Cottage vacation rentals in Marin County

The first thing you notice is the waves from all directions. You immediately feel at peace. All the amenities were easy to locate and good quality, including great pots and pans, knives dishes and gadgets for cooking. There were extra linens and towels, it was comfy upstairs and down. It was well laid out and you look out at Point Reyes and Tomales Bay while lying in bed upstairs. The stairs were quite steep but there was a nice bedroom downstairs as well. I enjoyed the heated ceramic floor in the downstairs bathroom and there was good water pressure. We loved the wide wraparound deck and dock, as well as outdoor tables and a garden. The beds and sofas were all very good quality and comfortable and it was nice to have the fireplace. The dog had room to sniff and roam safely at will as the decks and garden were well enclosed. Hog Island is one minute away, Tony’s five minutes away for the chowder, and truly awesome pizza at Route One on the way to the dog beach at Dillon. Thanks!

The house was exactly as described. Beautiful location, amazing home, wonderful experience for our family! This home was so well decorated and charming and provided a great experience for our vacation. The location was equally stunning. Such a peaceful place for us to relax.

Super cute little spot. Walking distance to Sonoma Plaza and it had a private hot tub. Good distance from some vineyards and wineries as well!

This place was the perfect hub for our girls weekend. All the wineries we chose were about a 10-15 minute drive and downtown Sonoma was even closer. Spacious backyard and we loved the hot tub. The space fit the seven of us better than we thought. I can’t imagine finding better value in the area.

Great space and beautiful property! About mile to Sonoma Square, easy walk and bikes were available too. Nice big shower and stylish accommodations. The hot tub was a nice perk! Loved our time visiting the area! We got coffee and quiche every morning from Basque. Capo Isetta was a great tasting room right in the square. Cheers!

We loved staying at the Dipsea Cottage. It’s a beautiful, calming, and comfortable space. We really enjoyed being able to walk to the beach, restaurants, playground, and shops. We look forward to coming back here again!

we had a very peaceful stay. we had cold weather so the hot tub and heated mattress pad really helped warm our bones. coffee and snacks were a lovey touch. would stay again.

Cynthia‘s house was excellent, very, very quaint and beautiful. We loved all the old-fashioned touches. The windows were absolutely amazing and the bird song in the morning was incredible. The hot tub was hot and perfect. And the gardens were so beautiful. We were absolutely enamored with everything. Cynthia was great and easy to work with and responsive. The way this old gem was kept up and left in its original form was extremely inspiring. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks so much for hosting us.

We stay in this property in between moving into another house. It’s perfect for small family with dog.

Claudia’s place is my go-to whenever visiting Fairfax, and for good reasons! It will remain as my first choice after this last visit.

The Mouse Hole was nice, and snug. The proximity to the beach is fantastic. Quiet neighborhood, good restaurants. The Parkside makes some good food, spendy but pretty great. This place is a win!

Overall we had a good stay at Susan’s rental. She was very nice and communicative. It was very quiet and the bed was comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook a few meals. Large refrigerator. Regular drip coffee pot. Very close to downtown Mill Valley so you can walk into town easily. There seemed to be a few other renters on this property, and our rental was the very back unit. The walkway down the length of the front house was a bit tight, with 2 gates. It was farther than we expected to load/unload bags. Just a heads up - Parking was a bit tricky because this property is on the main avenue (Blithedale).

We had a wonderful stay at this charming house by the beach. The location was perfect—just a few houses away from the beach, which made it super convenient for our family. The house itself was spotless when we arrived and had a warm, welcoming feel. It was very family-friendly, with thoughtful touches that made it easy to relax with kids and our dog. Overall, it was a perfect spot for a laid-back beach getaway, and we’d absolutely love to come back. Highly recommend for families or anyone traveling with pets!

This was one of my favorite airbnbs! The host has thought of everything and made the stay feel right at home. Their hospitality was so appreciated and their local recommendations were incredibly thorough and spot on. We really enjoyed peaceful morning coffee in the backyard listening to the small stream running under the deck and birds singing, enjoying the many flavors of tea provided, and cooking meals here. They had everything we needed and then some. I can’t recommend this space enough and very close to all nearby towns and attractions. We can’t wait to come back!

We loved our stay at the Bluebird Cottage. The cottage is beautifully maintained and very clean. We enjoyed exploring the beautiful art and collected pieces in each room. Every window had a different view of the trees and foliage surrounding us, creating a serene and private setting. Minie was an amazing host. We received clear instructions, local guides, and amenities that made us feel right at home. Tips for future travelers: -The tandem driveway has a steep rise in the middle, with the potential to scrape the bottom of the car when parking. We parked just below the bump and that was fine. -For cold weather, we found the wall unit by the front door didn’t heat the room much. The wall heaters worked great. For the bedroom wall heater to work the light switch closest to the bedroom closet needs to be turned on.

The house was very comfortable and perfect for a family get away! I loved the proximity to the beach. She allows a dog which is great.

Sarah is a great host, very respectful, communicative and generous. Would stay in this place again if we get to visit Sonoma.

We loved our stay at Berry Vine cottage. It was exactly as described. Cozy, private and comfortable. We loved using the small but well-equipped kitchen. It came in especially handy as restaurant hours were pretty limited in the area. The location was also great for exploring Pt. Reyes National Park. Highly recommend!

My mother, sister, and I so appreciated our time in this beautiful, thoughtfully-appointed, cozy cottage nestled into lush nature. We were minutes from Muir Woods, with easy, fragrant morning runs to Sausalito and downtown Mill Valley, and fun afternoon adventures around and over Mount Tam. Our days wound down catching up over the in-house Super Scrabble board. (We were thrilled to find it!) Everything was abundant in generous comfort, from the beds to the outdoor sitting areas to the kitchen's organic teas, and Jennifer was an absolute delight to interact with. We all left feeling refreshed, invigorated, and grateful. A wonderful place with a wonderful host. Thank you, Jennifer!

Steven & Suping went above and beyond to accommodate my stay in their cottage; from my request to have the large king sized bed moved to be up against the wall so my 1 year old son could safely sleep in the bed with me to even providing a highchair to my surprise! Along with covering all of the exposed outlets and securing the kitchen cupboards so my little one wouldn't get into them. This kind of attention to detail is what makes these hosts stand out above others. I truly felt welcomed and as if it was a home away from home. I would definitely recommend this cottage and these hosts, and I will look into staying here again on our next trip to the area.

Really loved this spot and had some amazing weather this weekend. Meg was very responsive and her house was beautiful and well kept. We hope to visit Inverness again some day!

What a super convenient location for our needs between Ross, Mill Valley, San Fran and Sonoma activities. Mona dropped by at our convenience and gave us a quick very informative overview. Such a kind human! Worked perfectly for our family over Thanksgiving. In floor heating takes awhile to heat, but we managed just fine. Mona spoiled us with amazing coffee…..many thanks! Enjoy this wonderful location.
