Access the beach via our private trail. The cabin has a toilet and sink indoors and a FABULOUS heated outdoor shower attached! The cabin is perfect for 2 people or a couple with one child. Enjoy the lovely ocean view deck!
The cabin is comfortable and cozy. Located on the "wooded" side of the property it has a magical feel to it. The heated outdoor shower turns a basic shower into a beautiful experience in Nature.
The neighborhood is very quiet and friendly. We have neighbours but enjoy an exceptional amount of privacy. The cabin is detached from the main house and has a private deck for exclusive use of guests.
  • Karen and Cathy's place was great. The heated outdoor shower was spectacular. Awesome place, cozy, right on the water, easy walk down to the beach. Karen and Cathy were super accommodating, accepting our last minute request to stay and personally greeting us in the rain. Very clean and comfortable. Coffee, food, gas, atm all nearby in town.

  • I looooved this little cabin. I felt so grateful to have a stunning view of the ocean right at my from door. The private trail down to the beach was lovely. Great place to have my morning coffee. This place is very clean, new and private. I highly recommend it!

  • A gorgeous little cabin with breathtaking views. The private beach and hot shower under the stars make this a must stay. Karen and Cathy could not have been more accommodating, offering great suggestions for local visits and even helping us get the fire pit started on the beach one evening. Would highly recommend. Thanks for a lovely stay :)

  • Great hosts in a sparkly clean beautiful accommodation. The location is stunning with views to the water and a 2 minute walk down a garden path to the beach. The views are special, especially if you get up early and take in the glorious sunrise. We were lucky with amazing colours in early October. The cabin was spotless and had all the items we needed. Wifi was great and I especially like not having a TV so you make the most of the surrounding. The outdoor shower was a fantastic experience as well. We used the BBQ provided directly outside the cabin and we were blessed with deer walking past as we ate breakfast, about 3 feet away. We were then shocked in the evening when a large raccoon climbed down the tree 15 feet from us as we ate on the decking. Superbly positioned to visit other locations on the island, North and South. Engaging and fit they even invited me to jog through the forest with the group which enhanced the experience as I'd never considered running through the dense forest without getting lost. So thanks again to you all for allowing me to participate. Thanks again. Cliff & Lisa Highly recommended x

  • Great scenery, great local tips from Karen and Cathy. Fun showering outside in nature after a run around the neighborhood or a trek up from their ocean view beach!

  • Beautiful little cabin as advertised.

    Sarah2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Cathy are fantastic hosts, with a picturesque cabin on their oceanfront property. They were very friendly and welcoming, ensuring we had everything we needed, but also gave us our privacy. They had great tips on local things to see, and we had a wonderful time staying on their cabin. We'd love to come back again!

    Jonathan2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a rare hidden gem find. The view is spectacular, cabin is simplified with all the right elements to enjoy your time there and was sparkling clean. Karen and Cathy were more than welcoming and accommodated us from having returned from the Broken Group Islands and permitted us to take over their yard to dry out our items and even wash our things. Our family who will be traveling with us on our journey home will be grateful !! We had tons of ideas of things we would do but we chose to just enjoy the solitude of the space and scene. We did try out their local recommendations and the coffee brew house didn't disappoint. The Taco place was the best that we have also ever had just bring some cash !! We would definitely love to come back again.

We invite you to experience a true  peice of paradise, our cabin is nestled between trees and just steps away from the Pacific Ocean. Welcome to ocean front paradise, wake up to peaceful oceansounds and spectacular views of many different island and mountain ranges. We invite you to experience a true piece of paradise, 80 steps will bring you to our quaint cabin on the beach. No need to worry about luggage, our gondola will handle that!
Newly renovated from top to bottom studio style cabin with a queensize bed. The bathroom has it's own shower. The kitchen includes  fridge stove and oven, with all cooking essentials just bring your groceries. Enjoy the BBQ on the patio for outdoor cooking.
  • Instead of Quaint Cabin on the beach it should read, FABULOUS CABIN ON THE BEACH! You drive into a typical neighborhood and find your self walking through the Garden of Eden to only end up on the most beautiful beach and views you can ask for. There is a deck where I had my coffee every morning and watched the sun rise. The first morning I was joined by a mother deer and her 2 fawns playing with each other. On our last morning we got to enjoy watching an eagle eat his breakfast. Our hosts Michelle and Ray could not have been more hospitable while always giving us our privacy. Ray makes incredible beef jerky that he so generously shared as Michelle gave me some of her homemade berry jam, delicious! This quaint cabin on the beach had it all, a homey feeling, a gorgeous view, privacy, the ocean, nature, trees, wildlife....everything we came to British Colombia for and found in Bowser. I would highly recommend it.

  • A really beautiful place to get away for a few days to relax and recharge. Michelle and Ray were fantastic hosts giving us lots of info on places to eat and local hikes. The views are spectacular!

    Talia2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle and Ray have an amazing place for guests. The setting couldn’t be more spectacular; the roar of the ocean right at your door step and all the amenities you need to feel comfortable. Communication with the hosts was fantastic and their hospitality was top notch. I highly recommend checking out this place - amazing place for amazing value!

    Andrew2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really awesome. We so enjoyed our time at this wonderful little house right at the ocean. Michelle and Ray are great hosts and have a lot of information about the region. We really enjoyed talking to them. They are just very fine people. We woke up every morning to the sound of the waves. Bald eagles hunting right in front of the patio while some seals swim by curiously looking at you. We loved the place. It was absolutely clean and cozy. Don't worry to much about the 80 stairs to the house. They lead you through a beautiful garden where we could see deers and hummingbirds. For us there was nothing more we would have wished for. Thanks alot Michelle and Ray for your hospitality. We would love to come back.

  • The best place we've ever stayed in Canada. everything about this gorgeous cabin was delightful. A beautiful bit of unspoiled beach and the wildlife gave us many happy hours. So comfortable and so peaceful we'll never forget our stay.

    Gill2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We are so happy that Michelle and Ray share this magical place. We had the best time in the cabin at the beach and wished we could have stayed longer. Michelle is the friendliest and most thoughtful host we‘ve ever had. She even teached us how to pick and grill our own oysters. The cabin is super clean, cozy and you‘re directly at the beach with no neighbors around. It doesn‘t get any better than this!

  • Jenny and Tony’s place encapsulates the spirit and beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Situated in a private forested area steps from the beach; their beach house is the perfect location to unplug and unwind. • Ekta and Peter were amazing hosts. They went over and above for us.. they built us a fire pit as we miss camping, brought us more comfortable chairs, and were there with any information we needed. The cabin is cozy and rustic and has EVERYTHING you could need (I needed tape and we even found that in a drawer). The hot tub is fabulous annnnnnd we absolutely ADORED the chickens who act like dogs! They came running excitedly whenever they heard us out and about and even slept outside the door waiting for us to finish lunch or a game of cards We also recommend taking a pottery lesson.. It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. Thanks for everything! Cheers, Debra and Brent

We brought our own wood, and kept a strong fire going as it was quite cold outside when we were there. However it heated up quickly inside, especially in the sleeping loft up above. We would like to come back and stay longer next time, so as to enjoy the property more. Communication with the host was excellent - very quick responses.

  • This was one of the nicest ABB “rooms” we have stayed at. It is a basement (very bright) one bedroom apartment, very clean and stylish. Its location in Qualicum Beach was excellent. Close to the town center and even closer to the beach. Would recommend the Qualicum Beach Inn for food and drink. It’s just about a 10 minute walk away. The bar manager there, Kelly, is a great hostess!

    Bill2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was amazing. The location was ideal for us for travelling the south and west sides of the island. The guest suite was private from the main house with easy check-in and beautifully finished throughout all of the rooms with great attention to detail. Liz was a great host and sorted us out with ideas for local food when we arrived late and hungry! 11\10 would recommend

This Bowser ocean-front haven, lovingly renovated and added-to by Paul and Laura, features 3 bedrooms, an ocean view living room, open concept kitchen, its very own climbing wall and a path to the beach. We believe you will find it a warm, magical and adventurous spot to stay.
This space is beautifully situated and built to make the most of this stunning coastline. The views are ample and awe-inspiring. The house was renovated and added-to by Paul and Laura and we live in a little cottage on the beach when we rent out the house, so we are usually nearby to answer any questions.
Bowser is an incredibly friendly neighbourhood. It has a fantastic coastline and a good assortment of all the basic amenities and a few lovely extras! There is a grocery store, bank, cafe, library, liquor store, post office, pet supply and feed shop (which also sells locally grown farm eggs), fuel, gym, massage therapist, acupuncturist, hair dresser and the renowned Salish Sea Market that houses one of the finest collections of local artists on the west coast. And if you can't find what you need here, Qualicum Beach is only 20 minutes south along the coastal road, the wonderfully quaint village of Cumberland is 25 minutes away to the north, and the larger town of Courtenay is only 30 minutes north. There are lovely local hiking trails nearby and world-renowned mountain biking trails in Cumberland. There is the incredible ski hill of Mount Washington, and hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country ski trails in Strathcona Park only 45 minutes away. Access to Hornby Island and Denman Island is only 15 minutes away. In this area you really can ski one day and kayak the next.
  • We love staying at Laura &Paul’s-it’s a home away from home. Very comfortable, well-stocked kitchen and great views of Salish Sea

  • A fantastic home in a wonderful location. The view from the master bedroom was spectacular. Plenty to do within 15 minutes drive, we particularly enjoyed the caves and waterfalls. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Laura & Paul, but their hosting was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend staying here if traveling to Vancouver Island.

    Daniel2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • We have spent a week at Laura and Paul's place and absolutely loved it! It was very clean and super well equipped, especially the kitchen, and our four-year old son had fun with the games that were available there. We enjoyed very much the views of the ocean and their beautiful garden from the living room, one of the bed rooms and from the sun deck and we loved the walk down to the beach which felt very private. This was definitely the best airbnb we ever did! Thanks so much!

  • Our second time staying here and it was at least as lovely as our first time around. Will very likely come again! Amazing location, lovely space, very warm vibe and close to town. The beach at the property is fantastic as well. We love this spot.

    Daniel2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This has been an amazing place to stay the main bedroom is unbelievable with views from your bed and the area surrounding is totally unspoilt and great to explore.

    Lisa2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place for our party of four. The master bedroom view is serenity itself. The house is perfectly cozy in a lovely setting - sooo relaxing. We loved the trees, salt air, the view of the sunrise over the islands and the stairs down to the pebble beach. Laura was extremely responsive and generous with her vegetable garden! Kitchen had everything. Nearby grocery stores etc. Would return.

    Natalia2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Laura and Paul are truly gracious hosts, and this is a beautiful place to stay. The views of the water are amazing, and the kids loved the rock wall on the side of the house. This was our first visit to Bowser, and this home definitely exceeded our expectations.

  • Lynette is a lovely and very hospitable lady. It is a bedroom with a little kitchenette (a fridge, cutlery, some plates and a coffee machine). Sink is to be installed soon; she offered to do the dishes for us. She provides some breakfast options, water and coffee, which is really nice. Room is very clean and in-suite bathroom is newly renovated. There is no stove; she provided a camping stove for us within seconds. Fast responses always. Good value for your money. We felt right at home. Thanks so much Lynette!

  • We were very impressed with quick response, very accomodating to our requests! The cottage is clean, comfy, super quiet and relaxing, just sat outside for 1minute and a deer walked up, taking the trail through her back yard to the old train tracks we can walk to the park, beach, or into town even to visit gift store, coffee shops etc.Perfect place to escape from our busy life, slow down, enjoy ourdoors( like beach, Spider Lake...) and connect with nature!

    Eva2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lynette was very accommodating right from the getgo, easy to get ahold of and replies quickly. It was my first Airbnb stay and it was a quaint, quiet little suite. Very sweet lady! Definitely booking again next year.

    Jessie2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lynett's place is a work in progress but great value. Suitable for one or two, but basic amenities. Super clean, nice driveway access to the unit, and area to sit outside and have a drink. Wonderful nature all around. Sort of a half way stop between a lot of the communities where you can explore. Courtney, Cumberland, Campbell River, Coombs, Qualicum, Parksville and Ucluelet!

    Pamela2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lynette’s suite is very nice and comfortable with a beautiful forest back yard to enjoy. She was a friendly and gracious host. Would love to stay again !

a forested private 3/4 acre corner lot and a dead end - a short walk to the beach, the main road, and very close to all amenities. An is on the west coast of Canada - called the tropical island of the gulf; sunny weather and beautiful beaches. a get away, in nature - no need for watches, everything is on island time, slower and more flexible. Wildlife is abundant with eagles, sea-lions, seals, sea life, deer, wide variety of birds, lots of owls, no beavers or squirrels, just mink and possum.
This room is located downstairs in a wonderfully colourful whimsical home. Although it lacks traditional privacy, it is very popular and unique. Wake up to look out the window at roses, forest and other flowers. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms; the mainstay and the kids' room (Kids' Court). We have two bathrooms. Upstairs is literally a bathroom, with only a sink and a large claw-foot tub surrounded by mosaics, driftwood, a large sky light above the tub. Relax, light candles and stare up at the stars. Downstairs is a flush toilet, composting toilet, a urinal and soon a shower. Our home is an open concept kitchen and living room with three entrances. Everything you might want will be there, including lots of board games, a trapeze, landline and high speed internet. We don’t have a dishwasher, but pretty much everything else, including various types of coffee makers, a juicer, large dehydrator, gas stove, a microwave, stand up popcorn maker, deep-freezer and much more. Outside you will find a beautiful garden (minimal during dry season, August), lots of flowers, fruit trees, 8 kinds of berries, a fire-pit and a propane fire pit during fire bans, BBQ, a tree-fort, a trampoline, hammocks (weather depending), three outside cats and a timid goose named chicken. A great place for kids of all ages is waiting to provide you with lasting holiday memories. For more photos go to: flicker.com/photos/hornbyhouse
The island is surrounded by at more than 11 beautiful beaches, each one having a different charm. We are just up the road from Sandpiper beach, close to the main road and the trail network. Hornby is a forested island with only about 900 year round residents, most of whom are artist of some sort. Getting around is very easy via trails, roads, bikes and rides from locals. No where is more than 15 mins away. There is a gas bar, ice cream shop, a COOP with a hardware store, a post office, and several small shops and cafes located out front which surround a courtyard. During the summer months there are markets with local produce and crafts, more stores and restaurants and way more people. We also have a marina with a store that sells anything you might want plus Pizza and Cappuccinos. At the ferry landing there is a bar/restaurant with it's own dock. The best in my opinion, is to pack a picnic and go to the beach, Helliwell park, or just behind the house in the forest. On the island you can rent bikes, kayaks and paddle boards. You can go on fishing tours, go diving, get body work, share your yoga practice with many teachers in a variety of settings and just tour around and meet the artisans and interesting Hornby folk. We also have a fire department, a medical response team , a medical clinic and a doctor on call at all times. If you need one there is a dentist who works out of a converted school bus. If you like wine tasting, we have a Meadery (honey based wine), Winery with a vineyard, an alcoholic Cider business and a Ginnery, which also makes many other types of distilled liquor. There is no such thing as garbage here. All actual garbage is trucked off island and everything else is recycled and food is composted. There is also a free store at the recycling depot where you bring what you don't want and take what you do. Anything from clothes, appliances and even my kitchen sink.

Private cottage that we lovingly call Hobbit House. Located in a rural neighborhood where people value their privacy. We are centrally located to many island attractions. A private space with help close by in the main house. It was the little things that we missed while travelling such as good reading lamps beside the bed, we wanted to provide the comforts of home after a long journey. The space is perfect for a couple, however, we have 2 single beds if needed for kids or an extra traveler.
It has a real cottage feel, but has all of conveniences of a modern home. The kitchen is fully equipped and the bathroom is new. The beds and linens are new. The queen bed is Four Seasons. It is a nice blend of privacy and convenience. The back deck is surrounded by trees so it is nice and private. You will have your own personal parking spot beside the cabin.
The neighborhood has a rural feel but it is very close to major roads. It is also a very central location close to many tourist destinations and other towns on the Island. My favorite part about living here is the easy access to beautiful walking trails. You do not need your car to access the walking trails near the Fish Hatchery and Big Qualicum river. There is access to a railroad track from the property that will take you directly to the river and spectacular walking trails. The wooded trails by the Big Qualicum River, and other trails nearby, are spectacular. There is also close access to many of the beaches nearby.
  • Beautiful little cottage tucked away among the trees. Very cute decorations and furnishing and super comfy bed too!! The perfect little getaway with a great host too :) Definitely coming back here!

  • The Hobit House was an easily accessible gem. It was incredibly clean and had many thoughtful touches. Cosy nooks, great spots to read, comfortable bedding and incredibly quiet and peaceful. I was at a workshop during the days and coming home to the warmth and beautifully designed thoughtfully decorated space in the evenings really made it a wonderful trip. Would I return? Absolutely! It was much more than I expected and Scott was an gracious host. He was down to earth, pleasant and respectful. Thank you Scott!

The kitchen area is quite unique with Angleton slept balls which made the whole place seem quite charming. I will definitely book again next time I’m in the area.

Bright and spacious studio suite overlooking Baynes Sound. Private entrance, propane fireplace, double bed, kitchenette, and shower. Enjoy the peace and quiet or access the beach and many walks in the neighborhood. Fanny Bay is famous for its oysters grown right in the front yard. Ask about local seafood and cook your own or enjoy one of our local eateries. This is a great destination for relaxing or use it as a base for taking daytrips to nearby points of interest.
  • We stayed 2 weeks at the Crows nest and had an amazing time. Bev's place is really nice to relax and makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. You can go for a walk along the water when the tide is low and the location in general is great. Loved our stay! Thanks Bev.

  • Lovely place to stay. Great location and views (especially the bald eagles' nest). Thanks for a great stay. Mark

  • I highly recommend Happy Vista. The host is quick to respond and makes sure you have all you need for your stay. The cabin is comfortable, beautiful and the view is stunning. We were lucky enough to not only spot bald eagles, seals and sea lions but also got a glimpse of 2 killer whales! We are locals and still found the experience to be both relaxing and adventurous. We will be back!

    Jennifer2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Jen’s cabin. Being so close to the water having the fireplace in the evenings made our stay very cosy! Really great value and would definitely recommend!

    Charlotte2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jen's place is a gem! If an immaculately clean Airbnb, with Modern Amenities, well appointed decor, Quick Responsiveness from Hosts, and Amazing Views are not your desire, book a Motel 6 elsewhere...however, if they ARE in your favour, then you will not be disappointed:-)

    Brad2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • We love the place and is exactly what we needed for a short getaway :) We’ll be back for sure.

    Corey2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a cabin by the water, peaceful and quite with basic amenities a short walk or drive away, this cabin is ideal. It is well equipped and comfortable, wood burning fire with wood to purchase from local store.

    Gail2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at Jennifer's place. We stayed a bit longer this time, 5 days, but it still wasn't enough! The location is great-small town comfort and safety, with quiet neighbors and lots of privacy. The view is spectacular. Every morning we sat out on the front porch, drinking coffee, and watching the eagles and seals and just soaking in the view of the ocean. There is so much to explore in the area. Jennifer's place is clean and well-equipped. The bed is comfortable. One night we made a fire on the beach, cooked s'mores, and gazed up at the stars. The Milky Way is easily seen, with the darkness of the surrounding area. The kayaks are a significant amenity, with very few places that offer kayaks to use for free. Although we would like to explore other areas of Vancouver Island, we are reluctant to stay anywhere else because we love Jennifer's cabin so much! We can't wait to go back.

  • Robin and Jordan were considerate and helpful hosts. Their place has a gorgeous view and a pair of resident eagles. Lovely!

    Darlene2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of my favourite places that I’ve ever stayed. Totally gorgeous, clean, cozy. We even saw orcas from the living room window! The inside + outside are both stunning. We enjoyed the sauna and wandering around to the beach out front. Highly recommend this place.

  • Really beautiful spot, the unit does not disappoint!

    Joshua2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough about how wonderful this little place is. Robin has created a truly lovely rental - one that I hope to return to again, and again, and again. And the interior - it’s more stunning in person. The location is beyond beautiful, the bed super comfortable, and the infrared sauna warmed me up beautifully when I got chilled on one of the colder days. Robin was perfectly attentive while also providing privacy. Her hospitality was kind and thoughtful too.

    Nicola2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a stylish gem in a sea of beautiful surroundings. We travel a lot and this is a very special place. We will be coming back.

  • Robin & Jordan were amazing hosts. They accommodated us with whatever we needed right away. The suite was immaculate, and the view was even better! Wish we could have stayed longer but will definitely stay there again in the future.

    Tristano2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome. We really wished we had stayed longer and will definitely be back. The view is stunning and the space is incredible. So comfortable and every detail is handcrafted. The private sauna was a very luxurious treat after a brisk winter walk on the beach. The beach which you have stairs access to was very unique and private. It’s mostly rocky but so cool, with eagles and sea lions everywhere. You really feel you are surrounded by nature while staying here. Robin and Jordan were great hosts and have created a special, one of a kind place. I can’t say enough good things about it. Stay here!

    Jon2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • This guest suite is absolutely stunning. From the moment you walk in you can feel the care and love put into the space. Beautiful hand milled timber beams and floors, and heated stone floors in the kitchenette and bathroom. You can tell that appliances and finishings are of high quality. You really feel pampered here. For a “small space” it actually sort of feels like a whole house because of the cool design. The private sauna attached to the washroom was heaven and has a spectacular view of the ocean while you are sitting in it. Actually you can see the ocean from every part of the space which is lovely. The king sized bed was very very comfortable with really nice bedding, we slept like babies. As it is winter we did enjoy some strolls outside in the pristine natural setting but mostly just relaxed and stayed cozy. I can imagine that in summer the patio and beautiful quiet rocky beach would be heaven. A very peaceful, quiet space to unplug. Would stay again for sure.

  • The cottage is situated in a beautiful garden space and there is a lovely patio to use. Catie is a gracious host and really cares about a great guest experience with little details throughout like coffee and treats in the fridge left for us. The cottage is meticulously kept clean and the bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. We had a restful and serene stay and would definitely book again.

  • Caties little cottage is a great place to relax. The cottage is within their own yard and there's a patio outside the cottage where you can enjoy the well maintained and designed garden with various nice little details and humming birds. Location is nice, some things within walking distance and with a car you can really enjoy the beautiful surrounding areas.

This bright, inviting bungalow is the perfect spot for your Island getaway. Bowser is Vancouver Island's best kept secret with all the amenities you need and none of the busy city traffic or noise. Fall asleep listening to the gentle ocean sounds and wake up to a beautiful sunrise on a sunny day. Stroll the quiet neighbourhood, walk the beach or hike in the woods, it's all here waiting for you.
We have our own little Grocery store in the neighbourhood (Tomm's), quite a few eateries, a library, gift shop, gas station, hardware store, pharmacy, Things & Stuff Antiques & collectibles shop, convenience/liquor store (Georgia Park) We're the best kept secret on the Island our little town.
  • My friends and I had a lovely stay at this charming bungalow. We were there for a poetry writing retreat and the setting for this was excellent, very scenic and peaceful. A beautiful beach is a short walk away (it's rocky so not suitable for swimming, but great for walking, or sitting and enjoying the sunset; a still-rocky but slightly-more-swimmable beach is a 20-minute drive away). The large deck was perfect for star gazing, and we saw quite a few shooting stars. There was plenty of wildlife to enjoy, from the birds in the trees to the deer and bunnies in the yard. The place was spacious, very clean and well-equipped with blankets and everything we needed. There was, however, some black mould on the bathroom ceiling which wasn't so good for allergies. Also, a lot of wasps in Bowser at summer's end, but traps were provided. Leah was a friendly and attentive host. She welcomed us with lots of little extras and flourishes, from the greeting card to the fresh breakfast ingredients, and made a point of introducing herself in person. She was available for anything we needed. It was a wonderful retreat.

    Natasha2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Leah is so welcoming and friendly. She makes you feel like you are part of the family. Her dogs even join in on the welcoming party. If you are looking for a lovely place to stay with an amazing view this is definitely the place to stay. Highly recommended.

    Misty2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a real gem in a quiet neighbourhood. Lovely space to relax in, great views and well placed to explore the island. We saw deer, seals, rabbits, squirrels & an eagle just in the neighbourhood.

    Liz2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hospitality

    Shannon2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The host, Leah, is an absolute gem, and even though the house was perfect, her charm and welcoming presence made our stay even more wonderful! Everything you need is here. Our family of 7 was very comfortable staying here, and we loved the location, the view, and the little touches that Leah provided! She welcomed us with open arms, chocolates, a lovely card and even a bouquet of flowers! The rooms are well decorated, the house spotless and stocked with everything you’d ever need, and the glamping tent was perfect for my husband and I to use as our own private space! We will be back for sure!! Thank you so much Leah!!!

    Kylie2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect accommodation for us for a family reunion with nearby family who live in Bowser, as it comfortably accommodated extra family members who stayed for a few days. The condo tent is perfect for that. We were a group of 3 generations and everyone’s needs were met. Leah’s special touches of flowers, breakfast ingredients in the fridge for our first morning, chocolates and goodies was so lovely to have on arrival - even a personalized, handwritten welcome greeting card! Everything is there - a home away from home, close to the beach with an ocean view and a huge yard for the kids to play. Grandson loved making s’mores around the outdoor fire pit!

    Joanne2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • We traveled to bowser for a little family get away! We were overwhelmed by the warm welcome and amazing little touches including fresh fruit, a lovely card, and chocolates just to name a few things. Leah is an amazing host and has a great personality. She welcomed us from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Couldn’t ask for a better host! The home was cozy and felt like the prefect home away from home. We loved the touches on the tent out back to make it feel just as cozy! Highly recommend this property if you are visiting bowser, just a short walk to the water and truly a place that offers complete peace.

    Brittany2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a quiet neighborhood with dear in the yard it is very well maintained. The hosts live a couple houses away are are very accommodating. I felt so safe staying here, it's like being at home!. The beds are the best I have ever slept in, I will be buying on for my home. A lovely, bright, simple home on 2 acres. This is a perfect place for anyone, an easy and well equipped place to spend your quality time. There is a big living room, but an even bigger deck and a beautiful yard. There are skylights in each room, which lets you stargaze from the comfort of your bed. (Hornby has amazing stargazing)
The house is located on a quiet country road, tucked in beside the mountain and only a 5 minute walk to the water. The local pub is also a 5 minute walk, and if you are a biking or hiking enthusiast, the renowned Mount Geoffrey trails are out the front door. There is lots of clear green space to enjoy the forest, and listen to the birds. We have a hide a bed and two kiddie cots available if needed.
    A peaceful private neighbourhood.

Charmaine is a very gracious host and was in touch several times to ensure everything was good at the cottage. The deck overlooking the large yard is fabulous and the property is really quiet. Provided the perfect spot to explore the beautiful Hornby Island! Highly recommend this location, particularly if looking for peace and quiet.

    Hornby Island, BC, Canada

A wonderfully colourful whimsical home on Hornby Is., in the gulf islands on the west coast of Canada. It's actually called the tropical island of the gulf, because of the sunny weather and beautiful beaches. A great place to get away, be in nature, and relax. You won't need your watch, everything is on island time, slower and more flexible. Wildlife is abundant with eagles, sea-lions, seals, sea life, deer, wide variety of birds, lots of owls, no beavers or squirrels, just mink and possum.
Our home is on a forested private 1/2acre corner lot and a dead end. Only a short walk to the beach and Central road. The mainstay room and upstairs. Beside it is the kids' room (Kids' Court) and downstairs is the room with a view if you want to view and book those as well. We have two bathrooms. Upstairs is literally a bathroom, with only a sink and a large claw-foot tub surrounded by mosaics, driftwood, a large sky light above the tub. Relax, light candles and stare up at the stars. Downstairs is a flush toilet, composting toilet, a urinal and a shower. Our home is an open concept kitchen and living room with three entrances. Everything you might want will be there, including lots of board games, a trapeze, landline and internet. We don’t have a dishwasher, but pretty much everything else, including a juicer, large dehydrator, a microwave, stand up popcorn maker, large freezer and much more. We live on a dead end with no neighbours usually, so you can party it up, or enjoy the peace and quiet. Outside you will find a beautiful garden, lots of flowers, fruit trees, a firepit, BBQ, a tree-fort, a trampoline and three outside cats. A great place for kids of all ages is waiting to provide you with lasting holiday memories. For more photos go to: flicker.com/photos/hornbyhouse
The island is surrounded by at least 11 beautiful beaches, each one having a different charm. We are just up the road from Sandpiper beach , close to the main road and the trail network. Hornby is a forested island with only about 900 year round residents, most of whom are artist of some sort. Getting around is very easy via trails, roads and rides from locals. There is a gas bar, a COOP with a hardware store and several small shops out front. We also have a marina with a store that sells anything you might want plus Pizza and Cappuccinos. At the ferry landing is a bar/restaurant with it's own dock. The best in my opinion, is to pack a picnic and go to the beach, Helliwell park, or just behind the house in the forest. On the island you can rent bikes, kayaks and paddle boards. You can go on fishing tours, go diving, share your yoga practice with many teachers in a variety of settings and just tour around and meet the artisans and interesting Hornby folk. We also have a fire department, a medical response team , a medical clinic and a doctor on call at all times.
  • Staying with Shakti was absolutely amazing!!! She is such a gracious host and her pet cats and goose are so sweet. She knows a lot about the island as well as tips and tricks on what to do. Her home is very lovely with whimsical decor as well as 3 kinds of toilets! We cannot wait to come back and hang out with her as well as her pets! I'd give 10000 stars if I could! Thank you for everything.

  • Shakti is a warm, wonderful host and her home is a gorgeous oasis full of creativity and unique details. The house has all that you could need, a beautiful beach is within walking distance, and staying at this home really added a special touch to my stay on Hornby!

  • Tranquil, private, cozy, well located, super chill and relaxing place in the heart of Hornby. I’d highly recommend this room. Had access to the entire house which was nice. The (literal) bathroom upstairs is a funky space where you can lay back, light some candles and incense and just relax. Nice big deck was great as well.

  • Lovely hosts, and great little cabin with all of the amenities. All of us (including our furry family member) enjoyed our stay. Bowser itself is a nice quiet place to relax, and within easy reach of many mid-island locations (Qualicum, Coombs, Horne Lake Caves etc.), and there's even a local beach within short walking distance (though down a steep road).

    Edward2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is really a paradise! The house is way more beautyful and cozy than the photos could show. The garden is beautifully decorated with the hospitality of Leah is grandiose. Thank you for the nice days! I can only recommend this accommodation. We were there with 4 people and it was good. Everything is lovingly furnished with an eye for details. Leah and her husband are super nice and very willing to integrate and give tips on what to do where. The equipment is great. For example, there is a much better barbecue there than we have at home ;-) Have fun and great days there for all who book after us!

  • Bowser island is a little treasure, but what is a real treasure is this place and its hosts! When we first arrive, we were received by Leah with a big and warm hug that made us feel automatically at home. The whole place is incredible, you can spend the whole time discovering the little details around the property and enjoy the great energy the place has, while getting a visit from an ocasional deer or rabbit. The cabin was sparkly clean, organized and full of amenities for us to start! Little paradise has great option to hang out and enjoy the outdoors by the fire. Plus they have 2 amazing dogs, Ace and Cujo which are completely friendly and will definitely light up your day! My friends and I were really impressed with everything, all details and care. I strongly recommend them and can’t wait to be back!

For those who love to cook, the kitchen is equipped and has lots of counter space. The washroom has a large walk-in shower. It also has a washer and dryer. We have a "smart tv" for those nights you want to unwind. We've moved away from regular cable and instead provide Netflix, SkyNews, tubi, Roku with hundreds of movies, tv shows and documentaries on demand.
  • Great location! It’s close to the beach as well as to the nearby restaurant. They have tons of games at their place to keep you occupied on a rainy day! We loved their big outdoor deck, that’s where we spent a lot of our time. It was a good amount of room inside for two couples and our baby. And lots of room in the driveway for our cars! The hosts were so friendly and so quick to respond when I had a question or just to update them on how it was going. I definitely recommend staying here :-)

  • The Outlook is a wonderfully quiet home-away-from-home off the beaten track. The beds are comfortable and the views and sounds of the ocean from the deck would be wonderful all year round. We stayed in winter, when the windstorms howled but the woodstove crackled and kept us warm. The eagles came every morning to the trees between us and the pounding ocean waves. Alex and Gail have a great "take some leave some" policy with their kitchen stores. Everything you need to prepare your own meals is there - plus the pantry of spices, teas, coffee, condiments. It's a short stroll down to the Deep Bay marina, and a lovely walk down the point. Nearby Bowser stores have the basics for groceries and liquour - but best to load up in Parksville or Courtenay on the way in if you're looking for specific groceries. The neighbours are quiet but friendly, and this is definitely a place for those looking to get away from it all. We stayed for 3 nights. The dishwasher was a plus, and the laundry would be excellent were we travelling with little ones.

  • Our family of 4 (2 boys age 11 and 14) loved our stay at the Outlook. The views are amazing and with the log fire, it was the perfect place to relax. Deep Bay is very quiet in winter but it was a good place to explore the beauty of Vancouver Island. Highly recommended.

    Carrie2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • It is a great place if you want to be right in Deep Bay.

    Benita2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I loved our stay at the Outlook! It was really cute, clean and had beautiful views of the water. Short jaunt down to the Deep Bay marina, which was beautiful too! Communication with the hosts was super easy and they were great! I’d definitely come back again.

    Brennan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a total gem. The whole space is well maintained and clean. The view is incredible too. Very cosy indeed with the log burner. The wildlife was fun to watch too. The Ship and Shore pub on the dick does excellent food but is closed between October and March. Lovely lovely place

  • We had a great time here. Big parking lot, enough space inside, kitchen very well equipped and the amazing terrace - we have spent nice sunny mornings there....

  • Perfect place to unwind from the city! Garden suite with alpaca, goats and a friendly dog as your new friends. Lovely hosts and great space. Thank you.

  • Julie and Ian’s place is absolutely wonderful. Lovely large suite, clean, comfortable with everything you need PLUS fresh eggs for sale!! Meeting the animals was such a fabulous treat - I wish we could have stayed longer (ie; forever!). ❤️

    Kathy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the farm. It was a very large space with a well-equipped kitchen and coffee for the mornings. We had a wonderful time feeding the alpacas one morning!

    Mark2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing setting in a fabulous location. One of our most enjoyable AirBnB stay. Looking forward to returning. Highly recommended!

    Philippe2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • We have a wonderful 4 night stay. The farm itself is small and free to roam - a complete escape from the daily grind, but only a 10 minute walk to Goats On The Roof. Ian and Julie were wonderful, helpful hosts - even so far as letting us feed the alpacas. Our dog was welcome which was a big plus. The accommodation is very comfortable and super clean with a good BBQ and firebowl on the outdoor patio. It's basic but homely and perfect for a short getaway.

    Bryan2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Friendly hosts, cozy comfortable space, and convenient location for local hikes. Definitely recommend!

    Susannah2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • The best stay we have had at an Airbnb. Our only regret is we couldn't stay longer. Incredible hospitality and a remarkably beautiful home. Even more charming that the photos would lead you to believe and the hosts are beyond kind.

  • Probably the most peaceful place I have ever stayed at, yet anything we wanted/needed was within a few minutes walk or a short drive.

    Wayne2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Bev’s place is set in a fantastic & beautiful location. Her accommodation was spotlessly clean & felt very homely. Bev was very kind and welcoming.

  • Staying at Oceanview Haven was best decision we made. Felt like home from start till end. I was able to sit in backyard with my tea and birdwatching. Saw bald eagle, blue heron and hummingbirds. It was so peaceful to watch ocean and sunrise and sunset. We love to go down rustic pathway to ocean for walk and explore shoreline. Definitely will return back!

    Nyla2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Large 2 bedroom suite with good amenities in a fantastic location. Large new state of the art tv. Good wifi connection. Barbeque, full sized fridge, no stove but the 2 burner hotplate, toaster oven and George Foreman grill are more than adequate. Very well stocked kitchen with pots, pans, glassware, dishes, utensils, aluminum foil, ziploc bags, etc. Home is located across from Denman Island with a great view of the Chrome Island Lighthouse. We had full use of the backyard and enjoyed having coffee on our private patio overlooking the ocean where we saw deer, bald eagles, herons and many other birds. Steep, wooden stairways lead to the private rocky beach which is a nice spot. We heard that Hornby Island has sandy beaches and is a worthwhile trip over on the nearby Buckley Bay ferry. Some highlights in the area were Spider Lake Beach (good place to swim and kayak), Little Qualicum Falls, Miracle Beach (45 minute drive) on the way to Campbell River, sand sculptures at Parksville, Island Falls brand ice cream. We recommend a stay at Bev’s Oceanside Haven vacation suite.

  • Roisin was such an incredible host. She made us fabulous breakfasts each morning that were tailored to our dietary needs and even provided me a recipe for one of the amazing dishes. "The Cottage" had everything we could have asked for in a private house and was very tastefully decorated. The place was well stocked with all sorts of goodies including locally made teas, coffee, cream, milk, condiments, spices and more. The kitchen had everything you need to cook pretty much anything you could imagine. Her place was warm and welcoming. The perfect peaceful spot to retreat to after a long day of exploring magical Denman Island. There was both Netflix and a wide selection of dvds. Roisin also provided a great deal of local knowledge about places to check out, where we could eat locally and even the ferry schedule for our departure. We will definitely return to stay with her and will be recommending her to all of our friends and family!

  • Amazing place. Highly recommended!!

    Kathy2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here. The beach front location was just what we wanted, we watched birds and sea lions swim by from the beach but also through the windows in the living room. The house was beautiful and really well decorated with antiques. It was roomy and spacious and spotlessly clean too. Although we didn't meet the host in person, we were in regular contact via email. Communication was very prompt and helpful and she let us know she was just next door if we needed her which was thoughtful. Also, we stayed there with our baby and it was so nice to have the playpen/crib, high chair and booster seat available so we didn't have to pack all those things ourselves. Would definitely stay here again!
