Arcadia Hideaway

HarrietRating, 5 stars4 months ago
I chose the house for practical reasons as I needed be near to an elderly parent over Christmas. It was actually bigger than I expected and it was lovely to find a house so clean and tidy; and thoughtfully organised, ordered and equipped. Trevor's responses and suggestions were excellent – and the fact he'd got milk in was a godsend as my father found he'd run out after the shop closed. Altogether, it was like a real home from home. The house is an easy walk from the main centre of Orford and although as a city-dweller, I found the lack of street-lighting disconcerting when walking back at night, the traffic was light and never fast. The children's festive service in St Bartholomew's on Dec 25th was beyond delightful, and there was a warm welcome (and free drinks!) in the pub next door to the churchyard afterwards. I already know the village and enjoyed rediscovering some excellent walks and spending time looking at the boats on the quay. Altogether a relaxing, stress-free experience.

The Bindery Orford: a peaceful space for two . . .

SarahRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a lovely stay in the tiny book binder’s cottage in the garden of Jamie & Frances’ house. Orford is a lovely, friendly village with fantastic food & drink in the way of restaurants, pubs, bakery, village shop & quay area. We had a fantastic meal at the Crown & Castle. Jamie welcomed us on arrival & showed us around the cottage making us easily feel at home. The local apple juice, crisps & milk in the fridge were a nice touch. There is ground coffee for a cafetière, shower gel, shampoo (no conditioner), a hairdryer & plenty of hanging space in the way of wall hooks. It was a little chilly during our stay but the heater & towel rail were very quick to warm up.

Airy spacious annex In the shadow of Orford Castle

GwenRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Thank you Wendy and Guy for such a warm welcome. The photos did not do the Boatyard justice! The lovely welcome pack of your homemade lemon drizzle cake and baguette, along with eggs from your chickena, plus milk and butter, started our mini break up off to a great start. The view of Orford Castle and allotments from the windows, and from the very comy bed too, were wondeful. Huge walk in shower! It was such a peaceful place to stay. Aiming to return very soon. Thanks again.
