Vacation rentals with a kayak in Iceland

The apartment is really very nice and cozy. It is well equipped and there was everything you needed. The location is also very good, it is in the middle of the village, but still very quiet and with great views of the mountain. You can really relax and unwind here. We can definitely recommend the apartment.

The hosts, Gerður and Óskar, were responsive and proactive in ensuring all was going well during my one week stay by checking in part-way through my stay. I appreciated the privacy given by both the location of the property and the hosts themselves. The location and property, located in Kópavogu, was exactly as described and it was a great jumping off point for exploring the surrounding rural areas and Reykjavik by car. Kópavogur is also more accessible to the airport (KEF) and south-western Iceland. I enjoyed discovering shops, restaurants and bakeries in Kópavogur as it is a more relaxed atmosphere than downtown Reykjavik which is also very accessible from this location. A wonderful place to relax. Stunning house and stunning views. The walk to the sheep pens along the river was well worthwhile. Then a sauna and plunge in the river. We are excited about the rest of our tour of Iceland but a little sad to have left Halldor’s place.

Exactly what we were hoping for! Had some hot cocoa and pancakes and enjoyed a peaceful evening outside the city. Great experience and the hosts were so very friendly.

If you’re looking for a peaceful remote location in comfortable surroundings this is the place. As described, it’s 30 km on a gravel road, and will be a bit difficult in winter weather, so don’t plan to leave the valley on a daily basis at those times. However, the atmosphere is part and parcel of this, and I’ll be glad to go back someday. Also, Oskar was very concerned and helpful about making sure we knew when road conditions were slippery, and was willing to hook us up with locals if we were concerned about getting out (which we were not).

Great place to stay in the Husavik area--very peaceful

We had a fantastic stay here! The views from the apartment were so wonderful to wake up to everyday. The place was always warm and cosy which was nice to come into from the cold. Great kitchen set up with everything you need to make meals. We loved using the fire stove for making tea in the evening and toasting marshmallows! Daði was a lovely host, very responsive and gave great recommendations. He was very relaxed and just wanted to make everything easy for us which was very much appreciated and made our time in Iceland all the better! Thank you!

The scenery was amazing. It was wonderful to hang out on the porch, though admittedly a bit chilly in early October. The cabin was very cute, well laid out, clean, and with many small touches that made it wonderful. Only downside was that the hot water does have a strong sulfur smell and the kitchen sink is shallow resulting in water often spraying out of the sink due to the high water pressure. Aside from those two minor issues that place was perfect solitude. One other item to mention is that the nearby waterfall trail was very worthwhile. You park in the nearby small neighborhood and walk up an ATV trail. It was amazing to be the only people around the waterfall and to be able to hike further up the mountains.
