River Cottage Near Loch Lomond

River Cottage is a detached riverside property located in the quiet village of Croftamie on the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. This charming cottage has been finished to a high standard and enjoys lovely views over rolling fields. The spacious decking area overlooks the river "Catter Burn" and is an ideal vantage point for watching the abundance of local wildlife. As an added bonus, free riverside fishing is available from within the grounds of the cottage and there is direct access onto open fields. The open plan living space has two large sofas (one being a sofa bed, making it possible to accommodate up to four adults). The kitchen area is fully fitted with table and chairs for dining. Local amenities are available in Croftamie, including a pub renowned for its delicious food and a number of small shops. Preferred lets are Saturday 3pm to Saturday 10am on a self catering basis, however if you wish to enquire about any dates/times outwith this or a short break then please contact me and I will try to accommodate you if I can. We are delighted to welcome dogs as long as they bring their own beds, are not allowed on furniture and not left unattended. Worth noting that we have chickens roaming freely and the cottage is surrounded by fields which have livestock. We charge £10 per dog, per night and this can be paid at check in. Accommodation details Ground floor Property is all at ground floor level, has electric oil filled radiators and comprises: Lounge Area: With electric stove effect fire, satellite TV/DVD, WiFi, sofa bed (there is an additional charge of £50 for bedding for the sofa bed) and patio doors leading onto decking area. Dining Area: With table and 4 chairs Kitchen Area: With electric oven and electric hob, kettle, toaster, tassimo coffee maker, microwave and fridge/freezer. Bedroom: With king size bed, bedside cabinets, chest of drawers, hair dryer and view over farmland Shower Room: With shower cubicle, WC and wash basin. Facilities All power, bed linen, towels and bathrobes included. Cot and high chair available on request. Miscellaneous Small enclosed garden, large decking area with outdoor seating and BBQ (coals not supplied), with views over river. River access (youngsters take care!) and free fishing from river bank. Access to open farmland along river. Wireless broadband connection. Secure storage for bicycles and fishing equipment etc. Shared laundry facilities available on request. Off road parking for 2 cars.

Newly restored and much loved holiday home that was the original farmhouse is now a private self-contained wing of our home, Glenside Cottage, where we live. In a secluded rural setting, our home and garden is within reach of Loch Lomond, the Trossachs, West Coast, Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh. Cosy pubs and restaurants, wonderful walking, castles, whisky distilleries, quaint villages... Come back to a real log fire and enjoy the big traditional farmhouse kitchen. A perfect retreat and is a wonderful base for exploring all the area has to offer. Most of our visitors wish they had stayed for longer. Come with time to relax and enjoy the surroundings and bring some food to accompany the chilled bubbly waiting for you. You will not be short of choice for things to do in the area!

Altquhur Cottage is in a beautiful location with stunning views over the Campsie Fells, 10 minutes by car to the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond. The cottage is set on a farm with horses, cows and sheep in the surrounding fields and hens roaming around outside the garden. What a gem!! We were staying for work but I’d happily come back to Carole’s place with my family as a base for a walking holiday too. Spotless, stylish, comfortable with everything we needed, we loved that there was bread and milk available on arrival, what a treat! The beds were super comfortable and the linen and towels were so soft, honestly we can’t fault this place and highly recommend it. Thanks Carole :)

A very nice place to stay near Loch Lomond, the cottage is lovely, the host very welcoming and easy to reach and there is everything you need. We visited in March and it the house was warm. There were plenty or books and games that we could use, as well as a fully equipped kitchen. This is by no means a criticism but be aware that the 2 bedrooms are not on the same floor. It just has to be taken into account if you are visiting with children. We recommend this place!

A modern cabin with a wooden exterior sits surrounded by lush greenery and gravel pathways. Large floor-to-ceiling windows provide expansive views of the landscape, enhancing the connection with nature. The structure is complemented by a private hot tub area and well-maintained grassy space.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful Lodge. The Lodge itself was exactly as it is pictured and exceeded our expectations. The views were incredible and we would love to come back and stay again. A truly lovely weekend break.

I absolutely loved staying in this little cozy hut. Liz and David were super friendly, chatted with me, and showed me their little Highlander calf (super cute!). I was also allowed to feed the mother cow. :) Everything was really good and nicely decorated. I loved it so much that I stayed the entire day in the hut, as you can see the mountains from the bed, the bar, or the terrace. It was the perfect spot for a relaxing day off.

My boyfriend and I loved our stay here at the Coo Shed. Bruce was a great host and the room was perfect for a 2 night stay. It is a walking distance from Balfron which is great and Bruce has recommendations for food and days out in the airbnb. Would 100% stay here again and would recommend the Coo Shed to couples or singles looking for a cozy place to stay. Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay at Tir na nOg! The house was warm, comfy, and full of character—a really lovely spot to relax after exploring the beautiful countryside. We highly recommend the hike up Conic Hill—the views from the top are absolutely incredible! We loved seeing the black sheep around and Chauncer the cat was such a sweetheart. The little pixie path was so charming, and while we were all adults, we could definitely see how perfect the house would be for a family with kids too. Communication with the host was great, and there’s a cute shop and café nearby (though we didn’t get a chance to try it). A really special place—would definitely recommend!
