Upper Level of Historic Carriage House

Wander out to the veranda and lie in a hammock among the trees. Watch the goats play or listen to the birds and read your favorite book. With 10 acres and a gazebo in our large private park just a short walk to the Watauga River, you'll have plenty to do. We are a quick 7-mile drive to App State football games or concerts. In the winter ski or tube any of the four resorts an easy 10-14 miles away. Located in historic Valle Crucis (between Boone and Banner Elk), this residence is the entire upper floor of our recently renovated Carriage House. Access to the floor is via a private staircase at the front of the building. The staircase can be locked at the bottom or the top. The lower residence of The Carriage House is also available on AirBnB (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/28276506) as a separate rental. We have installed extensive sound proofing between the floors but you still might occasionally hear a little noise. To help ensure a positive experience for the guests in the lower residence, we ask that you leave your shoes at the top of top of the stairs. Our family lives in the historic farm house nearby and is available as needed. Most of the furniture in the residence is original to the property or the area. At 1,200 sq ft this two bedroom, one bathroom features two queen beds and one queen sized sofa bed. It has a fully stocked kitchen including Keurig coffee machine, stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and kitchen basics for six. The private outdoor deck is shielded from the rain and snow; however, provides a tranquil atmosphere ideal for reading a favorite book or enjoying a delicious cup of coffee. Relax in the hammock and listen to the birds or watch the fireflies in the forest. Or feel free to borrow a couple of our inflatable tubes and float the Watauga River. Additionally, the residence has a 70 inch flat screen television in the main living area. With the attached AppleTV, you can access your movie or music libraries via your Netflix, Amazon, or other related account. Keep in mind that internet is spotty in the mountains and our cell phone coverage is poor. You will have access to the entire Shull's Farm, including river front access to the Watauga River... just a short 5 min walk away. Explore the granite cliffs overlooking the river and valley or enjoy tranquil walks through the pine and spruce forest. The chicken house is a favorite... just follow the path behind the white house. Occasionally the chickens free range. At the chicken house you'll also meet our Great Pyrenees working dog, Bella. She is learning to guard the chickens but will soon be promoted goat guarder. We can easily accommodate two cars in the driveway. We live on the property and are available as quickly as you need us. We'd also love to tell you about the area, give dining recommendations, or things only locals know. However, if you prefer solitude, we provide keyless entry to the unit... just message us if you need us. We are 10 acre working farm, with approximately 400 yards of Watauga River access. Access is a 5-10 minute walk from the Carriage House and includes a gazebo near the water. The fishing is great! Located in Valle Crucis, near Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock, the Carriage House was used for horses on a farmstead 100 years ago. Nearby Valle Crucis Park is a wonderful way to spend a family day outside. The Orignial Mast General Store is 1-mile away and the Blue Ridge Parkway is an easy drive. Our property does NOT require four-wheel drive or chains in winter. We have easy access in all seasons. Located in Valle Crucis, near Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock, the Carriage House was used for horses on a farmstead 100 years ago. Peaceful Mountain Home near Asheville, River View/Access

Reconnect with nature on a cheerful orange rocking chair on the river-view deck of this authentic woodland cabin, set in 20 acres of unspoiled land. Cabin restored with 2 modern bedroom, fully modern kitchen and bath areas and utility room in 2017, plus deck off kitchen living area and another shaded deck in adjacent woods. Views of the river to welcome the mornings and sunsets in the evening. Large windows to provide indoor/outdoor living experience. Dog friendly rental, so please let us know if you plan to bring your buddy - 2 dog maximum. The cottage is ideal for small families, 2 couples or a small group. 4 people max. Dogs considered. Pet fee required. We both love the town of Asheville, yet wanted a place close enough to go back and forth easily while living in a beautiful retreat setting. Our first priority in finding land was to be near a beautiful river so we could spend time being nurtured by the sounds and animals of river life, - just sitting, reading, throwing sticks for our dog Morris and playing with grandchildren. We love the private feeling our land gives us while only being 20 minutes to Asheville, 12 minutes to charming Weaverville and 10 minutes to Mars Hill. We have three special outdoor areas for enjoyment. The first is our south facing deck. Accessed from either the main living area or master bedroom, it is perfect for watching a sunset while listening to the sounds of the Ivy River below. The deck also features a gas grill, conveniently located to kitchen and dining areas. Just a few steps from the front door of the cottage in a wooded area shaded by a great oak is a second patio deck. You can read, have an engaging conversation or take a relaxing nap in the hammock in the shade. We have also set aside a private spot on the river, a short walk from the cottage where you have your own beach area to sit, wade or fish. We are situated on 20 acres of wooded strolling paths, which includes private river front access for fishing or relaxing. The cottage, named Herons Nest, is centered around an off-grid cabin we built when we first purchased the land. We fully up fitted the cabin and added 2 bedrooms and a deck, to make it a mountain modern cottage. The setting is very private and peaceful, with large windows connecting all spaces to the natural world and a deck that overlooks the Ivy River, where you can enjoy the sounds of the laughing river, see wonderful bird life, and relax. We love the quiet, restful surroundings; yet the drive to shopping, exploring, and eating out are quite manageable. Our land is conveniently located to all of Western North Carolina’s outdoor opportunities, including white water rafting, fishing hiking, biking and horse back riding. Biltmore Estate is just 30 minutes away. There are many golf courses to choose from also. We are always available by phone and text if we are not actually at our home, just a few hundred yards down the road In the woods at the end of a beautiful drive along the river and just a short distance to restaurants, bars and bakeries of Mars Hill and Weaverville, it's an easy 20 minutes to Asheville to visit a plethora of craft and micro breweries, top-notch restaurants, mountain and modern arts and crafts, nightlife venues and outdoor activities from hiking, fishing, water sports, riding, and biking too numerous to catalog here. All this attracts people from far and wide to the N.C. mountains. We are rural North Carolina and lucky to have high speed speed fiber optic internet that was just installed Spring, 2018

Striking Cabin with a Hot Tub and Mountain Views

OVERVIEW: The cabin boasts 2 spacious bedrooms, each with a king size bed. Each room has it's own full bathroom, with a Jacuzzi tub in the upstairs bathroom. There is a sleeper sofa downstairs in the main living area. Both levels of the cabin have mountain facing porches which boast gorgeous views of Mt LeConte and the Smoky Mountains and that view can be enjoyed in the rocking chairs or the hot tub. There are fireplaces on both floors that add extra warmth and charm. There is a dining area just off the kitchen where you can share a great meal with friends or family. ENTERTAINMENT: Each bedroom and the main living room has it's own HD TV with cable TV and a DVD player. Upstairs there is a game room with a full size pool table, and arcade table and a mini air hockey table. The neighborhood has it's own pool and it is a short walk to a playground great for younger kids. There is free Wi-Fi so you can stay connected if you want. KITCHEN: The cabin has a full kitchen, with an oven, stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, blender and dishwasher. The kitchen is stocked with pots and pans and cooking utensils as well as plates, bowls, cups and silverware. Outside there is a charcoal grill. OTHER: The cabin also comes with a washer and dryer, all the linens needed for the 2 king beds and sleeper sofa, bath towels and hand towels for the bathrooms and more. You have access to the entire cabin. The cabin is for you during your stay. I will not be there when you are there. Of course if you need help with anything I can be available. The cabin is located minutes from Dollywood Theme Park in Pigeon Forge, as well as the quaint shops and eateries in Gatlinburg. Hiking and camping at Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a short drive away. The Great Smoky National Park is the most visited park in the National Park system and for good reason. The natural beauty that can be found in the park, across all 4 seasons is breathtaking. With over 800 miles of hiking trails, it should be easy to find a trail that meets your needs. And if you just want to drive through the park, the winding mountain roads and the Cades Cove loop offer beautiful scenery as well. If you have questions on activities or hikes within the park, don't be afraid to reach out and ask.

Our home was renovated by us in 2017/2018, it has been so much fun to be hands on while our vision has come together to give an industrial rustic feel. The Tree House can be used as a base camp as it is centrally located in the NC mountains ...10 Minutes to Historic Flat Rock & the Flat Rock Play House, 15 minutes to downtown Hendersonville, 15 Minutes to Dupont State Park, 20 Minutes to Brevard, 35 Minutes to Tryon Equestrian Center, 45 Minutes to Blue Ridge Parkway, 45 Minutes to Asheville, & 45 minutes to Greenville, SC. Once you head up the driveway you will have parking for 3 vehicles on the parking pad. Do not park in the garage. Please use caution when pulling in and backing around deck support poles. Guests will have access to the entire property minus one owners closet with a pad lock. Available as needed by text, phone, email. I will be happy to recommend cool restaurants, breweries and area attractions. We love to hike so we can provide suggestions on hikes in the area. The cabin is set a top a plot of land along a private gravel road, yet only minutes by car from downtown Hendersonville’s dining and shopping. Pay a visit to Carl Sandburg's Home, then grab a cold one at Oklawaha Brewing Company. A vehicle is reccomended We have a Insignia Roku TV & DVD player. The TV is attached to an antenna with about 15 stations and it has apps for Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Google Play, & Sling. Guest will have to use their account logins for the apps

The entire home and outdoor space is yours to enjoy. We have one locked closet in the basement for supplies. We also have a ping pong table set up in the garage for you to enjoy! Very quiet neighborhood less than 10 minutes to downtown Asheville, The Biltmore Estate and Blue Ridge Parkway. Great house for relaxing but not appropriate for parties. Onsite parking for 3-4 cars. Please only park one car in front. All other cars should be parked on the side of the house. Uber is very popular in Asheville! If you have any special needs or would like for us to provide items for your stay, please let us know. We can have fresh flowers, wine, champagne, local gifts, etc... available for you for a small fee. Contact us by email and we can help! We are pet friendly but we ask that you clean up after your pet. We provide doggie bags, paw wipes, dog bowls, and dog hair rollers. We also ask that you keep your pets off of the furniture and the beds. The laundry service charges double if they find pet hair on linens. In order to keep cleaning fees at only $75, please keep hair off of the beds. We love our pet owners and want to keep our home pet friendly! This is a very quiet family neighborhood. This unit is on the 2nd floor and it has a balcony from the living room that overlooks Riverfront Parkway & Parkway Pourhouse.
