Staying at The Perch is truly an elevated retreat experience. The views: stunnning. The property: freaking gorgeous. The decoration, thoughtfulness, care, consideration, and love that went into the design and staging of this place to make it feel like a home that rivals a luxury hotel. The kitchen is fully functional, with great appliances and cookware. The beds are super comfortable. The temperature control is phenomenal. The lighting and ambiance: state-of-the-art and configurable so you can immerse yourself in the dark skies and stars that surround you. Be mindful this is off-the-grid, so if understand how precious solar energy and water are in the desert and that they are limited, you’ll have no issues. The bathroom / outhouse is super cool, with a built-in-heater and temperature control should you need it. Make sure to bring warm clothes for stepping outside on cold nights. Last but not least, you’ll have a fully-engaged owner and local ambassadors ready to help.

Tana & Dan were wonderful hosts and La Cabana was perfectly cozy. Tana gave great recommendations for Big Bend NP including her personal favorite spots. Dan also gave great recommendations for Big Bend Ranch State Park a true adventure and compliment to the national park. La Cabana was easy to find, thoughtfully decorated and supplied with all the basics.

Ronda was extremely descriptive with everything about the reservation, including how to get there and making sure I knew exactly what to expect. It was incredibly helpful considering it’s about as off the grid as you can get while still having the bare essentials! The hour drive to Big Bend goes by quick with such majestic scenery, and the top deck of the yacht was the perfect place to stargaze in surreal silence under some of the country’s darkest skies! Overall, for a solo traveler looking to disconnect, I would definitely book at Tin Valley, and I’ll be looking forward to doing it again for my next stargazing adventure.

Overall great spot- wish it was a little cheaper but don’t we all. Fantastic communication and such a good “glamp” spot. I guess we didn’t realize the living area was open air but we loved it.

We had an amazing stay- we felt right at home as soon as we arrived. The home is very spacious, it had everything we needed for a long stay, and is in a terrific town, not far from Big Bend. We just wish we could've stayed longer!

Mel is a fantastic host. Desert weather put a little wrench in our plans, but Mel was flexible and super helpful. We wound up spending an evening in the tent at Site 7 and had an incredible experience. The tent was sturdy and the cots were comfortable. We used the Adirondack chairs and the fire pit to make s’more’s. We lucked out with a clear, star studded sky. It felt so special and unique to be out in the desert taking it all in. So cool! Proximity to BBNP and food/groceries is perfect. We got in later than expected and had a little trouble finding the site in the dark. It wasn’t for lack of VERY CLEAR instructions, more human failure and unfamiliarity with the place. Mel recommended getting settled before sunset and so do I ;) Thank you Mel for a truly unique and amazing experience! We loved it <3

Our stay was amazing!! Just moved to Texas from California. I missed the mountains I’m used too. When I saw Big Bend I held back my tears of joy. After exploring our place was so relaxing and beautiful. We enjoyed the stars and out door area. Our own space in the boat away from my daughter and her Yorkshire terrier dog. They loved their space. Slept amazing. It was fun walking around the area. The food in near by restaurants is amazing. My daughter and Loki loved walking to the bathroom. My husband loved the shower and location. Our stay was too short and hope to be back in the fall.
