Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Otsu

This was a beautiful and peaceful stay in the country side. Shun was so kind and picked us up at the train station and took us to the supermarket as it was dinner time and restaurants were closed. His wife drove us to the station day of check out which was extremely kind. Great place to stay to get away from the city with a great host!

We stayed at Toshie’s designer house for 4 nights. The architecturally fantastic home is in a quiet neighbourhood a short busride from Gakuenmae station, with quick train access to Nara, Kyoto and Osaka. Toshie picked us up from the station, which was appreciated as it might have been tricky to find the house ourselves. She gave us instructions for local transport and amenities within walking distance. Toshie is an exceptional host who is genuinely interested in her guests making sure they have an enjoyable stay. During our visit we needed medical attention and Toshie was extremely helpful with taking us to the hospital and pharmacy. We felt very safe having her as a translator. One night we were able to join Toshie and her husband for dinner and also met their daughter who has a ceramics studio in the house. Thank you Toshie for your hospitality, kindness and generosity. We had an absolutely wonderful time. I highly recommend this house for a unique base to explore the Nara area.

Best stay in Japan so far.

Soochan is such a great host! She helped us with so many details that were confusing to us being in a foreign country. She helped us find transportation and restaurants. The unit was clean and comfortable and in a very convenient location for what we needed.

We stayed here for two nights and we only wish we've stayed longer and have spent more time exploring Kameoka while we were there. This house has a beautiful layout and structure that provided us so much serenity and the opportunity to appreciate the nature in surroundings. At the same time, Christian Is the warmest host we could ask for, being a dad of three kids with the youngest at 2, he came to pick us up on both evenings (the second day was actually quite late at night), helped us arrange the amazing experience of making and tasting soba with a sensai from the area, and made us delicious breakfast in the mornings.. We'd definitely love to come back and explore more of the area with Christian and recommend It to anyone who would like to experience the countryside life with easy access to the city!

There were no problems communicating with the host, and they listened to our requests. The building was independent, and I was able to stay without hesitation. It was nice to have games like baseball. Please be aware that for a group of 6 people, 2 people will be staying in a double bed.

As always, I had a lovely stay here, my home away from home in Kyoto! Perfect location and amenities. Naoko graciously allowed me to extend my stay a day when I discovered that I’d made a mistake when booking - she is always very quick to respond to messages. I’ll be back!

Place was very clean. Close walk to Kyoto station and easy to find.

Affordable and sufficient, the accommodation was minimalistic but still had everything we needed during our stay. Great for shorter stays. The host replied instantly every time which was helpful.

We enjoyed our stay here. It was near a train station, there were restaurants and convenience stores nearby and it was a 10-20 min walk from the main shopping areas. They also let us leave our bags early which was super helpful. It was also decently roomy for the price. Most hotels have very limited space so I’m glad we found this boutique hotel.

Taketo was very helpful and friendly! We have explored the near locations and shrines that Taketo recommended. Everything was smooth and we had a nice time in Kyoto!

This was our second stop on our trip to Japan and we would always book the place again! It was super clean, very modern and close to the train station.

The Kyoto apartment was well positioned, close to several bus lines and only about a five minute walk from the river and many restaurants and bars. The washing machine was appreciated and it felt more down to earth to get the experience of a proper apartment while on our travels. The hosts were very communicative and made us feel well hosted.

Summer is great! The location was perfect for shopping and fun restaurants. It was perfect for us, very clean and comfortable. I actually felt. very lucky to find a place where we were so close to so much. Highly recommend 💞

The place is very clean, neat and tidy. Has really good quality amenities including an espresso machine, a dryer room. It's very easy to find as it appears on the map directly when you put House Nozomi Hayashi San is very responsive and looked into one of our concerns immediately. It's near a bus stop with multiple buses going into the town. Katsuragawa station is about 1.5 KM, so bit of a walk when you have luggage or are tired. But we got cabs fairly easily. Do your research on places you want to travel to in Kyoto so you can see if the location works for you. In terms of convenience, lots of shops, supermarkets etc are available. It feels spacious. It would have been better to have access to the wardrobe, but we had a short stay so we did not mind living out of our suitcases. Overall good place, good amenities, location is good but that's subjective. Good, professional host.

This is an extraordinary place. The location is in the heart of the buzzing Gion district, and everything easily walkable. They hosts were helpful & flexible with us leaving bags before and after. The space is unbelievable and rare. It's very spacious, which was a relief after being crammed in prior hotels. Basically it is a giant and very cool room, with attached bathroom and laundry wing. Bedding comfy. The place feels funky. It has absolutely everything you could need. It is not a shared space with anyone else, it's all yours and private. We travelled with 2 toddlers and the space was perfect. Huge room to run and climb, with plastic kitchenware, toys and books. As the host mentions, it is across the hall from a rooftop bar that can be a little noisy, but also distant bars and the district is noisy and busy in general, it was okay. It was neat and fine but could use a deep clean (it would be a hard space to keep perfect), but overall wonderful. 10/10.

This location was a clean and cozy place well worth the money. It was close to a local bus station which can take you downtown and has plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The owner was quick to respond and very helpful whenever questions arose. Would highly recommend and will be booking here again next time I’m in Kyoto!
