The Dunes Andros #3

Maria GRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We stayed during Spring break week, couldn't have asked for a better place to spend it with my husband and two teenage boys Doc's listing looks just like the pictures (No guests were staying at the other two townhouses, so we had the place for ourselves) It was an awesome experience, San Andros is a beautiful and peaceful place! White sand and turquoise water just a few steps from the house We went kayaking and snorkeling every day. There is fishing gear at the house, that my boys enjoyed Bedrooms were clean, comfortable beds, excellent quality of linens, towels, and comforters. Same goes for the bathrooms, everything was perfectly clean. They are very few restaurants, so we cooked/grilled at the house most of the time. We appreciate Ron's help (Doc's assistant). He made us feel right at home, drove us from the airport to the rental car and then guided us to the house. He was very attentive to all our needs and promptly solved any small issues we had. I'm sure we'll be back again ! ?

Androsian Hideaway

CathleenRating, 5 stars82 months ago
This is a beautiful house and property in a very special place. The experience of staying here, and in Judith's house, was really special and could not have been more different from staying in a resort or hotel. We felt at home, and at leisure to explore and find all the secret (of course they only seem secret to us tourists) and beautiful places on this island. Judith really went above and beyond. She picked us up from the airport, took us to stock up at the grocery store and "Hot Spot" for drinks; she helped us arrange our flights; found us a great rental car (around $60 per day); made extensive recommendations and drew maps for us which was really helpful because there is so little information available online. As other reviewers mentioned, there is great filtered water, a kitchen well stocked with spices, and efficient onsite laundry. We ate fresh guava from her trees :) Andros is far from being the tourist center of the Bahamas (we were there at the beginning of the 'off season' and in 6 days of driving ALL over, we literally only bumped into two other families of tourists). It is a big island with relatively few people living in small communities which are scattered sometimes quite far from one another. The first day we stayed we hadn't yet rented a car and we tooled around on Judith's bicycles, mainly just back and forth to the beach (a 5 minute bike ride). Once we had wheels we explored as much of the island as we could, hunting for birds to photograph and fish to snorkel near. Just bring your snorkel gear, a big beach towel, and do rent a car, so you can see the island (Nicholls town is only one settlement and beach of so many), go swimming in the blue holes (Captain Bill's and Rainbow Blue Hole were our favorites inland, while the ocean blue holes were incredible for snorkeling as were several beaches around Morgan's bluff), and practice avoiding poisonwood trees and the many potholes ;) We recommend eating at Driftwood Smokehouse (329-1718) and eating and drinking at Andros Island Beach Resort (you can't beat the view or the welcome) very near Judith's if you want a break from cooking. All in all, a wonderful Airbnb with a lot of care put into making it welcoming and relaxing! Thank you!

Lured Inn Bahamas

GrantRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Lured Inn is a hidden Bahamas gem! This was our first time to the Bahamas with our family of four - two kids age 9 and 11. Amy was SO helpful from the minute we booked assisting in travel, transportation, and recommendation help. Her proactive communication made getting to and enjoying this tucked away spot seamless. The pictures do not do justice to the stunning property perched on white sands with the cove seemingly to ourselves. We enjoyed a half day trip up the cove to Money Point for snorkeling and leisure, saw many sea turtles swimming in the cove, kayaked, and leisured. Nathan, the grounds keeper, was a sweetheart and kept the beach pristine and the kids hands full of fresh coconuts! We ventured down to Kizzy's for a fabulous island dinner - you MUST get the cracked conch! Two days were spend out on the water with Gandal - fishing the flats for bone fish (SO FUN) and snorkeling the reefs. We had a fabulous stay and would recommend Amy's in a heartbeat!
