A very quiet, rustic and rural setting. Sooooooo peaceful. Fantastic place to escape the city, get some rest and reconnect with nature. The outdoor, wood-heated bath was great, although it did seem a little decadent for just one person. Ideal for a couple. There is a river and Diogo (who is very friendly and very helpful) said he has a canoe. Although it was still quite cool in the mornings (early April), there is a wood-burner and an AC unit that also heats. The driveway is do-able but more for adventurous drivers. The village (Macieira da Maia) is very authentic and it is only about 10-15 min to the beach. Vila do Conde has a beautiful old-town. Many great beaches along the coast. Braga is only about 40 min, Oporto, about 20-30 min by car.

If you are looking for a secluded, quiet, peaceful place, then you need to stay at Cesar's House. The sounds of the stream, the quiet neighborhood and get to stay what was a medieval mill gives you the feel of history. Cesar was great. He met us to greet us at our arrival. Treated us to breakfast with croissants, Portuguese patries, and breakfast drinks. The house has all the amenities you need for your stay. There are stores and restaruants within easy walking distance. I felt safe day or night at Cesar's. Can't say enough. Cesar was easy to communicate with as well. Highly recommend!

Casa do Engenho is amazing. So far, the best place my family and I have rented for a 10-day stay. Near Braga, easy to find, beautiful surroundings, quiet and comfortable. We definitely recommend staying. Monica is a great hostess, friendly and always there for you!

This home is ideal for a family, it has everything we needed for preparing meals at home and also a convenient pizzeria right below the house. The view is spectacular and really something special. We drove 20 minutes to the supermarket in Minho and mostly cooked at home, which was very convenient. The host is very accessible, but note that the main language is Portuguese. We arrived at sunset and at first we couldn't find the place but the host was very generous and was available to meet us and showed us exactly how to enter the house. The location is super for exploring the nature reserve and there is a water park right around the corner with many excellent facilities. We highly recommend it!

The house is simply wonderful and deserves the note it has. Alfredo and Fátima received us with great cordiality, showed us all the details of the house and were always ready to answer questions by message. The house is in a privileged place, surrounded by nature and perfect for family resting. It was cold but the house was always warm with heaters and fireplace. We were in 10 people, including children and everyone loved and wanted to come back again. I recommend it!

We felt right at home, the place was wonderful and the house was impeccable, everything was super clean and the fact that it has a foosball table for the children was a lot of fun. This house literally set on the lake of Gerês has an amazing location! With its small beach for canoeing or paddleboarding, it offers the possibility to indulge in water activities very easily. The house is remarkably equipped, nothing missing and even more. The living room, kitchen and bathrooms are the most pleasant rooms in the house. Under the attic, it can be a little hot but good air circulation in the evening allows you to sleep well. Finally, the hosts are welcoming which does not spoil anything! We will come back without hesitation.
