Monthly Rentals in Newsham

We stayed at The Bakehouse for a couple of nights as a little birthday celebration for our daughter. It was exactly what we were looking for. It is immaculately well kept and has obviously been renovated with love and attention to detail. It has everything you could need, there was even a special little bag of items for the dog. The cottage is just as described and if anything the rooms were larger than we anticipated. Beds were comfy, everything worked, the bath / shower was always hot and although we had no need of the log burner it was comforting to know it was ready to go. Loads of beautiful local walks and scenery, farm shops abound, and eye tests at Barnard Castle are easily accessible. I would definitely recommend The Bakehouse to friends and we hope to visit again. We had such a wonderful and relaxing stay at this cottage and will definitely go back. There is so much to like about staying here - the lakeside view from the bedroom, feeding the goats, ponies and ducks, relaxing by the lakeside fire pit at night, the walk to Mainsgill Farm for breakfast, the excellent food in the Bay Horse right next door (book in advance to avoid disappointment as it gets busy), and the well equipped games room. There are also so many nice villages and places of interest just a short drive away. Hilary is such a lovely host and very friendly and accommodating.

We had the most wonderful time at Joanna’s lovely cottage. It is even better than we imagined! The garden space was perfect for our dog, she could stay off the lead and we knew she was safe because of the wiring on the fence. Great location with lots of walks that were recommended on a leaflet left in the cottage which we found really helpful too. We would definitely return and recommend to others! Thank you again 🥰🥰

We arrived with clear instructions to a gem of a place, the cottage was immaculate and extremely well maintained and presented throughout. The small touches such as the daffodils, biscuits and chocolates was a lovely welcome touch. The setting was just beautiful and peaceful. Watching the birds at the feeder in the mornings and the sound of the river made it very tranquil. We absolutely loved it and could not rate it highly enough we can’t wait to stay again in the future.
