with a good pizzeria. By boat we explored the places on the lake of Brienno. The bus connection is good. Annarosa has equipped the apartment with the most important food / drinks at fair prices. This is very convenient because there is no grocery store in town. Absolutely recommended accommodation.

Isabel and Roberta are pleased to welcome you to "The House of Alma", an exclusive suite, "pieds dans l'eau", just in front of the incredible beauty of the Comacina island - the Portofino of Lake Como - really a place for the "soul". With a sunny balcony overlooking the island, perfect for spring and summer, and two fireplaces to heat the atmosphere in autumn and winter, the apartment is ideal for a couple who wants to enjoy a romantic getaway, or for a family with 3-4 members.
THE INCREDIBLE BEAUTY: "The house of Alma" an exclusive suite, “pieds dans l'eau”, exactly in front of the Island Comacina - "the Portofino of Lake Como" - truly “a place of the soul”. The owner of the house was called "Alma" which in Italian means "soul", and therefore "la casa/il luogo dell’anima" - “Maison de l’Âme” - “a Place of the Soul” - “ein Ort, Seele". See on You Toube "La Casa Alma by Isabel and Roberta - Hotels in Sala Comacina, IT". With its luxurious interior and stunning views, this glamorous and central location, is equipped with all modern comforts: air conditioning, central heating, Wi-Fi internet connection, satellite TV with flat screen. You are thus free to submerge yourself in one of the most enchanting parts of Lake, while also able to enjoy a truly relaxing holiday in any season. La Casa di Alma is a Rainbow Friendly property. You are thus free to submerge yourself in one of the most enchanting parts of Lake, while also able to enjoy a truly relaxing holiday in any season. La Casa di Alma is a Rainbow Friendly property. The access to the ground floor is possible directly from the picturesque Piazza XXV Aprile - characterized by the typical "Lucy" boat in its middle (from the novel "The Betrothed" by Alessandro Manzoni); inside, a sumptuous master bedroom suite awaits, with a window overlooking the reflecting pool in front of the Comacina Island: the room is romantically decorated with shades of gray, green and indigo, endowed with a fireplace, a powder room, and a modern and functional bathroom, with shower, laundry area, and a spiral staircase - only 12 steps and you can see the hills and mountains from the upper floor, also to be reached from the palace staircase. On the first floor, a large master suite / living room with fireplace and TV, made even cozier and warmer thanks to furniture in a palette of reds, yellows, and from the finishes in authentic natural wood, has a sofa that converts into two comfortable beds to accommodate your children or your guests (up to 2 people), in addition to a second bathroom with dressing room and own window, a fully equipped kitchen and a table right in front of the French window, like a beautiful picture, constantly different, which allows to look out from the large balcony on the water separating the mainland from the Island, called for its tranquil beauty and magical reflections "zoca de l'oli" (oil basin).
Although the kitchen is equipped with all the necessary appliances - stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and electric kettle - the presence in front of the home of two of the most famous restaurants in the area - "La Tirlindana" and "La Locanda dell’Isola", frequented by celebrities from the entertainment and high society world - allows you to have lunch and dinner without any worries ... a few meters away, always overlooking the lake, we also recommend the "Taverna blu", where you can taste the local specialties: risotto with perch (a dish of incredible goodness), or missoltini, dried and smoked fish from the lake, with a unique taste. For breakfast and appetizers we suggest instead "Albertino le Tout Paris" in the town center. The holiday will become pure relaxation ... in town at Amalia’s, or a 15 minute walk away, in Ossuccio at the SIGMA Super Market, you can buy food and whatever else you may need to feel comfortable. In town you will also find a bank and a post office. The bank is located at the entrance to Sala and provides the service of a Bancomat (ATM). In addition to the walk alongside the lake, the village has a sandy beach (100 meters from home) with open access for tourists and children. Nearby Lenno (2 km) offers petrol station, hardware shop (Valdé), two supermarkets, a pharmacy, and English-speaking medical service. Emergency Hospital assistance is available in Menaggio. THE ISLAND ON FIRE Before your windows, one of the last Sundays of June, there is the most celebrated festival of Lake Como, the Feast of St. John, which lights up the night with the fantastic firework display of the Island on Fire. The party is almost six centuries old and commemorates the devastation of the island, on June 24, 1169, by Barbarossa, who, with the help of Como, set fire to the only island of the lake, destroying so every homestead. Legend has it that, three centuries after the horrific massacre, in 1435, St. John the Baptist appeared as a pilgrim to an islander and invited him to dig under a walnut tree, letting so emerge the ruins of the ancient basilica, together with the historical memory of the islanders who joyfully rebuilt their church. Since then, every year, the town people celebrate the memory of those events to honor St. John the Baptist. On the eve of the memorial, the lake is lighted up magnificently. Once upon a time, this was done with oil candles placed in snail shells, called lumaghitt (because of the custom of cooking snails with polenta on the eve of St. John’s) and today with candles placed in the boats, on the balconies of the houses and in the districts. A spectacular fireworks display "sets fire" to the island, the night and the Zoca de l'oli (the gulf between the island and the mainland), lighted up by thousands of lumaghitt and followed by a crowd on boats, jet skis and ferries. On Sunday, a procession of boats called Lucie, quaintly decorated and conducted by boatmen dressed in traditional clothing, brings back on the island the remains of the martyrs of the Pieve di Isola; on board there are usually representatives of the authorities, priests and festive people.
  • This how to enjoy Como lake : in a small village with an apartment directly on the seaport. What a peaceful and beautiful place . Perfect for a couple. • This place really lives up to expectations. If you want a true taste of Lake Como, stay here.

  • Beautiful place to stay when visiting Lake Como. As others have mentioned, it is outside of the touristy areas. Although this made for a very quiet, peaceful stay, we wouldn’t recommend to others staying outside of peak tourist season. We stayed in October, didn’t rent a car, and there are no taxis in Sala Comacina. Thankfully Manuela found us a ride from the ferry to the apartment on our arrival! I obviously didn’t do enough research beforehand to realize getting around town would be so difficult without a vehicle. But this has nothing to do with the AirBnB experience, which was exceptional! And we were able to explore Sala Comacina and Isola Comacina on foot. I just recommend having transportation planned ahead of time for getting to and from the ferry terminals if you are staying outside of the tourist season!

  • The apartment was very nice and well presented with great views out on to Lake Como. An enchanting place to stay.

    John And Val2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment has to be one of the finest places to stay on Lake Como. A wonderful location to explore other areas of the lake, but the Greenway walk is a must to see the local villages and stunning scenery. The local butchers and bakery are lovely friendly places to shop for provisions, the butchers is especially fine, selling wonderful wines (including the one served at George Clooney’s wedding) and cheeses too. Book now to avoid disappointment.

  • This place was true tranquility....a diamond on the shores of Lake Como. Two floors with spectacular views overlooking the only island on the lake. Tastefully decorated, spotless, had all the essentials one would need. A great and comfortable 'Home Away from Home!' Two restaurants a stones throw away and one on Isola Comacina (we missed going to this one, but will when we return). Sala Comacina is a great village and this place is amazing!

"One arm of Lake Como turns off to the south between two unbroken chains of mountains, which cut it up in a series of bays and inlets as the hills advance into the water and retreat again, until it suddenly grows much narrower and takes the appearance and the motion of a river between a headland on one side and a wide stretch of shore on the other...." (Alessandro Manzoni, The Betrothed). Mentioned in Manzoni's famous verses that describe the scenery where his story is set, Lake Como is one of the most delightful places in Italy (and probably in the world). Also known as Lake Lario, Lake Como is situated in Lombardy, between Padana plain and the Alps; of glacial origin, it is the third largest lake in Italy after Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore. It covers an area of 146 square kilometers. It is one of the deepest lake in the Europe and reaches a depth of 426 meters near Argegno. It is shaped like an upside-down "Y" and the lower arms are known as Como (the one to the west) and Lecco (the one to the east) whereas the long northern part is known as Colico. The Como branch is divided into three basins: the first is bordered by the city of Como, Moltrasio and Torno; the second ends between Laglio and Nesso and the third ends at Bellagio on Punta Blabianello. Here You can see the famous Villa Blabianello, owned by FAI (Italian Foundation for the Environment). The lake's principal distributary is the River Adda, that descends from the Valtellina at Colico and then exits at the Lecco branch. Other rivers, that end at Lake Como are the Mera, the Varrone, the Pioverna, the Fiumelatte (the shortest river in Italy), the Liro, the Telo and the Breggia. Due to its Mediterranean climate, it boasts luxuriant lakeside vegetation with flowers like azaleas, rhododendrons and camellias and plants like olive trees and palms. The only island on the lake is Isola Comacina, which is situated opposite a bay where a very good quality, though in limited quantity, of oil is produced. This area is called "Zoca de l'Oli"in local dialect. On the east side of the lake, in the Colico branch, there is a small bay, which is so deep-set that it looks like a basin, called the Laghetto di Piona with the Cistercian Abbey of Piona rising from its promontory. The village of Sala Comacina lays on the western shore of Lake Como, at the foot of Monte Costone, and is one of the most distinctive location on the lake. Over the past century, Sala Comacina was already considered an important holiday location, as it can be seen from the many villas located on the lake. One of these villas was owned by Cesare Beccaria, who hosted many famous literary figures, among them Alessandro Manzoni and Cesare Cantù. The lake's only island, Isola Comacina, lays opposite the village and can be reached only by boat. On the Island, a fourteenth century Church of San Giovanni and the remains of the little Church of Sant'Eufemia, which dates back to the seventh century (with refurbishing in the eleventh century) are worth to be visited, as well as the local restaurant "La Locanda dell'Isola". Another yearly event not to miss is the St. John festival (La Sagra di San'Giovanni) held the last week-end of June, with a lot of traditional food and beverage, and the fantastic, final fireworks show.
  • A great place. I would definitely stay here again. Good location for walking

  • Our stay at Como Riviera was phenomenal! The view from the deck is absolutely amazing. Thankful that we bought groceries because once we arrived, we did not want to leave. It was easy to find and felt safe and cozy. The bathrooom is large, clean, and beautiful. I can’t say much about the location in regards to shops and restaurants because we never left! I highly recommend this stylish and comfortable place!

The view from the balcony is mesmerizing, you can sit for hours on the balcony, drink cold prosecco and enjoy the views of Lake Como. The apartments have everything, and more. There is a parking place at any time of the day, very convenient if you have your own car. The owner was constantly in touch in case of questions. We were very pleased !!!

  • What a beautiful place to stay. Bed and sofa are comfy. The view is peaceful and super easy to get around! Be prepared, many curious lovely animals would stop by the balcony to check things out. We had a little trouble with the balcony door, but that turned out to be one of our funniest memory. All and all, will definitely recommend and stay again~

  • Great apartment, exactly what it looks like in the pictures! Our host was wonderful, the check-in experience was so easy, and he provided us with local tips and advice on what to do. He even provided a baby bed and a baby chair, everything was already in the apartment when we arrived. Thank you, I highly recommend this place when staying in Sala Comacina!

  • Wendy was such an incredible host, so thoughtful and generous. Superhost doesn’t really do Wendy justice. It was a real treat to stay in such a beautiful house with such a lovely couple. So perfect for seeing Lake Como in all its magnificence.

    Fran2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • I don’t know where to start. Wendy’s place is absolutely the best Airbnb you can stay at. Hands down. Her warm greeting, a tour of the grounds that surround the room, a warm breakfast the greets you every morning, recommendations for activities and restaurants around Lake Como, etc. We could not ask of anything more than the courtesy Wendy provides if you stay at her place. My wife and I made Lake Como our last stop of our honeymoon. Wendy’s place will be a memory we will hold on to forever. Already planning a return trip! Incredible.

    Taylor2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • From the beginning, Wendy was great with communication and got back to us fast about any questions we had about our stay. Upon our arrival, she was kind enough to meet us at the bus stop to welcome us and help with our bags to the room. As soon as you walk in, the place feels and looks very homey. The room was amazing! The view from the window in the bedroom has an amazing view of the lake whether day or night. May I add, the tub is to die for!! Wendy helped us out so much, whether it was where to go to eat or how to get a ticket and get on the bus. So amazing and made our stay that much better! She makes you a fresh breakfast with croissants and jam every morning and offers to wash your clothes if you need. I have never had a better host!! I really do wish I lived at Wendy’s place and I was so sad to leave. I wish I could give this place 6 stars.

    Gabrielle2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy's place is AMAZING and a must stay. Not only was the room absolutely perfect, but Wendy made it all the more special. She was so attentive and kind. My husband and I usually stay in private Airbnb's to have more privacy, so we were initially a little nervous about booking here, but it proved to be above and beyond what we could have asked for. The room and bathroom are on their own floor and it really feels like you have the place to yourself. When we arrived, there was a full fridge of goodies, including a bottle of prosecco that we drank out on the balcony. Wendy left a delicious breakfast for us every morning (I think our leisurely mornings here was our favorite part) and also left us cookies every afternoon. We felt so comfortable here and Wendy was just amazing and had the best recommendations. We would absolutely come back and would recommend this Airbnb to anyone.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wendy's home. She made us feel very welcome - it was like staying with a friend. She treated us to a fabulous breakfast which we enjoyed in the morning sun on the balcony looking out over beautiful Lake Como. It was idyllic. It could have been not more perfect.

    Angie2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy is a very warm, caring and sincere host! Her place was immaculate, the lake views were just what we wanted, and transit was easy! Her breakfast was the best we’ve ever had provided by a host! You will remember this room rental!

  • Wendy and Harold’s home is breathtaking. I was awed by this lovely and pristine room With so many great amenities and perfectly decorated. The view from the private balcony is divine. The bathroom is well appointed with a claw foot tub AND separate shower. Wendy prepared a scrumptious breakfast every day. There are so many fantastic feature that I could write a book about it. But the best part of staying with Wendy and Harold was how they made me feel like family with their kindness and gracious hosting skills. I’ve already made plans to return next year!! Thank you both for making Sala Comacina the best chapter of my Italy trip!

  • I honestly don't know how to start, or how to effectively express how amazing this apartment and host are. After a less than hospitable host in Florence and a crazy night of missing trains and busses, Wendy met us out on the street and greeted us with a hug and helped us carry our luggage to the room. While trying our best to cope with the overwhelming beauty of the space, she gave us all the info we'd need and then gave us a little tour of the area surrounding the building. She walked us to the nearby ferry stop, gave us (superb) restaurant recommendations, and assured us that she would be available to answer any questions we'd have throughout our stay, all while telling us how glad she was to have us staying with her. We felt incredibly comfortable in her home immediately. After a long day (and every night of our stay), I soaked in a candlelit bath and climbed into the most comfortable AirBnb bed I've ever been in. I was surprised at how heavy the blankets were, and how they instantly relieved stress just by sitting on top of me. Every local we talked to in Sala Comancina knew Wendy and spoke fondly of her. From discounts on dinner, free coffees, and offers to drive us for free, it's clear that Wendy has made a big impact on her neighbors in the best way possible. Every morning, Wendy would make us a delicious breakfast, which we'd enjoy on the terrace while listening to the church bells. Every touch was so thoughtful and well done, from the mini fridge amenities to the cute beach towels to the little cookies she'd put out for us during the day. Oh, and when it says laundry is available, she and her husband do it themselves! It was such a help to be halfway through our trip and be able to put our dirty clothes out and receive them back, clean and folded in a cute little basket. She also invited us into her office to help us navigate the insane ferry schedule, and looked up each day's bus schedule if we needed it. We've stayed in so many AirBnbs and have NEVER experienced this level of hospitality. Like I said, all of her food recommendations were a home run. The island restaurant with Benvenuto was incredible. San Giacomo in Bellagio had the best tomato and basil pasta. But our favorite restaurant was the one you can see right from the balcony. The lemon ravioli was to die for, and they served what might've been my favorite cappuccino in Italy. We spent two weeks in Italy, staying in the Amalfi Coast, Florence, and Rome, in addition to Como. When people ask us about the highlight of our trip, we can't help but think straight to Wendy's place! We will be shouting this place from the rooftops for a long time to come!

You'll be really welcome to Family Haven, an amazing spot facing Lake Como, with stunning Comacina Island view. It’s a perfect place for a couple with a great master suite; an ideal spot for family offering a lovely loft and 2 bathrooms; suitable for 5/6 guests having 2 sofa beds. It’s placed on the lake shore, in a quiet area, close to all town services. It’s at second floor of a village house, on 2 floors, bright and comfy, newly renewed. Come and enjoy its peace and charm! CIR013203-CNI-00031
The house is an exclusive location lakeside, "pieds dans l'eau", in a calm pedestrian area, near (about 100 meters) but far enough from the main road to get away from the noise and traffic. The apartment is very close to the beach and the tiny harbor, strategic for exploring lake by boat, bus or on foot. A garage (the inside measures are 6mx2.8mx2.4m(height): we park our Skoda Yeti car without problems, only being careful) is available on payment, 300m far from the house: you can reserve it at the cost of 10€ per day. In Sala Comacina there are a few public parking places along the Strada Statale 340 or along the only road going uphill from it (Viale degli Ulivi). If you want to see the house for yourself, search on You tube: "Sala Comacina video", the movie, (made by Mark Bender, an American camera operator) made with Mavic drone, seems like a perfect ad of F. H.! The house entrance is caught on the left of the boat in the first frame, then the whole house, with its circular turret, is caught in its beatiful location in the centre of Sala Comacina's tiny harbour, in front of the Comacina Island. Thanks to Mark ;-) PLEASE LOOK CAREFULLY AT THE DESCRIPTION, AT THE LIST OF ALL THE AMENITIES, AT THE RULES AND AT THE PICTURES, INCLUDING A MAP OF THE HOUSE WITH MEASUREMENTS, TO SEE IF F.H. REALLY MEETS YOUR NEEDS ;) The apartment, located on the second floor, without lift, is equipped with all modern comforts: air conditioning, central heating, wi-fi free connection, satellite TV. Since there is nobody else living or staying at the second/third floor of the building, you won’t be disturbed by anyone. The apartment actually consists of two floors, with a small loft: for your greatest convenience, on each floor there is a comfortable bathroom. The entrance is a welcoming and lovely open space, very bright thanks to the light coming in from the French door. This common space consists of two areas: the first area is the living area, furnished with two large sofa beds, which can be easily turned into two single beds or joined to form a double-bed at night. The second area is the dining area: it includes the kitchen, well equipped with stove, microwave, fridge, coffee maker and electric kettle, and the lunch table with 4 chairs (a folding table with two extra chairs is ready for use since it is necessary). The bathroom on this floor is fully-equipped, with a window facing the lake and the below square. When you are sitting down for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of Comacina Island and can listen like a soothing soundtrack to the sound of the waves! Climbing up the NEW, VERY SAFE INTERNAL STAIRS, you will reach the large master suite, which sports one king-size bed (160x200cm), a wardrobe, a dresser and a fully-equipped bathroom with the window. This master suite is a fabulous, exclusive layout for a couple: its full height ceiling provides a lovely uplifting ambience for relax. Over the master room, an open plan loft above is reachable by wooden staircase: it is a typical mansard with sloping roofs. Featuring a low ceiling (max high 1.90 in the corner, min high 1.30 at the end of the bed), a window and a queen- bed (140cmx200cm), the mansard floor sleep area is a great bonus for families seeking kid-friendly accomodation. At the end of description let us reporting Kate review (august 2019), one among many, about her 10-days stay: "We had the most incredible experience from start to finish of this booking! The apartment is exactly as in the photos and spotlessly clean...location is quite incredible in such a picturesque spot! We can’t fault any of the local amenities as had nothing but positive interactions with local restaurants, bakery and shops! Would highly recommend this property... What a wonderful 10 days we have had...very sad to leave but with some unforgettable memories. Thankyou so much for your hospitality Kate, Kal and Jack xx" Italiano: Family Haven è un vero paradiso affacciato sul lago di Como, con una vista strepitosa dell’Isola Comacina.
The house is a balcony on the lake, directly in front of the Comacina Island, in Sala Comacina, one of the most romantic village of the area. Note that Sala Comacina is a small town having all the basic services (listed in the ad) but without lively (and noisy !) night life. In Sala Comacina you can therefore have the possibility to experience Italian village life with every convenience close at hand: village bakery (with grocery supplies, news agency and bus tickets), butcher, three café/bars, three restaurants open year-round with an additional two open in season, bank with Bancomat (ATM), post office, and village church; all within 200 metres of the apartment. The neighborhood area is very safe, quiet, quaint and connected with other areas. A few steps from the house you can ferry by boat to Comacina Island; from here cruise lines offer regular service to the most beautiful locations on the Lake Como: Bellagio, Villa Balbianello, Varenna. Consider that directly by Sala Comacina there are a few ferries; there is great ferry service by Lenno, easily reachable through a comfortable walk in 15 minutes or by C10 bus or by car. In the village there is the C10 bus stop, so additionally or alternatively you can travel by bus and visit Cernobbio, Lenno, Villa Carlotta, Menaggio, Como. Anyway you can enjoy your holiday with a tour of the village, a visit by taxiboat to the Comacina Island, or a walk immersed in the beautiful nature of the renowed “Greenway Walk”, with access from further along Viale degli Ulivi near the ‘Yellow Chapel'. You can visit also the Romanesque churches, the Sanctuary of the Soccorso (UNESCO Site), the famous Villa Carlotta gardens (boat tour), Villa Balbianello (location of many famous movies), passing in front of Villa Oleandra, the property of George Clooney. For updated and very complete information I suggest you to visit "my lake como" (in English too), a website where you can find all the things to do, what to see, travel info about the west Lake Como area. Ristobar "Lido di Sala Comacina", just right the corner, and "La Tirlindana", just in front of the house (here a set menu is also available) are places where you can have lunch and dinner easy and ready. A few meters away, always overlooking the lake, there is also the "Taverna blu", where you can taste the local specialty foods: risotto with perch, or missoltini. If you want a snack, you can get a takeaway pizza/a beer/a sandwich from "Wine&bar" Le Tout Paris, via Statale 36, or you can eat there. You can easily get to Lido di Ossuccio by foot ( it's about 1.2km in 10/15 minutes, partially by a beatiful alley along the lake) and enjoy its beach and its bar or restaurant. Moving to Lenno, far 2-2.5 km about from Sala Comacina (an easy walk of 20/30 minutes), you can get to Lido di Lenno, or to frontlake "Ristorante Lenno" or to "Ristorante Plinio", with lake view. For those who love starred-chef food, all around the lake there are six Michelin stars! In addition to the newly-entered restaurant Berton al lago in Hotel Sereno in Torno (chef Berton), there is in Albavilla the Cantuccio (chef Mauro Elli); in Bellagio the Mistral of the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni (chef Ettore Bocchia); at Campione d'Italia Da Candida (chef Bernard Fournier); in Como - I Tigli in Theoria (chef Franco Caffara); in Pellio Intelvi La Locanda del Notaio (chef Edoardo Fumagalli). You can buy food and whatever else you need in Sala Comacina at Amalia’s bakery or at the opposite shop, Pianarosa butchery, or in Lenno, at the SIGMA Super Market. In Sala Comacina there are also a bank with ATM and a post office. In Sala Comacina there is a sandy beach (100 meters from home) with open access for tourists and children, anyway you can swim everywhere, also just in front of the house. Nearby Lenno (2.5 km) offers a laundromat, a gas station, hardware shop (Valdé), two supermarkets, a pharmacy, and English-speaking medical service. Emergency Hospital assistance is available in Menaggio.
  • A beautiful apartment right on the lake, you literally can’t be any closer to it. The views and sounds are stunning. If you want to be woken by the sound of lapping water and church bells and look out to a sunrise over the mountains then book this place. We were a family of 2 adults an 18 and 13 year old looking for a quiet few days to chill. We visited in October so out of season so a lot quieter than summer months but it suited us. Still plenty of local amenities open. The apartment is reached by a network of tiny steep cobbled streets and alley ways until you reach the waters edge. There are a couple of benches here where you can sit with your morning coffee and watch the lake come to life . The apartment is beautifully clean and well equipped with everything you need . The stair case is a very steep spiral ( you can use another staircase if you go up another flight outside the apartment) but there is a bathroom on both levels so you don’t need to use it unless going to bed. The loft space for the extra bed was great fun and well planned, again reached by a steep ladder but no problem for our kids, wouldn’t really recommend for young kids who might wake in the night ! Sofa beds downstairs create 2 extra singles. This place was perfect for us and I would definitely stay again as an older family or just as a couple. It’s wonderful here, the local bakery is friendly and great for breakfast brioche ( watch the road !) and the local bar was great for a pizza and beer on our first night. Parking is in a nearby free car park, we had no problem in October but imagine you might have to walk a little further in the summer. Manuela met us and gave us lots of great local tips and advice. Highly recommend this place.

  • Prompt reply to the contact, we had a good welcome by Mara. He explained what was most needed. Something to start the day ready in the fridge and for a breakfast. STUNNING VIEW, in a bucolic place. Nearby restaurants and a bakery / mini market nearby. Amalia, the bakery lady, a very nice and dear person. Much help in guiding bus tickets and stops. The only problem with accommodation is that for the elderly it gets a little more complicated with the internal stairs. I recommend.

  • This was our first time using Airbnb and after this trip it won’t be our last! Family haven was perfect for us and our 4 days in Lake Como. Apartment was spacious, clean and homely. The view was spectacular and really made us fall in love with the place. Both Cristina and Manuela were fantastic hosts, messaging us tips and useful information and also checking that everything was well during our stay. We couldn’t recommend this place enough. Thank you!

    Emily2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Cristina's place. Everything was like it is explained in the ad. Manuela met us by the parking garage and walked us to the house and explained everything to us. The house is right by the lake with great views. To get up to the beds you have to climb a set of pretty steep stairs. So if you are afraid of stairs, maybe this Airbnb is not for you. The little village of Sala Comacina is very cute and there are a lot of places to explore nearby.

  • We were warmly welcomed by Manuela, who explained everything to us. The apartment is exactly as described and very clean. It is very well equipped so we did not have to bring anything from home as is usual in the apartments. The communication with Cristina and Manuela was very good and we received a lot of information about Lake Como in advance. We took the bus C10 or the boat to go to Como, Bellagio and Varenna. There we visited the villas and their beautiful gardens. However, our favorite place was the Villa del Balbianello with its wonderful garden. We walked to the Villa and took the taxi boat back to Lenno, it was awesome. Especially recommended is the Greenway walk with breathtaking views. We always ate very well in the restaurants, especially the fresh fish tasted fantastic. Recommended restaurants: Locanda La Tirlindana, Lido di Sala Comacina, Taverna Bleu ( all in Sala Comacina), Trattoria San Giacomo (Ossuccio) and Albergo Ristorante Plinio (Lenno) The inhabitants of the charming village Sala Comacina were very nice and helpful, especially the lady in the bakery. All in all a romantic holiday in a cute village and very nice apartment. We will miss the beautiful view on the lake out of the living room and bedroom. We will definitely come back.

  • We had a great stay it is a wonderful place, ideally located and the view of the apartment is exceptional on the lake, feet in the water you can even swim 2m from the apartment! I highly recommend !!

  • Sala Comacina has to be one of the prettiest spots on Lake Como & the view from this apartment is heavenly - from both floors. The apt. is light, clean, spacious for a couple, & well-equipped, as well as quiet. It’s worth renting the garage as parking is impossible. We spent 6 nights here (the perfect length of time) & had good dinners at nearby restaurants - La Taverna Blu & La Locanda dell’Isola (the island across the way). You can pick up the Greenway hiking trail right in town. We will recommend it to our friends & hopefully return when the flowers are blooming in the different gardens around the lake.

Suite Liza is a private three-room retreat on the first floor of our home with a separate entrance via a large sheltered terrace overlooking Sala Comacina on the premier western shore of Lake Como. Your suite includes free Wi-Fi. CIR: 013203-CNI-00003
Suite Liza offers a three-room configuration of private sitting room with L-shaped lounge, small dining table with stools, refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster, and electric kettle with tea & coffee, sugar & milk. The double bedroom has a separate balcony and overlooks the main road. Double-glazing is provided but light sleepers may hear some noise intrusion. Your large private bathroom features spa-tub, toilet, bidet, and hand-basin. Use of a washing machine is available upon request.
In Sala the main square is called Piazza Matteotti. From here a water-taxi service connects to the island with its medieval history; may be better known today for Locanda del Isola Restaurant, famous for its celebrity status and set menu, unchanged since 1947 (cash only). The island’s La Botta (Barrel) Bar is a lovely place to enjoy relaxing refreshment after walking the island, or when returning to Sala by lake ferry, or simply to visit for an evening aperitivo as the sun sets the surrounding mountains aflame, arriving and returning by water taxi. In the square you'll also find Restaurant La Tirlindana with alfresco dining in season and and indoor during the colder months. The Lake’s many famous attractions are all within easy reach by car, local C10 bus, or regular ferry service (pontile near Taverna Bleu Hotel), which stops in Sala (tickets from Sala are available on board), during the season, or stopping more frequently at the island. Tourist attractions include villas such as Balbianello, Carlotta, and Melzi; the towns of, Cadenabbia, Bellagio, Varenna, and Menaggio, and the international ambiance of Cernobbio and exclusive Hotel Villa d’Este. In Como the ‘Centro Storico’ is a shoppers’ paradise with an easy-going charm, and enchanting historical ambiance. The Greenway Walk explores historic spots along the lake and connects from above the house (access from the Yellow Madonna along Via degli Ulivi near the cemetery), or by taking the ancient and unique Via dei Pini behind Pro-Loco. From Sala amble to Ossuccio and beyond to Lenno, Mezzegra, and Tremezzo (Villa Carlotta), finishing in Griante, a distance of some 8.5 km – meandering along the lakeshore and at other times higher up with panoramic views. The Greenway is easily doable in parts, as the walk touches C10 bus stops and ferry embarkation points along its path. The community of Sala provides a beach with swimming area set into the lake just along the ‘Lungo Lago’ below the house, or 50 metres down from Bar Romano/Caffé Milani (bottle shop) on Via Rocco. Another local watering hole is Cimino’s Bar Sport (which sells cigarettes), just below the house. Sit inside or on the roadside and watch the world race past. In nearby Lenno (2 km) the weekly market in the town square and along the waterfront around the beautiful ‘Baia di Venere’ (the Bay of Venus), has been drawing visitors for over 100 years to troll the stalls selling everything from vegetables, plants, clothing, smallgoods, hot roast meats, hardware, to caged birds. At any time the Lenno waterfront is a wonderful spot to enjoy a stroll or refreshment and both Bar Golfo and Bar Sport offer free Wi-Fi. In Lenno you'll also find a Sigma supermarket, petrol station, hardware shop (Valdé), and coffee shop with free Wi-Fi, all within a few metres of each other dispersed across the intersection of Via Rima and the main road, Via Statale (SS340). Close by is the more interesting local Dino’s supermarket, and a pharmacy (English spoken). Shop hours vary.

We loved everything, the apartment, the lake, the cruise and above all we loved Janett. She is the greatest host. She picked us up from the bus stop, made us feel like we were at home with her sweet and kind words and helped a lot with her recommendations . She also left a bottle of wine in the fridge for us, which was highly appreciated. Thank you so much for your hospitality Janett. I know for sure we will see you again..

    Sala Comacina, Lombardy, Italy

Studio Angelo in the lakeside-idyll of Sala Comacina opposite the island offers the perfect holiday space for two.
Located on the ground floor with an eagle-eyrie's view over the village and the bell-tower of St Bartolomeo (16C) towards Isola Comacina, the only island in Lake Como with access via steps up from the main road Via Statale (SS 340), or via the road Viale degli Ulivi, which runs in front of the apartment. Angelo's bijou studio affords lake-side access via steps leading down past the Church and Council Chambers and along Via Rava to Piazza Matteotti, Sala’s main lake-side square. Sala enjoys a unique micro-climate protected by the island with ambiance for year-round relaxation and sightseeing convenience. The studio offers a bright kitchen with dining table, comfortable queen-size bed and adjoining bathroom; a small bench and table ideal for 'alfresco' dining or simply to enjoy the panoramic views; and convenient street-side parking just in front - although a car is unnecessary to enjoy the sites of Lake Como where water taxi, regular seasonal lake ferry service, and C10 bus service are readily available. In Sala Comacina enjoy the experience of village life with every convenience close at hand: village bakery (with grocery supplies), selling bus tickets, butcher, three caffé/bars, three restaurants open year-round - with a further two in the warmer months; bank with Bancomat (ATM), post office, and village church: all within 300 metres of Studio Angelo. The renowned 'Greenway Walk' abuts the rear of the property with access from further along Viale degli Ulivi near the ‘Yellow Chapel'. Free Wi-Fi is available in the village at the local coffee/bar near the bank and at Enoteca 'Tours Paris' next to the bakery. The community of Sala provides a beach with enclosed swimming area set into the lake just 50 metres from Bar Romano/Caffé Milani on Via Rocco.
  • A great studio apartment with amazing views of the lake. Situated in Sala Comicina which is a hidden treasure if you’re not aware of it. Great walks through the hills and along the back alleys and streets (Greenway walk) highly recommend it. The locals are warm, welcoming and friendly, and most helpful. You’ll enjoy this little place, great set up for one or two to explore Como.

    Nelson2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Angelo’s place! We are on an extended road trip and needed a place with laundry facility. It was perfect. We also wanted a comfortable place to explore Lake Como and it was perfect for that also. The the location is very nice and near the quaint village of Sala Comacina with an easy ferry ride to the other villages. Also very nice restaurants in walking distance. Geraldine was very helpful in giving us tips on where to go.

    Lynn2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Angelo, Geraldine & Geraldine's husband were amazingly helpful and very accommodating to our late arrival time. The location is brilliant, the studio is perfect, very clean and had everything we need for our stay! It was an absolute pleasure and would definitely stay again

  • Angelo was a super kind guy, who welcomed us lovely and told us some tips about the town and surroundings but there is also a couple of brochures and maps on the table inside the apartment. The apartment itself is lovely, small but really clean and kitchen wise all the equipment needed is there. Coffee machine, toaster, pots, pans, cork screw... anything your heart desires. Geraldine was a lovely lady who we met when we checked out. She is a great host and clearly deserves that AirBnB Five Star batch :)

    Katja2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • As hosts, Angelo and his wife went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They are two of the most kind hearted and friendly people. We had an incredible stay and can’t recommend this apartment enough. From the moment we stepped off the bus we were delighted to be greeted by a lovely woman named Geraldine who walked us up to the apartment. The views were breathtaking. The apartment was sparkling clean with everything we needed. Geraldine talked us through everything to do in and around Sala Comacina. She also made us feel so welcome and safe. Sala Comacina is a lovely village, with easy access to the larger towns such as Como and Bellagio. There are a couple of lovely restaurants down by the water with beautiful views of the lake. Couldn’t recommend this apartment enough and we can’t wait to return. Lots of love, Ruth & Catriona

Casa Cordelia is situated in a prime front-row position where this beautifully honed gem sits like a captivating jewel on the shores of Lake Como. With virtually private water access across a hidden piazza in the picture-perfect village of Sala Comacina, opposite the lake’s only island, enjoy an authentic village-experience staying in a home with all mod cons; offering direct access to the lake from a unique waterfront setting, directly from your bedroom. Registration- CIR:013203-CNI-00027
From the piazza, a glass-fronted entry-door with external shutters (perfect for luggage access!), opens to reveal a pristine bedroom offering quality queen-size mattress, high thread-count linens and non-allergenic pillows, with modern en-suite bathroom comprising glassed shower cabinet, toilet, vanity basin, glass-shelved alcove, and heated towel-rack hung with soft waffle towels. Internal or external stairs lead up to the living space encompassing a bright open-plan sitting room incorporating kitchen and dining area. The modern fully-fitted kitchen offers direct lake-views through double-glazed windows incorporating electronic blinds, dishwasher, glass-top induction hob, combi-oven with micro/convection facility, integrated fridge/freezer, tumble-washer, and large separate condenser-dryer. A back door opens out to a shaded (shared) outdoor space. In front of the property in Piazza Caprani, an al-fresco setting is ideal for relaxing at any time of the day, and especially in the evening with an aperitivo; alternatively join the locals and visit a lively bar. The piazza in front of the house offers direct water access for swimming; alternatively, just a few meters away on Via San Rocco, the popular beach in Sala offers sand for sunning, and sandy access to the Lake for swimming.
In Sala the main square is called Piazza Matteotti. From here a water-taxi service connects to the island with its medieval history; maybe better known today for Locanda dell' Isola Restaurant, famous for its celebrity status and set menu, unchanged since 1947. The island’s La Botta (Barrel) Bar is a lovely place to enjoy relaxing refreshment after walking the island, or when returning to Sala by lake ferry, or simply to visit for an evening aperitivo as the sun sets the surrounding mountains aflame. In the square you'll also find Restaurant La Tirlindana with alfresco dining in season and indoors during the colder months. The Lake’s many famous attractions are all within easy reach by car, local C10 bus, or regular ferry service (pontile near Relais Hotel Taverna Bleu), from where tickets from Sala are available on board, or stopping more frequently at the island. Tourist attractions include villas such as Balbianello, Carlotta, and Melzi; the towns of Cadenabbia, Bellagio, Varenna, and Menaggio, and the international ambiance of Cernobbio and exclusive Hotel Villa d’Este. In Como the ‘Centro Storico’ is a shoppers’ paradise with an easy-going charm, and enchanting historical ambiance. The Greenway Walk explores historic spots along the lake and connects from above the house (access from the Yellow Chapel along Via degli Ulivi near the cemetery), or by taking the ancient and unique Via dei Pini behind Pro-Loco. From Sala amble to Ossuccio and beyond to Lenno, Mezzegra, and Tremezzo (Villa Carlotta), finishing in Griante, a distance of some 8 km – meandering along the lakeshore and at other times higher up with panoramic views. The Greenway is easily doable in parts, as the walk touches C10 bus stops and ferry embarkation points along its path. The community of Sala provides a beach with swimming area set into the lake at the beginning of the ‘Lungo Lago’, some 50 metres down from Bar Romano/Caffé Milani (bottle shop) on Via Rocco. Another local watering hole is Cimino’s Bar Sport (which sells cigarettes), next to the bank. Sit inside or on the roadside and watch the world race past. In nearby Lenno (1.8 km) the Tuesday weekly market in the town square and along the waterfront around the beautiful ‘Baia di Venere’ (the Bay of Venus), has been drawing visitors for over 100 years to troll the stalls selling everything from vegetables, plants, clothing, small goods, hot roast meats, hardware, to caged birds. At anytime the Lenno waterfront is a wonderful spot to enjoy a stroll or refreshment and both Bar Golfo and Bar Sport offer free Wi-Fi.
  • What an amazing flat. Meters from the lake. The most incredible view of the lake, the island and the hills in the background. The flat is incredibly clean, very stylish, but still very cosy. Everything you need is there. The local town Sala Comacina, is wonderful. A labyrinth of beautiful lanes connects the flat to the rest of the town's amenities. We can't wait to go back!

  • Amazing appartment in a fantastic small typical italian village. We received a warm welcome with a small village tour - I would definitely come back to this appartment.

  • Just had a lovely stay at Casa Cordelia. Apartment has everything you need and is right in amongst the local community set inside a quaint courtyard that stretches out to the lake. Roby is a fantastic wealth of local knowledge and we even joined him at the local bar to celebrate his birthday with a few limoncellos! Washing machine and dryer a godsend. We had a car so explored most days but local buses run all around. Would recommend this lovely apartment. Arrivederci!

  • Recommended by an "old acquaintance" Casa Cornelia did not disappoint us. Spotless with complete privacy, comfortable, good location and easy access to buses and boats to tour Lake Como's most beautiful places. Our hosts Julia, Wendy and Robbie were truly helpful with instructions. Check in experience, luggage and a welcome basket with all the essentials. Also coordinating taxi pick up to Milan Malpensa airport for our departure. Great experience!

    Gloria2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is in the most fabulous location with the lake waters lapping only a few yards from the front door. It is perfect for a romantic get away. We were a party of three and it was a tiny bit cramped, but it would be perfect for two.

  • My husband and I are extremely happy we chose this home for our stay, everything was great, the location was perfect and quaint, yet easy to access. Robby was amazingly helpful and a charm, he met us to help with our luggage and then showed us around the town! We were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary and could not have picked a better place. We loved it!

  • Simply wonderful! What a fantastic setting on lake Como! The flat is sparkling clean with all new mod coms and 2 very comfortable beds. Our family of 4 (2 children aged 8, 10) loved it and it fit us perfectly. Having coffee on the shore in the morning was heaven, and the sandy beach - just meters away was great fun for the kids. Wonderful neighbors and restaurants in town. Fab gelato in Lenno, a short drive away. Would highly recommend and hope to be back soon!

  • Sala Comacina was a wonderful place to unwind, and this villa is in the heart of the village. Most of our mornings were spent on the villa provided chairs at the local beach, or the stone park directly out the bedroom door. The evenings were spent traveling around the lake via ferry or car.

Possibilities to park nearby without much difficulty. Paola is very responsive and available. Thank you Roberto and thank you Paola for your little attentions! I highly recommend it!

The place was very clean and her sister-in-law Micaela was very helpful in communications on our arrival and departure. The restaurant below served great food and access to other towns via the bus and ferry were easy to find and navigate. I highly recommend this place.

Romantic holiday on Lake Como! This comfortable 1 bedroom apartment is the ideally escape for a full relax on the lakeside. Perfectly suitable for couples, it can also accomodate families with 1-2 kids , looking for an unforgetable "Italian holiday"!
Cà Regina 1 Apartment offers a comfortable accomodation for up to 4 guests (4 adults or families with 2 kids), providing a cozy open space living area with well equipped kitchen, a sofa and a double bed, 1 bedroom with double bed and one bathroom with shower. Additional features are the private terrace with stunning lake view and free parking next to the residence.
"One arm of Lake Como turns off to the south between two unbroken chains of mountains, which cut it up in a series of bays and inlets as the hills advance into the water and retreat again, untill it suddenly grows much narrower and takes the appearance and the motion of a river between a headland on one side and a wide stretch of shore on the other...." (Alessandro Manzoni, The Betrothed). Mentioned in Manzoni's famous verses that describe the scenery where his story is set, Lake como is one of the most delightful places in Italy (and probably in the world). Also known as Lake Lario, Lake Como is situatde in Lonbardy, between Padana plain and the Alps; of glacial origin, it is the third largest lake in Italy after Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore. It covers ana rea of 146 square kilometres. It is one of the deepest lake in the Europe and reaches a depth of 426 metres near Argegno.

    Hardy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very lovely stay at Roberto’s, the views from the loft were even more stunning than the photos, such a beautiful area. Geraldine was there to welcome us and was a lovely friendly lady, introducing us to a local restaurant as well as to the ‘locals’ bar where we met Max & May who were very welcoming. We would definitely recommend Roberto’s place, it was very tidy and comfortable with everything we needed. His parents stayed for a few days downstairs whilst we were there, and they were very friendly and welcoming too, even giving us a Toblerone because it was from their home of Switzerland. A lovely relaxing week, waking up to that amazing view every morning, everyone must experience that!

    Judith2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Everything listed in the writeup is as stated very personable family atmosphere. Everything you would need for a couple and an outstanding view from the balcony. Town has 3 good restaurants and access to the lake ferry is a short walk through town. Town is quiet but close to other more touristy towns. Would return to this apartment if we return to the area.

    Paul2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was a wonderful stay at Roberto's place. We cannot describe what we felt when we open the door and saw the view in front of us....we expected a nice view from the photos but ...we left speechless...the sun helped also :) Roberto , his parents and Geraldine are great and very kind people with the smile on their faces. If we ever been again at lake Como , we will stay there again!!

  • Janett & Liza’s place is INCREDIBLE!! Absolutely brilliant & breath taking. The view makes you wanna get up & go explore the lake every morning. Lake Como is magical, but Janett & Liza’s place makes it that much more special. My boyfriend & I had the best time. The apartment is right in front of the ferry stop so it’s EXTREMELY easy to get around the lake. It was so wonderful & we absolutely recommend it!!

  • Janett was extremely friendly and thoughtful as she offered us a Prosecco surprise bottle for my friends birthday ! Communication was excellent, great welcome and tips for local restaurants within the village. The studio is amazing, very clean, with modern facilities, and the view from the room and the balcony is exceptional. Definitely recommend this little home for staying in Lake Como !

  • A top modern studio in a quiet village. Lovely morning sun on a beautiful terrace which we spent a lot of time. Great views and the hosts are just lovely people. Short way to many great experiences. Bring good walking shoes and walk the Greenway.

  • YOU MUST BOOK THIS PLACE! We spent a few days here during our honeymoon and the hosts went out of their way to ensure we had the best time. From personally collecting us from the bus stop, walking us through the space to ensure we knew the apt and the town, and providing local directions and recommendations— It was all perfect! They also arranged a discounted private car for us to get to an early train when we left. The apartment itself was very clean and the view from the balcony is spectacular — we spent evening hours here just taking in the lake! The town itself was a perfect match for us, quiet with a very local flavor — not touristy however super easy via bus to all the major tourist locations. Highly recommend this Airbnb!!

  • You will find a lovely suite with an amazing view! Everything you need seems to have been anticipated and there is a real feel of luxury. Communication was excellent and Janett gave us some great tips about local restaurants and where to buy bread etc. We used the ferry service around the Lake and also walked on the Greenway path behind the church. I wish we could have stayed longer.

    Antony2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Liza's suite was perfect for our first visit to Lake Como and Sala Comacina. Janett & Liza were incredible hosts and welcomed us with open arms. When we entered the suite, the beautiful view and cleanliness of the space took my breath away. The size and location were excellent and added another level of romance for our honeymoon. Sala is a small town with just a few restaurants and bars nearby - perfect for anyone looking for some peace and quiet. There is a ferry VERY close to the suite that runs several times a day to the other towns along the lake which allowed for a day trip to Bellagio. We can't wait to come back again!

The central kitchen includes a 4-burner cooker with oven, microwave, and a two-door fridge. The adjacent bathroom features glassed shower enclosure, toilet, bidet, vanity, and a washing machine. Free wi-fi is included in the apartment. The apartment can be booked in conjunction with the apartment below (see Lake Front Holiday Home for 10 people (Airbnb.com/rooms/1 3 4 4 3 9 6 0), to sleep a total of 10 guests in three bedrooms and sofa-bed, with 2 bathrooms and two kitchens; ideal for a group of friends! The terrace overlooks the garden below and offers far-reaching views of Lake Como: to the right over the village beach with swimming area set into the lake, with the ferry pontile along the ‘Lungo Lago’ walkway beyond; and to the left, the iconic orange tower of Villa Camanni.
Just up from the apartment on Via San Rocco you'll find Max’s Bar Milani offering bottled water, beer, wine, and spirits, along with coffee and ice-creams. In Sala Comacina you may also enjoy the experience of village life with every convenience close at hand: village bakery (with grocery supplies), artisan butcher, three caffé/bars, three restaurants open year-round - with a further two in the warmer months; bank with Bancomat (ATM), post office, and village church: all within 300 metres of Appartamento Soleluna.
  • Fantastic spot on the lake! Roby welcomed us and was so helpful. We loved our stay here and would go back! Great for our family of 5!

  • Matteo’s apartment is awesome. Check in with his friend Robbie was a breeze and really enjoyable. We went from arriving as tourists to feeling like locals immediately. Great restaurant and bar suggestions- places to buy food, park, banks, etc..: they had it all and took the mystery out of staying in an unknown place! The apartment is very simple and a bit “old world” but to be expected from an old family house. It is clean, very clean, and charming with unbelievable views. Open your eyes from bed in the morning with the lake right there... it’s a gem!!! If your looking for a simple yet amazing como getaway at a perfect price this place is it!!!!

  • We had a very good stay at Matteo. It is a small paradise, in a typical village and really ideally placed for visits. Robbie who greeted us was very kind and caring, good advice and French! We had the beach for us and all the shops nearby and with a smile, we will come back!

    Maud2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • For the most spectacular view of Lake Como, stay in Matéo’s place! There is a public beach and swimming spot right next-door. Within walking distance is a bakery, butcher, wine shop and restaurants. It’s a quiet retreat compared to crowded towns around Lake Como. The best part are the fabulous people in the village.

    Johanna2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic location. We had a great time with our two small children. The hosts were great and really responsive. It's a beautiful place, with an unbelievable view. Highly recommended.

    Jonathan2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location in a quaint village. We stay in Sala frequently to visit family and really enjoyed our stay at Matteo’s place. The balcony is amazing, great views and a wonderful spot for cafe and aperitivo. Our boys enjoyed the bunk beds. The shower is incredibly small, but this is typical for most places around here. We would definitely stay here again.

    Kari2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. The host has been easy to reach and check-in went very well, including a brief tour through the small town. The place has an amazing terrace right at the shore of lake Como, having breakfast on the terrace has been amazing every time. Restaurants and small shops for groceries are nearby as well as the ferry harbor. We recommend Matteo's place for anybody looking for a place with great views directly at lake Como.

  • Matteo's villa is located right on Lake Como as advertised. The villa has lots of charm being in a very old building in an old village with tons of character. Matteo's friend, Robbie, was wonderful, friendly, accessible and full of great information to help us immerse ourselves into the community. There is a swimming beach right out the front door and the ferry dock is about 50 yards away and very accessible to touring Lake Como and visiting the other old towns located along the lake. Sala Comacina is an old village with narrow cobbled alley ways. We loved our stay at the villa and in the village. We rode the ferry around the North part of Lake Como which was a great value and neat trip.

Casa Geraldine in the lakeside-idyll of Sala Comacina is the perfect holiday home for a romantic getaway for two, with space for four.
Extending over two levels Casa Geraldine is situated just metres from Piazza Matteotti on the shores of Lake Como. Protected by Isola Comacina (the only island in Lake Como), the village of Sala enjoys a unique micro-climate with ambiance for year-round relaxation and site-seeing convenience. The sitting area offers a comfortable new sofa-bed, an arm chair, and two cane easy chairs, a flat-screen TV, and an open fire for cosy winter warmth. An internal spiral-staircase leads up to the bedroom and bathroom on the second floor. A baby cot is available on request. A washing machine is at your disposal in the cellar. The village of Sala Comacina offers the experience of village life with every convenience close at hand: village bakery (with grocery supplies), artisan butcher, three café/bars, three restaurants open year-round - with a further two in the warmer months; bank with Bancomat (ATM), post office, and village church: all within 200 metres of Casa Geraldine. Further more, the community of Sala provides a beach with enclosed swimming area set into the lake just 200 metres around the corner down from Max’s bar on Via Rocco.
  • I highly recommend staying at this apartment. Right next to the house is one of the most delicious restaurants in the area. It is a perfect location to take the ferry to Bellagio. Geraldine greeted me with such generosity and hospitality. I got lost and her husband came to even pick me up. All in all a truly wonderful stay.

    Ari2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Geraldine goes above and beyond to welcome her guests and provide them with a great place to stay. If you are looking for a quiet place to get away and relax, live the Italian village life and don’t mind the absence of a view of the lake from the room, this is the place to come to.

    Charles2019-09-13T00:00:00Z

  • It is tough to add to the already glowing reviews for Geraldine and her apartment, but we had a wonderful stay in Sala Comacina. The home is nicely decorated and very confortable in a beautiful, quiet town. Geraldine is a wonderfully kind person and met us at the bus station and brought us to the apartment. She was very helpful in giving us tips for exploring Lake Como. The space itself is minutes away from an amazing restaurant--possibly the best meal I've ever eaten. The ferry to other towns along the lake is a five minute walk from the space. There is also a small beach with access to the lake nearby. In sum, we had a wonderful stay, and I couldn't recommend Geraldine's place enough. If you want to visit Lake Como, stay here. You will be very happy that you did.

    Ryan2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is my third time staying in Geraldine's place which I always like to describe as an English tea garden apartment that was dropped in the dreamy town of Sala Comacina. When you book with Geraldine, you are not only getting an uber clean apartment with everything you need to make your stay comfortable...but, you also get Geraldine who is just this amazingly beautiful soul. As always, my trip was perfect and my life is so much richer since I walked into this village five years ago. Coming back to the lake is always coming back home now <3. Book with confidence...

  • Casa Geraldine is a cozy little gem nestled near the edge of Lago Como. Geraldine is a delightful host who really makes you feel at home. The space is super clean, charming, and well situated between local shops and eateries. I’ll definitely be back.

  • Our family enjoyed Gloria’s apartment immensely. Lovely little patio to eat and sip while looking out upon beautiful Lake Como. Sala C is very peaceful little town—walkable on an off-street path to larger town Lenno where ferry service very easy to other towns on the lake. The apartment rooms are spacious and clean. We appreciated the private garage for our car. Gloria greeted us warmly and timely and shared thoughts as to what touristing we might most enjoy for our limited stay. We highly recommend!

    Annette2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Gloria’s apartment is wonderful. She is so very helpful & her recommendations are gold. It is also worth mentioning that she does provide a parking space (safe in garage). Lake Como is popular and parking can be tricky. Our bed was super comfy & the shower had great water pressure. The whole place is very clean & the view of the lake is outstanding. Relaxing vibe, charming host & family, great food & wine within walking distance what more do you need for the perfect relaxing Italian vacation.

    Marguerite2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Gloria and her family made our Lake Como visit phenomenal. Their warmth and helpfulness made each day special. The home is exceptionally clean and the location and views were outstanding. The Greenway and Ferries were easily accessible and we were able to visit most of the area without the need of a car. We will miss the friendship of our hosts.

    Rodney2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay. Gloria and her wonderful family were perfect hosts, always helpful with anything we needed. The location is perfect. Morning coffee overlooking the lake every was just as beautiful as the evening sunsets. Gloria’s reviews say it all. I must emphasize how nice it was to have private parking. We never had to worry about where to park after coming back from a long day. Will definitely stay again on our next trip.

    John2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The location is in front of the island of Sarakomatina, and it is a great location with a view of Lake Como. On the first floor, the wind from the mountain side did not escape, so it was a little difficult to sleep on hot days in midsummer, but such days were rare and it was cool enough to stay without air conditioning. There is no inconvenience with everything you need, and the garage is safe with a shutter. The street in front of the house is narrow and full of roadsides, and it is difficult to alternate.

    Michiko2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice apartment, spacious, clean and well equipped. The view is really beautiful and Gloria is charming. We had a very nice week.

Lake Como is a lake of glacial origin in Lombardy, Italy. The lake is 46 kilometers (28.5 miles) long and 4.5 kilometers (2.8 miles) wide at its widest point. It has an area of 146 square kilometers (56 square miles), making it the third-largest lake in Italy, after Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore. The lake is shaped much like an inverted letter “Y”. Its surface is 198 meters (650 feet) above sea level. Its average depth is 154 meters (505 feet). At over 425 meters (1,394 feet) deep, it is one of the deepest lakes in Europe. Lake Como’s depth is one reason for its remarkably blue water, which has made it one of Italy’s most picturesque natural destinations. It has about 160 kilometers (100 miles) of shoreline.
  • Perfectly located and very bright apartment. 4 large bedrooms and fully equipped kitchen suites companies of all sizes. A magical view. Apartment is located at sunny size of the cake, so all the view is so unbelievably beautiful. The host is very nice and helpful.

    Benjamin2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The thoughtful division (3 floors) of the apartment we had family / couple / individual each our private area, which made the stay very pleasant. The welcome from Matteo, his tips and availability made us feel very welcome. The mattresses were great (comfortable supportive), enough towels, sheets, warm water. The terraces allowed wonderful sunbathing (also in October) with a fantastic view !!!! Very fine restaurant within walking distance. The wellness area with sauna, jacuzzi and pool was used extensively by us. And although other guests were there, we often had the facility for ourselves. The covered, closed parking lot is a big plus. We like to come back.

    Yvonne2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastically spacious apartment with lots of natural light and good facilities. The highlight has to be the amazing view from the spacious balcony / veranda which is perfect for breakfasts, barbecues and drinks. Finally, Matteo was the perfect host with great recommendations and insights for the local area, and could not be more helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend for families and large groups.

    Chris2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • A very large and very well located apartment with wonderful views 5 min walk to very good restaurants. Go for it !

    Louis2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 10 had the most wonderful time in this large apartment. We enjoyed what is probably one of the best views in all of Como Lake from the large and beautiful terrace. The apartment itself was very comfortable for our large group, everything was sparkling clean and well thought out. Matteo, the owner, was a wonderful host who was available throughout our stay and very helpful with tips (restaurants, boat rental, grocery store, etc) to help us enjoy our vacation. The indoor pool and jacuzzi area were great as well. We enjoyed living in the small quiet town of Scala Comacina and were able to visit other towns such as Mennagio by car, and Bellagio by ferry. It was great to have the garage with space for two cars and were able to find parking outside for an additional car as well. We would definitely recommend this residence to anyone and would love to come back!

    Ute2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • The view over Sala Comacina and Lake Como is superb. Great location. The apartment is fabulous and easily slept 8 male cyclists plus bikes. Matteo was an excellent host providing lots of tips and recommendations.

  • Wonderful location, great amenities and no words are sufficient to describe how helpful Roby has been. We had an amazing stay with two kids, it helped that we had a small beach area just next to the apartment, for kids to play for longer hours. Just keep in mind bus and ferry schedules while planning your days !

  • What a delicious stay and a relaxing quiet retreat away from the city! Thank you so much!

    Johanna2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • A nice apartment in a charming town. Robbie, the manager of the apartment, is a local, so his "get acquainted" tour of the town was very helpful. The kitchen is updated and has whatever you might need if you want to cook. We were delighted that the fridge and pantry were stocked with bottled water, milk, coffee, Prosecco, Melba toast and marmalade. Furnishings and bathrooms are pretty basic, but view from downstairs bedroom and upstairs sitting room were stunning. Very steep stairs to the upstairs, where second bedroom and sitting room are located. All in all a great place to stay.

    Sarah2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved Rosie‘s. Peaceful, stunning view and a very tasteful apartment. We will come back. Also many thanks to Robbie for the warm welcoming and check out

    Edith2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible location on the lake with stunning views. The house is well equipped with all you need to self cater but worth stocking up on route as provisions are limited in the village. Really had a fantastic couple of days .. lovely house with new furnishings. I highly recommend a stay.

  • A perfect place if you want a quiet relaxing holiday with an amazing view!

    Margaret2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful "local" experience. While Lake Como is quite a popular and crowded destination, Rosie's place in Sala Comacina was a wonderful, local experience. Not too many tourists and lots of locals to surround yourself with. The beach and lake access right outside of the apartment is super convenient and the sounds of children laughing and playing throughout the day brings much joy. There are enough amenities near by to live very comfortably. The ferry in Sala C is convenient even though the schedule is spotty since it is a small stop. Easy to get to larger ports with more ferry service. The apartment was wonderful and filled with conveniences like coffee, milk, water & plenty of destination brochures. No A/C but with open windows and fans, we slept well on the comfortable arrangements. Thank you Rosie and Robbie for all your help!

    Nicholas2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Robbie is a gracious host! He showed us around the town and had breakfast items and prosecco for us. The apartment is very well appointed and the kitchen is nicely stocked. It’s right on the lake and you can swim from the small beach that is in front of the house. Beach towels are also provided! It’s a bit noisy during the day in summer because of proximity to be beach, but you will be outside enjoying the lake anyway. Do take advantage of a private parking for a fee nearby as streets are narrow and parking at the church is limited. If you plan to rent a boat, reserve as soon as you get there (or try calling the place called Hiring a Boat at the Comacina Island but located in Ossuccio). The two level apartment had plenty of space for our family of 4, the pictures make it look smaller. The shower had plenty supply of hot water. The view from top level is nice and there are a few waterfront restaurants nearby.

  • Mara's apartment is an absolute find! Great location, close to the beach, the local shop and the ferry. It has easy access to the Greenway, which is useful if, like us, you don't have a car and makes for a more pleasant wander to the next town. The real jewel of the apartment is that it comes with it's own outdoor space, which is great for eating al fresco while watching the sun set over the lake. Everything was impeccably clean, and Mara had left a few basics in the fridge for us. Wifi was great, shower pressure excellent, and the kitchen was stocked with everything you'd need. A few reviews mentioned the noise from the road at night, but I think this isn't an inconvenience when considering the whole package. Mara is especially accommodating and friendly - we arrived by bus and she came to meet us at the bus stop. Finally, a plug for Sala Comacina itself - it's a smaller and therefore quieter town than some of the others on the lake which can be swamped by other tourists.

  • we really enjoyed our stay at mara’s place. she provided us with tons of information about the nearby areas and the greenway. it was a lovely view to wake up to and very comfortable space. reliable and solid internet connection which was important for my partners work. it’s located directly on a main street, which seemed scary at first, but fortunately we found the cars to be cautious and courteous to pedestrians. we were never concerned when crossing or unlocking the gate.

    Crystal2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mara was a great hostess who greeted us warmly, responded to our requests, had surprises in store for us and thank you very much for the super good grapes. The apartment was very clean and practical. Only the car noise from the street was disturbing for us.

    Monika2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great little apartment in a great little town. Sala Comacina is the perfect town from which to explore Lake Como and Mara's place is perfectly situated in the town. The apartment is comfy, has everything you need and Mara's hospitality is unmatched. For those that are noise sensitive, it can be a bit noisy as the windows face the main road and cars and trucks are always zipping by but it slows down at night.

    Danielle2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent welcome, clean and well furnished accommodation. Mara proved to be helpful and kind.

Apartamento Stelle opens to a lakefront lawn with direct water access shared with my other apartment Soleluna situated above - please see 'Lakefront Holiday Getaway'. Registration number CIR:013203-CNI-00016
Appartamento Stella is set on the ground floor of an historic building (once a monastery) with entry via an imposing wooden door, and across a small courtyard with entry to the apartment on the ground floor via the bedroom. Situated by the lake, the home is in a secluded position away from the main road, near the village beach, and ideal for a couple or a family, or a group of friends. The small kitchen/dining/sitting room opens to the rear garden by the lake ideal for alfresco dining or relaxing. From here an iron ladder offers access to the lake and a small lakeside jetty (see House Rules). The large bedroom is located at the rear of the apartment. A feature is the wooden boat suspended from the ceiling evoking images of the past when this room was used for boat storage and repairs for the property as a whole, when it was a monastery... the stone tracks that were utilised to bring boats to the water are still visible in the lawn outside. A modern kitchen includes a 4-burner cook-top, microwave, and a small fridge. Along the passage way a modern bathroom features glassed shower enclosure, toilet, and handbasin. Free wi-fi is included in the apartment. The apartment can be booked in conjunction with the apartment above (see Lake Front Holiday Home for 10 people (Airbnb.com/rooms/1 3 4 4 3 9 6 0), to sleep a total of 10 guests in three bedrooms and sofa-bed, with 2 bathrooms and two kitchens; ideal for a group of friends! The secluded shared garden offers views of the lake and across to Lezzeno, and to the right over the village beach with swimming area set into the lake, with the lake-ferry pontile along the ‘Lungo Lago’ walkway beyond, adjacent to Taverna Bleu (ferry tickets from Sala are available onboard).
Just up from the apartment on Via San Rocco you'll find Max’s Bar Milani offering bottled water, beer, wine, and spirits, along with coffee and ice-creams. In Sala Comacina you may also enjoy the experience of village life with every convenience close at hand: village bakery (with grocery supplies), artisan butcher, three caffé/bars, three restaurants open year-round - with a further two in the warmer months; bank with Bancomat (ATM), post office, and village church: all within 300 metres of Appartamento Stella.
  • Very nice quiet and welcoming place thank you very much for your welcome and see you soon

  • Amazing place. We first stayed upstairs and loved it so much we booked the downstairs for 4 extra nights. The place and location on the lake is superb. The village is full of the loveliest and sweetest people. Was like living in a la dolce vita film. Will be back ASAP! Thanks to Matteo, Laura, Antonella and especially Robbie... you guys made it awesome- our little “Sala famiglia!” A presto!

    Billy2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Matteo was a great host online, he was patient and answered many questions of mine, and never made me feel bad for asking so many questions. (He also does put a lot of that info online) His friend Robbie met us and showed us around the small village, and knew everyone, which made me feel like we got a peek into a different world. The real gem is the town - slow pace of life, friendly vibes, and incredible food. I will note that the direct access to water from the listing is not the easiest to navigate, but the village swim area is literally just out the front door and ten steps away... we really enjoyed our holiday here. So lovely.

  • It's hard to find the words to describe how we feel about this place. It was magical, with views over the lake towards beautiful mountains and private access to the Greenway del Lago walk. The hospitality and communication from Francesca was outstanding. The bus stop/parking is a very easy 50m walk, and we were situated close to some lovely villages. The apartment is well equipped for cooking, spacious, modern, and very comfortable. We also had a beautiful terrace and garden outside to enjoy. It was truly a highlight of our trip!

    Leanne2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We were extremely pleased that we chose this place for our holiday. The apartments were well equipped and in excellent condition. Everything is clean and comfortable. Several times did a barbecue in the garden. And what kind of unreal views open from the window and the verandas, beyond words. The village itself is very nice and cozy, at the local bar they bought very tasty croissants in the mornings :) C10 bus goes from Como (ask the driver to stop at the first stop in Sala Komachine, otherwise we were stopped at the second stop and it was uncomfortable to go along the road with bags) . We were satisfied with the rest 100% and would gladly return to this place!

  • There are no words to describe how exceptional this home is and the dream it is to stay there! We rented this beautiful home for the days before and after our wedding and we were so fortunate to find the best rental villa on Lake Como! Giuliano Molli and his family were extremely kind, professional, and very helpful - welcoming us in person at check in and answering all kinds of questions via Airbnb messages very promptly months before our arrival. There was also lots of helpful information left for guests in the home (including taxi service) which proved to be very useful during our stay. We cannot speak more highly of our hosts!! The home is spotless, modern, and the view of the lake is unbeatable. It was a perfect place to stay with our close friends, enjoy the lake and our very special time together. We cannot say enough good things and are forever grateful to the Molli family! We definitely hope to visit again!!

The hospitality was prefect with quick responses to questions and helping point us in the right direction when planning out our trip. The town of Sala Comacina is quiet and perfect if you want to stay in an area where there isn't a lot of tourists, but can easily get around to see everything Lake Como has to offer. Stayed here with my family that included a 6 year old, 4 year old, and 2 month old and it was perfect for all. Also, make sure you dine at the house owner's restaurant, you don't want to miss out on a great meal! Amazing house, amazing hospitality, amazing view all makes for an amazing holiday.

  • Villa Molli is every bit as beautiful as the pictures show. The owners were very helpful in restaurant recommendations and in directing us to a wakeboard instructor who taught five of my grandchildren to wakeboard. Sala Comacina is a beautiful place and Lake Como is magical

  • Amazing! Molli Family were perfect hosts from start to finish. From the time our reservation was confirmed they were incredibly responsive, informative, and accommodating. As for the Villa . . . It exceeded our expectations!! You will not find a more spectacular view. The Molli family should be so proud of what they have built. We are excited for other visitors to experience the same hospitality!

The house "Balcone sull’Isola" is situated just a few steps away from the lake, overlooking a little square of a charming old village opposite “Isola Comacina”. Right behind the house you can access “the greenway” a pedestrian footpath from which you can admire the lake, its beautiful panoramas and the villas. A few steps away from the house, there is a ferry that takes you to the island, where from you will be able to catch the boat to visit the most beautiful places of the lake.
On the ground/first floor there is the kitchen, small but well equipped, the dining room and the living room with a sofa bed for two. The balcony overlooking the lake, allows you to have lunch or simply relax on it or to access internet in absolute tranquility. The bathroom is functional and modern. On the upper floor, reachable through a shared staircase with another separate mini apartment, there are two bedrooms. From the double bed bedroom you can enjoy a wonderful view of the island. The house is ideal for two or three people, but can also accommodate families with two or three boys. The house is very well equipped with everything needed: dishes, glasses, cutlery, towels, sheets and blankets in large quantities.
In the village of Sala Comacina there are bars, excellent restaurants, grocery stores and a nice little beach where you can sunbathe and have a swim in the lake.
  • Lella's beautiful apartment was incredible to stay in! An amazing view of the lake from the window, really lovely to wake up to. Lella was super helpful and very friendly when we met her at check-in. The location was wonderful, Sala Comacina is a lovely village and the island just opposite is spectacular. We were able to reach other parts of the lake with ease by bus and boat to explore! All in all, would definitely recommend staying at Lella's stunning place, we had an awesome time :)

  • This is a wonderful apartment with a lot of local feeling. A unique situation with possibilities to enjoy local facilities like restaurants and bars and reach the rest of the villages either by car, by boat or by bus. Enjoy.

  • We stayed in Bellagio last year and preferred Sala for its quiet beauty & authenticity. tiny alley ways, hidden piazza! Our family of 4 stayed children ages 10 + 12. Lella's house I would describe as proper vintage it was her grandmothers and has soul. She is very generous with towels which was great, it has 3 bedrooms. You just sit on the balcony and watch Italian life go by, occasionally moving to take a seat on the benches in front of the apartment. We love swimming and you can do this in front of the apartment or at the "beach" few mins walk. Play with the cat Luna, or feed the swans and ducks. It is very safe for older children to be walking in the old part of Sala unsupervised no traffic, small community. Our youngest daughter walked up to Amalia's bakery everyday - delicious things for breakfast. Ferries- not as frequent as other parts of the lake but we easily visited Bellagio, and drove to Menagio to get ferry to Varrena just so we were not limited in when we could leave. Mosquitoes - There are some! Bring repellent, candles & after Sting cream! Groceries- If you plan to cook stock up with fresh fruit veg at Supermarket in Lenno 2k away before you arrive, there is a little truck that sells fruit & veg one day a week, very good bakery & butchers near by, the kitchen is small but I found it worked very well and Lella left alot of basic ingredients- Dry store ingredients ,pasta, oil, salt, etc Parking - up steep hill at church usually we got a space Ice Cream- La Fabrica Del Gelato Lenno is closest Very good family restaurant just beside it in Lenno- burgers excellent! 3 restaurants in Sala Activities- Greenway best parts are from Sala either direction but do not miss nativity Museum near Lenno if you have children & wander around Bonzanigos streets, Island bring picnic go to beach there for swim, Bicisport for bike hire Lenno, Canyon adventure Lenno Lake Como Adventures not cheap but a once off experience, You can walk to entrance Villa Balbinello approx 45 mins. Unesco site 14 chapels Santuario Della Madonna Del Soccorso Thankyou Lella

  • Small house very well located facing the lake. We were able to enjoy the car-free area. The house is well appointed, clean and functional. Lenna is a lovely host who is very available. She was responsive and gave us good advice. I recommend this place without hesitation.

  • Great apartment with more than enough space for a family of 4 and a beautiful view. Close to restaurants and you can swim in the lake in front of the apartment.

  • Upon arrival, I immediately felt a part of the beautiful community of Sala Comacina. Lella's apartment with stunning views of Lake Como has left me with a heart full of memories. The type your mind needs to escape to on occasion. We were immediately welcomed by Lella and her daughter to help us park the car, bring our luggage to the apartment (a small jaunt and easy especially if you're traveling lightly.) They offered thorough explanations of the area and all we needed to make her home ours. Plenty of amenities in the kitchen and bathroom. The apartment was perfect for our group of five made up partly of children. The quarters are smaller but we were very comfortable. Thankfully Lella provided fans for us too to keep cool during the recent European heat wave. There are beautiful walkways near the apartment, from cobblestone streets to a Greenway for hiking which was truly breathtaking. Immediately in front of the apartment in the lake, the kids could swim and feed the ducks and swans, while the adults looked on from the balcony. The views are so stunning. There is also a boat a few meters away to catch to the Isola and to the surrounding towns. I won't forget this moment in my life. I'll gladly return to Lella's place in Sala Comacina. Grazie per Tutto!

Like dazzling jewels, the towns of Como, Tremezzo, Menaggio, and Bellagio sparkle along the shores of Lake Como, where also glitters a hidden gem, Sala Comacina. Here in this lakeside-idyll steeped in ancient Roman history stands Casa Matra Ponto, the ideal getaway offering space and comfort for six or romantic hideaway for two. Registration number CIR: 013203-CNI-00013
Casa Matra Ponto's beautifully realised rustic charm, created by combining two houses each over 300 years old, extends over three levels and is accentuated in the homely kitchen. In the upstairs bedrooms antique furnishings and quality bedding with white starched linens provide a restful ambiance. The master bedroom includes a small adjoining sitting area, and a balcony. - Air-conditioning for your added comfort With its thick walls and double-glazing Matra Ponto may be kept cooler if windows are closed and shuttered during the day; and for your added comfort we provide a free-standing air conditioner in the kitchen and sitting room area, and box-fans to circulate air in the bedrooms. Sheltered by the only island in Lake Como 'Isola Comacina', Sala as the village is known locally - the 'salon' of the lake, enjoys a unique sun-drenched micro-climate. Here you are invited to enjoy village life with every convenience close at hand: freshly baked bread daily with groceries, artisan butcher, café/bars, local tavern, fine dining choices, water taxi and boat connections, local bus service, bank with Bancomat (ATM), post office, and village church; all within 200 metres. Free parking is available in the village precinct, or we can arrange off-street parking for you at €10 per car each day. Chat with the neighbours; enjoy an 'aperitivo'; relax with a refreshment or a coffee; swim at the beach; take a taxi-boat to explore the island or a ferryboat to the famous tourist spots of Lake Como and the scenic towns from Como to Menaggio; hike to Switzerland; or simply plan another lazy day enjoying what Sala and Matra Ponto have to offer.
In northern Italy, the Mediterranean climate of Lake Como is influenced by the surrounding mountains rising to some 1000 metres above the lake surface, often with humid summer days, but with gorgeous balmy evenings (air-con being rare in Italy), with the result that the shoulder seasons of spring & autumn may be more agreeable for travelling.
  • Where do I start. From our first communication to when we hopped off the bus Wendy was very helpful and informative. Once settled in Wendy took us around to meet the locals and showed us the restaurants. We met many locals and by the time we left, we felt like one. Would never stay in one of the hi end villages. In Sala you really get the feel of Italian life. Would highly recommended and hope to return again one day. Enjoyed Harold’s company also. Accommodation had everything we needed. Even managed to cook a home made meal one night. Close to bus stop and ferry for day trips.

  • Wendy was welcoming from the first email exchange and hugely helpful throughout our stay. From offering optimal routes to get to Sala Comacina, meeting us at the bus stop, showing us around the village to introducing us to local personalities Wendy was a star. The village itself is small but has everything you need and is located near to some fantastic spots such as Lenno, Menaggio and Bellagio. The property is well appointed, cosy and has bags full of character. All in all a fantastic experience.

  • Wendy is certainly a super host. She met us off the Bus, showed us around, provided great recommendations and answered all our questions. Nest host we have ever had, Wendy went over and above to make our stay great. This area is beautiful and a peaceful retreat from the hectic tourist areas. But everything you need is right there. Amazing restaurants and bars within metres of the Villa. Water taxi and bus services and the lovely Greenway walk. A hidden gem!

  • Must stay. Amazing location. Great set up great amenities great everything. Wendy is an amazing host.

  • Wendy met us at the Air B & B and not only acquainted us with her place, but she gave us a tour of Sala Comacina and introduced us to several of her friends. We loved the sitting room and the completeness of the kitchen. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The mattresses and linens were wonderful. We were steps from the lake and restaurants. Local transportation is nearby as well. We stayed in five air b&b’s on our European trip and had Super Hosts each time; Wendy was the best of all the Super Hosts, and that’s saying a lot!

  • We had the most fantastic stay in Sala Comacina. Wendy is a great host, she was very welcoming, gave tips of the best things to do, she even greeted us from the bus on arrival and saw us off on the bus as well. The apartment is beautiful, very cute and clean. The location is great, only a 30 second walk from the lake through the gorgeous village lanes. There is so much to do around Lake Como, although the boats only come to Sala Comacina 3 times a day, and the last boat back is 5.30pm. However the boats to Isola Comacina are more frequent and you can get back from there easily at any time. You can also get the boat to one of the bigger villages on this side of the island and a bus back. Overall, our stay was amazing and we would 100% recommend Wendy’s place.

  • Darling authentic Italian village apartment. The location is great for lake access and the Green Walk, a lovely path that connects many towns on Lake Como. Wendy was a perfect hostess, friendly and helpful. The bus line is quite close, which you will need if you don’t want to walk to the grocery store in the next town 2 k away. There are a couple of decent restaurants in town, as well as a bakery and a few bars. If you like a tiny village experience you will love this spot.

  • Wendy’s place is a delight. Wendy welcomed our family of 5 into her house and we were immediately charmed. It had everything we needed.. The kids had plenty of room, the kitchen and living areas were perfect, and we were close to the “beach” for a quick swim. Highly recommended.
