Monthly Rentals in Hampden

This was the perfect choice for a last minute getaway for the long ANZAC weekend with our 15mo baby. We were lucky with the sunny weather for seal spotting (clear skies for stargazing at night, too!) but the tiny house would have been cozy even in the rain. There were lots of lovely little touches, like lamps for soft lighting (something so many places forget!), some great two player games, a soft blanket and chocolates in the fridge, as well as a great shower and very comfortable pillows. We might be air fryer converts now, too! The little boy had a great time toddling about the garden and down on the beach, and the portacot seemed to meet with his approval. A cute little cosy cabin in a beautiful, tranquil location. I was wanting a getaway from Dunedin for a few days and chanced upon this cabin in Kakanui. I was lucky to have found this enchanted place. Kathrin and Walter were great hosts in going the extra mile in making a shy, private person like me feel comfortable and welcome. They invited me into their home and offered me coffee and kept me warm with their log fire while there was a brief power outage in Kakanui. Their narration of how they first arrived in this country from their home in Switzerland was very interesting and admirable. Kathrin has the gift of being jovial and is a great conversationist. A wonderful place to stay, thank you Janina. Our Easter weekend in Moeraki was the perfect relaxing getaway we all needed.

We loved staying at the cottage. Susie is an excellent host. She was friendly, responsive and even recommended a delicious dinner for us at the local pub (checking that it was open as it was a public holiday). The cottage is so gorgeous. It’s perfectly decorated and has every thing you could want. Brekky was delicious too. Highly recommended. <3
