“John and Karen are kind, genuine, honest, and extremely thoughtful. Karen is a “chatty Kathy” that is passionate about animals and John is calm, polite, a wealth of knowledge about all things, and is always ready with a good one-liner. Along with both being easy to talk and having a treasure trove of great stories, they are also extremely generous (give you the shirt off your back generous). There was a ton of complimentary snacks in the room, any request we had was immediately meant with a helpful response, they even gave us fresh eggs after our first night. They both love their animals dearly and want you to interact but also maintain your safety and the animals safety. The animals are awesome. All rescues that have heartbreaking stories but are living their best life on 10 immaculate acres with two dedicated stewards. The alpacas are hilarious and we could watch them for hours. The donkeys were sweethearts, the goats were characters (John & Karen provided “cookies” to feed the goats which was great fun). We also met some of the horses and followed them as they fed the alpacas, donkeys, and horses. The dogs “Smith & Wesson” are two brothers and they are wild. John was honest mentioning they are working dogs that do not come in the house or ride in their cars. We did get to pet them but you don’t venture into their area without John or Karen around. They also have 2 giant longhorn cows, peacocks, a ton of chickens, and a couple of personal dogs. There is also several hiking trails where you can get lost if you want and a pond on the property filled with small fish and thousands of frogs. The room itself was a gorgeous “farmhouse modern” and had everything you can think of. They really did a great job of making it comfortable. Can’t think of any drawbacks. If you’re looking for a getaway to a slower pace of life and want to see some amazing animals, book Lazy Oaks Ranch, listen to John & Karen’s advice, and have an awesome time:)”

“If you’re a city slicker like me looking for a country adventure, this is the place. Shelly and Niles have a fabulous property and the cottage is superb. I had everything I needed and more. It’s hot this time of year and the air-conditioning worked perfectly. No problem with Internet access at all, which is very unusual out in the sticks. Best dogs ever, but they won’t come and less you ask them, so they are super well behaved. My experience here was fantastic and I will be back as often as possible.”

“What a gem. One of my favorite airbnbs I've ever stayed in! The space was incredible, right in the midst of a horse pasture where they can come right up to visit as they please. The house was stylish with an impressive use of space, the deck was huge and perfect for lounging. We got to meet Meredith and she introduced us to all the super sweet goats we got to pet and hangout with as much as we liked. But I think the one who loved it most was our dog Chunk, who had a blast swimming in the pool & in the pond, and playing with the other dogs, and meet the big horses when they came up to the porch! He was right at home, as were we. Thank you Dori & Meredith!”
