  • We ended our 2 week trip to Bocas with a couple of nights in the floating lodge which was a really unique experience. 2 nights for us was perfect to enjoy the quiet and seclusion although everywhere was just a boat ride with Eric away if you decided to venture out. Since it was $50 for a round trip to Bocas Town and $30 each way for pick up/drop off that could get a bit pricey so I'd probably say most people would enjoy this place best if they were done with Bocas Town and staying on the other islands or headed there afterwards. The included breakfast was very simple (jam and bread with a smoothie - one of the best smoothies I've ever had!), but you could add on some extra items (eggs, ham, etc) for more $ if needed. Prices in the store for beer and wine were very reasonable, and dinner was a fair price given the location of the property and Karine's cooking was great - really appreciated her accommodating to a vegetarian diet on request! Communication to contact them during our stay was through Whats App which we had some issues with on the first day since the wifi was not really working, but Eric made some router adjustments and everything was smooth after that on day 2. Karine is one of the sweetest hosts we have ever had and the entire property is very very interesting (ask Eric to try to find sloths for you - quick boat ride away!) The room was a fine temperature for sleeping with just the fans, bed was extremely comfortable and clean, fridge was great to have, and we did not mind that the showers are cold water ones. During the day was really great - we snorkeled right off the cabin, tried stand up paddle boarding, kayaked a little bit, and just relaxed and read off the deck. Once the sun is down it is totally dark and quiet - we had ordered dinner for 7:00 the first night thinking it would give us something to do that evening, but I'd probably recommend eating dinner while it's still a bit light out - there are a lot of very curious little lizards that come out to see what's on the menu and hang out in the light after dark (counted 17 at one point on the outdoor wall beside us!) This didn't bother us, but it was a more relaxed dinner for sure the next night when we ate with the sun still up and then just read our books afterwards. Was the perfect end to a great two weeks in Bocas when we were looking for some R&R, highly recommended!

  • Travelling two months through Costa Rica and Panama it was up to now our best place to stay and for us worth beeing star-rated dinners. Karine is an outstanding cook!!! Also the excursions with Eric were fantastic. Go there - it is a MUST

  • Karine and Eric made their own paradise in the mangroves which they shared with us. We stayed in the floating lodge 8 nights and it was perfect! The lodge is well equipped and everything was very clean. Karine's cooking skills are amazing... We loved her food!!! The two were perfect hosts! With Eric we did a lot of tours with his boat and they were incredible like dolphins watching, seeing sloths, driving to Bocas, the cave, red frog beach etc. He is such a funny guy and had every day a new adventure for us! The love to their two dogs I could not hide after the first day. So special greetings to Buffy and Arena😘. Thank you Karine and Eric for the perfect end of our stay in Panama!

  • Our stay at the floating lodge was a real highlight of our holiday. Karine and Eric are excellent hosts and nothing seems too much for them. Eric took us out in the kayaks to see the sloths and in the boat to dolphin bay. Karine’s food was amazing and their house is beautiful! A truly unique stay and our only regret is that we wish we could have stayed longer!

  • This place met all our expectations and then some. From the easy communication, to transport very early in the morning, food and then lodging—all were superb. Karine’s cooking is beyond words. Her fruit smoothies, fresh jams, and cocoa cake were among our favorites. We had a blast in the kayak searching for area sloths (finding 2 adults and a baby). Paul had fun fishing from the dock each night and I had a blast on the paddleboard. This is NOT your normal vacation. But if you are looking to escape the world and have a change of pace- this is for you.

  • Perfection! We spent two nights - far too few nights - at Floating Lodge, and loved every second. Karine and Eric are perfect hosts, attending to every possible requirement and filling the space with so much beauty and charm. Their assistance with local knowledge was invaluable and the amenities they provided allowed us to make the most of the area during our stay. I can honestly say that this is THE GREATEST AIR BNB WE HAVE EVER STAYED AT. We will return and we highly recommend!

  • We spent 6 unforgettable days with Karine and Eric. The two have built their little paradise, where they let us participate. Eric picked us up in Almirante and took us by boat to Floating Lodge. He showed us sloths and dolphins on excursions. Karine is a great hostess and excellent cook. We were looking forward to dinner every day. The sea at the lodge is usually very quiet and ideal for swimming as well as for excursions by SUP or kayak. Eric also drove us to Bocas Town one day and picked us up there. We then rented e-bikes and went to Bluff Beach, which was very worthwhile. If you want to spend a few days in peace away from streets, shops, people, noise, etc., is just right.

  • We had a fantastic stay with Karine and Eric. Both of them are very friendly and courteous as hosts. From the pick-up at the harbour to the return to the harbour (after 4 days) everything worked out super and uncomplicated. We could borrow the kayak and the SUP at any time. At breakfast we discussed the day and organized the offered tours. Everything went smoothly. The small tour through her self-created paradise is also worth experiencing. From a culinary point of view we were absolutely spoiled. Karin has responded to our wishes and even considered our preferences when choosing the food. The homemade coconut jam for breakfast was our highlight to start the day. Karin bakes the brioche herself and also all jams are made by herself. We were very well fed! Karine and Eric try so hard that the stay becomes something very special. With us, the two have more than succeeded and we can only recommend them to others. Many thanks to both of you for this unforgettable experience.

  • What a relaxing, wonderful place with lovely hosts. The food was very good. We saw sloth while kayaking and enjoyed lazy time in the hammock. The bed was very comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

  • We had a great time staying at the toucan loco. The place and surroundings are absolutely beautiful, very peaceful and private and a little off the tourists path. Great spot for relaxing, taking free canoes for a ride, doing some snorkeling etc. The hosts are hospitable and lovely people, food was fantastic. Hope to return some time and will definitely recommend!

  • Superb place. Peace and magic await you. What a joy to see the local population in canoes pass in front of the terrace of their accommodation and to take advantage of the links established by Sylvie and Olivier with their Amerindian neighbors. They are very welcoming and considerate hosts and the icing on the cake, the food made by Sylvie is delicious. We would like to spend many long and lonely days daydreaming on the terrace of this magnificent floating lodge ...

    Cécile2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • I can not speak more highly of this location. The hosts are fantastic people who know the area well. The food is excellent. The room is comfortable. The location is a true retreat. Being slowly rocked by the waves and the sounds of the ocean and the monkeys of the jungle make for some of the best sleep of your life. Do yourself a favor and rent this lodge.

    Daria2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • The floating lodge of Olivier and Sylvie was really extraordinary and one of the highlights of our trip. The lodge was only recently completed and, thus, everything is shiny, new and in perfect condition. You are perfectly isolated and guaranteed to be far away from any other tourists. The lodge is very nicely designed and with great attention to detail. Everything is perfectly thought through. The accommodation floats in a calm bay, hence, you feel gentle rocking at night that is very soothing but we never felt major, uncomfortable pushes by the waves. Olivier and Sylvie are great hosts. They clearly put effort into making the stay as pleasant and as memorable as possible. Starting from the first transportation to food and drinks and day time activities. The breakfast included in the price was a real treat with homemade and unique jams, smoothies, bread or pancakes. Lunch and dinner is available for a surcharge. Compared to other restaurants in the bay, it is a bit more pricey. However, you will be rewarded with a unique culinary experience, as Sylvie, who used to be a chef in France, prepares local ingredients with a French touch. The lodge comes with a plethora of equipment free to use. Including kayaks and snorkeling gear. While the overall price of the accommodation is comparatively high to surrounding offers, most other places will charge for the use of these things, which quickly offsets the price difference. Olivier is great in providing tips and hints for activities and also offers some boat-powered trips against an extra charge. Kayaking in the bay and through the mangroves is super beautiful and should not be missed out on, especially as sloths can be spotted during the trip. In summary our stay at the floating lodge was a truly remarkable experience and we can highly recommend it to any follow travelers. Don't be put off by the nominally high price tag, the place is definitely worth the money.

  • Staying at the Floating Lodge was a real treat in so many ways. I have many wonderful memories but I think waking up to glassy smooth water at sunrise then watching the locals glide by quietly in their cayugas was the best. The bed is super comfortable, good air flow with screening and a fan kept the insects out and the temperature perfect. Olivier and Sylvie constructed and decorated a one of a kind retreat that has character (a cayuga sink), comfort and great amenities. Sylvie makes the soaps and shampoo to be eco-friendly. Conservation of power and water is important as you are living off the grid here but we had no problems and appreciated the importance of being mindful. Sylvie also prepares all your tasty meals with great care and flavor. We kayaked, snorkeled, and found dolphins all very close to the 'lodge'. Olivier knows the spots. It is a very special place. Be aware that you must use a dinghy to go to the main house for meals as the lodge is a floating bedroom and bathroom surrounded by water. Fabulous!!

  • Michelle's place is a rare treasure - a picture-perfect romantic retreat. You have as much privacy as you want and/or as much delightful sparkling conversation as you want with Joyce and Michelle. Monkey Island was one of the highlights for my husband. Every meal was an exciting adventure. Everything perfect for us.

    Mary Ann2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Have you ever thought of a place that is beyond your creative dreams for a vacation? Well, that is the Caribbean sea plus a must stay at Michelle's place. For us, it was beyond our expectations. Michelle was an incredible host, she prepared amazing food with ingredients from her garden. We had a comfy large bedroom that opened directly to the sea, a shower with rain water which is the right temperature ofc, and a porch with hamac and rocking chairs. Water was incredible clear and perfect for swim. I can write on and on but in the end is the same conclusion: this is the eco-friendly place you would want stay when visiting Bocas del Torro in Panama.

  • Michelle is a great host. Both myself and my 6 year old really enjoyed staying at her place and associating with her and her friend. The property is as described. You can travel from the various islands by water taxi. This can get pricey and they only take cash. Please keep this in mind, so you can get the best of the experience. Michelle was great with scheduling boat rides as needed in order to get you where you needed to go. If you have questions about tours, she can assist you with that as well. We really enjoyed the peacefulness of the property, the nature, and Michelle’s great cooking. I asked if she could make some fish for me while I was there. She was able to get an amazing spread together. The red snapper is a must, if you like fish. All was so fresh and very tasty. My son is a picky eater, but she tried day after day to find something he would eat. We finally had a few thing narrowed down over time. My son said he was going to miss her and her friend when we left. It’s definitely a different experience and for the open-minded, but well worth the journey. I definitely recommend staying at Michelle’s place. I wish I would have planned to stay longer.

  • This magical place is for people who love being in nature and on the water. Expect the sounds of the jungle to be your music and the windows into nature to be your television. Expect your taxi to be by boat and expect to swim rather than walk. Expect your food to take longer because the ingredients are picked fresh from the garden and lots of labor goes into the meal you’ll eventually love and savor. Michelle uses her knowledge of blending spices and Ayurvedic medicine to serve you the healing and healthy food! Do not expect regular internet, cellular service, or processed foods. Michelle is full of knowledge and experience that will interest anyone who loves to learn about the world through travel. If you are lucky to hear some of her stories, you will walk away inspired. The place is one of the most tranquil places I have been. Waking up to sunrise and watching the twinkling stars and bioluminescence at night is beautiful. I learned how to make coconut oil, how chocolate is processed and that Howler monkeys will lounge on your shoulders if you have good energy. I spent four days and wish I could have spent more. I’m grateful to have been to De La Luna and will come again!

    Keedra2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect days in Paradise. Michelle is a very good host and cares a lot about her guests. You will get the real Bocas experience at De la Luna Resort. I definitely recommend it! Thank you very much Michelle for these breahtaking days.

    Viktor2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had an unbelievable stay in Michelle’s romantic bungalow. After being a little disappointed over our first days in Bocas Del Toro we were beyond delighted with our stay with Michelle. We could not have asked for a better way to spend our honeymoon. The food was unbelievable, I have never eaten vegan food before and I’m not a big fan of trying new food either. So I was delighted to figure out that every dish was delicious and filled with flavors I had never even heard of, let alone eaten before. The bungalow has an amazing view, making you feel like you are truly in touch with the nature, and the conversations we had, and all the things we learned from Michelle may have been the biggest surprise of all. We look forward to our next stay already! Words can’t describe how amazing our stay was. If there is ever a place I will recommend someone to go, it is without a doubt here!

    Marcela2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • I truly feel Michelle's place should be written up in a magazine. I challenge anyone to find a more eco-sensitive experience anywhere on the planet. One note: while you are not required to eat your meals there, be aware that there are zero other options unless you bring everything with you - or perhaps if you have your own boat or want to take a water taxi to Bocas Town (approx 45 mins) each time you want to eat. However, Michelle is a fabulous chef. We loved every meal we had. Absolutely everything is locally sourced - most of it from her own farm that extends up the hill from the lodging. People who prefer vegan diets will love it. We do not follow that particular lifestyle ourselves but had a meal she prepared where everything was plant-based and came from her garden/farm. It was wonderful. We will be sure to visit her again the next time we are in Bocas. Plus, she is a fabulous person just to sit and talk with. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

    Dan2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our time at Michelle's beautiful bungalow was an experience like none other. Michelle and her friend, Francois, who hosted us treated us like family and took such good care of us it felt like we were at an all-inclusive resort. We felt confident at every turn and Michelle helped us arrange all of our transportation and activities with ease. She was always thinking ahead to what we might want or need, and went above and beyond to give us a unique experience. Every meal was farm to table and mindblowing, from our first experiences with vegan food to catching and preparing our own Conch. She even arranged for us to have fresh-caught lobster when we mentioned we loved shellfish. We loved our visit to Monkey Island and Zapatilla but truthfully, could have easily spent our days snorkeling, kayaking, reading in our hammocks, and conversing with our hosts. It felt like the perfect compromise between having some creature comforts and living off the grid, which was perfect for us for our 3 day visit. We can't wait to return.

  • This was our second time staying here and definitely not our last! The floating house is very unique with all the creature comforts of home, very spacious with three queen size bedrooms, and three large common areas such as the front deck, the lounge deck and the up stairs sun deck with the most amazing views of the bay. The house was sparkling clean. The location is perfect to take in a lot of what Panama has to offer. From beautiful sunrises and dolphins playing right of the deck, to howler monkeys deep in the jungle out the back door. We also got to see sloths up close and brightly colored frogs. Then jump in Dave and Shelley’s SUPER COMFORTABLE BOAT and took a trip to red frog beach, where we got to enjoy the beach, beverages and food! All was amazing and even saw a small caiman in the pond on the way out. Dave and Shelley are the best hosts I have ever had with airbnb and are very attentive to your needs. Also the pick up and drop off boat ride from town is included! So no hassles trying to get a water taxi, they will also show you the grocery stores and give you a list of best places to shop. We also took an extra excursion with Dave and Shelley to Bird island and Starfish beach and had an absolute blast, plus going with them we did not have to get water taxis. We will be staying here again in the the future!

  • What a unique place to stay close to Bocas town! We absolutely loved our time here. It is peaceful, very clean and well maintained. There are kayaks and a paddle board for use. The hosts were so helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our time spent with them. We also enjoyed snorkeling, walking through the jungle paths and lounging around the decks. Although the spaces/ bedrooms are all near each other, you still felt like it was private from the other people in our group. We had five people and this place worked out well for us. We appreciated having the kitchen so we could cook while we staying there. Our favorite part was having the deck space so you could watch all of the fish and starfish. We had never seen so many starfish! We also got to see dolphins near the deck. We spent two weeks in Panama and this was our favorite place. All five of us would all highly recommend staying here!

We had a fantastic boat ride and day with this nice couple! Shelly and Dave are great guide to help you to discover the region. Thank you Shelly an Dave for a memorable stay at your place!

  • De la Luna is on an island close to Bocas del Toro and the only way to get to experience this truly wonderful location and host is by boat. It’s about a 45 minute boat ride and cost us about $75 per boat ride as we had four people in our party. Any outside excursions from the island are by boat only and the cost is around $50 per boat ride, e.g., to Monkey Island. Be prepared to spend money on boat transportation. Two people in our party were AARP members and two were in their 30s. The older of the group grew up on Gilligan’s Island shows and became quickly aware that they, too, would get to experience Gilligan’s adventures while on the island. Here’s a quick recap: There is little if any cell service on the island, there is no WIFI, you use flashlights at night to move around the compound, you take cold showers because there is no hot water and your walking opportunities are limited in space as you live by the water and the land behind you is seemingly untouched jungle. Sounds like it’s not a full scale resort with Spa’s and Room Service, it’s not! What you will find as you arrive is a wonderful host, Michelle, who is the owner of the farm/resort and she makes the island experience a very memorable event. Here’s a quick recap: She has a main building that houses the kitchen, small bar and seating area. We stayed in two bungalows, one directly over the water and one adjacent to the water. Both locations allow for almost instant snorkeling experiences and are a very short walk to the main building. Michelle is the cook who uses ingredients grown on her island farm. Now when I say cook, you might envision a short order cook tossing meals your way. Quiet the contrary as Michelle not only serves very delicious meals but makes sure they are presented to you in a manner that is conducive to the island experience. Soup bowls made out of the shells of locally grown fruit, fresh fish caught from the local waters, placemats made from green leaves found on the island and salads made from Hibiscus flowers. She even accommodated one person in our party who had some eating restrictions and she went out of her way to make sure that her dining experience was excellent. During our stay Michelle proved not only to be a wonderful host but also a most interesting conversationalist, sharing information about the islands, her world travel experiences, and facts and tidbits about Panama in general. If you want to have a truly memorable experience and sample a taste of Gilligan’s Island, you won’t be disappointed. The time on the island will forever leave great memories to share. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to De la Luna Resort!

  • If you want to be in direct touch with Mother Nature, De la Luna is the place to go. Michelle is an outstanding host and the place is amazing. Waking up everyday with the sound of the ocean is amazing. Michelle’s food is incredible and she will cater to your preferences. Definitely a great place to relax! Absolutely loved it!!! 🥰❤️

  • Woke up one morning and sat up on my bed. Immediately saw a spotted eagle stingray jump up 1-1.5 feet and belly splashed. The next day, a Dolphin passed by. Note this is all within 2 minutes Of waking up. An amazing site. Food provided daily was dominantly local ingredients from the island. Worth the price. Water is filled with starfish and bioluminescence. Didn’t want to leave. Michelle provides great hospitality and we felt welcomed and more importantly, wanted there. Not just another guest.

  • My stay at La Luna was exceptional, memorable. The environment is ideal for travelers wishing to escape from everyday life! Michelle is a great host and an outstanding chef. Do not hesitate to go relax in this nature quite heavenly.

  • If you are looking at the reviews because you are not sure about this place, STOP and book right now! We just had an amazing weekend at Michelle's and we can't wait to return. The place and the sights are amazing and you can kayak or swim straight out of your room (a lot of starfish). Michelle is the best host we have ever had. You'll have a blast with her and she'll feel received you with a lot of joy. Also, all the food is farmed and cooked by her and is simple the BEST. You should consider bring extra budget for food and drinks, but is totally worth it (try her home made drink: Tepache De la Luna, awesome!).

  • The place is relaxing, to de-stress. Paradisiacal, transparent waters, where you can snorkel, kayak, explore the trails where you can find banana plantations, cocoa, coconut trees, organic garden. You can see starfish, we were lucky to see bioluminescence, brain coral, fish, frogs, toads The hostess is very kind, cordial, is very particular. Highly recommended in every way

  • A heavenly place, a brilliant hostess by her intelligence, her taste for aesthetics, her refined cuisine, her sense of humor, his musical tastes just perfect and his joie de vivre. Once Paradise is discovered at Casa de la Luna, on the island of Loma Partida, we never forget it and we can not wait to return ... Thank you Michelle for this magical place that you knew how to make unique, in your image ... If you stay in the archipelago De Bocas del Toro, it's a must.

    Véronique2018-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Michelle's personal paradise has just been amazing! We stayed at the beautiful casa las palmas and enjoyed the ocean breeze while sleeping and especially our personal waterfront chill area.. Michelle herself is the best host you can imagine - she is an excellent chef and super caring and also has very inspiring views on life and can teach you a lot (cacao production, sustainable cooking, etc). The boat ride from bocas was well arranged and worked perfectly! We loved our stay with Michelle and are happy that we found a new friend those couple of days .. we would definetly recommend staying in this hidden paradise! Enjoy!

She wishes to share her passion for the environment and the monkeys with those who come visit the island. She also wishes to give back to the land, and the native Ngäbe by providing jobs for them and letting them be a part of her dream. Her dream is to live a simple life with nothing other than her beloved monkeys, a plate of fresh lobster and a cold glass of rum. Welcome to this amazing experience!

  • We had a very nice stay at Jorge's place. It's a bit difficult to get to the place if you don't have a 4x4. If you don't Jorge will be glad to pick you up at the main road. Also he said he will construct a new street soon. The house itself is clean and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. The view from his property overlooking the islands of Bocas del Toro is amazing. The dinner Jorge's cousin prepared was delicious. We went there with our daughter and she had a great time playing with the kid of one of the neighbors. Also it's a very good place to stay overnight if you wanna catch the ferry to Bocas early in the morning. We would definitely go back to this place and recommend it to everyone who wants to have a relaxed and authentic stay in Panama.

Our home is situated atop a small hill with spectacular views of Baja Chiriqui and the mountains of the Continental Divide. It is powered by a large solar array which provides electricity for the refrigerator/freezer, microwave, washing machine, entertainment, lights, and fans with a back up generator. There is no air conditioner or hair dryer, coffee is made by melita pour over. Care must be taken to not waste electricity, but the simplicity of remote living is a refreshing change.
Our neighborhood is sparsely populated by a few expats from various countries, and predominately by the gentle indigenous people of the region. If you wish, a visit to the school, accompanied by some much needed school supplies, is a fun way to interact with the local community. The nearby settlement of Loma Partida has several small stores (tiendas) where you can purchase necessities such as pantry items, gasoline, fish, etc. Local availability of perishable foods is limited out here, but easily found in larger towns. There are several options for dining out, including some which need to be arranged ahead of time. Contact lists will be provided. Venture out to enjoy the areas attractions such as bird watching (easily done while having your morning coffee or evening cocktail on our wrap around deck), hiking ( in the back yard), fishing ( off the dock too), snorkeling (again off our dock), and beaches. Fishing gear, masks and snorkels, a kayak, and native cayuco are all available for use.

  • The creative and ingenious talents of Isabelle and Joel shine through in the oasis they call home. By the time we left after our 4 day stay, we realized the special gift we had been given by being able to share their beautiful property filled with gardens and vegetation of all types surrounding an incredible pool overlooking the ocean. The guest cottage is spacious with incredible views. We had looked to stay on the the island of Boccas Del Torro yet determined that getting our rental car on the ferry was not guaranteed. Instead, we drove the short 20 minutes from the house to Alamirante, parked in the public lot and took the water taxi over on two separate days, for the full day. It worked out very well, and was inexpensive and easy. Overall our experience at this location was gorgeous and peaceful. Isabelle is a fantastic cook and Joel a library of knowledge on Panamanian gardening and harvesting. They are truly special people and hopefully we will be able to visit again some day. Thank you Isabelle and Joel for your kindness and wonderful hospitality!

  • We spent two days with Isabelle and Joel. The two are very open-minded, lovingly and yet very discreet. Breakfast was delicious. Everything on the table was from the house. A surprise was the possibility to take additional meals. The menu is extensive and varied. A special surprise was the colorful flower garden as well as the vegetable and herb garden. The nice pets were a nice addition. Joel led over the property including herb garden. We were impressed by the variety of fruits and vegetables. Of course everything is organic and organic. The islands are nearby. Visiting the island on weekends is not recommended as it is very crowded and crowded. Thank you for the nice and relaxing time!

  • Michelle‘s place ‚De La Luna‘ is unique, remote and the perfect spot to forget about all your everyday-life worries! Michelle and her pets are great hosts, giving you all the help and information to experience your own adventure in the Bocas region (far away from the touristy areas). We never u as delicious and ‚local’ as here, Michelle is an awesome cook! Highly recommended!
