First Cottage was a wonderful place to stay. Great location (very quiet), clean, everything you could need and very homely. Janice was a great host and all instructions were clear. Great holiday, good value for money and would definitely recommend. Melanie.

Me and my daughter (11) have just returned home from a 2-day stay at Sarah’s place. We LOVED it!!!! The location was peaceful and beautiful. The bunkhouse was spotlessly clean, very well equipped, lots of little attention to detail (matching kitchenware, quirky cushions, cute bedding). Excellent choice of tea (Yorkshire tea) provided by Sarah and little milk sachets. Loved the chocolate treats too!! As two chocoholics, these went down very well 😂 Fresh eggs from Sarah’s hens! Beds were soooooooo comfortable!!!!! We both had great sleeps!! Love the addition of the little nightlight too. Excellent value!! Sarah is so friendly and warm; it was like staying with a friend. Ian was lovely and chatty too! Now the best part (according to my 11 year old): THE HENS!! What a joy these little feathered beauties were. Because of Sarah’s hens, we are now getting our own (from the place Sarah recommended). 10 million stars review! We will be back (with the husband and dog!)

This is a lovely place, set halfway up Sheild Hill. Susan is a very friendly host(ignore her photo) she does smile a lot! The accommodation is beautifully presented and quite compact. Wrens nest is two floored, with sleeping and bathroom down some stairs. The stairs are steep and narrow, however i am 6`5" and a big man, and i made it ok. The surrounding area is magnificent, just a few miles from the famous Sycamore Gap in Hadrians wall. Lots of walks and stunning scenery. The main reason i stayed is the Dark Skies above. If you are into Astronomy or Astrophotography, then this place is a dream come true. Very dark skies, bortle 2-3. I will be back, staying here was outstanding 👏 👌

We had an amazing stay at the cottage. Amanda greeted us on arrival and showed us around but there’s a self-check in option available too. The place is very cozy and quiet. There’s sheep at the doorstep and there were little lambs at this time of the year. At night we could hear an owl, really nice. Amanda gave us some great recommendations for the area and was always responsive if we needed anything. The place has everything you need to feel right at home. There’s games, books and extra blankets. The bed was very comfortable and lots of space for clothes, luggage, etc. We only stayed for a few days but we throughly enjoyed the place. Special mention to the spa/bath tub which was blissful. There was tea/coffee and biscuits available on arrival. Free parking IN the cottage too so no fussing around looking for where to park. The nearby town has a supermarket and a petrol station plus some tiny local shops. Highly recommenced to anyone looking for somewhere peaceful and calm.
