City of Wehlen Markthaus - Vacation rental - Apartment

The Markthaus is a historic gem and is a listed building, designated as the first hostel in Saxon Switzerland. The house frames the market square in the reflection of the market church below the castle ruin on the romantic Malerweg. The vaulted cellar and foundation walls date back to 1527. The main house was built in 1734 and operated as a rest stop, post office and inn. In 1850, a massive extension was built in the classicist style. Röhringer ran the Hotel Sächsische Schweiz here.

The apartment on the top floor is truly unique. It is located on the second floor and and the entire place has been restored to original building. The original roof wooden frame, exposed brickwork, original flooring, fully functional wooden stove helps you to imagine what people lived like at the beginning of last century. The main living area is facing the front of the house and therefor you will find a view on the town square, town house and the famous basalt rock “Jehla”.

Living room and one bedroom is on the 3rd floor, the rest on the 2nd floor. A portable crib and highchair are provided free of charge if needed. The public playground is only 100 m away. In the garden there is a small sitting area. A grill is also provided. Wi-Fi is available. The apartment is completely closed and for your own use.

A travel cot for infants is available. The rooms are painted with natural colours and the wooden floors are treated with natural wax and are therefore particularly suitable for allergy sufferers. The 74 m² apartment is a duplex apartment with hallway, living room, 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and large balcony. Smoking is only allowed on the balcony or outside (non-smoking apartment). Outside there is a large garden with pool/pool house (seasonal use) and fire and barbecue area. Garage and carport are available. Wi-Fi, shopping in the village, use of the fireplace room is possible after consultation.

Public transport, such as train and bus, are within walking distance and take you directly to the old, Baroque city center of Dresden with its historical sights, but also to Saxon Switzerland, Moritzburg or one of the many other highlights in the area. Close to shops, restaurants and doctors.
