Come enjoy a peaceful stay at our 2 bedroom, log inspired guest house. Full bed downstairs and queen in loft bedroom. Spend a relaxing evening around the firepit or in the shade in a hammock, listening to nature as it reveals itself.
We built this custom house from timber off our wooded property. The logs you will find inside were hand peeled and milled on site. One bedroom is downstairs the other is a loft bedroom. You can enjoy several big game hunting trophies on display as well.
This is beautiful Ozark country, quiet and peaceful. Spring and Summer nights are filled with nature's symphony. Close to Montauk and The Current River.
  • We loved our stay at Karen and Bob’s cabin while in town for a family wedding. This place is the very definition of peace and quiet, we only wish the early March weather had been a bit warmer to take advantage of all the thoughtful outdoor touches. It was a perfect getaway for our small family and I will 100% seek it out again the next time we need to visit “down home”.

  • Very prompt, courteous, and clean. This Little Cabin in the Woods has charm for days, was a great place to stay, very quiet, peaceful property in the country close to a lot of great flyfishing opportunities!!

  • It is hard to find a place this nice and comfortable. Spent two wonderful nights. Comfortable beds. Serene and peaceful. Wish we could find more places like this. Thank you Karen and Bob for your wonderful hospitality and sharing this wonderful place.

  • The cabin was so cozy and immaculately clean! We enjoyed the indoor gas fireplace and an outdoor fire pit. The views are stunning and the hosts are so sweet and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

Nestled in the heart of the Ozark Hills, our stone cabin offers guests a secluded place to unwind and enjoy nature. Our cabin has running hot water, but no electricity or flushing toilet. The outhouse is a short walk away and propane lamps provide lighting. The cabin is accessible by a private, half mile gravel trail. It is best if guests have a four-wheel drive or high profile two-wheel drive vehicle.
Cooking utensils, bedding, towels and toilet paper are all supplied. Firewood for the fireplace and heating stove will be provided or you may gather your own from the surrounding forest. If you are a floating enthusiast the cabin is a 45-minute drive to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. If trout fishing is more your style, Montauk State Park is also a 45-minute drive. The City of Houston, Missouri is 10 minutes away. The town has many dining and shopping opportunities. We are a 23 minute drive from Piney River Brewing Company.
Our cabin offers a secluded get away in the middle of 160 acres of woodlands. Missouri wildlife will be your closest neighbor. You may encounter turkey, white tailed deer, the occasional bobcat or fox, and numerous species of song birds. We are a 23 minute drive from Piney River Brewing Company and 11 minutes from the Phoenix Theater & Drive-In. One of the few remaining drive-in movie theaters in Missouri.
  • I would highly recommend Renee’s place! The cabin was in a secluded spot on a beautiful peace of land, my pup loved running around the property. It was so cozy in the cabin with the fire place! I would return for a trip!

    Madeline2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Renee is an amazing host and we loved all the small touches that truly make her Airbnb stand out. We would recommend her Airbnb to anyone who is wanting to celebrate a special occasion or even just want a quick weekend get away. We had the privilege of staying at Renee’s Airbnb during Valentine’s Day and we wouldn’t change a thing it was perfect all around. Renee was so quick to reply extremely helpful and she was even able to allow us to check in later then we expected! If anyone is considering staying stop considering it and do it you will not regret it!

  • My wife, our dog and I had an amazing weekend in the stone cabin and hiking on the land. The stone cabin is the perfect place to get away from everything and enjoy the outdoors.

  • This place is a hidden gem. A great place to get away from it all and simply be.

    Papaa2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool, cozy, secluded spot. Hosts provided plenty of firewood and took the time to show us how to work the propane lights and wood stove. Great place to disconnect (although we did get cell service by pond and further up the hill). Can't recommend this place enough.

    Ryan2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Truly an incredible experience, such an awesome place! The hospitality is top notch and there were so many considerate touches, I wouldn’t know where to begin. They were helpful in every way as we were getting settled. We will definitely be back!

    Zach2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • It is rustic but not. Yes there is an outhouse but it is probably the nicest I have seen. The lanterns and fireplace make for a pleasant setting. The outdoor spaces are comfortable abd well though out. Cooking is easy on the outdoor grill or the indoor cooktop. Local grocery stores are easy to get to and only 10 mins away. The hiking is lovely and the grounds are managed well. You truly can hike for miles on the logging trails. The hosts provide plenty of firewood for warmth. The shower is tricky to manage and so we switched and stuck with baths. Otherwise there isn't anything I can be critical about. Great privacy, well appointed, comfortable bed, clean, and peaceful. A great way to escape the noisy world...

    Dan2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • There aren't enough 'stars' to properly rate this experience. Nature lovers, adventure enthusiasts, rustic seekers, those accompanied by canines, and/or anyone looking to get off the beaten path to unplug with a unique stay...you've found your place.

Kitchen: We have provided the essentials including 8 piece serving set of dishes and glasses, silverware, electric range, microwave and dishwasher. There is also a waffle maker, toaster, Keurig Coffee Maker, food processor, and electric hand mixer. Several stainless steel pots along with non-stick skillet, baking dishes include loaf pans, 9x13 pans, pie pans and cookie sheet. Large refrigerator is also provided. If there is something specific that you require, let us know and we will try to accommodate. Master Bedroom sports a KING bed with 4 pillows and chest. Private access to master bath which has 2 sinks, shower and toilet, chair and walk in closet. Expect wrinkles with all of our bedding as we all have them. Guest Bedroom #1 has a antique full size bed with 2 pillows and chest. Bathroom is in the hall. Expect wrinkles with all of our bedding as we all have them. Porches: Of course. The front porch has a seating for 2. The back porch has a few chairs and bench along with the country bell. You control the exterior lighting with options for 4 corner spot lighting to avoid the bugs on the porch or use the porch lights too. The 40 acres. We love the idea of being on a 40 acre plot with trails extending more than 1/2 mile and access to gravel bar fishing at the Gasconade River. You can find various wildlife and plants that can make you smile. We have marked the 3 trails and provided the maps for each. "Deer Alley Trail" provides a short walk that is relatively flat and gives you a view to the open field where deer feed frequently. "Big Spring Trail" is for the hiker and includes a nice climb back up the hill after arriving at the Big Spring. The Big Spring is primarily a wet weather spring but does have a small trickle in the summer. If you complete the Big Spring Trail, your almost to the "Gasconade River Trail". At the river bank is a steep incline providing you access to fish the Gasonage River from the gravel bar. You can also go wading. There is no boat access from our property but if you are interested, there is public access just a few miles away. NOTE: The house is newly built in 2019. As a result, the exterior yard is muddy at times. The grass is growing but not thickened up yet. The entry to the home is dry, graveled, raised up and without mud.
At Whispering Pines, there is that feeling of being in the country. Those coming from the city will enjoy the peace and serenity this property offers. There are no street lights so the night sky will be full of stars.
  • We truly enjoyed our stay- if you are ever with an hour or so of the area I highly recommend booking this house! It is very nice and comfortable- has everything you need and Andy is a great host- meeting at the gate and being very thorough with all the details. Thank you! The peepers sounded so nice!

    Stacey2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much. The home is lovely, clean and everything is new. We really liked the layout of the home. The location is beautiful also. We found ourselves surrounded by trees, woke up to seeing a deer outside. Our host was amazing and patiently waited for us to check in--we were about 2 hours later than we anticipated. He had breakfast available in a well-stocked pantry along with a waffle maker and coffee. The place has great cell coverage if you have Verizon. We would definitely stay there again!

    Esther2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Andy is a great host! Sparkling clean home with peace and quiet. The photos are great and accurate. However, it’s even better then it looks, it is the perfect stay.

    Sharon2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place!!

    Jacob2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Andy's space was exactly what we needed. Woods to explore, no cell service, and beautiful stars. Wonderful hospitality. This is the place for you if you want to catch up on reading or stargazing.

    Sean2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. The house was very new and clean. Andy was very easy to communicate with and he met us for an easy check in. It was much nicer than expected, and we’d highly recommend it.

    Marina2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Andy's cabin is super nice. More modern than our house, it had a very nice living area, kitchen and master bedroom. The second bed looked like a full size? The king in the master bed was comfortable and spacious. Nothing but good things to say about the dwelling. Andy was very hospitable and gracious considering our plans were in flux. We never ended up meeting him, but they did allow us to let ourselves in the house after hours. There were clear instructions in the kitchen for how to use the appliances and expectations for check out. This cabin is out in the woods. Like a few miles down a dirt/gravel road. That didn't bother us as we also live down a gravel, but good to know ahead of time. Google maps was a little off on the location down the road, but Andy left the lights on for us and it was very apparent when we arrived. We have US Cellular and phone service was OK, but data was very spotty. A friend with At&t had almost nothing the entire time. Load the map before you leave town. We had good service in Mansfield if needed. The cabin does NOT have wifi. The posting does say that in the amenities, but I neglected to see that until we were there - clearly my problem. We were able to get a few over-air channels on the TV. There were not a lot of food options around, but we ate at Vaccaros pizza in Mansfield and it was quite good. If you want beer, stop in Lebanon or along the way. We didn't see any at the grocery store in town. We had a nice time at Andy's cabin and if we ever need to go back to Baker's Creek again, we will probably stay here again.

  • O’Brien’s Log Cabin was a great get-away. Mike went above and beyond with his hospitality and local tips for hikes (and breweries). We had a great weekend and hope to be back next year!

  • Well worth the trip. If your looking for off the beaten path quite peaceful location this is the place.

  • Although this is a hidden gem that I would love to keep to myself, I can’t help but tell everyone about this quaint little cabin in a perfect area! Being from the city, we don’t get to experience the greatness of true nature very often. But when we set up a fire at night, all we heard was the crackling of the fire, and the occasional moo of the cow in the field below. It was truly a fantastically cozy cabin and Michael and Arlene were fantastic hosts. We already cannot wait to go back for another weekend!

    Courtney2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great weekend getaway. The cabin was perfect, and we had everything we needed! Excellent hospitality.

You’ll love my place because of the quiet area and the coziness. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids). Current River & Jack's Fork are 2 famous rivers close by for kayaking & canoeing. Fishing on Sims Lake, horse back riding if you bring the horse of course . Also a place to put your horse ! ATV trail. If you like to hike, trails are close .You will love the large fire pit just outside the cabin with wood to fuel a fire! West Plains Willow Springs close .
There is a wood stove in the cabin for winter heating, wood supplied. If your unfamiliar with how a wood stove works, we can help you out. There is also a wall mounted heater in the master bedroom if a wood stove fire is too much heat in the spring & fall(URL HIDDEN)Room enough for parking your horse trailer and a nice pen for the horse to stay . Must bring your own hay . Major arena 4 miles from cabin on highway 60 .
If you like the peace & quiet of staying in the country and viewing the bright stars without the city lights, you'll love staying here. So relaxing to hear & see nature and the absence of the city noise. Occasionally we'll have deer roaming in the yard. If you have a horse ,there is a pen for it also.
  • Very nice little place to have some peace and quiet

  • Paula’s place was sweet and charming and so lovingly cared for. My son and two dogs and I had a great time building fires, playing badminton, taking walks and making ourselves at home. It was so nice to let the dogs run- even my old dog was lit up! And speaking of lit up— those stars.... ✨ It was magical.

    Elizabeth2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at the cabin!! Paula already had the fire going when we got there, and it stayed warm even in the cold temperatures!! The place is very cozy and has just about all you need. We would recommend to anyone looking for a little getaway in MO

    Geneva2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, cozy cabin in the Ozarks within an hour of all the wonderful nature trails and adventures.

    Katherine2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our little getaway trip to Paula's farm! She has a little slice of heaven on earth. We needed an escape from the holidays and ended up randomly driving six hours south to Paula's place. We had never been to Southern Missouri, and it just blew us away. We had surprisingly beautiful weather for December, and went on many of the day trips to the springs and mills that Paula recommended. Alley mill springs was spectacular-- I had no idea Missouri could be so beautiful in the wintertime! Paula was so kind and sweet, we got to pet and feed the donkeys and her sweet kitty max hung out with us all night by the fire. Our dog had the time of his life, and we've decided we need to find a place like Paula's for ourselves one day! We will be back!!!

    Leslie2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • It is always a wonderful experience to stay at Paula's. Serene environment and comfortable surroundings.

  • We had a great anniversary thanks to our stay here! Georgia even welcomed us with a big heart shaped cookie for Valentine's Day. We were also pleasantly surprised by how close the cabin was to the stream! The trails surrounding the area were wonderful and we truly got the sense that few had ventured them. The cabin was very quaint and clean and we really enjoyed cooking on the woodfire stove. This is the perfect place to disconnect and getaway for a weekend!

    Alec2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect incredible, friendly hospitality from Georgia! Everything you could ever need is already at the cabin, and its perfectly set up for any time of the year! I stayed here in the middle of winter and the wood burning stove kept us toasty! If you are looking for somewhere secluded and rustic to detox from technology, look no further!

  • Georgia's cabin was everything promised and more. What a wonderful getaway, so remote and in such a picture perfect setting. We loved every minute and can't wait to come back again. Thank you for sharing this beautiful little spot.

    Jessica2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Words can’t describe what our experience was like at the this little hidden gem! The cabin experience far exceeded our expectations. Some of our memorable experiences: meals cooked over a wood stove, reading and playing games by serene kerosene lamplight, waking up to a babbling creek, roasting marshmallows over the fire, coffee on the porch swing in the morning, steaks cooked on the grill, little critter visitors (possum, armadillo), finding beautiful rocks in the creek, hiking with amazing views, snuggling in flannel sheets and sleeping in, residing within quaint rustic decor, experiencing primitive living, and the list could go on. Our hosts had special touches throughout the cabin that added to their superb hospitality. If you want to get away from the hectic day in and day out and trade it for a soul-rejuvenating, minimalist experience....this is your place! Hands down...we will be back!!

    Nicole2019-11-10T00:00:00Z

  • Georgia's and Monty's place is an absolute gem! If you are looking for nothing but peace, serenity, time away from the hustle and bustle of daily life this is for you! I cannot say enough about the hosts and this cabin. Georgia is a doll! I have stayed at many Airbnb's and this has been my to date. Go simple. Campfire food, drinks, clothing to fit the season, hiking boots AND a 4x4!!! You will love the animal sounds at night, coffee over the fire...cant recommend this enough❤❤❤

Nothing fancy, but quiet, country, fresh air, and lots of land to roam. Go fishing in the pond, close to Montauk State Park - known for its trout fishing, and many other of the gems in the Ozarks. Shopping, restaurants, and more close in Houston MO.
You are welcome to escape from the city or anyplace for that matter and come enjoy the fresh air of the country. 700+ acres to roam, old barns, old milk barn, grain bins, and a long cabin. Enjoy this rural location and lower the blood pressure. 8 miles out of Houston Missouri (with adequate shopping), 1.5 hours east of Springfield, 1 hour north of West Plains, 1 hour south of Rolla, and 20 miles from Montauk State Park. Very close to the Current and Big Piney Rivers for float trips, etc. See the stars and moon of a night and hear the coyotes sing (sometimes lol). I live here too, so you would be sharing my home in one of two extra bedrooms. Most of the time though, I live at another residence out of town. There is one full sized bed and one queen size bed. Two couches (not sleeper sofa) are available too. Washer and dryer available.
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very quiet, beautiful area, off the beaten path but directions were easy.

  • Nice and quiet, very hospitable host with Roger. Highly recommend his place if your looking for peace and quiet place to relax and recharge while exploring the beautiful Ozarks.

    Dennis2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • The farm is amazing! We enjoyed exploring outdoors so much, it was hard to stay inside! Cell service is pretty bad but if you connect to the WiFi and have WiFi calling connected, you can still use your phone. Roger was wonderful. He wasn’t there during our stay so we had the entire place to ourselves. But he kept in communication with us to make sure we had everything we needed even though he was working. We had a lot of fun exploring the grounds and caught some fish in the pond. It’s quite relaxing sitting on the front porch listening to the birds and watching the grass waving in the fields. It’s a great place to stay if you need a central location while floating any of the surrounding rivers. If you’re into staying in a farm house in the middle of nowhere and enjoy the peace of the country, this is the place for you.

  • If you're looking for an amazing amazing secluded getaway in the middle of the State Forest surrounded by beautiful trees and to stay parks within 5 MI? Then this is the place for you. The cabin is very quaint and cozy, the beat part for me was the night sky and all the firewood I needed.

    Jacob2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cabin in the woods! We had an authentic camping experience with wonderful hosts who gave us local tips, hot coffee each morning, and let us play with their dog, and feed their pig and chickens. Everything was clean and cozy, and despite having no running water, our hosts provided us with several gallons of drinking water to use however we wanted. We loved our stay and would even come back again in the summer months to experience the forest in all of its greenery. Five star experience! Thank you so much!! 😊

    Lyudmila2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely cabin is the perfect base camp to enjoy the Ozark riverways. It's close to many beautiful sites and has a ton of great touches. Make sure you pay close attention to the host's detailed directions to find your way-the name matches the location. The space itself is stocked with all the necessities (kitchen utensils, basics for cooking, etc.) and is very comfortable. A wonderful place to unplug. The farm critters are very nice, too!

    James2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin is amazing, getting there is already an experience, drving through the woods is great. Marie and her husband are great host, coffee every morning, can't beat that in the middle of the woods. If you are down to experience the backwoods life with some amenities this is the place for you. We love our stay here.

    Aaron2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was the perfect amount of luxury while still having primitive features. Don’t be discouraged by the composting toilet, it is much more similar to a conventional toilet than a latrine. The mountains are a beautiful site during the day, and if you’re lucky a full moon will light up the land at night! Everything we needed was provided and the hosts were great.

    Jennie2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great central location for everything we wanted to do. https://bigfamilysimplelife.com/2019/11/03/anniversary-in-the-ozarks/

  • If you're looking for a remote experience: this is it! It truly is awayz back. There may be difficulty in ice/rain getting up the driveway if you don't have 4 wheel drive. I loved every second of my stay and the hosts really do let you do your own thing. Theres a BIG puppy on the property who is a sweet boy and is learning manners. He is very well behaved and just wants some pets and to sniff ya. Don't hesitate on this one!

Enjoy your own personal park space with Current riverfront access. This cozy three bedroom, one bath cabin is uniquely situated on 3 acres within National Park land boundaries just outside one of Missouri's premiere trout parks. Montauk State Park is just minutes away. Even if you don't fish, you can take a float trip, swim in the clear cool waters of the Current river, relax by the riverside fire pit or just sit on the deck and take in the natural beauty of the Ozarks National Scenic Riverways.
We are very blessed to have this property. It -with very few others- literally sits within the boundaries of the Ozark Scenic Riverways National Park. When you think about it, it is the only riverway designated as a National Park. We welcome all guests to spend some time in the heart of the Ozarks at the Blue Ribbon Trout Cabin. The cabin can accommodate up to six people. Yes, it will be cozy with that number, but doable. There is a master bedroom with a queen-size bed; two smaller bedrooms with one twin-bed in each room and; a sofa with a hide-a-bed. -The only bathroom is located in the master bedroom- The cabin has a cozy living room/dining room and a full kitchen. There is a T.V. with Satellite and a DVD player. Not sure why anyone would want to watch tv, but the boss made me put it there! The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals: Fridge, stove, sink, coffeemaker, microwave, toaster, dishes and just about every utensil one needs to prepare and eat meals. There is a Weber charcoal grill located outside -no need to rush with gas- along with a table, chairs and additional deck chairs to enjoy your time outside. Down by the river (less than 100 yards) is a fire ring. You are more than welcome to build a fire and enjoy the tranquility of the river. All we ask is that you please buy/use local firewood and make every attempt to burn it. If there is deadfall -lying on the ground of the property- you are more than welcome to burn it. As mentioned at the beginning, this is a very special and unique property. You will be staying in National Park Property. Please treat it, as with all forest/park property with the utmost respect, and it will reward you forever! We look forward to hosting you! Matt
It's the Ozark National Scenic RIverways! Enough said!

There's a nice kitchen with mini fridge, countertop electric stove with two burners, coffee maker, pots and pans, and sink. The water gets nice and hot. The little front room (which is also the bedroom) has an electric "fireplace" that gets nice and hot, and has pretty fireplace lights. WiFi works well. Easy parking. Make sure you don't drive too far down the road! This place is right off the highway, so you can't miss it!

Cozy cabin in the woods - this humble abode is a quiet space of seclusion and nature. Nestled on the crest of the ridge line, the view to the south and east captures ideal breakfast sunrises, a porch swing perfect for cooling off, a small but toasty wood stove heats the space. Near to Canoeing and Fishing - Jacks fork, North fork, Piney, Current, Montauk State Park Trout Fishery.
    Seasonal hunting opportunities available
Our neighbors are our friends and family. We hope you will find them welcoming, and neighborly. However, please remember that they are not your hosts.
  • Bronson is very easy to work with. I have stayed at the cabin several times before. I had an extended stay reservation for 48 nights for work but I had to cut it short because of work related extenuating circumstances. Bronson was very accommodating to my situation and we were able to work things out. I highly recommend staying at his beautiful cabin and being hosted by a great individual.

This cozy little cabin is located just .3 miles from Montauk State Park, and the river is just a quick walk down the hill. The beautiful Current River has some of the best trout and fly fishing in the Midwest. Montauk is known for the fantastic fishing, canoeing, hiking, biking, swimming, and caving. We now offer shuttle service to the river and from the airport. The deck and hot tub offer an amazing view of the stars. We also have coffee and cookies.
A larger house next door is available for rental as well. The cabin has access to the large private deck and venue space and hot tub attached to the house that can be used as an activity venue for friends and family. There is a back bathroom also available off the deck. There is some problem with phone access with phones other than AT and T because of the remote location. Wildlife is plentiful, including some recent bear sightings.
We are very close to the Montauk State Park Lodge which has excellent food. Happy Pappy's is also very close on the way to the park. It has sandwiches and homemade pies. Down the hill a couple miles is Bo's Hollow. They have excellent barbecue and old Model T cars you can ride in. In the town of Licking about 13 miles away is the well known Olig's Barbecue.
  • Cabins were exactly what we needed. Location was great for utilizing the trout park.

  • Perfect little cabin to stay at while fishing in the area!

    Daniel2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time fishing/exploring the area and was very happy with our temporary home. The cabin was small, but very clean/comfortable and almost too well decorated for a couple of old fisherman! The location to Montauk State park made driving back for lunch break very convenient. The area was very quite and I don’t remember ever seeing so many stars at night.

    Dale2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Small but comfortable.

    John2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and had a wonderful stay (Oct19). There was a fire pit right outside the front porch cabin with plenty of wood (provided). There is a stone pathway between the cabin and the big house which opens up into a large, open backyard for both guests to utilize. Great for kids playing, yard games (also provided), barbecue, and/or a bon fire. Montauk State Park is right down to road, a perfect location for this cabin! During the rain we cozied inside the cabin either playing game, reading, and watched movies (all also provided). Thank you for the extra thoughtful touches, especially the coffee!

    Alisa2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • A really cozy cabin minutes from the State Park equipped with everything - towels, dishes, grill, coffee, and more. I had access to the hot tub at the main house which was amazing after hiking and fishing at the park all day. I considered tent camping but am glad I chose to stay here instead.

    Andrew2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • This little place is absolutely adorable. Super clean. It is pretty much a just a nicer sleeping cabin (nicer than montaulk’s) but the use of the space is perfect for a weekend away fishing. The tiny kitchen was a bonus for cooking our fresh caught trout for dinner. You really don’t have use of the deck next door if someone is staying there but really don’t need it. You have everything you need here. Nice fire pit, Weber grill, chairs. We even played cornhole! We brought 4 people but Sharon was nervous about it but It worked perfectly for us. Typically I would say 3 max. But my husband and I slept on the bottom double, daughter up top and my son in tight fitting loft. Great spot right outside montalk. Highly recommend if you plan to spend most time outdoors. And who wouldn’t around here!

  • Great little place! The heat was already on and there were delicious homemade pastries waiting on the table for us. Was hoping to have enough time to walk to the pond but unfortunately did not, but we were able to half our morning coffee as we watched the sunrise from the back porch, which was really nice. Very private, very cozy. No WiFi and no cell service unless you walk up the hill on the road.

  • Coon Creek Cabin exceeded my expectations for a peaceful, natural retreat. We had all the amenities we could need, including a break from the busy outside world, and plenty of privacy to read on the porch in quiet solitude. The bed is exceptionally comfortable for a night of deep sleep with the soothing sounds of night crickets chirping away. Well worth a visit!

    Rachel2019-09-02T00:00:00Z

  • TL:DR I would go out of my way to stay at this cozy place over fancier Airbnbs. I loved this place! Tried it out for almost a week on a Christmas road trip. I love the layout of the "guest suite" (it's almost entirely cut off from the rest of the house for great privacy) and feels like a cabin. There's a little kitchen with a useful kitchen island, couch, extra single bed, desk area, queen bed, and bathroom. All we needed was within reach and well organized. The hot water was fabulous. Laura, the host, was AMAZING! I miscalculated the days we needed to spend there and she let us stay extra time to get things packed, etc. She was never upset and would've extended our stay if she didn't have another Airbnber coming in that evening. Laura was incredibly kind about it all, and we were so appreciative.

Nearby are lots of things to do and see. The National Scenic Rivers are a half hour away. There are several good coffee places in West Plains, a 20 min. drive. Vandal Winery is a 20 min. drive away. We are located in the middle of four different river systems, with opportunities for swimming, floating and historical tours.
  • Great place. Very secluded on a beautiful piece of land

  • This place was exactly what we needed. Michael set us up nicely. We enjoyed hikes through the woods and discovering all the different species of plants and fungus. Although we didn't have time to enjoy the amenities that were offered we will definitely be back again.

  • We had a great experience at the cabin. The retreat area is quiet and secluded. Perfect to get away from our busy city life. There's 2 trails in the retreat area, and there's plenty more within a 25 mi radius. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Room has heating, fans and a window AC for when it gets hot. The bathroom was clean, I would suggest bringing toiletries of you're picky. Michael was great to communicate with, and he even cooked breakfast for us the last day. Will definitely visit again.

  • This was a perfect place to stay with our dogs for the weekend. We enjoyed walking around the lake and through the woods. It was nice that there was wifi available if needed in the common areas. Very peaceful place to be, and we hope to be back in the summer.

  • Comfortable, surprisingly spacious cabin in the wilderness of southern Missouri. The AC and overhead fans were welcome in the heat of summer. Ample space and even dog friendly! Great value for the money, quiet grounds, and a great host who even had a dinner catered and brought to our cabin. Overall, a surprising little diamond in the rough!

  • Cozy home located very close to Montauk park. Large living room and sunroom make great spots to gather the family together and visit. Star watching is another great activity as the location of this home allows a wonderful view of the sky.

    Wendy2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to relax, and is very close to the Montauk trout park. Sharon has put a lot of thought into the setup, and it really shows. The coffee, cookies, and hot tub are a great addition. The decor of the house is well done and adds to the ambience of a getaway cabin. We had a great time and will be returning. There is plenty of space and amenities, but it still maintains a rustic feel.

  • We rented the entire property for a float trip and it was wonderful! So many extras Sharon provided like yard games, telescopes, picnic table, fire pits, hot tub etc. Great private location right off the road near the lodge & a little catch all store. The main house is big & has everything you need! The cabin was adorable & perfect for the kids!

  • We had a great stay. The home is huge, plenty of room for a large family. It was nice seeing all of the animals that were out & about, the dogs were very friendly & wanted to play. The setting was very nice & peaceful for our weekend getaway.

    Yvonne2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly stunning home. There are so many great spaces to relax and socialize. 2 beautiful kitchens, a giant front porch with hammocks, a grill space in the back, this place has it all. Abbey was a delightful host, and we loved socializing with her. The animals on the farm, including the 2 large dogs, were well cared for, well behaved and so enjoyable. We purchased meat from the farm to grill and it was so delicious that we all stocked up with fresh eggs and meat to take home. I can’t say enough about this space and host- we can’t wait to return and would recommend to anyone!

  • Mary Ann and Jim were absolutely wonderful hosts. Any concern or question I had was addressed immediately. They are just really wonderful people and you won’t regret any stay you book at their Airbnb.

    Jennie2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect little spot! Mary Ann has thought of everything! We loved swinging in the hammock and being out in the country! This is a great getaway!! We couldn’t be happier with our stay here!

  • Perfect for 2, cozy and clean. The Williams were great hosts.

  • The most relaxing place ever!! Lay out on the hammock and gaze at the stars at night, listen to the night sounds, or just enjoy the peace and quiet of a country setting. Adorable place to stay! Mary Ann has done so much to make it comfortable and welcoming.

    Lana2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous time in the country with all the comforts you would ever need or want. The attention to detail was awesome and the glamping experience provided a very unique alternative to everyday lodging! The hosts were very welcoming and provided great information about the area.

  • If you are looking for a charming place to stay with breathtaking views of Missouri, this is your spot. My daughter and I spent one night on our travels from Texas to Indiana and we only wished we could stay longer and take a longer hike thru Missouri country. Truly a hidden gem. The trailer is very private with all the things you need for a perfect ‘camp’ spot - outdoor patio, fire pit, hammock- tastefully decorated. Mary Ann greeted us and gave us the background of the surrounding area and was quick to respond to my last min request. Do yourself a favor and decompress from your travels in this beautiful, quaint location. We look forward to a return.

    Lindsey2019-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Ann's glamper was exactly what we needed and we hope to go back for sure. We only stayed one night while on a cross country journey and we definitely wished we had a day or two in Salem once we got there! Mary Ann and Jim were super friendly and we loved petting their puppies, especially being away from our own furbabies for a week! I really appreciated the outdoor space Mary Ann setup and the stylish touches inside the glamper. We enjoyed dinner at a nearby Mexican restaurant, watched a movie from the DVD collection provided, and had a restful nights sleep (including one adult on the couch who said it was comfortable) before our journey. Thanks again Mary Ann!!

  • My family and I had a blast. After arriving at the beautiful cabin we took a short walk down to the river which is in the back yard and is awesome. We couldn't have asked for a better place and Justin is the best. From what we could tell its also the best location in this area.

    Donna2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Rented this for a 2 day winter float on the Current, starting at Akers Ferry and going to Round Spring. It was about a 12 mile float 5 to get from Akers to the cabin, and took us 5 hours. There is a great gravel bar there to take out on. Also a good fishing hole were I caught a nice sized rainbow. The cabin is really something else. It’s set up perfectly for a weekend in the woods. Lots a space, a great deck and pavilion, and gas fireplace. Justin was a great host and quickly responded to all our questions. If you book it, definitely try to get there before dark as it’s way back in the woods - but once you get there once you’ll remember all the turns. We decided to cut our float trip short a day due to weather, so we didn’t make it to Round Spring, but the map said it was only 6 miles away. We were able to get the canoes to our trucks no problem. We plan on coming back - it was just the guys this time but the set up would be perfect for kids. Thanks Justin!

    Chris2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin with walking distance to the river. Justin is a great host.

    Marzena2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place!! We enjoyed our stay and had no complaints! Justin was quick to call me back when I had a question. We will definitely be coming back next year!!

    Jenna2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to explore the current river. Its right in the backyard so easy access but surrounded by trees so river revelers cant interrupt your evening. It has a huge mowed and maintained yard. The inside is well appointed, big screens, high end kitchen appliances and a a really good AC unit. The house is great for a couples retreat or family vacation, just make sure you bring a car with some ground clearance.

    Todd2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfect for our two families who met up down there for our float trip. It was so nice to "camp" without having to sleep in tents. The bedrooms were both really nice, the living room had a nice 55" tv, although we never used it, and the kitchen was super nice with lots of room. All the appliances in the house were top-notch and much better than I expected. The three acre lot was great for the kids to play catch, frisbee, and whatever else they wanted to do. However, the lot is surrounded by nothing so it's really like you have hundreds of acres. The river is right down the path from the cabin and was as beautiful as we had hoped. I did have to contact Justin a few times, just to ask some questions, and he responded quickly each time. The only "disclaimer" I would leave would be about how far off the main highway the place is. Not that it was a problem for us, only that we questioned whether or not we were going the right way numerous times. Justin's directions were spot on how we were just unsure of ourselves. And we had NO cell service anywhere along the 7 mile drive off the road so we couldn't ask to double-check. It was really nice also to have WiFi at the cabin so we could Facetime with our baby back home! We would definitely be open to staying again. Brian

    Brian2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • This house is great! A spacious open living area/kitchen. The bedrooms are nice and the master bedroom has lots of space. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The deck is amazing and a wonderful place to sit if it's raining, especially in the morning. The cabin is off the beaten path, so it's very private and quiet. There is a larger covered concrete slab that was perfect for hanging out while it rained and playing games. The walk down to the river is nice and quick, and the swimming hole was fun. It was also great having a washer/dryer. We were able to dry our clothes after getting rained on at the river. I would recommend the house to friends looking for a quiet place along the river. We are already looking at going back!

    Becky2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was most enjoyable. The home and location was beautiful. Very well stocked, and clean. If you want to escape from the world for a while this is your place. Justin was very prompt to answer all our questions. Justin and his families hospitality was 100%. They were most thoughtful and customized our stay to help with our 4 month old baby and elder parents staying with us. This was a fresh breath of air, to be reminded of the good people still in the world. I would highly recommend this stay, and we will be repeat guest.

We have family in the area, so we’re here frequently...will definitely stay here in the future. Have already made recommendations to my family to call Stephanie when other family members come to visit.

  • Great location, close to store for groceries and easy to find. Clean, neat and comfortable with homey feel. Everything we needed to stay 10 days . Washer, dryer like new and nice kitchen. Fast run to Springfield or Branson, lots to see or just kick back. We will do again if we can. Nice to have this place to land after the long drive from Oregon.

The retreat is ideally situated to take in all that the Ozarks have to offer. A short drive for all your weekends adventures - float trips, hikes, horseback rides, and tours. The Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Round Spring, Echo Bluff State Park, Current River State Park, Roger Pryor Backcountry, and the town of Eminence are all less than 10 miles. Alley Spring and Mill are less than 15 miles away.
We’ve taken some time to reflect on the current situation and have decided to open the rental up again to guests. We recognize the healing nature of this property and want to offer it to those needing some nature therapy during this chaotic time. To ensure our safety & that of our guests we adhere to the CDC cleaning guidelines. As an extra precaution for our cleaning staff we will be “blocking” (leaving the rental vacant) for two days following a guest’s check out to ensure potential viruses are no longer viable before they enter the space. Spring is a beautiful time to visit. Every week there is something else in bloom... the magnolia, cherry, apple, service berry, and red buds trees as well as the crocuses, daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, spring beauties, irises and more! Surrounded on two sides by conservation land this 20 acre parcel is the perfect escape. Quiet evenings and darks skies make for some great stargazing while sitting around a campfire in the backyard amongst the fireflies. The front porch, back porch, and sunroom are all great spaces to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the cool morning air, do some birdwatching or watch a storm roll through. There is a trail that traverses the property and leads to a pond. Stretch your legs and try to glimpse a bullfrog before it jumps into the water.
    Rural living at it's finest!

    Stephen2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a must stay! I can’t wait to return! Audrey was very helpful from the beginning.. she gave us helpful tips on nearby hikes and distances from her place. The house was even cuter in person! She had great little touches everywhere that made you feel at home. It was super clean and smelled amazing! She has a great book shelf to pick from and games/dvds/Netflix! It is a great location if you are visiting either river and a bunch of parks/trails nearby! Unfortunately we had rainy weather so we weren’t able to enjoy the outdoor area but there is so much land and a great fire pit area as well! I highly recommend!

    Johanna2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great. It has a great location. The place was clean and well taken care of.

    Andy2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house surrounded by a relaxing area to hike and enjoy. Pet friendly accommodations to make both you and your furbaby feel welcome. Don't pass up this gem. Missouri's waterways and outstanding hiking make this scenic part of the state unsurpassed. After a long day in the woods hiking and floating the rivers this property allows for the ultimate relaxation to do it all over again. Yet, you can still have your fire and s'mores, then sink into an awesome bed or watch the TV on the comfort of a couch.

    Frances2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here while driving to NW Arkansas, and it was a great place to recoup and rest up. The house is spotless and spacious. The kitchen is very well-stocked, and we were able to fix a great dinner there. For future guests, the first bedroom had a very soft bed - almost TOO soft for us, but it looked like the "master." The 2nd bedroom has a firmer foam type mattress that may be preferred by some. Loved the yoga room! The wi-fi worked well too. Also, there is a really nice grocery store at the corner where you turn off the highway to get to the house. Great place to stock up. There is a store in Eminence but it was very small. The little town is really cute and fun to see. We'd love to stay again if we are ever back in the area! The hosts are great and responded right away to questions about poison ivy in the area.

  • This is a great spot. It’s between two towns, only a quarter mile away from a canoe/raft rental, and the best part was the shuttle we got picked us up from our house and took us back once our float trip was over. Highly recommend, especially for the cost!

The cabin is spacious with three bedrooms and a pullout couch. Everything worked great! We will definitely rebook the next time we are in the area! Very well kept Airbnb!

Heron Cabin is a cozy getaway surrounded by woods and a beautiful lake. Lots of privacy and peaceful connection with nature. Just outside the door is a trail which circles the lake, offering views and mini-environments like moss-covered rocks and a pine forest. The cabin is located in a yoga retreat center, and guests may arrange offerings like massage, yoga/meditation classes, vegetarian meals, and the outdoor patio with wifi. Nearby are the National Scenic Rivers, wineries and much more.
If you want a relaxing getaway this is the place. In the cabin you are surrounded by the healing beauty of nature. The sounds you hear will be birdsongs, bullfrogs and the wind over leaves and water.
  • The view is amazing and is definitely worth the trip up there.

  • Cute little cabins off the beaten path. A quiet country retreat with nice hosts. We loved having the windows open to hear the crickets and the nice wooded walking trail. Thoughtful touches like a vase of flowers and bug spray for our walk.

  • Marc’s place is amazing. We are used to vacations that are quite fast paced and this place offered us a peaceful relaxing retreat. Marc responded to our inquiries diligently that helped us plan this wonderful getaway. We went as a big group and adults and kids both enjoyed the place. The house was amazing and super clean. The lake is breathtaking!!! We went canoeing and kayaking which it was available at the property. 2 days is too short to explore the place. We wish we could have stayed longer. Hopefully we can go back and visit the this wonderful retreat again. We found “OUR NEW HAPPY PLACE “. We highly recommend this place to our friends and others. Thank you Marc for sharing your home with us.

  • The place was really amazing and we had an awesome time with our family. We all can't wait to come back! The swimming and fishing was spectacular! We made some wonderful memories with our families and Marc's place was a great place to bring everyone together. Marc was an awesome host! He kept in touch and was responsive if we had any questions. The house was clean and ready to go when we checked in. Everything we needed (and more) was available. The place was so awesome once we got checked in we never left!

    Justin2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely recommend, already looking for a reason to go back. The lodge is an experience all on its own, not to mention the endless opportunities in the land itself.

  • One of the coolest places I’ve ever stayed!

    Sam2019-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the most amazing house and huge chunk of land I have ever been to. You honestly need to see it to believe it. The house is incredible. It is spacious and charming. Everything is fully stocked. The land is even better. The private lake is right out the back food, and the doe will walk right up to you. The bucks are the biggest and most beautiful I have ever seen. I booked this place for a family trip, and now I need to plan another trip to hunt. Marc was a very gracious host and if you have the opportunity to stay here, you’ll get to see this little piece of heaven.

  • What you can expect is blissful silence and wonderful peace. I actually fell in love with the fact that there was no television at this place it gave my wife and I time to reconnect with one another and visit like we have not as of late. The cabin was very clean and smelled beautifully of cedar wood. I soon learned that there are several cabins that Michael leases out. One of which we were offered a tour of, it is sat right on the private lake at Michaels property and has a huge deck on the back side that overlooks the lake. To sit out there and have coffee in the morning while listening to the birds, enjoying the serenity of the surroundings, and casting your view across the beautiful Lake would be an absolutely wonderful experience. I look forward to returning and staying in Lake cabin.

  • Had a great relaxing experience. The cabin was clean and cozy and the nature was just what I needed. Had a great massage, yoga, meditation and delicious vegetarian pizza. Will definitely return and highly recommend to anyone wanting to get away from it all, replenish the spirit and nourish the soul. Michael was a great host and there for you if you needed anything but not intrusive at all.

  • This had to be the coolest AirBnb we have ever stayed at. Michael cooked us an amazing dinner and taught us a yoga/mediation course. It was an wonderful experience to not just stay at a place temporarily but to actually experience this beautiful place. We highly recommend checking out this hidden gem in the Ozarks.

    Greg2019-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Clean rustic cabin with nice ammenities. My stay was brief, just needed a quiet place to lay my head for the night. Michael is a gracious host who cares about the experience of his guests. Communication was very prompt and responsive. Didn't have any time to explore, but what I saw of the grounds was very beautiful and serene.

    Cynthia2019-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved our stay - it was just what we wanted to get out of the city. The grounds are really expansive and fun to explore, with lots of wildlife. The cabin is very comfortable and we loved the jacuzzi tub. We also took advantage of offerings such as yoga/meditation class, vegetarian meal cooked by Michael, and a massage scheduled for our arrival. All of it was wonderful and added a lot to our short trip! We really enjoyed our conversations with Michael and admiring his artwork. Highly recommended and we hope to return!!
