Cozy Cabin in Volcano Village

LauraRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This beautiful, well-built and well maintained cabin was the perfect place to stay while enjoying south point and Kīlauea area. Volcano is windward so some places can get musty—but this cabin, all the linens, all the furniture were clean and fresh. The kitchen had everything we needed, even great coffee! It was handy to have a washer and dryer. The hot tub was perfect after a hike or touring the craters. We didn’t turn on the TV but we noticed it is big :). Steven was a great host—always available for a question but totally respected our privacy. The cabin is tucked into a gorgeous forest, with privacy from neighbors, yet it is less than 5 minutes from the park. Very few restaurants were open, but we enjoyed a couple of delicious meals at nearby Kīlauea Lodge. We can’t recommend this place highly enough—and we hope to be back!

World Class Vacation Home

AlexisRating, 5 stars1 week ago
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights during our honeymoon and it was a dream! The home is completely private, surrounded by lush jungle, and decorated with fresh tropical flowers in every room. Exploring the 21 acres of pristinely cared-for gardens was unforgettable. We were lucky to take a tour with Michael, who has tended the land for 25 years. The care, effort, and deep knowledge he pours into the gardens are immaculate—he has a talent fit for royalty. He even helped us pick fresh fruit! Being off-grid made our time together so special. We kept the doors and windows open to enjoy the breeze, tropical rains, birds by day, and frogs by night. The sunrise over the ocean, visible from the master bedroom, was pure magic. We booked massages right at the house, under the awnings during a light morning rain. It was magical. I truly hope to return one day with friends and family. If you’re looking to relax, cancel your other plans - Hale Mohalu is a must.

Hale Mauna Loa Volcano Vacation Home Upper Level

ErinRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This is a great place by the volcano. It is an older home that has not been updated, but it was perfect for our big family. Make sure you read through the description before you book, as it might not be for everyone. However, they do a good job of describing it and making sure you know that they live on the first floor of the property, etc.

Hilo Paradise with HOT TUB

HollyRating, 5 stars24 months ago
Had a great time in this private and peaceful accommodation. Ashley was very friendly and responsive and provided us with privacy and easy communication. This place provides a unique and relaxing glamping style stay. It rained very hard the first night and sounded beautiful as it’s an open air room but still felt very secure and everything stayed dry. After the rain the coqui were plentiful so it may not be for everyone but I found it to be soothing and peaceful. My only recommendation is maybe to hang a mirror in the shower room or in the kitchen/bathroom area. Mahalo for a great stay!

Hale Ohia Nui Nestled in the Forest

VamsiRating, 5 stars4 months ago
We had an incredible month-long stay at Tamara’s place in Pahoa! Her home was spotless, well-equipped, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Tamara was an excellent host, always quick to respond and resolve any requests. The location is truly magical—nestled in the heart of a lush rainforest with friendly neighbors, it’s a peaceful and unique setting. The proximity to Hilo and the Kalapana area was fantastic. We loved visiting the vibrant Uncle Awa’s night market on Wednesday evenings and the lively Sunday drum circle in Seaview Estates which is just a 15-minute drive away. Pahoa itself is a charming town with welcoming and helpful locals. It’s also a great base for exploring the island: Volcanoes National Park is only 40 minutes away, Mauna Kea about 45 minutes, and even Kona is in drivable distance. A delightful surprise was the two adorable stray cats that often visited—they added so much charm to our stay. Thanks Tamara for making our stay so memorable!

Best Hilo Beach Area. Swim w/Turtles

CareyRating, 5 stars3 months ago
The view! What an amazing location. We saw whales in the bay right outside our lanai a few mornings. The space worked perfectly for our group of 7 girlfriends. Plenty of beds and bathroom space. The home is quite old, but we loved the character and evident history. Everything was very clean and tidy and well stocked. Really nice updated kitchen was wonderful. We were close to everything we wanted to do and enjoyed relaxing at the house in the mornings and evenings while enjoying the view. Though right across from a public beach, the house felt quiet and safe. Richard’s recommends ahead of time were spot on and helpful in making plans in advance. Thank you for a fabulous stay! We’d love to return someday!

Unique 3BR Eco-Retreat w/ Volcano Views & Beaches

SoapyRating, 5 stars5 days ago
Quiet, cozy place to rest after going out. Make sure you take time to view the night sky whenever you wind down. The lava rocks and the background is a surreal experience. The kitchen is well stocked and the bathroom is clean. There are plenty of coals if you want to bbq. Bring your own water and food supplies. The only con I have is mosquitoes. Make sure you have mosquito repellents. Thankfully, the beds have curtains over them. Don’t be like me and forget to utilize that before sleeping unless you want to wake up with mosquitoes all over.

We chose this property because of the close proximity to the ocean. There is no beach but you can definitely hear the waves crashing and it was very tropical. Besides the house next door, it is very private. Plenty of kitchen appliances, plateware, and silverware. The neighbors were friendly, including their dog. Overall, we had a great stay would definitely recommend this house if you are looking for peaceful, quiet time on the island.

We had a great stay. The ocean views, the pool, and the hot tub were fantastic.! The location was great for visiting the national park. I was glad for the air conditioning units in the bedrooms. The living room was pretty hot in the afternoons even with the windows open, but we were mostly out doing things or in the pool during those times so it was manageable. I would highly recommend.

Can’t say enough good things about Ginger and her place. To start, Ginger was a very proactive and responsive host. She made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived, gave us a tour of the place, and recommended a lot of great places on the island. As for the place, you can’t beat the price! It is a little far out, especially if you don’t have a rental car, but the area and nice and private, and the stars light up the sky at night. Ginger provides us with all the amenities we needed for our stay, along with clear instructions for both check in and check out. Thank you again for hosting us Ginger, we can’t wait to return!

We absolutely loved our stay! Our host was super responsive, so incredibly nice, checked in several times during the week, and had great recommendations for an off the beaten path waterfall to swim in, or a beach close by, when we asked for recommendations. The property is STUNNING and the house had every amenity we could have needed. When we had questions or issues she responded to messages within minutes and was onsite within the hour to show us how to do the things she recommended. Would love to come stay again!
