Waterfront Mid Century Style House at Wizard Creek

One of the best Airbnb experiences we have ever had. Amazing peaceful location. Large open plan with lots of separate seating areas. Fully equipped kitchen with quality pots and pans. We will most definitely try to return and book again for another week of paradise. Daily we see sea lions and seals, many birds, and one day we saw dolphins.

Ocean & Rockies mountain view from The Tower House

MichaelRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This is a great place for a large group. super spacious with great view. Great kitchen with lots of cooking utensils. We spend two nights at weekend. There is a very nice trail a few minutes driving range. Other than that, there is not much you can do in the neighbourhood around this time of the year. Recommend to bring your own food and kids should have fun by themselves.

STAY 4 PAY 3 April 28-May 8 Beachfront & Hot Tub

We had a wonderful time here. The home was just like the photos - the view was truly spectacular. We had beautiful sunny days and enjoyed having a beach right at our doorstep. We have a young family and found the place to be very family friendly, with beach toys available, a safe home for young kids, a playground nearby, and a beach safe for young kids. My children especially loved seeing the seals and hearing them bark! The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals at home, everything was clean, the beds comfy - no problems! Highly recommend, and we'd love to stay again.

Otter Lake B&B

This is a little Oasis. We loved touring the gardens and saying hellos to the ducks and chickens. It was wonderful having three private rooms for our group. The local recommendations he provided were helpful. Make sure you order some of their baking and preserves while enjoying your stay. We were lucky enough to try their fare at the farmer’s market. Delicious!

Big Sky Villa

AllisonRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We cannot add anything to other’s comments about how wonderful Bronwyn’s place is than what has already been written!!! We were a family of three generations and we used every bed in the house; and the office for one of our remote-working kids. We were visiting one of our kids + grands who live in Comox but it was the Villa we used for all of us to be together during the day. The combined living-dining-kitchen space made it ideal for everyone to hang out. The ‘extras’ like a high chair, kids dishes, multiple options for games, cans of drinks sitting in the beverage fridge, food essentials like oils, sugars, etc were available but because we were mostly ordering in or heating up pre-made foods, we didn’t really need much of their well supplied baking, prepping containers. There is a major sewer project happening just outside BUT because the windows and house are so well insulated, you’d really not know any big machines were out there. We all said it was the best place, ever.

My staff and I visited Cortes for work and we were very happy with Candice’s accommodation. The sauna was a lovely treat after an evening clam dig 👌. The bedding, bathroom & kitchen were very comfortable for 3 people. We’ll definitely stay again for our next contract.

Your guide to Powell River

All About Powell River

Situated on Canada’s Sunshine Coast, the city of Powell River is surrounded by mountains, dense temperate rainforest, and an undeveloped coastline that runs along the sheltered Malaspina Strait. This may be part of the Lower Mainland in British Columbia, but Powell River is accessible only by plane or boat, maintaining its natural splendor.

The whale-dotted waters of Desolation Sound are just an hour north, while Inland Lake Provincial Park, with its boardwalk that appears to float on water, is only 20 minutes away. The city has its own charms, with a historic district that preserves the original early-20th-century logging towns. The rest of Powell River is brimming with bistros and bakeries, as well as an award-winning brewery where you can unwind after a day’s outdoor adventures.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Powell River

Thanks to its temperate rainforest location, Powell River has a wet season and a dry season. The dry season lasts from April to September and peaks in July. This is the best time to book your Powell River cabin rentals and explore the natural wonders surrounding the city. Summer is also festival season. The Blackberry Festival is a local favorite, drawing crowds for a week in August for food and outdoor festivities that end with fireworks. Winter in Powell River is mild compared to the rest of Canada. The forests turn green, and waterfalls are at their fullest and most impressive. For a more traditional Canadian winter, head to one of the many mountains surrounding the city with skis or snowshoes for fun surrounded by pristine snow-covered forest.

Twenty minutes from Powell River, this provincial park has an eight-mile-long flat wooden boardwalk that wraps around Inland Lake. Bridges and a crushed limestone path complete the wheelchair-accessible loop, which features a collection of totem poles from local Tla’amin First Nations artists. The lake is warm and great for taking a refreshing dip after cycling or running the trail.

Historic District

The National Historic District of Powell River is an official Canadian historic site that can be explored through self-guided walking tours or via a guide from the Townsite Heritage Society. The town was designed as a community around the first paper and pulp mill in the early 20th century. More than 400 buildings and homes, including the doctor’s house and the original hospital, have been restored and maintained to commemorate the city’s early years. The Powell River Historical Museum & Archives on Marine Avenue houses a collection of logging artifacts and pieces created by Tla’amin artists.

Desolation Sound

Located northwest of Powell River on the northern end of the Salish Sea, the deep Desolation Sound offers incredible views for kayakers and boaters. You can explore the coves and islands on calm waters as you paddle past tree-covered cliffs and white-capped mountains. At any point, resident orcas and seals may break the surface of the water to complete the West Coast experience.
