A short walk away is one of Kyoto's five main geisha districts, where you can see the beautiful maiko and geisha. You can also visit Daishoji Hachikami Shrine, Hirano Shrine, and Kinkakuji Temple, which is a short walk away. 　Transportation is convenient, and you can easily get to Ritsushan, Nijo Castle, Ginkakuji Temple, and Shijo Kawaramachi by city bus from Kitaoji Shomei-cho, Kitaoji, and Kitaoji. 　There are also delicious restaurants, sushi shops, yakiniku, Chinese food, and more near the accommodation, so you can enjoy eating out. This place is just perfect for a trip away from Kyoto! The hostel is so tidy and clean and comfy. We received an immediate message upon booking to confirm our plans with check-in details. The staff were very sweet, helpful, and friendly and this was an excellent location in a quieter part of the city – across the river and away from the crowds and perfect to still get to be in Arashiyama. The hostel is walkable to the onsen and provides a couple for a discount for entry!

We've really enjoyed staying at Chie's place! We were given the Tatami Garden room, which is spacious for a couple and has a nice view to a garden and a small seating area. The place was apotless and the futon + mattress very comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast and the staff was truly helpful, they even lent us their bike for most of our stay. We enjpyed the slightly remote location, as opposed to the tourist-packed centric location. Please note that renting a bike when staying here is recommended. Thank you Chie and the staff! Looking forward to staying in your place again on our next trip to Kyoto!

Of our family’s 2 week trip in Japan, Nobu-Sam’s stay was one of our highlights. From pick-up to his warm smile to his beautiful home in the countryside to his traditional Japanese breakfast (with rice grown from his plot and eggs from his backyard!), Nobu-san went over and above as a host. We rode bikes through the picturesque neighborhood and agricultural fields, enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, and loved a drive through Kameoka town on a mission for a bowl of ramen. My 5 year old daughter woke up the next morning saying she missed Nobu-san! Thank you, for a magical experience and sharing your home with us. We hope to visit again during rice harvesting season.

Our stay in Kyoto was absolutely wonderful. The home was spotless, peaceful, and beautifully designed with a perfect blend of modern comfort and traditional Japanese style. Located in a quiet neighborhood, yet with easy access to buses and close to key attractions like Kinkaku-ji, Arashiyama, and Gion. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. The host was attentive and kind, making everything smooth and easy. We would absolutely stay here again — a truly memorable Kyoto experience!

Our stay at Yumeji’s was everything we’d hoped for and more! It was off the beaten path and the older style architecture of the home and surrounding area felt like you’d stepped into a different world. The homemade bread (delicious), the wonderful recommendations (definitely check out the wagyu steak restaurant) and the cozy floorbeds (don’t knock them until you try them!), made our stay there so special. If I ever return to Kyoto, I know where I’m staying!
