Mario’s place was clean, was an easy location to get to and on top of that had a beautiful view. The patio area and pool were a lovely place to relax and enjoy the view. Check in directions were clear and Mário was a super responsive host.

Beautiful accommodation looking straight onto the sea with the mountains directly behind. So peaceful. Access to pebbled beach and large garden. Very accommodating and friendly. We loved it and would highly recommend !

Casa Auri is a wonderful apartment in a quaint and scenic village, and Claudia is a most responsive and helpful host! In advance of our arrival, she sent very helpful videos about how to park at the apartment and how to get inside. And she was always responsive to our questions, giving very helpful travel tips! The place itself was spotless and set up very well for a comfortable stay. It also has great accessibility to some hiking trails which begin about a mile from the apartment. The charming town itself does not have many food/eating options, but we were able to stock up on what we needed for making meals in Povaoçao, about 15 minutes away along scenic winding roads. I think places like this are among the very best that airbnb has to offer. You just can't imagine finding something so special, so wonderful at a hotel. The cottage (like all other properties of the host) is located in the formerly abandoned village of Sanguinho above Faial da terra, reachable only by 4DW (for check-in/checkout) or a 15-25min hike. Beyond the airbnb guests and hikers, the team tend to the fields, grow crops, bake bread, keep chickens and sell all of this and more at the village shop/bar in the common area with a beautiful view of the sea. It's an incredible place with very friendly hosts! The house itself is simple and rustic, but fully functional and very well cleaned. Although there are bugscreens, a house this old comes with insects, so keep your sweets in an ant-proof container and maybe bring some bug spray (a single mosquito devastated us). One thing: The Wi-Fi in the common area isn't strong enough for remote working, but your cellphone hotspot will work.
