Places to stay in Baring
Whispering Waters is a cozy chalet style cabin with authentic cabin decor on Skykomish River in a small rural community just off Cascade Loop Highway in the spectacularly scenic Cascade Mountains 60 miles NE of Seattle. The cabin has lots of romantic ambiance with a hot tub, seasonal gas river rock fireplace, loft king bed with river view, and balcony overlooking moss-draped trees. The cabin is close to great outdoor recreation: hiking, kayaking, skiing, rock climbing, biking, photography.
Whispering Waters is a 600 sq ft woodsy cabin with lots of romantic ambiance. There is a king bed in the loft, as well as a queen bedroom downstairs if you don't want to climb stairs or for the third person. NOTE: There is a $25 cleaning fee if both two beds are used when there are only two people. Maximum occupancy is two people. Open floor plan has kitchen, dining, and sitting areas on the river side of the cabin. A small kitchen is equipped with most everything you need for cooking, and there usually are some pantry items. The sitting area has a seasonal propane fireplace, satellite TV, DVD and Netflix. Bath with small shower. The year-round covered hot tub is just a few feet from the front door with river and mountain view. A fire pit right next to the river bank has a great mountain view. Be sure to bring fire wood so you can enjoy an aromatic crackling outdoors fire. Note: burn ban enforced when fire danger is high (common late summer), or there is poor air quality (latter not common). In the summer there are outdoor dining table and chairs, in addition to horseshoes. Charcoal grill is year-round-bring briquettes if you want to grill. Charcoal chimney and paper provided so no need for lighter fluid. Easy access to the river via rocks stairs and short path. Whispering Waters cabin is on a 10 ft high bank about 25 ft from the river. There is a rocky beach when the river level is down, most of the year. River will be higher in spring when the mountain snow is melting, and during heavy rain. The cabin is well cleaned and maintained by the owner. Currently, there is a 1-3 day spacing between all reservations to allow for deep cleaning and airing out. Linens are washed and dried on extra hot/sanitation setting. All commonly touched surfaced are disinfected multi times. Please don't come to the cabin if you have a fever or cough. Please let me know if you have questions about this.
Whispering Waters is in the unincorporated rural town of Baring Washington, 60 miles northeast of Seattle, 60 miles west of the Bavarian themed town of Leavenworth, and 23 miles west of Stevens Pass ski area, just off Hwy 2. The cabin is in a semi-private location with cabins across the river and a quiet, full time residence next door. There are no structures immediately on the other two sides with empty lots, fencing, and landscaping to provide privacy. This is a great place for scenic outdoor photography. The closest restaurants are in Skykomish 9 miles east; the closest grocery store is in Gold Bar 15 miles west. Gold Bar also has four restaurants and three coffee stands. The closest hike is a 5 minute drive; several others 10-15 mins away, and many many more if you go a little further. There is also a pleasant walk across the historic suspension bridge, about 1.5 mile round trip to the end of Index Creek Rd. The area is surrounded by the central-north Cascade Mountains. The cabin's elevation is 775 ft, on the west side of the mountains. You don't drive over Stevens Pass to get to Whispering Waters when coming from the Puget Sound area, but it is easy to get to higher elevations for snow activities if that's what you're looking for. WADOT maintains Hwy 2 well. There will be snow at the cabin when the snow level is approximately 1000 ft. or below.
  • Beautiful and serene. This cabin was well equipped for a cozy getaway. Thanks for having us!

  • Janet's space was incredibly cozy and romantic, just as advertised. The space and location are majestic in themselves, and the hosts added to the magic. Janet's communication leading up to our stay was quite thorough and timely. She made sure we had all the information we could possibly need to make our travel and stay smooth and easy. During our stay, we were snowed in and without power, yet the space remained quite cozy with a generator for heat. Janet went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable during the power outage. She provided us with a Yeti cooler for our food, battery powered candles and lanterns, and she even fed our generator at 6:30am. She stopped by daily to check in, as we did not have telephone or internet during our stay. Last but definitely not least, when we discovered we were snowed into the driveway after dark on our departure day, Janet and Brad came to our rescue and helped us dig our way out during the storm. I'd give the space and the hosts 10 stars if I could!

  • What a fantastically quaint little cabin. The owners have really gone out of their way to make this place feel like a true getaway down to the cutesy cabin decorations, custom kitchenware, lighting and cleanliness. Its exceptionally easy to have a good time here.

  • Do you want to sit in a hot tub and see both a gorgeous river as well as majestic mountains, then come inside afterwards and sit by the fireplace? This might be the spot for you.

    Laura2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a dream come true! The pictures, as amazing as they are, don’t do this place justice because it’s even more beautiful in person. Janet is very communicative and helpful, she’s leaves you with instructions on how to use everything in the cabin so you’re not standing there trying to guess how to use it. It’s the perfect little getaway when you want to unwind and relax. Definitely will make this place a regular destination! Thanks again, we’ll be back!

    Stephanie2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy cabin is perfect. Great views of the river. If you want a getaway weekend this is the place. The hot tub is hidden away for your privacy. This place has everything you need and more for a romantic getaway.

  • There are many Airbnb rentals but this one anticipates so many needs and makes it very hard for you to leave. So many thoughtful touches and info. Favorite parts were cooking and grilling and making smores. Thanks Janet!

  • Beautiful and unique cabin in a beautiful place. Well stocked and clean. I will be renting again!

    Nikolai2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is so cute and cozy! It feels extremely private - we didn't see or hear another person the whole weekend, even though it's in a little neighborhood. The wood stove does a great job of keeping the house toasty warm and the kitchen is functional and clean. We're already planning another getaway here!

    Marcel2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great cozy space! The furniture and shower could definitely use some updating, but it was a comfortable space. The view that we woke up to was worth every penny!! So gorgeous and there was plenty of solitude.

  • We are from Bangkok and this place qas just unreal. Forest-bathing is exactly what we needed. We felt like home and added an extra night! The lighting in the living room and upstairs aren't enough. The rest was perfect. It was like a dream <3

A perfectly private mountain retreat with Mountain View’s. Our home was the original home in Riverwood development. We are surrounded by mature trees and landscaping. The grounds are well defined. River access is just a short walk down the road.Roads are plowed in the winter months as needed. The cabin has auxiliary power in the event of an outage, and electric heat in addition to the fire place. Our water system is professionally maintained and may be the best tasting tap water on the planet.
  • Excellent! The photos are accurate, it was great.

    Samuel2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute place, absolutely adorable! It feels like you are staying in a fairy tale, that is how cute this place is. Check-in was super easy and the place is just as described. There is no wifi so you will be disconnected from the world (which I assume is the goal). They have DVD if you want to watch some movies. We had a stove with us but there are things to cook with there as well. Approximately 30 min to Stevens Pass. I would definitely stay there again.

    Sheila2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and a wonderful little cabin. Prompt communication and an easy checkin process - we had a wonderful stay for our ski trip and would definitely recommend Heather and Tony's place!

    Weiling2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Heather and Tony’s place is a great little place to warm your bones after a long day in the cold mountains. Nice and clean.

    Ywpheng2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is the cutest cottage in the PNW! Highly recommend. Heather was a wonderful host and the cottage was the perfect getaway for a ski weekend in Steven’s Pass. We will be back!

    Ayla2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable cottage with easy access to outdoor activities

    Allison2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Heather & Tony’s. The cabin had everything we needed. The power went out while we were there and Heather & Tony were quick to fire up the generator, and make sure we were sorted. Losing the power and enjoying the wood fire made our stay even more unplugged and enjoyable. One note: if you are severely allergic to pets, just remember that others may have had their pets in the cabin. It wasn’t too bothersome, you just may want to have some Benadryl on hand!

    Emily2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great pet friendly option very close to Stevens pass ski area, although it rained most of our stay you could tell the neighborhood was beautiful! The cabin itself had everything needed for a comfortable stay and I would definitely stay here again.

Maggies Love shack lives up to it name. Weather relaxing in the hot tub under the stars or enjoying a evening warming by the fire pit. This place was remodeled completely from top to bottom. We have made this place the complete cabin getaway for the city person. It has dimmers on all lights to set the mood; full kitchen with granite counter tops and custom cabinets; hardwood floors threw out the cabin with wool rugs to keep you cozy; new couch with dual recliners and a bottle of Champagne.
This cabin was completely done over in 2008...from every door to light switch. The kitchen has granite countertops with custom cabinets with fully stocked kitchen. We have 2 bedrooms with one queen and one full size plush beds and down comforters with lots of pillows and built in lighting with dimmers. We just replaced the mattresses in late 2016. We set the cabin up for you on arrival with a bottle of champagne and keep sake logo glasses. We even have postcards for you to send out to your friends to share your holiday. We are in a small neighborhood of cabins and the only cabin on our side of the street. Everyone is very friendly and may wave a hello to you. Gold Bar has most supplies you would need. You can even order a pizza for delivery from Gold Bar just 12 miles away for only $5 more. I usually stop at the local Mexican Restaurant for dinner. With Stevens Pass only 23 miles away we are a popular spot for the ski season and well as local hikes in the area. ******FULL DISCLOSURE: Our cabin community is just off highway 2 (as are most of the communities in the area) and near the train. You can see from our reviews that most guests find our place quiet and only a couple have complained about the highway noise. We just want to point this out for full disclosure :-) For the occasional power outage we even supply a generator. We are one of the few cabins to offer generator for your use. My property manager is close by and will help start if you reach out to him. We do recommend bringing firewood for outside fire pit. ——-new upgraded gas fireplace inside for heat and romantic setting. To turn on use remote on wall behind couch. Please do not change any settings on the fireplace itself. We are needing to add extra fees if needing to have heat above 74. Inquire if needed. Come and see why many honeymooners come to our cabin. See you soon! ****new hot tub with 2x’s as many jets 11/2/18 EXTRA GUESTS: If you plan to have extra guests other than what you've indicated, please update your reservation prior to checking in. Extra guests are $23 per person, however, undisclosed guests are $100 each per night if our caretaker reports back. PETS: We do charge a $50 pet fee per stay per pup with a 2 dog limit. The neighborhood caretaker keeps an eye on pets for us. Undisclosed pets are $100 and will be deducted from your deposit, so please be honest. Please no pets on furniture or beds unless you bring a blanket from home to cover ( please don’t use our bedding) 3-DAY HOLIDAY WEEKENDS: 3-day weekends have a 3-day minimum requirement and are subject to higher rates. Please inquire for holiday rates prior to making your reservation. Thank you. You must also acknowledge Potential for noise - We are next to the highway
We have the only single lane suspension bridge just a short walk away. You can get to the river from here. This property is not on the river. It is just off hwy 2 just 2 blocks. For full disclosure you can hear the traffic when heavy and trains. Recent road work on highway 90 has increased traffic in our area this summer. We do loose power in our remote area and offer generator to do lights and tv. We are unable to refund due to power outage.
  • Maggie's Love Shack is a great place to escape from the city and be closer to the nature. Great location near several hikes and the hot tub is amazing! Colleen is great host and went the extra mile to make us and our dogs feel at home.

    Marcus2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is super cute! The hot tub was super clutch. They’ve got everything you’ll need, even a bottle of Champaign and cups for the hot tub you can keep! Communication was quick and easy, knowing that Charlie was always close by took all the stress out. Keep in mind that you will have to bring your own trash out! (Super convenient though, <10 min away)

    Maggie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is perfect for a quick getaway. Lovely and easy to use indoor fireplace kept us warm in the washington winter. We hiked heybrook lookout one afternoon which is about a 15 minute drive from the cabin. It's a cozy and inviting spot to decompress and enjoy cabin life even if it's a little too close to the main road. The hot tub out back is a perfect way to unwind after a hike or to warm yourself up after dark. Colleen was incredibly responsive and communicative throughout our visit.

    Hussain2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible place to stay with a super hospitable host. We got a call from the host the first night we were there to make sure everything was okay. This cabin was so cozy and homey. Definitely want to go back again!!

    Kristina2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place! Very calming and the hot tub was very relaxing! Colleen brought a toy for our dog and he loved it!

    Shayla2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Colleen is a wonderful host. We had a great stay over Christmas — we walked in and were delighted to see a Christmas tree, fire, and a bottle of Prosecco. Treats were delivered Christmas morning including a toy for our dog. Great communication before and during our stay without being intrusive. Loved the hot tub in the chilly evenings.

    Joan2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • My first Airbnb experience. I had a great stay in this beautiful little cabin. Relaxing in the spa after going hiking around felt amazing. Colleen had just install a Christmas tree and it helped give the place a magic ambiance approaching the holidays. Colleen was quick to respond when I had questions and Charlie was a great help when our car battery went down. The bedrooms are very small though and only fit the bed (but very comfy bed), so we had to use the second bedroom as a walk-in for our luggages. I totally recommend the place for a romantic getaway for 2.

    Annie2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • An extremely cozy experience. It was raining for a while, so we spent the day in the cabin with the fire. Experienced a very clean hot tub when the rain stopped for a while. Bed was an above-average comfy and Colleen even dropped off a toy for our pup. We had an amazing time and would come back again!

River's Edge radiates a cabin feel, yet has all the necessities of home. Rustic decor including clocks, radios & snow gear reminds you that time almost stands still here. The river, just off the deck, drowns out any distractions from your relaxation. Der Baring Store is a walk down the road for most necessities. Gold Bar and Skykomish are each about 10 min away with more food options. Close proximity to Stevens Pass for skiing, mtn biking & hiking. CHECK GUIDEBOOK! The link is above map below.
The "neighborhood" has very low traffic and property is mostly very-private. Access to the river allows for fishing and splashing around during certain times of the year.
This is a quiet neighborhood w/ very only a few houses. Outside the neighborhood is where all the magic happens. Check the Guidebook below for Must See, Do & Eat's. If you get rained out, chill my homey brethren. River's Edge has your back with that 24/7 lazy-day-feels setup. Translation: It's Comfortable AF.
  • This is such a great place to stay -- roomy, with a beautiful view and a fire pit. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay in one of the best places

    Chenault2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Comfortable and cozy. Warms up quickly with the gas fireplace, wich is nice after a day on the mountain!

    Lb2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Brendan’s house was great. The location right on the river was beautiful. The house warmed up quickly when needed with the heating + fireplace.

    Luca2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sometimes a place posted on Airbnb does not live up to the photos shown online. Brendan’s cabin is every bit as beautiful as shown, and more. An absolutely perfect spot on the river, which is RIGHT THERE out the back doors! We headed over to Stevens to ski one day, and it was convenient— just under 30 minutes. Highly recommend this place — spectacular setting, really nice accommodations, well equipped and all made very easy by Brendan.

    Michael2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay on the river! The host was incredibly prompt and it was a perfect experience.

    Tyler2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my family had a magical Christmas at Brendans place. Brendan was an excellent host, decorating the lodge immaculately for our visit. The lodge itself had everything you could think of making our stay very comfortable and the river at the edge of the property is simply breathtaking. Less than 30 minutes to the ski fields made for an easy day of skiing and the comfort of the lodge made for a very relaxing stay.

    Tyler2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Brendan's place is in a beautiful setting, overlooking the river. The kitchen had everything we could wish for and more, and we had a lovely fire in the outdoor fire ring. We did hear the train at night a couple times, so if there are light sleepers, bring earplugs. Otherwise, we couldn't have asked for better place to spend a rejuvenating friend weekend!

    Celina2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Brendan was an excellent host! He had local suggestions, the cabin was very clean and he was so helpful and responsive when we reached out to him. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway this is a great place to start!

  • Very peaceful, quiet place to go and unwind. Well appointed and comfortable.

  • The house is really good. It’s a very beautiful place. You can see a lot of stars at night. If you want to have a quiet place to relax, this house is a good choice.

  • Tom and Kathryn's place in beautiful Baring, WA is hands down one of our favorite Airbnbs we've stayed in. It's beyond clean, like most have mentioned, and they've provided everything you could ever need and more. Rain coats, coolers, alllllll the kitchen utensils, toiletries – it's so well stocked. The location is great as well, just 15 minutes from a grocery store and food, and an hour to two hour drive from skiing, hiking, or the city. On top of all that, it's nestled right up against a beautiful river which really just made the experience even better. We loved it so much it'll definitely be our go-to anytime we head back to Washington!

    Courtney2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was exactly what I needed for a relaxing break from the city. Less than a 90-minute drive from Seattle, it was easy to find, and far enough off Highway 2 to avoid car noise. It was very cozy, with everything my dog and I needed for a riverside retreat. Lots of practical amenities were on-hand, everything from coffee and tea to charging cables. Would absolutely recommend you stay here!

    Joshua2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is an absolute dream. Tom and Kathryn have thought of everything to help you feel right at home as soon as you step in. The kitchen is perfectly stocked making it easy to cook at your meals right there. They’ve included coffee (both Keurig and drip depending on what you prefer) as well as numerous options for tea (both caffeinated and non). They’re very dog friendly too which our dog much appreciated :) They have water/food bowls in case you forgot, a leash and I think I even saw kibble! There is no WiFi as noted in the description but this just adds to the charm - I found it helped us relax and unwind, just what we needed. Cell service works just fine if you need it. They also have a wide variety of DVDs and a radio/Bluetooth speaker for music, podcasts, etc. They have shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower as well as extra toiletries in case you forgot something. They truly have thought of everything! Although there are technically neighbors nearby, you cannot hear or see them so it feels quite secluded and you can’t be the beautiful location right on the river. There is plenty of hiking trails nearby but it rained most of the time we were there and unfortunately a lot of trailheads were blocked due to downed trees - such is the reality of hiking in PNW in February! Regardless of this, we loved every minute of our stay and wished we could have stayed days longer. We can’t wait to come back one day. Thank you Tom and Kathryn for sharing this amazing place with us!

    Caroline2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Tom and Kathryn’s sweet little cabin is amazing! It has well thought amenities and a gorgeous riverfront setting. A very short drive to Stevens Pass. We will definitely be back!

    Elias2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We are returning guests to this location and really enjoy it here. Hosts have great communication!

    Amy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a dream. We got a ton of use out of the kitchen, and loved being able to see and walk down to the water. It was super cozy and quiet but still conveniently located near trails and Leavenworth. Stay here for a relaxing weekend, or longer to get all of the use out of the river side area.

  • This little cabin is such a gem! We have stayed at many, many cabins in the area and this cabin is one of our favorites. Linda was quick to respond and all the little extras in the cabin was a great surprise. The view is breathtaking and you can tell the owners take pride in the cabin. So clean. Thank you for sharing this cabin.

  • This place is Amazing!! We really fell in love with the view and location. The place is nicer than the pictures show!! Plus it is really clean. We cooked all of or meal in and were able to find all cooking utensils that we needed. Also the place is well heated for winter use. It was easy to find and check in. The location is perfect for someone wanting to explore the area and hike etc. Close to hiking in Baring, Wallace State park, Index, Leavensworth and Stevens pass. And the host is so kind! I highly recommend this AirBnb.

  • This cabin was so beautiful and cozy, with amazing views. Lots of natural light and the perfect place to relax. We loved using the fireplace while relaxing, and enjoyed the TV and DVDs. Linda was great at communicating and quick to respond. One small comment is that there are no curtains anywhere except the bedroom, so at night it felt like a bit of a fishbowl. We mostly would have liked some curtains or blinds over the window facing the road. But during the day it made it nice and bright! :) Otherwise it was a perfect experience and we absolutely loved it!

  • Great stay at a great cabin. We were in the area to ski at Stevens Pass for a week and this cabin fit the bill perfectly. We were conveniently located near the ski resort yet still in a quiet cabin. The cabin is very nice, clean, and has all the amenities of home. I would highly recommend staying here and we most certainly be back next year.

    Will2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The view is unbeatable! The house had everything we were looking for and any question was answered in their thoughtful guest guide. Linda was very responsive and the short drive to Stevens Pass was very convenient. It was the perfect getaway weekend.

  • Wasn't able to make it to Linda's cabin due to bad weather and road closures, she was understanding and organised a refund straight away. Thank you!

This charming fairy tale A-Frame is a great spot for a getaway, a ski trip to Stevens Pass, or stopover on the way to Leavenworth. Enjoy a cozy fire and a soak in the bathtub. The 2-bedroom house is a short walk from community river access and near innumerable outdoor recreation activities. Upstairs has one bedroom with a queen sized bed and a loft room with two twin beds. The downstairs living room is spacious with a comfortable couch, woodstove, and room for additional floor mattresses.
The space is comfy and cozy - a great place to relax after a day of adventuring. The kitchen is spacious and fully stocked with cooking supplies. There is a woodstove and wood provided. The windows boast mountain views and the property is yours to explore.
My home is located in a friendly neighborhood between highway 2 and the Skykomish River. There is a community river path with beach access a short walk from the front door.
  • What a wonderful place to stay and wonderful location !

    RAchel2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Really cozy stay! My boyfriend had to be extra careful going up the spiral staircase since he’s 6 foot but it just added to the cabin experience!

    Gaby2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The location is absolutely stunning and the house is beautiful! Meredith is very helpful and responsive and we will be staying here again!

    Roxanna2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent space, beautiful area, and a very helpful host. I have no complaints about our stay whatsoever, it was a stellar time.

    Brandon2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely house! Waking up with a drizzle and a mountain view was perfect. We used this as a base camp for skiing at Stevens Pass, but it would also be perfect for a climbing or other trip in the Skykomish Valley. Meredith was a great host. Very communicative. Check in and out was a breeze! Would recommend and stay there again.

    Shane2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a spectacular time at this gem of a mountain cabin near Stevens Pass. The A-frame is such a warm, cozy and inviting place right from the moment you drive up into the cute little entrance amongst the trees. Once inside it feels loved and lived-in in all the right ways. With the perfect collection of movies, books and games for us, as well as a comfy living room in which to enjoy all of them, we couldn’t have been happier. This was an exceptional place to land after a day of skiing. We slept well in the top of the A, and appreciated there were extra pillows and bedding if needed. There were clear instructions in the house so we could use the fireplace and everything successfully, so we stayed toasty warm. What fun! This is a spot we hope to visit again someday. Meredith was a great and generous host, communicated everything we needed to know, was easy to reach and very friendly. She’s a “Super Host” in my book for sure! Enjoy!

  • Meredith’s place is so cozy and welcoming. Beautiful location and very easy to get to. We had a great stay!

    Jacqui2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin was great for myself, my husband, and a friend. It was the best value/comfortable accommodation that our budget would allow us to be for a weekend snowboarding at Stevens pass. It’s about a 30 minute drive to the lifts, not bad! The location is about 10-20 minute drive to the nearest general store or restaurant, it’s very easy to get to by car but you should come prepared with your own food and drinks so you don’t have to drive on hwy-2 in the dark. Somehow I missed all the reviews about there being no WiFi, which isn’t the end of the world because the cell service is okay and they have a signal booster. Enough games and dvds that we managed two nights no problem! Nice sized yard my dog loved running around in a very quite neighborhood with river access a short walk away. PS. The queen bed is memory foam!! Such a comfy surprise. Meredith was super responsive and even helped me out after I forgot something after check out which was awesome. Would HIGHLY recommend this place and would love to stay again.

  • Tre’s place is great for a natural getaway, relaxation and unwinding. The house has everything you need in addition to a propane grill and Wood-stove. Highly recommend his place

    Junrun2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect. Super cozy, loved the wood stove, surround sound an added bonus for a late night movie. All the amenities you could want for a weekend in the mountains. Loved it!

    Victoria2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is just as pictured - very cozy. Well supplied with kitchen needs; furnishings were just right - not fussy, but cozy and nice. The 2 loft bedrooms were very inviting and beds were super comfortable. The cabin is located in a little mountain community that felt very safe and watched over by neighbors, but very private as well. It is in the most beautiful section of Hwy 2; so much hiking and beauty surrounding this location. We had a little trouble with the lockbox and the response to our message was near-instantaneous. The owners were very accessible. We would definitely like to come back and spend a few days instead of just overnight. Thanks so much!

    Susan2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • My Dad and I found Tre's cabin to be a great place to stay while hiking in the area. The cabin is close to numerous trails, the bedrooms are comfortable with skylights that let in extra light, and the wood stove makes the whole place warm and cozy. We enjoyed our stay, and hope to return soon.

    Michael2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was in a beautiful place surrounded by beautiful hikes! Definitely awesome for a little staycation in Washington.

    Ashlie2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay. Serenity at its best. We were in the middle of a jungle. Definitely one more time place.

    Prashanth2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice, warm and cozy space. Great location and lots of tips for things to do. The caretaker was very helpful also. I would book again.

  • Tre’s house was absolutely wonderful. The wood paneling and house plants gave it a very nice feel and it was a very cozy place to stay. Super clean as well! It’s also a great location, super close to the river as well as highway 2 (without being too close). You get a great view of the stars at night. Would definitely stay here again!

Cascade Jewel, w/ a sweeping view of Mt Baring, sits on the Skykomish Riverbed. A fun, spacious home, restored with repurposed materials to preserve its' mid-century character. A simple (yet adorable!) kitchen, wood stove, large covered porch, & outdoor firepit, make it an authentic cabin experience. Enjoy full access to the onsite vintage cottage, configured for an art studio, yoga loft, infrared sauna, & fully stocked woodshed. Lots of space to relax & rejuvenate! One pet welcome for $35.
Cascade Jewel faces a rock island and the water level adjacent to the yard varies. During Spring run-off and heavy rains, the river rapids run swift. During Summer and sometimes in Winter, the water calms down to a creek, shallow pool, or it may dry up completely. So from the main floor of the house, sometimes the river view is only ‘peek a boo.’ Regardless of the season, there is always access to the crystal clear waters of the Skykomish. And the water tumbling over the rocks can always be heard. It's a delightfully soothing sound when falling asleep on the comfy beds. There are several sources of heat in the house, but the wood stove needs to be used as the main source of heat. Plenty of firewood is provided. The home is full of ambience!
Cascade Jewel sits on a private road among a few other cabins. It's very quiet and there is plenty of privacy. You don't need to drive too far away from Highway 2. It's the perfect combo of feeling 'away from it all,' but not being stuck way out in the wilderness. Our neighbors are there to enjoy the solitude of nature; please respect their space.
  • Want a relaxing getaway in a cozy cottage? This place was perfect for us who were looking to escape for a little while. The views are amazing and everything in the home makes you feel warm inside. Sauna was very cool and was excellent after our hike. Virginia is very responsive and have us tons of tips for staying in the area including the hike to Barclay Lake we went on! Will definitely look to stay there again.

    Michael2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • excellent location and host. would definitely return. the views and amenities makes this a perfect place to relax.

  • Picturesque rustic cabin. Magnificently appointed. PNW classic!

    Curt E2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Virginia's place was perfection. Excellent communication, easy check in and total privacy. Every room in the house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. She makes it so easy to stay warm by providing loads of good kindling and firewood for the wood stove. Clear instructions were provided for everything from the tv, to the heaters to the sauna. The sights and sounds of the river were the highlight of our stay. We will be back.

    Jamie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Virginia's place! The kitchen and home amenities were perfect for our weekend getaway. Virginia was super fast to respond with a few of my questions, and was an amazing host. I can't recommend this place enough!

    Sarah2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Virginia herself, and the cabin were great! We spent Christmas at this cabin and it was just what we hoped for. The kitchen is old (and adorable) but it worked great for cooking our dinner which included a Turkey! Virginia was accommodating with our dogs as well, and they loved being able to go on walks and easily get around the cabin. I want to note that the cabin is close to neighbors who are on both sides, but it does feel private when you are in the home. We didn’t hear the main road at all and enjoyed hearing the flowing river that is in the backyard. My favorite part was the living room with the fireplace that was packed with plenty of wood for us to use. We would happily recommend this cabin to others.

    Tessa2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This little jewel , by the river is cozy and has everything you could possibly want from a cabin in the woods. It is conveniently located for skiing at Stevens Pass and for many outdoor pursuits, also for inward journeys into art or writing or coming with nature. It fit 5 adults comfortably. Virginia is a terrific host, timely and very responsive. The only negative we had is not enough time!

  • We loved staying at this cabin, it is very peaceful and is in a beautiful location on the river. Easy drive to Stevens pass for skiing too!

    Ashlee2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin was much newer and cleaner than we expected and had lots of little touches that maximized the space. We easily slept 7 people and cooked and ate comfortably. It’s a great location for all your adventures, and waking up to the river right outside the window was lovely :)

    Danielle2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Private, cozy and beautiful. Our family was able to relax, make s’mores, and have fun without any distractions. The view of the river in the morning made it extra special as the sun would come over the mountain. If you’re looking for a place to just get away from the grind, this is an awesome place. It’s not far from Stevens Pass and nestled in the mountains with plenty of nearby trails. We hope to come back in the summer to stay near the river. It was awesome to wake up, step outside into the crisp air with a warm cup of coffee and see so much beautiful fall scenery. We hope to come back in the near term.

    Jeffrey2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and space. It was clean and the check-in was easy. The cleaning fee is a bit high considering they ask you to clean everything before leaving but not a huge deal breaker.

    Karolina2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, as advertised

    Baker2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • They did a great job prepping the space for kiddos - with toys, kids books, and board games set out. It's also a few steps from a little beach which my kiddos adored! There's also this little public walking trail which goes through ours and the neighboring yards, which follows along the river, that we loved traversing.

    Chloe2019-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin on the river. Comfortable beds and nice shower. Kitchen had everything we needed (except a toaster). We enjoyed the wood-burning stove in the main room. Would stay again.

Sky Beach Cabin is a cozy bungalow style cabin only 50 steps from a rocky/sandy half mile long beach along scenic Skykomish River in the Cascade Mountains, 60 miles NE of Seattle. The cabin is reminiscent of rustic beach bungalows; but completely remodeled inside with upscale touches such as a terrific full kitchen , Wi-Fi, TV , stereo, comfortable king bed, and adorable fishing cabin decor. Hot tub on covered deck with river view. There are two fire pits, one is on the beach in the summer.
The bungalow layout is nice when two couples need privacy as the bedrooms are located on opposite ends of the cabin. The open area between the bedrooms is a full nicely laid out kitchen, dining area, and TV area. The main room has a king bed with new comfortable mattress, TV, DVD player, and writing desk with river view. The second bedroom has bunk bed with full on bottom, twin on top. Andre2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing place to stay. The location couldn't have been better, the views of Skykomish River and Baring/Index mountains are splendid and can be seen right outside your window. This place is even beautiful if it's raining (as it was in our case), the only tip for this weather is to have a mid/high rise car or drive very slowly as the roads can get a bit rough, especially if you arrive in the dark. I can't praise the cabin and services provided more. Everything is extra clean (and I have high standards) and equipped with nice touches. Hot tub is awesome. Cabin has everything you'd need (and much more). The back patio is spacious and comfortable, the fire pit is large, and the river is just steps away. You can take a quick hike back to the Index Rd turn on the highway, the views are most incredible. The place is very private, perfect for getaways from busy Seattle. I gotta say, this is one of the best stays I had. Highly recommended.

  • Bradley's place is a great place to get away and enjoy a little peace and quiet! My dog and I had a great time hanging out and just relaxing for a few days. The hot tub was great to just sit, enjoy the sound of the river, and let loose. Plenty of space to explore for my pooch and I. Can't wait to do this again in the Spring time when the weather is a bit warmer. Thanks Brad!

  • The Sky River Cabin is a clean and cozy getaway with a wonderful riverside location. Although most of the ground was still under snow, the sunny views were beautiful and our dog enjoyed playing on the beach. The hot tub was a treat after a hike to nearby Heybrook Ridge. The kitchen was well appointed, we were able to stream Netflix, and the bed is super comfy.

You will be greeted by amazing views of the river and towering mountain peaks from the comfort of the living room and large outdoor spaces. Give us a try and you will be happy you did! :)
Our cabin has two bedrooms and one-bath with an extra sleeping space in the upstairs loft that has two futons for a total of 4 beds (2 queen, 2 full). There is a full kitchen (no dishwasher) and also a large living room with a wood burning fireplace and amazing views of the Skykomish river and the cascade mountains. The house comes equipped with a washer and dryer and you will have all of the towels and linen that you need. This is a VERY private space! The house and yard are secluded and you will be in your own world with few distractions. Outside of the house you will have a wrap around deck high up on the river bank just a few feet from the river itself. The outdoor space comes complete with outdoor furniture, hammocks and a charcoal BBQ. From the deck you will get lost in the views, they will absolutely take your breath away! The community beach is just a 5 minute walk from our house and is a great place to enjoy.
The Riverbank Retreat is in the "Riverwood Park" community of Baring. This is a small community of many vacation rentals and and just a handful of full time residents. The community is clean and relaxed and the roads are all paved. We are truly lucky to be apart of such an excellent community!
  • Great location on the river. We had a very nice stay. The cabin was just right for what we were looking for. Lots of quiet time, playing games, talking, eating, and gazing out at the wonderful river front!

  • Had a lovely stay and beautiful stay at Grant’s cabin a couple days before Christmas. It was a beautiful place to wake up on Christmas morning, and the photos don’t do the views or the overall cuteness of the place justice. Not because they’re bad photos, but because it’s that pretty!

    Aj2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, beautiful scenic view from the patio. The place is kept very clean. There is small attention to details like toiletries, some candy on the dining table, some drinks in the fridge. All this makes it feel very welcoming and warm as soon as you enter the house. I would recommend these hosts and this location and would want to visit this place again some other time in the year as well.

  • This was a great little place for our small family. The cabin was very cozy on the cold days we were there, and I'd definitely consider returning when the weather warms up so that we might enjoy the beautiful outdoors surrounding it more. The hosts were very accommodating, responsive, and thoughtful. Would definitely recommend.

  • Very nice place. Loved the area.

  • Vacasa is a beautiful space, the home has everything you need to get snowed in, or a semi-private escape. I did notice the home infiltrated all of our sinuses due to the air being dry from the fire place; perhaps a humidifier for the home would help? Regardless of that, myself, my family, and my friends will be returning to rent. This is my second time renting this home and I would highly recommend to all guests!

  • If you have yet to stay at this place, I suggest you take a weekend and make your way to Baring, WA.

    Jose2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • ***please read*** There were plenty of spices and such in the cabinets. Lots of utensils. A good space for kids. Tons of board games. Tons of DVDs, and a player. No wifi (just putting that out there, didn’t kill us, and yes the listing says no WiFi.). Right by the river. Hot tub was awesome.

    Dez2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at this cabin. It is a beautiful and peaceful location. The kids enjoyed the pool table. Thank you!

    Liz2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The details of this property are very accurate. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time here. It was a perfect getaway from the city! I'd highly recommend this place.

    Tuyen2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was exactly like in the pictures. We had an amazing time, with excelente views of the river and the mountains. The cabin can be a bit small for 6 persons but we ended up spending most of our time outside. The kitchen is well equipped, and a barbecue grill is available. For our reception we had fresh flowers and fresh parsley, such a nice gesture.

    Marcela2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful riverside space for a gathering of friends. No WiFi and spotty cell signal gave us a chance to disconnect and enjoy each other and the view. Nice kitchen equipment for making meals and a lovely shared space (with whiteboard wall for doodling!) made it a pleasant stay. Thanks!

The cabin is a 400 sq. ft cedar cabin surrounded by about 400 sq ft of decking. A small kitchen, shower, toilet, wood stove, hot tub and river access make it a comfortable spot to put your feet up. Please note our rates are based on a minimum two-night stay - double occupancy. If you have a special need please ask before arriving us and we will endeavor to do our best to suit your circumstance.
Time here changes if you allow yourself to sit with the flow of the Skykomish passing through you. So . . . Unplug ! After spending a few days here we discovered that it truly was as if one “dropped off the face of the earth”. We would be remiss not to mention, this is Sasquatch country. Knock on a tree and see if you can get a knock back.
Just off Hiway 2 close to Index WA. Hiking, rafting, climbing, snow sports in the winter . . . We are IN the beautiful Cascades in a small community of cabin owners.
  • This was our second visit to Saghalie Deh Cho. It is the perfect getaway in the most beautiful setting! The hot tub is amazing, the deck overlooks the river, and the cabin is a perfect size for a couple. There were lots of really sweet touches that made it feel like home and Liam was extra attentive. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! we will be back!

    Taraleen2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Liam’s space is amazing enough that I want to leave 1 star reviews just so scare people away and keep it all for myself. He’s a spectacular, responsive host and his space is literally perfect as a secluded hide away. Do yourself a favor and stay here.

    Cam2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing weekend at Liam's place. Communication was excellent. There were thoughtful touches and all the amenities you could want. Liam was incredibly accommodating and went the extra mile to make our stay perfect. The view from the back deck is amazing with a combination view of the Skykomish River and Mt. Index. I would recommend his place to anyone.

    Jeff2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so special, and exceeded my expectations. The view and ambiance are just spectacular. I highly recommend it for a romantic weekend, or for solo travelers who just want to get away. Liam really goes above and beyond to make the guest feel welcome, and adds plenty of special touches that enhance the experience.

    Jessica2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Liam was a kind and considerate host who went the extra mile to make our stay excellent! He knew we were staying to celebrate my partner's birthday and when we arrived we were delighted to find a small cake and candles! We loved relaxing in front of the fire, watching the birds outside and relaxing in the hot tub - the cabin was so lovely and relaxing we ended up cancelling all of our other plans and only left once to stock up on groceries! I highly recommend this cabin to anybody who is looking to escape and unwind - absolutely perfect!

    Tessa2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time unplugging from our daily lives, and relaxing in the hot tub by the river with views of snow capped mountains - ferns and moss galore! The power even went out one evening during a wild windy storm, but it made our trip even more special. (We were also surprised by how quickly the power company restored services for so many residents. Kudos to them too!) We joke that we can say we lived like the locals with that true cabin experience! And it was just another reason to cuddle up by the wood stove. So if you’re looking for a cabin in Bigfoot Country, don’t pass this one up! We had an incredible time and hope to visit again soon. Oh, and you’ll see some insanely gorgeous views on the road that leads to the cabin. So have your camera ready! Thank you again for being wonderful hosts, Liam and Heidi!

  • A great experience!

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Aimee's cabin. The place was clean and attractive with all the necessary amenities. The view of the river and the surrounding mountains was just what I was looking for.

    Nathan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb is super cozy and offers an amazing view of the river. It’s the perfect place to disconnect from the city, which is exactly what we were looking for. There is a train that goes by every so often, which didn’t bother us at all, but may disturb light sleepers.

    Melanie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Aimee's place made for the perfect home base for a weekend snowboard trip. The cabin is super stylish and homey, and set on a beautiful spot on the river. The kitchen had everything we needed for quick bites as well as cooking, and she is very generous to offer ample amounts of coffee! The cabin is squeaky clean, and Aimee provides you everything you need to clean up after yourself during your stay. These days it is very hard to find a place that allows a dog, so thank you Aimee for providing the perfect cabin for our family trip to Steven's Pass!

    Elijah2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Pros: What a place! We only live 1 hour away but wanted a kid free getaway. The design is so nice in the living room, hot showers, self check-in and the view from the patio is just beautiful! I can't imagine what it looks like in the fall. Grocery store down the street. 1 hour 15 minutes from Leavenworth. The drive to Leavenworth is worth it! Cons: You can hear the train go by. If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs. I consider myself a light sleeper and was fine but it bothered my husband a little. I woke up each morning from the light that came through the windows. The shades are broken so extra light comes through in the AM. I'd stay here again. We've sent a link to this Airbnb to several friends.

  • This is a great place for skiing and snowboarding at Stevens! Sleeps 10 people comfortably and a great common space. Would recommend

    Devin2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay! We had a group of 9 friends staying for a weekend away, and there were plenty of bedrooms and a comfy living room. Due to an unpreventable issue of the wind knocking the power out, we were without power for our trip. We talked with the host and decided to go ahead and stay for the weekend. Sandy was responsive and understanding about the issue. The propane fireplace heated the entire house so we were very cozy despite the snowfall outside. We used the propane grill to cook our meals, and it worked great. The property is right by the river so we walked out there to take in the views of the water and the mountains. We spent most of the weekend chatting, playing games, and playing music. We also hiked the Heybrook Lookout, which is only a 5 minute drive away. Great spot for a relaxing getaway.

    Paige (Or PJ)2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy and Damien's house is beautiful and spacious, right by the river and was the perfect size for our group. It is great having a large common area with separate bedrooms upstairs. Sandy was quick to respond to any questions and the kitchen and both bathrooms were well stocked. Would definitely stay again!

    Amy2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a get away, good access to the pass and beyond. All the bedrooms are upstairs and well outfitted. Kitchen has most everything we needed. Good communication from owners about check in and check out and operating the propane stove etc.

    Andy2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • I brought my family and extended family here for my sons first birthday. The place offered more than what we expected. I got this place for its close proximity to Stevens Pass and Leavenworth. It was even better in person, especially with landscape and river right next to the house and, can’t forget about the hot tub!!! Sandy kept in touch from the beginning of our reservation and up to the day we checked in. She was very thorough and helpful with tips and information about her place and their amenities. My son and his mother had a very memorable experience, especially with this being the first time they saw snow up close. With it being the first day of snowboarding season, I myself and my family had a great time at both the house and mountain. We had plenty of room and with the house having a very homely atmosphere, made for a very unforgettable and relaxing time. Thank you for allowing us this experience and the great memories!

  • We loved staying here! The space itself was perfect for our group. We enjoyed the outside fire pit, the walk down to the river and especially having a large space to relax. The local hikes were also phenomenal - highly recommend Bridal Veil and Wallace Falls.

Great cabin on the River 20 minutes from Stevens Pass. The cabin has a bedroom with a loft room above it. Also a futon bed in the living room. I have it listed as a two bedroom counting the loft above the bedroom as a room. All together three beds (my favorite is the futon in front of the fireplace). The cabin offers a great river front experience close to skiing, hiking, waterfalls and all of the best the cascades have to offer. Located an 1 hr 20 min from Seattle 1 hr 10 min from Leavenworth.
You get the entire cabin and a great place to sit an enjoy the Skykomish River. Owners have a motorhome parked at the cabin and 2 sheds that are not part of the Airbnb.
Close to Stevens Pass, Leavenworth and all the great hiking and waterfalls along HWY2
  • A perfect cabin with a breathtaking view! What a great weekend to get away and unwind and celebrate our anniversary. Dawn and Marks place was well appointed and their communication and hospitality couldn't have been better. We will hopefully be back in the near future.

  • This cozy cabin was such a wonderful place for a weekend getaway. It was stocked with everything you could need in the kitchen, ample space for lounging by the wood burning fireplace, and lots of space in the bedroom for everyone. The views from the cabin are amazing! It’s literally right on the river! Mark and Dawn were very friendly, communicative, easy to reach, and even gave us a heads up to bring boots if possible because it was muddy from the rain. We will definitely be back in the summer (or a non rainy stay) for the outdoor fire pits!

    Joy2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a perfect cabin for our 3 couples and a baby! The upper loft gets overly hot when the heater is on, so we suggest keeping it on low and cracking the window up top. All necessities were provided! Would totally come again!

    Sarah2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a hidden gem! It’s tucked away right on the river for an easy escape from tourists, but close enough to skiing and hiking. It’s well labeled and stocked making it easy to get comfortable. Mark and Dawn were incredibly helpful hosts who have thought of everything you may need for your stay. I’m looking forward to coming back when the weather is warmer to check out the hikes!

    Christina2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is located 25 minutes from Stevens ski resort. It sits on a beautiful river next to a very scenic wooden bridge. The cabin itself is adorable, complete with a fireplace and a lot of rustic cabin touches. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked. We were able to cook breakfasts and dinners in the house with every cooking utensil and tool we needed. The beds were comfortable and the hot water was readily available. If the heat is off when you arrive there are heaters in the main bedroom and the kitchen which got the house to a more comfortable temperature after a few hours. Overall I would definitely stay here again!

  • Super cute cabin. Hot tub was great. About 30 minutes to Stevens Pass.

  • The cabin was very clean and comfy. We enjoyed the hot tub and were happy about the cleanliness and amenities.

  • We had a great stay at this cabin! It's in an amazing location nestled between the mountains- such a beautiful place to be! We really enjoyed the cozy A-frame and the indoor wood burning stove. The hot tub and out door fire pit were also a hit with our friends. We would definitely stay here again!

    Liz2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I booked this cabin for a quick weekend getaway and it was exactly what we were looking for! All indoor spaces were very clean, the hot tub was clean and easy to start, and there was firewood already cut and ready for use. The Vacasa company was very responsive, which was great considering we booked just a few days before our check-in date. A member of the Vacasa team was able to email the check-in info to me right after I booked. The only thing that caused some slight confusion upon arrival was that the photos depict the cabin as painted a cream/tan color and it is actually painted red. Thanks for a great stay, Vacasa!

    Sara2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay here for the weekend. The kitchen was completely full so you can make whatever meals you want, just bring the food! The hot tub was very clean and comfortable. Beds were comfy as well! Having a fire inside and playing board games was very relaxing. I thought that the back porch of this property rested along the river but it actually has its own backyard, complete with a fire pit and fenced area. The river was less than two minutes away and very simple to find. We really enjoyed our stay here and it is clear that the host has gone above and beyond to ensure that guests would have a great time in this home. Details and directions that one might need are very clearly laid out for you upon entering the home. The neighborhood felt very charming and safe. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing place to hang their hat.

    Ashly2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was awesome! Much more then what I expected. Really loved the back area of the cabin with the fire pit. It was awesome being able to go to the river and the scenery was amazing. Would definetly bring my family again.

There are two big bedrooms with comfortable queen size beds, a large living room and dining room space to enjoy quality family time. The property is The property is 45mins away from Leavenworth and there are many nature hikes near by as well as white water river rafting. A grocery store is about 10mins away.
Very few neighbors near by that keep to themselves. The property is very secluded with no light pollution so you can see the stars! There is little to no sound at night. Occasionally, a train will come by and you'll hear the sound of the train whistle. Cougars and other animals may wander around at night. For your safety, please stay by the cabin during night times. The river beach area is a slow paced stream but please swim with caution
  • Good place, great view. Rivers right down the road, big property with a friendly and nice host. The house is nice and comfy and always warm!

  • Such a great place to stay. We couldn't have asked for a better host. The cabin was amazing and so are the surrounding areas!

    Kimmi2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Will is a solid guy. Knows a lot about the area, and the location couldn't be more central to everything you want to do in this area. The property itself is like a park, with amenities you don't really see anywhere else, like a designated gun range. (Great for pistols). Everything was peaceful, and everything we needed was provided. We'll definitely be coming back.

    James2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome gem....check this place out!!!

    Jerami2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible time at William’s huge cabin. The living room is enormous, with a large fireplace where we spent our evenings. There was enough room to spread out and for the dogs to play inside or outside. The setting is beautiful and the yard is practically a park. Tons of beautiful hikes in the area. We took the dogs to Boardman Lake and the Barclay Lake trail, which is right across the street. We purchased our hiking pass at the conveniently located Goldbar Family Grocer. William was a great host who had a ton of great tips. We hope to return someday.

    Christina2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was the perfect location for my bachelor party. We had 10 guys and had plenty of space to stretch out, shoot guns for a few hours and have a few bonfires. Access to the river is super close. Really nice views all around. No frills, but super laid back host. The first rule, there are no rules 🥳

  • Great cabin. All as expected. Lots of great special touches and being pet friendly was real win for us. Had I only known they had a full set of fishing gear in the mud room! Didn't realize until we were taking the recycling out the morning of our last day! :-) We will definitely consider the Baring Lodge again.

    Philippa2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • The house and property was so amazing. We were able to see different types of geese and birds on the water. Something the post doesn’t tell you about is the water access and current. We had a perfect day on the water. Right on the property is a short but rocky trek to get to the water but there was also a little beach next door that was easier for my parents to use to get to the water. The river current was not too strong and we were able to swim across to the rocky shore and walk along the water to the stronger currents as well as further back directly across the water from the house to a private lagoon area with warmer water. The house was wonderful but we really didn’t spend too much time inside since we had such a great outdoor space with the river, hot tub, grill and fire pit! We would definitely stay here again!

** River access is across the street from this property! Ask Evolve for details! ** This adorable 2-bedroom, 2-bath cabin has everything you could want at your fingertips, from the beach beckoning right across the street to a luxurious hot tub for a long soak and the wind whispering through the pines all around you. With plenty of room for 4 people to enjoy this carefree getaway, you'll have an unforgettable escape to the Puget Sound North Area.
Master Bedroom: Full Bed | Bedroom 2: Queen Bed | Living Room: 2 Twin Beds From the moment you step in the front door, you'll know you've found the perfect home-away-from-home. Warm pine floors and ceilings, cedar siding, and the Norweigan-style wood stove give you that perfect cozy cabin feel, while the plush furniture beckons you to kick off your shoes and curl up with a cup of hot chocolate. You'll love looking out of your window to take in the river just across the road, the mountains in the distance, and the old-growth maples, cedars, and hemlocks all around you. The sense of going "back to nature" is palpable in this cabin, which we've lovingly named 'Light in the Woods'. The kitchen is compact but beautifully appointed with everything you need to whip up amazing meals, and a little breakfast bar so your whole group can gather around to keep the chefs company - and maybe sneak a taste of the sauce simmering on the stove! Enjoy your meals at the pretty dining table indoors or bring them out to the porch for a little al fresco dining. A propane barbecue might even tempt you to do a little grilling while your party piles on the comfortable couch on the covered porch. That covered porch lets you enjoy the beauties of nature and the cozy hot tub whether it's rain or shine during your vacation, and we suspect you'll spend a great deal of your time on one of the many outdoor spaces. There's an uncovered porch with comfortable deck chairs, as well as a fantastic fire pit surrounded by seating - a great place to while away an evening toasting marshmallows and telling stories. Finally, there's a small picnic table with a shade umbrella for an easy lunch out in the beautiful woods. Ready to tuck into bed? Retire to the master bedroom, which features a full-sized bed, a private en suite bathroom and private access to that covered patio and hot tub! The second bedroom is just as cozy, with a queen sized bed and lots of storage space. You can even add an extra sleeping space if necessary - a portion of the main living space can be partitioned off with a fold-out wall, and 2 twin beds can neatly fit into that semi-private room. It's a great option if you're bringing kids!
You'll be close to all the wonders of nature, with river access across the street and the beach just 1000 ft west of the property. Venture a little further afield to Mt. Baring, Lake Serene, or Dorothy Lake - all just 10-15 minutes away - or take in some skiing and professional mountain biking at Stevens Pass, 22 miles away. Make a day trip to Leavenworth, which is less than an hour away. It's likely you won't be able to do everything in one trip - which is just fine, since you'll want to come back to the Light in the Woods cabin for another magical getaway. Book your stay at this delightful Puget Sound North Area vacation rental cabin today!
  • Mary and Allan's cabin is so cute! It's perfect for a family or group trip and is in a beautiful location. The river is right across the street, super accessible! A great weekend getaway.

    Malia2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Allan and Mary were very responsive. We had to change the dates and the number of guests and they were able to accommodate. The house is beautiful. It is located right next to the river in a quiet community in the forest. Easy access, spacious, great indoor and outdoor fireplaces, elegant little house and you feel the love that hosts put in it. The house has everything a little family needs for a weekend. There are many activities within a short drive, but for those who seek quiet time this house is perfect too. Very close to US-2.

  • Great cozy quiet cabin with everything you need. There was a power outage during our stay there but it was while we were out on the slopes at steven's so it didn't matter much. Allan and Mary were very quick with the updates on when the power would be back on. Overall a great experience!

Hearthstone Cottage is the perfect quaint and tranquil getaway for anyone looking for that iconic Pacific Northwest retreat, whether it be for recreation, relaxation, or recharge. The sounds of Index Creek across the road will lull you into a state of serenity so you'll be rested and rejuvenated for mountain adventures at nearby Stevens Pass Mountain Resort, world-class hikes, white water rafting and more. This cozy hideout in the woods set at the front of 10 magical acres can accommodate up to 6 guests with 2 “bedrooms”, loft with sleeping area and a well-appointed kitchen and living space with a wood burning fireplace, all the cooking necessities, and WIFI.
This incredibly cute 660 square foot cottage has an elevated 160 square foot front deck as well as a cool and shady seating area to the side so you can enjoy the great outdoors any time of day or year. You'll be inspired and invigorated by the lush and verdant setting, set to the soundtrack of babbling Index Creek across the road. Built in 1936, it has been remodeled to bring out the essence of cabin life, with pine-planked walls, dark wood floors, and that classic country white wainscot kitchen complete with the farm house apron-front sink. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you'll need to prepare meals for the group or a romantic dinner for two, set on the dining table at the deck-side window. The living space is centered around an impressive river rock hearth around the wood burning fireplace where you can entertain with a classic board game or enjoy complimentary Netflix (or your own WIFI streaming service) to snuggle up for a movie. Guests will love the collection of maps and books on local history, hikes, wildlife and sights to make the most of your visit to the Cascades in Washington State. Up to 5 guests can sleep among the three different sleeping quarters: a full in one “bedroom” and twin in the other (these rooms have privacy curtains but no doors), with a futon in the living area. There's a bit of rustic whimsy when sharing the bathroom (shower + toilet) as the only sink is in the kitchen. Currently we have the loft set up as a cozy nook for games and reading, but as of August 15 we will have another double bed in the loft. Your local hosts are eager to help plan the perfect getaway, with insider knowledge on everything from where to dine to when to pick berries. There's so much to do just minutes away including snow sports at Stevens Pass Mountain Resort, water adventures on the Skykomish River, rock climbing on the Index Town Wall or fun and quirky local events like the Sultan Shindig or Index Arts Festival. Once you've experienced its charm, we know Hearthstone Cottage will be the endearing mountain escape you'll want to return to year after year.

  • Stay here if you want to get out of the way. Accessing the cabin isn't difficult, per say, but the cabin is certainly remote. In a busy Presidents day weekend, we only really saw one neighbor. Stay here if you want an introspective place. The kitchen is very nice for a cabin this size, and the living room has sufficient space for all the reading, eating, watching or small games one could like. You will be far from restaurants, and a drive from trailheads. For two people, it's grand. The laundry, dishwasher, and fireplace make the place quite self sufficient. Other notes is that the place could host a ski clan if wanted. There is enough bed space (two downstairs beds in the extra rooms), and a large enough kitchen to have some organized meal preparation. It's small, but then the idea isn't to spend much time inside.

The “Riverhouse” is located on the famous Cable Hole on the Skykomish River in the delightful neighborhood of Big Bend. This home has been in our family for thirty years. The Cable Hole is known for it’s light current where you will watch or can partake in swimming, floating, or steelhead fishing. There is a bald eagles nest 200 feet to the left of our property, where you can see the eagles grabbing fish out of the river. There are two mountain spring fed waterfalls across from our property. Our property has a large grassy backyard with a fire pit and direct access to the beach. The property also includes a hot tub, large sunbathing deck, BBQ, and an art studio with a pottery wheel and a paint studio for your inner artist. The Riverhouse is equipped with board games, Xbox, high speed Internet, Amazon Alexa, Roku, smart TV’s, Bose Bluetooth speaker and Netflix. It also includes two belt driven bicycles and one children’s bicycle. Big Bend is a nice paved community where jogging and riding bicycles around the neighborhood are enjoyable and encouraged. Helmets are included. The house has three bedrooms and an addition with a futon bed. It comfortably sleeps six people. The master bedroom has a king size bed. The second bedroom has a full size bed. The third bedroom has a twin size bed with a large architecture desk for your laptop or work needs. There is a cedar filled master bathroom with a soaking tub. The main bathroom has a large shower. Big Bend is a private neighborhood with two private parks. The first park has a sandy beach where Proctor Creek runs into the Skykomish River. It’s one of the best swimming and sun tanning beaches on the river. The second park has a basketball court, swings and a merry-go-round. All dogs are welcome with an additional pet deposit of thirty dollars. I am always accessible to you if you have any questions. You can call anytime, day or night. We are excited to share our family retreat with you. Enjoy! When you’re visiting the Riverhouse there are two places that you’ll want to make destinations to eat. The Sultan Bakery has wonderful breakfast and lunch & is known for their donuts. Zeke’s Drive Inn is located across the highway from Big Bend and is easily walkable from the Riverhouse. The Drive Inn is famous for their burgers and shakes. https://www.facebook.com/OfficialZekesDriveIn https://www.yelp.com/biz/sultan-bakery-sultan-2 As a native to Gold Bar I would suggest these hikes. There are a lot hiking trails to chose from, but these four hikes are easily accessible and my favorite. Taking a guided horseback riding tour alongside the river is one of my favorite activities. Alpine Adventure is the best for guided river rafting tours. In July and August, search Big Bend for low land huckleberries and blackberries. They are plentiful. https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/heybrook-lookout Heybrook Lookout is a short and moderately steep hike through a fern and moss covered forest to a fun, staircase-ridden lookout with great views of the nearby mountains. If you are introducing someone to hiking, limited on time, or trying to add on another hike or activity in the area, this is the hike for you. https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/barclay-lake The 2.2-mile trail to Barclay Lake starts directly from the parking lot, heading east-southeast through an area that has recovered from clear-cut status. For most of its course, the trail follows the path of Barclay Creek, which is tucked into a narrow valley between Gunn and Merchant Peaks to the north and Baring Mountain to the south. https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/wallace-falls And unlike many trails, which sacrifice peripheral scenery on the journey for the prospect of a grand summit view, the Woody Trail is consistently gorgeous as you wind your way along the Wallace River and approach the nine dazzling falls. https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/lake-serene Lake Serene and Bridal Veil Falls compete for attention on this trail. Either would be a worthy destination by themselves and combined they are a great day on the trail. From the parking lot, where a Northwest Forest Pass is required, the trail follows an old road bordered by towering salmonberry bushes and deciduous trees. The berries ripen in early to mid June and the best ones are found high above your head. http://www.skylandranch.org Skyland Ranch is directly across the Cable Hole from the riverhouse. The ranch has been operating for more than twenty years. It provides hourly horse rentals all year every day except Tuesdays. http://www.alpineadventures.com/skykomish.html#family Alpine Adventures offers guided whitewater rafting trips & scenic raft floats. This easy floating section of river on the "Skykomish River" provides an opportunity to experience the wonders of nature. The looming presence of Mt. Index rising nearly 6,000 ft. from the valley floor reminds you that you're in the heart of the Cascade Mountains. We often see wildlife along the river and share fun and interesting facts as the guides help to put the whole alpine forest ecosystem into perspective. The trip starts at Big Eddy State Park and is a beautiful leisurely ride downstream to Sultan. From there you'll ride back to our Outpost in Gold Bar on the Alpine Adventures shuttle. The trip is roughly four hours long.
  • Thanks for being so open with your awesome home. Provides you a little of everything great about the area, art, the river, beautiful views, hot tub that’s easy to use, large deck, fire pit, super friendly neighbors who were delightful and pet friendly. Larger space than I expected and had lots of personal touches which made the experience better in our opinions :) great communication with lyss. Would definitely stay again in the future.

Awesome view from the deck on the back of the house of cloud encased mountains, and the peaceful sound of the river passing by....viewed a formation of Canada geese that flew just above the water just above head high....just a great location.

We are located in the north cascades in a town of 150 people. This little jewel has mountains all around, a river that runs through town, rock walls and plenty of trees, trails and fresh air. • Very friendly folks, beautiful spot.

  • A friend had his wedding at the River House in Index, WA. The nearest hotels are in Monroe, which is 30-45 minutes away, depending on traffic. Most of the other properties on Airbnb are for cabins which do not make a lot of sense for a single traveler or a couple without kids. A Stone's Throw was perfect. It is a block or two from the River House venue. Lynn and David were excellent hosts. You basically have the upstairs to yourself, which consists of the bedroom, full bath, and a living room with tv and internet. Lynn also stocks the mini fridge with fresh breakfast snacks every morning. The description and photos were spot on. I was able to come and go without any issues. There are also many outdoor activities within minutes. I am not much of a hiker but I was able to do introductory hikes at nearby Heybrook Lookout and Heybrook Ridge. Lynn and David have lived in Index for decades and are happy to help you with activities, restaurants, etc. if you need it. Great trip!

  • Very quaint tiny town (pop 150), nowhere to eat or drink in town so load up enroute. Lynne’s place is unique, marvellous outside shower and beautiful interior which wouldn’t look out of place in little house on the prairie! Real people in a real American sleepy town. Loved it!

    Andrew2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous getaway at Lynn and David’s place. The space was clean and cozy with very thoughtful touches throughout. Lynn provided a fresh and delicious breakfast which was the perfect fuel for a breathtaking hike just steps from their back door. I will be missing that outdoor shower with a mountain view backdrop for a long time! Thanks for everything, we hope to visit you again!

  • Lynn's place is one of the most, if not the most, beautiful airbnbs I've stayed at. We had the entire upper floor of the house, so there's privacy, and an unbeatable view of the surrounding mountains. The town of Index is very peaceful and the location is great: surrounded by mountains and next to a beautiful river. Lynn and David have a very pretty garden that's very peaceful and a great place to relax and read. The provided breakfast items were a nice touch. Lynn and David were very welcoming and accommodating, offering tips about local activities and restaurants. David helped us fix a camera lens with a stuck hood. In summary, this is a great listing and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

    Abel2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed Lynn’s place as a quiet weekend escape. It was clean, quiet and we loved our private living room and the beautiful bathroom plus the views. Very peaceful.

  • Beautiful location with stunning views and an amazing garden. Very clean with an amazingly comfortable bed. Perfect place for a couple to stay to enjoy all the local activities from white water rafting, climbing and hiking.

  • Very clean & cozy place with nice view. David was very nice and easy o communicate. Would stay again for ski trip.

  • A lovely, quiet, peaceful place in the woods! Beautiful kitchen & bathroom, comfy bed- a perfect stay for one or two people. Wifi works perfect and TV is nice. The hot tub with a river view was extra special! I highly recommend!

  • Amazing! The interior is even better in person. Lots of hot water, very clean and crisp. Loved the gas fireplace, and the hot tub was private.

  • What a wonderful place. It was a great weekend. Amazing views. Cool area. The place was spotless and clean. Great directions and easy to follow suggestions. We skied all day at Stevens Pass and had a nice evening by the fire. 👍🏼👍🏼

More aptly described as a swanky chalet, this private and beautifully appointed mountain getaway along Highway 2, and 18 miles from Steven's Pass Ski Resort, combines tranquility and comfort with access to some of the best outdoor recreation opportunities in Washington. This retreat boasts an open floor plan, high end finishes, stainless steel appliances, and is located 50 feet from the river. Enjoy a complementary bottle of wine in the evening and Nespresso coffee bar in the morning.
This mountain get-away is private and well appointed with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The beds are new and the duvet covers for the down comforters are changed with every guest so you know your bed is sparkling clean. The kitchen is stocked with all of the wares you need to cook and the living room has plenty of room by the fire to relax. We have a hot tub out by the river that makes an excellent retreat. In the summer, there is a fire pit, a barbeque and the river to entertain you. But be careful, a mountain river can be a dangerous body of water. The home sits directly on the Skykomish River, in a small gated neighborhood. There are lots of outdoor opportunities in the area. There are maps at the cabin to help guide you! The home is just off of Highway 2, which runs East from Everett and West to Wenatchee. The quaint town of Skykomish is West on Highway 2 about 8 miles. If you are coming from the Seattle area, it is best to stock up on groceries in Monroe. (We like Fred Meyer because it is one of those super stores.)
This property is on a very small little private road with about 12 other cabins. It is very close to Highway 2 (about 1/2 mile) but it is so quiet and secluded because it is situated on the other side of the Skykomish River which is a large body of flowing water. You will feel like you are in the wilderness but you really wont be.
  • This is one of the most stylish air bnb places I have been to and I travel frequently for work and pleasure. A great getaway and close to some other fun locations. Amenities were high class and host communication was excellent. Highly recommend.

    Cindy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • ***MUST STAY*** this was one of the best Airbnb's we've visited. Nestled between two epic mountains on the Skykomish river leads one to ponder the beauty and power of nature. Everything was set up to easily get in and out. The owner responded quickly to all questions. If you want a memorable experience in the heart of Washington look no further. We will be back!

    Marcus2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing Airbnb with river and mtn views. The kitchen is amazing and has more appliances than expected. Such a fun place, and the loft is super cute

    Monica2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a lovely time enjoying this space. It was a peaceful and quiet get away with all of the right touches. It was insanely clean which I very much so appreciated. It was a great weekend to unplug, recharge our batteries. The drive to Leavenworth was only about 50 minutes which was a gorgeous drive. After a great Leavenworth experience with the Christmas lighting festival we were so happy to escape back away from all the crowds and noise and get back to our quiet time. We would definitely come back! Also the host had AMAZING communication!

  • I could not be more amazed at my stay here! I stayed here with my husband and two kids, and it was such a blast! Although you are close to neighbors, you still are in a very quiet and secluded area. This place has everything you want and more! The amenities exceeded my every expectation. Everything in the cabin smelled fresh and new. I also loved the modern feel, it made me feel right at home. The hot tub was an amazing added bonus to the whole experience. The environment here is quiet and peaceful compared to the city where I live. I will definitely be coming back!

    Marissa2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Susy was a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed. This place is perfect if you are looking to enjoy the Pacific Northwest in a quiet setting with the sounds of a river, wind, and birds, you would think you were camping. However you are just an hour drive or so to the city and be able to take in all that it has to offer. But when your done from a day of Hiking the big city or the mountains, Susys place allows you to relax in peace. The hot tub was awesome and I spent every night out looking at the stars. We recommend this place to anyone. Thanks again

  • It was a wonderful stay! Relaxing and fun. I would stay here again.

  • A Riverside Retreat was just what we were looking for a relaxing get away in the mountains. The house was very clean, up to date, had great amenities (bikes, hot tub, washer/dryer, etc.), and had spectacular views! It was quiet and very relaxing. I loved waking up every morning and drinking my coffee outside while listening to the river. Ken & Molly were great hosts. They were quick to respond to any questions that I had and were very complimentary. We will definitely be back to Index and A Riverside Retreat in the future!

  • Great!

    Zhiqi2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This trip was absolutely FANTASTIC! The place was as described but the best part for me was the location. It is FAR from everything which is what we wanted. Plenty of hiking nearby. Bridal Veil Falls is a MUST! If you enjoy hiking, you will love everything about this trail. Outdoor Adventure is literally 3mins away and we went on an amazing whitewater rafting trip. The hospitality was second to none. They were extremely kind and sweet. Aside from that, Ken and Molly recommended a stellar Tarot Card Reader that is from Index and is very reasonably priced (just $1 per card - average of 15 cards pp) and she spends about 20-25 mins reading your cards. There were a total of 5 ladies in our group. She came to the house and read all of our cards. It was a real treat! Especially for the price. Ken and Molly have everything you need for cooking. We made most of our meals at the house. The essentials are there: a wine opener (big must for our group!), pots, pans, silverware and even a fair amount of seasonings and oils for cooking. There's the ability to watch Netflix on the smart tv and plenty of board games and movies which we took advantage of. We also visited Leavenworth and decided to take a night out on the town and went to a little local bar called Bubba's Roadhouse. WE CLOSED THAT SPOT DOWN singing karaoke all night. It was a blast and a must if you are looking to do something fun and not drive all the way back to the city. It is definitely a dive bar but the people who work there are a ton of fun and if you like to sing and have a good time no matter the setting, you'll have fun at Bubba's. All-in-all, the group of ladies I traveled with all had a fabulous time together! Loved the table in the kitchen for drinking wine and sharing stories. Just a fun time all around! Thanks Ken and Molly for letting us use your home!!!

  • Accommodating hosts, great amenities, incredible location! Extremely comfy beds! I wish we could have stayed two weeks!

    Christina2019-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • The world class view from the Adirondack chairs on the porch attracted serious photographers all day long. Cozy blankets and cushy seating in the living room were so appreciated. I love the vintage style.

    Frances2019-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • I LOVED our stay at Ken & Molly’s. It was so nice to wake up and have coffee in the patio watching/listen to the beautiful river pass by. Their home is comfortable, stylish, and spacious. Loved the hot tub in the backyard as well as the fire pit. I definitely plan to stay at Ken & Molly’s home on a next Index, WA. Getaway!

    Anisha2019-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a true treasure. It is exactly as described. The house is well equipped and provides for a very comfortable stay. The best part is the quiet nature of this unique little town with amazing views of the mountains and the river. When you are here you are truly away from it all. I highly recommend this location as an excellent place to stay. You will not be disappointed.
