Had a great stay in the small apartment. Very fully furnished. A wonderful location to completely relax and unwind. You should not be very afraid of spiders and mosquitoes :-)

Super great place and super warm hosts! Apartment was as described and we felt very comfortable. Very clear recommendation. We would always book again.

We have just come to the end of a peaceful and productive “work-cation” at ‘Boartlik Begjin’ in the Huizum residential area of Leeuwarden. The converted kindergarten (several original features have been retained, and photographs inside illustrate the school in its original form) is less than 15 minutes from Leeuwarden’s centre, while just five minutes away is Schrans, a thriving neighbourhood shopping area. Secure parking is available outside ‘Boartlik Begjin’ – our van and bicycle rack easily fitted into the space. Two guest bicycles are also provided, and we enjoyed superb cycle rides (using the ingenious Dutch cycle junction system, or ‘knooppuntensysteem’) following the original Elfstedentocht speed-skating tour of 11 historical cities of Friesland. Jolande and her family are delightful hosts: vases of beautiful fresh flowers were placed throughout the living and dining room, as well as in the bedroom, and we were made to feel very welcome on arrival. A fantastic vacation home with incredibly warm landlords. We had a wonderful time with 2 toddlers, 4 adults and our senior dog. Super equipped kitchen, cozy living room, comfortable beds and a great terrace make for a wonderful vacation. Many beautiful experiences are possible around Grou, for people of all ages. But the best thing was the unconditional helpfulness when we were stranded because unfortunately the car key ended up in the trunk, the car locked! Everything in it! And now we had to drive to Germany with car 2 to get a spare key… Thank you Auke & Marie Christine for letting us wait safely with you 🙏
