Our family had a great time staying here. My 2 kids, my wife and I had a memorable experience and Lois even gave them Halloween candy! She cooked us homemade breakfast in the morning and the entire house was clean. I participated in the Crossroads Marathon so I was also able to come back and shower afterwards; there was no rush to leave. There was excellent history with not only the house but from Louis and her family as well. This was a safe and pleasant place to rest and downtown was within walking distance.

I grew up in Emporia and my parents lived six blocks from the Gufler Mansion for many years, and I walked by it often from their home to Emporia State University. I finally had a chance to stay in this beautiful house, and I'm so glad I did. Brad and Susan were the perfect hosts, kind and accommodating, as was their associate Selena. There was a large bridal shower happening when I arrived, and a group was setting up for a wedding that evening, but Brad still managed to make time to give several of us a tour of the house, from the third floor to the basement. My room was lovely, and I enjoyed a quiet evening reading a book from the library. Highly recommend a stay here, should you be lucky enough to find a room available. I can't wait to come back -- and I'll stay longer next time.

I travel a ton and this is a unique experience! Lois was beyond friendly and made a lovely breakfast each morning. I looked forward to our morning chats. She is an immaculate housekeeper and everything was spotless and well maintained. It is a shared space (private room / shared bathroom and living quarters), which was new to me… but that is in keeping with the 1900s vibe Lois is going for. It was a pleasant experience and glad I tried something new!

This historic gem is ideally located and is a must-stay for visitors to the town. When I needed an urgent overnight stay in Emporia, the hosts graciously accommodated me on short notice. The mansion is beautiful, and the hosts are both caring and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful place to stay and very friendly hosts.

This is a very wonderful unique property. I have never had the chance to stay in a piece of history like this before and we had a great time exploring the whole house. They give you flashlights to play hide and seek in the dark and chocolates in each room as a little treat on arrival. Beds were standard but still comfortable and there were speakers we hooked our phones up to and played music while we sat and enjoyed our evening in the solarium room. So many cool hang out spots in this house. Great for a weekend couples trip. We didn’t have to chafe with any other guests on this particular weekend but I would be more than comfortable sharing since the space is so well set up to have lots of private retreats for people to go to talk. Breakfast as amazing in the morning and they were so friendly and generous with everything! We are already planning to go back!

In the Rose Garden room, there is a luggage rack, full length mirror, chair & a tall queen sized bed. There is a keypad lock on the bedroom door. The restroom is across the hall. This room is a corner room upstairs with a typical older home staircase & rail. There is a cute shared space with a table & chairs downstairs. Parking is on the street. The bed & breakfast is in a quiet neighborhood at the edge of town. Jeanette's pastries at the bakery are delicious! She was very quick to respond to any messages sent to her & was very nice in person. This was a great last minute overnight stay!

Keith and Sherri’s bed and breakfast was worth every penny spent and more! It was very clean and quiet, and Keith and Sherri are excellent hosts. I felt right at home, and Sherri went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable, from taking me to Walmart when I didn’t have a car, to sharing her yummy baked goods whenever she was whipping something up. I consider them my Kansas grandparents now. I cannot recommend this bed and breakfast enough!!

Was great for an anniversary getaway. The room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The house is historic with plenty of period-piece furniture, local history books, and photos of the original owners. Comfortable and nostalgic. Breakfast was good and the interaction with staff was great. Very friendly. House is in walking distance to restaurants, coffee shop, bakery, and FHSU campus.

Tim was a great host! Best breakfast in Manhattan! Location was perfect and he had so much knowledge about the local area and provide sightseeing and restaurant recommendations. Will definitely stay with Tim again.

We had SO much fun here even in the cold weather!! We were able to feed the Kangaroos and ride the Camel. Our tour was done by Hannah and she was AMAZING! She was so fun and told so many stories about the animals and kept us laughing the whole time. We spent a lot of time in the hot tub which was great after being in the cold on the tours! Check in and check out was flexible and the people were so kind. We are already talking about coming back in the warmer months!

Mark was super helpful and allowed me to check in early so I could get to my event on time. I really appreciated the homey feel that this place had since I was traveling alone this time around too.

I had a wonderful one night stay in this beautiful guesthouse. Adrian was an incredible host, accommodating flexible check in and serving delicious home prepared food. She and her husband are also extremely friendly and welcoming. My room was comfortable and nicely decorated, and the downstairs communal area is charming. Could not recommend more if in Abilene!

Clean, comfortable, quiet, and within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and parks. We always enjoy staying with Skylar. We'll be back!

Wonderful mother / daughter hosts. A beautiful location, overlooking nice big watershed / lake. Delicious breakfast. It was just two of us this time - will be a perfect location for a family trip in the future.
